I'd talk to your pdoc about it and also any future possible bariatric doc. As far as I know, once you're habituated to seroquel the weight gain stops. But you may find you lose slower than normal and maybe not as much weight overall as others, that's what Dr Weiner said on one of his YouTube videos. Hope that helps. Marginal/anastomotic ulcer anyone?
Frustr8 replied to eudys3's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
At the very least I will call into my hospital, see if anyone is working in the Bariatric Clinic on Christmas Eve๐๐๐ , maybe they can make Me feel Better about Me! -
Anyone else have an easy/hard time with liquids during their 2 week post op? Iโve read not to be too concerned regarding โrestrictionโ during this phase, but man Iโm not feeling too much of any restriction with protein drinks or even sugar free pudding really. Maybe a little bit with the pudding... but Iโm only eating the one serving. Iโm also experiencing some real head hunger but I guess from what Iโve read this is somewhat normal during this full liquid stage too? Reading you guys talking about bariatric lasagna... ๐ณ Brother, that day canโt come soon enough! Iโm suppose to move onto purรฉes this next Thursday. Any ways, Iโm having a tough time with full liquids, not because itโs hard to get them down, but because itโs easy to get them down, if that makes sense? Sticking to it regardless! I knew liquids through the holidays wasnโt going to be easy. :) Iโm just hoping that once I get onto purรฉes I feel restriction, and with that a feeling of being satisfied.

Seraquel and gastric sleeve
GreenTealael replied to Rachel Mc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You will need to speak/work with your prescriber and bariatric team about this. (You may be removed from the med prior to surgery and for a little while after then resume regularly provided it's not time released or switched to a non time released formula) Since you have been on this med already and are not starting fresh It *may* be as simple as you lose what you lose (not sure if it would be more or less, too variant to tell/bariatric team will have better answers based on experience) Not surprisingly, a lot of people are on meds that also affect weight gain/loss so teams are aware of these things being a factor. Safe Journey ๐ -

Thank you bariatric family for your kind words prayers and support -
I went to a family holiday party yesterday and I made a bariatric friendly lasagna. For the first time in my life, I didn't think about having pre dinner appetizers. I had 1.5 tablespoons of my bariatric lasagna and was full (needed to walk off some chest pain). I also had absolutely no interest in dessert and some of my old family favorites were present. It was like a true Christmas miracle!!!! Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk

LaurynLove come over to the Under400 for the first time in 7 years or the Gals starting over 300 pounds thread(which I was original poster and started) we are here to support and love you. I only started in the mid to upper 300s but I too know the Plump Princess struggles and there have been others at your weight that have sought and found success. And one lovely facet, you will tend. to drop weight faster than average after surgery, it's almost a given. I have never tried Whole Foods vitamins, considering their sterling reputation on other items, as long as they contain iron and the trace elements they should be okay. I myself have been on prenatal vitamins since June except for a brief post-surgical period when they switched me to ground up chewables๐ , ycch, never want back THERE again, loathed them. My prenatal are neat, sweet, small yet complete. And my blood labs have been just ducky! Due to some other complications in my recovery I am on TPN, have had a PICC LINE in my upper left arm for 3.5 weeks, not as Scarey as it sounds, but I have twice weekly blood draws And everything is at proper levels where they should be.If you're curious about what happened, just ask, I have no problems discussing it. But you are very welcome on Bariatric Pal and we can help you further, just ask, okay?

