Anyone with PCOS have any reverse symptoms/ improved symptoms after VSG?
AmandaWho replied to vsg2266's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had be lapband which worked a little but not really and upon visiting my gyno for a visit plus internal sono, the little but I did lose got rid of any sign of PCOS on my ovaries. I still struggle with other symptoms and am going for a sleeve revision on 5/31 so fingers crossed for more results! -
Hello, This is my first post so I'm very new here. I'm having my lapband out this Wednesday and going for the sleeve 5/31/17. I was looking for some advice/information from people who have lived through the whole procedure already. I'm currently 205 and gaining no matter what I do. I'm so stressed out that I'll gain a lot of weight between 3/29 and 5/31 that it's all I can think about! I have PCOS and Insulin Resistance and also, I have my wedding this October. I know I'm smaller than most people who have gotten the sleeve but I've struggled my entire life and I'm ready to get this tool to help me finally succeed, as the band did nothing for me except make me throw up every day for the last 2 years. Does anyone suffer from the same things (PCOS & IR) as me? Have you found success? Any advice from anyone is much, much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Amanda

I was sleeved May 2013. Start weight was 239 I'm at 180. 59 lbs lost. My Dr said this is all I'm going to lose. I've been here for 3 years. I workout 4 times a week. We are very active family. I've been so disappointed here lately that I didn't lose more. I went from a size 20 to a 14 and still at a 14. Still have my protein. Now I'm thinking about asking my Dr about sleeve revision. I see my friends that had the sleeve and they lost so much more weight and I know everyone is different but I was even more disappointed then. I hate to complain but has anyone else gone through this? And what do I do??

I'm 13 days post op and also had a hiatal hernia and scar tissue removal (lap band revision to sleeve) and can relate to your experience. Each day seems to bring improvements, small or big, so I'm glad about that.

Revision Eligibility
A New New Dawn replied to thin4life14's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I just revised from lap band to the sleeve as it was so uncomfortable for me and I didn't like always having to adjust it or stuck episodes. It's great for many, just wasn't for me. Can you try a pouch reset diet for a few days and cut the soda to try to get your restriction back? -
Band to Sleeve Revision Recovery
A New New Dawn replied to Gigi_Girl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had revision done 3/14. I took 9 days and glad I did. I ended up having a lot of scar tissue removed and a hiatal hernia, I didn't know I had, repaired. It's an adjustment getting liquids and protein in and having energy for a full day. Best of luck to you! -
Band to Sleeve Revision Recovery

When I had my sleeve revision in 2014, I had surgery on Monday and felt well enough to return to my desk job on Wednesday. -
You have made amazing progress, congrats!! Although, I only lost 180 lbs, I have a friend who lost several hundred pounds. She had an abdominoplasty during mid-weightloss. She talked to several board certified plastic surgeons who were willing to do the surgery on her with the understanding that she would very likely need a revision once she reached her goal weight. She was able to get insurance to cover the mid-weightloss surgery and it gave her such a boost in self confidence. About 3 years after she reached her goal weight, she did indeed have a revision and so much more. Her outside now matches her inside and she couldn't be happier. Good luck!

I am scheduled for a band to sleeve revision on April 12. It is a long to coming and i am excited. If you have had this conversion, how long were you out of work? I have an office job and am planning on 7 - 10 days. Is this realistic?- 13 replies

Hi there. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I'm scheduled to have a revision 4/11 and share some of the same concerns. It's totally normal to be emotional and sorta freaking out. Dehydration is a concern but I'm sure your surgeon has and will provide post op instructions on ways to avoid it. Some of us will breeze right through while others will struggle and experience dehydration. Pain varies also person to person. What I will say to you is no matter the struggles or hurdles we have to over come in the beginning they all pass. Hang in there and try to find comfort in the wonderful way your life is about to change in the long run. Always know in the back of your mind if it gets bad it will eventually get better. Hang in there and wishing you the very best on your WLS journey. -

Hi, in Logan. I had a lap band put in 8 years ago and am now looking at revision to sleeve or bypass. So far, I'm fairly sure it will be bypass. Just waiting for the PHI waiting period to be up. -

I considered using him for my revision. I will say he's an excellent surgeon I just found his staff quite a bit troubling. There are many reviews just google. I wish he would fix the staffing issues. -
I had a similar problem. This was about 7-8 yrs. after a revision. Ended up having surgery for a hiatal hernia. Showed most of my anatomy (gastric pouch) was above the diaphrahm. Anyway, it solved the problem.

