Good for you P'Nut. These NSV's can mean the world when the scale isn't moving very fast. I can go up the stairs quickly don't get out of breath or even have to hold onto the hand rail. I don't run. My hip doesn't allow it, but I can move quickly which makes me feel good. With the weather starting to get warmer, I got into my stash of shorts. The smallest pair is 2 sizes too big! So basically I have no shorts that fit me. That's a great feeling as long as it's because they're too small. Oh, and one more thing......(blush) I had to buy new undies because all my others were getting too big. I bought those neat boy shorts. Makes me feel all sexy again.

My best friend gave me 2 boxes full of tons of clothes! I was trying them on yesterday and I was happy when the size 10's seemed extra comfortable. I had tried on one pair of jeans that I really liked and though they zipped and buttoned with ease they weren't quite as roomy. None the less I liked the way they looked best so I decided to put them on for the day and I realized that they were a size 8!!! I was shocked, I have no idea when I was a size 8 before, I assumed it must be the jeans, so I looked through the box and found another pair of size 8, again they zipped with ease. I was cautiously excited but still thinking that it was just the luck of the jeans. So my husband and I went shopping, I tried on 4 different pairs of pants all a size 8 and all fit me!!! Of course some fit better then others but they all buttoned and zipped with ease. I can't believe that I am in a size 8 I have been a pretty slow but steady loser so for me this is an accomplishment, I wasn't sure that I would even make it to single digit clothes. My ultimate goal would be to wear a size 6 and now I am feeling like slow but steady might get me there, even if I take longer then others! I love these NSV's thanks for letting me share

Great advice RW! I did seem to make a breakthrough this morning - moved to 27.5 but I did have some NSVs too! : - I'm able to move to the middle hook on all my bras (except my sports bras) -My husband said when he hugs me, he feels a huge difference and I can tell too - my work gym has a huge set of stairs to the locker rooms and when i started, it felt like I wasn't sure I could walk up them after working out to leave...now I'm already flying up those stairs. - I looked in my car mirror and was happy to see my "swollen moon face" from my thyroid issues has come way down and I can see my cheekbones wanting to make an appearance woo hoo

So, one of my co-morbidities was blood clots and two pulmonary embolisms (emboli?) sitting in my lungs. Went to the pulmonologist today for a quick check up and he cleared me for the clots and the emboli, saying that they should not repeat (because they were caused by being sedentary after having pneumonia) AND, big whoop here, he took me off of coumadin!!! Between him and my surgeon, they told me that I also don't have to take lovinox injections when I go in the 20th to have my blood clot filter removed!!! So, I get to quit taking one med, and avoid taking 14 shots of a drug that leaves me bruised and hurting!! Yippee!! That, along with 33 pounds lost, made my day!!! Oh, and the pulmonologist cleared me for "any exercise the weight loss surgeon approves"!!! I'm a happy camper today. In one week, I get to start lifting weights and I can up my exercise to include the recumbent bike and the elliptical!!! I know, too many exclamation points and smiley faces, but I'm trying to convey how thrilled I am!!!

Killian's Gastric Sleeve Journey
Killian replied to Killian's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Had my 2nd Pre Op appointment. Had blood taken, stood in front of an x ray thing and swallowed sweet chalky water. Was told I lost 21 pounds since just following the Nut. I have no problen loosing the weight it is keeping it off is the problem. I had to fight every urge not to stop at Taco Bell to "celebrate". Took everything I had to drive past. Even had my turn signal on and changed my mind at the last second. I have lost 21 pounds and not many people noticed. Lol..that is ok. I have alot NSV's- pants fit better..I am on the last hole in the belt, wedding ring comes off easily now... -
I got my first fill yesterday and I can tell the difference today. It took me 40 minutes to eat about 2 oz of meat and a tablespoon of green beans. I started out eating a little too fast and FELT IT!! OUCH! So, I've learned that I MUST chew chew chew!!! The restriction has officially begun! It makes me a little nervous to eat now, I'm sure that I will get used to it. I have to say it's amazing to me to take a piece of meat that before the band would have been two bites, and turn it into a complete portion and still not be able to eat it all. CRAZY!! I'm loving it though. I worked out hard today, it felt good. An hour of cardio, then 30 minutes of weight lifting then a two mile bike ride. I feel energized! I've officially RETIRED my size 16's!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited; and to be honest my 14's aren't going to be around long, they are already a little big. Way cool. The weekend is here and should be a good time. I've got to go SHOPPING!! Need to find something to make HOT Greg notice me. So, I'm off...