A lot of us were raised to believe All Food equates Love. If you fail to feed me, it means you don't Really Love Me! Now Bariatrics and Weight Loss Surgery shook things to their very core. We live in a Brave New World where the rules have changed and it is difficult to come to terms with THAT. -
Ensure and Boost are normally forbidden for us because of the carbs and sugar, but the new Ensure Max has 30 grams of protein and only 1 gram of sugar. The flavors are limited, only chocolate and mocha, but I have tried the mocha and it is more palatable than a lot of other shakes I have tried. It does contain caffeine, so depending on your plan you might not be able to have that one. It is a little thinner and has less of an aftertaste to me than the other shakes, and I like that I don't have to order it online because they have it in the pharmacy. I have really struggled with protein, the shakes make me gag, so this has been a godsend. I don't like it, but I can handle it a lot better than the others I have tried (omg, Atkins tastes like sour milk and saccharine). I add a tiny bit of bitter unsweetened cocoa powder to further temper the sweetness. If you are struggling with shakes, maybe give this one a try. It also is low fat, so it only has 150 calories, which is really good for that much protein. Incidentally, I noticed that it has calcium caseinate along with milk protein concentrate (a no-no for some surgeons but not mine), and I noticed that my Bariatric hot cocoa, which is also thin and palatable, has calcium caseinate as well. I have found casein protein, but I have heard it is thick and awful, but I can't find calcium caseinate as a powder, only as an ingredient in other products. If you hate thick drinks, you might like drinks with calcium caseinate as a main ingredient.

Still considering- Need answers please

Endoscopic Sleeve Gastro, instead of being done laprascopically the way most WLS are done these days it is done with an endoscope, so it is done from the inside, there is a whole forum on Bariatric Pal, think two places they do it prominately are North Carolina, St Louis Missouri and I think maybe Colorado. But my friend LynnV had it done in the Cincinnati Ohio area. I think they reduce the size and surface area for food absorption with internal stitching, Lynn had a very quick recovery and is doing well. Often done for people around BMI 35 that maybe don't have enough co- morbs for traditional or just prefer the convenience of not having incisions in the skin to heal. Wouldn't have worked for me, I was pretty well mandated into a RnY bypass by my conditions. -

GGLFH, OMG I am so so sorry to hear this! Are you and Andrea๐ still together, if so I'm sure she is helping you through this twisted and tortued path. Yes- your Mama would be very proud of you, if you remember from before, I always felt she was one of your most committed supporters. And you should dedicate each, pound lost to her memory, because if there is a Heaven as I was taught, she is watching and smiling, maybe telling the other angels " Look, that is MY BABY GIRL. Look how wonderfully she is doing. I am so proud." USALLY I agree with Orchids and Dragons, we have become very close Bariatric Pals, but we no longer all like to eat, I am an exception, & perhaps I too will need therapy. Today I do not care if I eat again. So often when I attempt I urp up or vomit. I have had a PICC LINE in since November 29th & at the least it will be in until mid- January. 14 hours each day I am fed by TPN, so I have 10 free hours when I do not wear a backpack, with my pump and feeding solution in it. I try to do my household duties then, shop if necessary. I tried to speak with my surgeon and dietician about this on December 17th, they were rather dismissive, "Don't worry, it is because your getting sufficent calories from the liquid feed" but I have a deep-seated conviction they may be wrong. So I will reach out to my surgeon one more time on January 15th, if necessary make him sit down a minute instead of him being a Doorknob Doctor, one hand on the door knob so he can keep moving. I hate to sound whine-like but HE IS Not Addressing my needs! I have lost 50+ pounds since surgery in September but just now starting to go 8nto a smaller size. Lost weight in arms , neck, shoulders , face firsts Now tummy, thighs , blobs and rump are finally, following up. They always say as you lose you start looking like a younger cuter version of yourself, not ME- look like,my Mama and my Aunt Grace and they are long-dead. But Good to hear from, you once again!๐๐๐๐ -
Doctors who can't see beyond a patient's weight could miss other conditions
RoRoKitty replied to Born in Missouri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had many doctors discretely mentioning weight loss... but I was most disturbed by two doctors. One was at work, they give us check ups every year... so when I went to see him he pointed his finger to me and said how did this happened? I think I went red with rage... I mean there are so many ways to mention that issue... he chose the worst. Also when I was searching for a bariatric surgeon the first one I visited when saw my helmet he commented you ride a moto? And when I said yes he said poor moto... wtf he is bariatric surgeon and says such things! Of course I left running (as much as I could by that time lol). Hopefully never had anything that was misdiagnosed due to my weight! -
Positive Things at 4 AM I am warm I am safe and loved I have the freedom to be what I can want to be, even when it seems difficult Although I am having gastrointestinal difficulties, until they resolve I can receive my nourishment through my PICC line and TPN I haven't thrown up since yesterday so today can be a better day So no matter how this Saturday in. December finds me, I am still alive and grateful to Ohio State University, Bradley J Needleman MD and Bariatric Medicine for a future. And I am grateful to my RnY surgery, even with its flaws , it has been my third best tool, behind commitment & Belief in ME for success out of sorrow! SO I AM TRULY A VERY BLESSED 73 YEAR PERSON WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE!๐โค๐