The gastric sleeve surgery was the best thing I ever did. I had it in August 2013 and lost over 100 pounds. I have been drinking diet soda and I know that my sleeve has stretched. I have gained 30 pounds back. I am desperate to go back to the way things were. If insurance doesn't cover it which I'm positive they probably won't can I still have revision surgery? Am I eligible at 160 pounds? I just want my sleeve back to the way it was. Or am I eligible for lap band?

Random Bariatric Thought of the Day.
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Navigating the Wilderness's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, my Surgeon had no personality!! Good Surgeon but not good with follow up. I had my RNY July 2, 2013. My hubby had the same DR and was getting a Lap Band removed and gallbladder then be revised to a RNY. Well, the Band had eroded into his liver so he made a judgemet and backed oout. But...said that in 3 months he wuld do his WLS. He got abcesses and almost died!! He was so sick for 10 months and 3 monthsn he doesn't even remember. Do you know what that SOB did? He dropped him right in the middle of all of that. Finall, after all of this our PCP said, This has gone on to long!!! I am calling your Surgeon!! Of course I said NO!! I could just see the Surgeon hurting him (he used his scissors ith no Lidocain he shoved it into his open wound!! Because I had Strictures (scar tissue) I had 5 endoscopes with 4 diaations. So do you want to know what that SOB called us? He called us PROBLEM KIDS!! I fired him and went to another Bariatric Center. If you are not happy ith your Surgeon you can find someone to help you. I was told that no DR's want to clean up after another DR. I transfered my records and was done with him. I can not believe the HELL we went thru with him. Before we fired him we told them that we idn't want to see him again we would just see the PA there. So many others have ved him, he thought we were going to sue him over my hubby. He had 5 bacterias and I could see his intestines. Never fee like you are stuck with a DR. If you aren't happy call around and get someone else. Our lesson was learned the HARD WAY!! Good Luck -
@hajoura_sweet omg please tell me all about it!! on a scale of 1-10 how bad was the pain when you woke up? Were you able to get up and walk the same day? Was this your first surgery or a revision? Can't wait to hear back from you.
-
I think you are too young to have your intestines touched. Go sleeve and you can always revise later. I did sleeve, I started at 358 day of surgery, 190 right now

March 31 Sleevers - anyone else out there?
Sun Godess replied to SweetSusy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm going to Mexico because I didn't want to wait another 6 months for my insurance to approve a revision, and possibly deny me. So, I just said nope, I'm doing it asap and make me happy! That means I have to pay, but it's worth it! How about you? -
Sister and I will have RNY sometime in July or August 2017
cevans2995 replied to cevans2995's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No we lost no weight with it, ended up with IBS and other gastric problems, hence the reason for the RNY revision. Not to mention my upper GI showed most of the sutures had come undone. -
I just got my approval today- I was denied BCBS for revision to lap band removed in 2013... I was denied the first submittal (8/2016)and again when my surgeon requested a peer review. I felt rejected but finally took in my appeal the day before my 180 day period was to run out. I wrote a letter and thought for sure it was going to be denied again... approval arrived exactly 30 days after submitting my request. File the appeal!

RNY or Sleeve! What to do!
starlight_dreams replied to starlight_dreams's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you all. I met with my doc today and went over everything. He said with the reflux I have and all the comorbidity's that the chance of having to get a revised from sleeve to RNY would be high plus the chance of esophageal cancer would also be him if my reflux went up. In the end we decided to go with RNY. Thank you all again! -
Tummy Tuck and Inner Thigh Lift
Spiceyfrog replied to Spiceyfrog's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi there - just checking in with a quick update. It's been a hectic month. My husband left January 28th to work in Saudi Arabia for a bit, so I have been on the go! I ended up taking a total of six weeks off work and it was the best decision ever. I am 12 weeks post-op now and about 95% back to normal. At my last appointment, which was at nine weeks I was released to resume light exercise, 15 minutes on the treadmill and 15 minutes on the elliptical. As you know, I had some really SLOW healing groin incisions. As you will see from todays pictures, I am down to about a one inch spot that I think will be fully healed in the next week or so. At this point, my tummy tuck was 100% work it, I would have paid a million bucks for it. I have mixed emotions about my thigh lift. I am glad my inner thighs no longer sag, but I chose the full incision (almost down to my knees), in hopes that my entire upper leg would have been tighter. I am going to talk to the doctor about a revision at my next appointment in April. Based on how long my groin incisions took to heal, I would never have those redone. The scars are going to be thick, but the placement could not have been much better.