New Member and Surgery is Sept. 15th
Marienola replied to Marienola's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you so much Steve for your reply and encouragement! You know - talking about the NSV's...I travel a lot for my job and one of the things I have hated is getting on an airplane and praying that I didn't have to ask for a seat-belt extension! I know that sounds silly but it is always so embarrassing - I even have it down to a science that MD80 airplanes seatbelts are not as long at 747's...lol! So I always check and see what type of plane I am flying on so I know whether to dread it or not! I also always take window seats so I can lean as close to the window as possible so I won't crowd anyone...I know to some people that may seem silly - but just one of those things. So my next flight is in January - can't wait to see how many inches of seat belt I can pull through the buckle! LOL! I hate pictures of myself now, so hopefully that will change soon! Congratulations on your very successful journey and thank you so much for the advice!! -
The sizes probably have to do with how there bodies are proportioned. I dunno! When I was 160 (years ago) I wore a 10. Im now at 202 and in a very loose bout to fall off my butt 16. I read on the forum that you lose a size around every 15 lbs so that sounds about right for sizes. Myself personally, I dont want anyone to see my "jelly rolls". Ive gotten good at hiding them over the years. Everyone except my closest friend that has seen my jellyrolls always said my size was proportionate with my body frame. BS I say! When I got back from HI (gone 12 days) my best friends eyes bout popped out her head. I only lost 6 more lbs while I was gone but apparently the size finally started dropping. Talk about a feel good moment. She said OMG, you lost a ton while you were gone, you look so good! its so nice to hear those things NSV*** Neither of my teenage boys know what I did. I have had bleeding stomach ulcers for years and they think those were repaired. My oldest (16) has a BIG mouth and no concept of social boundries so I didn't tell them. I have only told my parents my baby brother, but not the older one (his wife is a b***h and he would tell her) and my 2 closest friends. Anyway when we got home from HI I noticed my oldest son kept looking at me funny. finally he said, are you losing weight or something? Haha! I said yea it was all that hiking and dieting Im doing! Sweet!

Had my 3 week postop yesterday and he said everything looks perfect! YAY He said I can pretty much have anything that dont require chewing 30 times to swallow, and to quit stressing so much about not being able to tolerate the Protein Drinks. Although he would like to see me @ 60-70g a day, he is more concerned that the majority of my nutrition come from Protein. I told him I was pretty much living off scrambled eggs, (2 a day) because I was pretty scared to try much else because Im terrified of a leak. He reassured me that the chances of that are very slim, to use good judgement and not to worry so much, that I had followed all the rules up till now so obviously I had it under control. He cleared me for a cup of coffee, and said I can have a diet coke in 2 more weeks. I asked him about carbonation stretching out the sleeve, and he said that is totally not true just to sip it slowly as it may make me gassy/burpy. He was very pleased about my 29 lb weight loss, and told me the stall I went through was totally normal, and sometime happen frequently so no stressing about it, just keep on keeping on, the weight will come off. His goal weight for me is 120, and I told him I was 130 when I graduated HS and was very slender. He said 130 is fine, but 120 will allow the 7-15lb bounceback around 3 years and still keep me in a normal BMI. All in all, a very good post op! Im going today to get me some shaved deli meat, sounds delish! NSV~~~went shopping yesterday for a few things for Hawaii, I didn't have to shop in the "womans" section, got things from the ladies section, I have went from a 18W to a loose 16 pants, and a XXL shirt to XL!!! WooHoooooooo!