For me, post-op stages are: Stage 1 (Weeks 1-2): Full liquid dietโafter 5 days of meeting fluid and protein goals I can have soft proteins Stage 2 (Weeks 3-4): Soft protein foods Stage 3 (Week 5 and beyond): Bariatric regular It's good that you've already started adjusting your diet! I was required to lose a certain amount for insurance approval, but have really only been cutting down on portions. -
Well congratulations, YOU ARE THE FIRST MARCH 2019 to March into Bariatric Pal! You deserve a๐ trophy for that!

I Was Amazed When I Heard This
Healthy_life replied to Danny Paul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have no problem with steak as a protein choice. He didn't eat the whole portion and doggie bags are cost effective for bariatric patients. Support groups can get a bit crazy. My top local support group things not to do. A person a week out from surgery ate doritos and ended up in the ER. Bariatric surgeons potluck. We were asked to bring bariatric friendly foods/recipes to share. Someone made a sugar free chocolate cake with real sugar frosting. -
What do you eat for breakfast?
Starry*Night replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have ground turkey with fat free cheese, or egg salad. The former is an easy 13g of protein for 2 ounces and it tastes like a hamburger, yum! A lot of times I also enjoy SF Bariatric hot chocolate - I get mine from the brand Bariwise on Amazon. 15g of protein for 75 cals, always goes down well for me! -
If you are exercising and lifting as you say, your calories are probably too low. My nutritionist had me up my calories from 900 to 1300. I usually hit it at +/- 100 calories of that daily. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week where I run and lift those days spending about 90 minutes there, on my non gym days I walk for 2-3 miles. The nutritionist told me I need the extra calories if working out, if not the body holds on to what it can for survival. You may want to speak to a nutritionist that works with bariatric patients.

Not sure if you have been denied or if this is a financial issue for you. We understand how hard it is to lose weight. Will a super restrictive diet be long term sustainable for you? Bariatric patients eat 800-900 calories in the first months. Can you get a referral to see a dietician to help you find a food plan? A food log app is valuable and eye opening. It will calculate and set a calorie, carb, protein, and fat goals. Hitting these macros will put your body in weight loss mode. Many apps out there: Loseit https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fitnow.loseit&hl=en_US my fitness pal https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfitnesspal.android I wish you the best. How often do you do measurements/progress pics?
Frustr8 replied to notmyname's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good frame of mind, I like it. I keep considering sending my picture in to Bariatric Pal, but I have resisted, see I was told so long I was obese, ugly and no one would want to look at me, pictures were prideful that I can't believe anyone would want to see mine. So Looly you look with "fat" eyes I guess I'm still looking with "ugly" ones. But the Fat Shell is cracking, at this point I think I still resemble my dead Mama but surely by Spring I will look younger, maybe I'll get brave then! -
Sideeye the saying is: Your mind keeps writing checks your boxy can't cash. My mind tries to tell me, you're over 3 months past surgery, YOU CAN surely eat that variety of food, but with my ulcers and pouch stenosis I really can't, and urping is NO Fun. Finally I have had to cycle back, let the TPN sustain me and only take by mouth the liquids and runny purees it can handle. And trust I will heal before long. But I was a prideful beast, I didn't have red hair for nothing. And I remember my paternal grandfather, his saying was: Them that don't listen. got to feel. My 2 bariatric doctors did give me good advice after all.๐๐๐
