I'm sorry about your mom. I will keep you in my thoughts. Congrats on the NSV, although I wish it had come at a less sad time.

Need Encouragement - No Weight Loss For 4 Days
Lissa replied to Michell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Michell, Everyone here is right. That three week stall is a bugger!! Just keep doing what you know you have to do: work on getting in your Protein and your Water, walk as much as you can, do a little light weigts for your arms (to avoid the jiggle arms) and don't worry about it. I'm a classic control freak, but I've found that I have to let go of what I can't control here and let my sleeve do it's job. I'm on MFP as well (Lissa912 if you want to friend me) and, at two months and three weeks out, I've lost nearly 60 pounds. I've been floating between 295 and 299 for over a week, but I didn't let it frustrate me because my clothes were getting bigger and bigger. Have you read about NSV's yet? Those are Non scale Victories. Check out that thread in success stories and definitely keep your eyes open for them. It makes letting go of the scale obsession so much easier when you start seeing all the other positive things that happen besides dropping pounds! Good luck on your journey!! -
Congratulations! A wonderful SV and NSV at the same time!

When I first started this journey, I could not walk one block without needing to stop due to back pain and breathlessness. Today, I walked 2.7 miles. I was slow -- it took me an hour and 16 minutes -- but my back held up, and I felt really good and grateful the whole time. Anyone else have any non-scale victories to share?

i had a NSV today! i bought this reeeally cute dressy trench coat like 6+yrs ago. when i bought it, it was really snug but it still "fit". i figured id lose more weight & itll fit good. then i gained weight & literally couldnt put an arm in the sleeve. well, i just tried it on & it FITS!!! like its even a lil big but asize smaller would be snug. im like so shocked right now. it feels good to know that im doing what i set out to do!

last week i fell at the curb leaving Kohl's i reallllly hurt luckily my ankle moved 'in"/twisted a bit, but all will well!!!! i am hurt and sore all over though so whats my NSV ???? unfortunately i have fallen before in similar situations it always took 2 people - with allll their strength to pull me up its hard to lift 235 lbs of dead weight now it only took 1 person to pull me up guess 130 lbs is much easier to "tug" at hubby came "running" from the parking lot toward me after i was already up after all was said and done, and i we were driving home my DH jokingly said something like "see what happens when you do soooo much shopping at Kohl's?" ********************************************************************* dr wanted me to get x-rays "just in case"........... i remember when i had WLS, and they handed me my gown...........i prayed it was big enough to cover all me what was i thinking??? they ONLY had big sized, cuz of course us big girls were having weight loss surgery this time iwent into the changing room, they had a regular sized gown that "normal" people wear could have been a model showing off how great i looked No NSV is too small all/any new experience is great my good life continues to get better and better At times i do on purpose remember sad things from my past that way i'm reminded how wonderful life is now one happy camper!!!! kathy

I have been posting so long here that I actually thought of my community here before I thought to call a friend, lol. I am married and happily, commitedly so - so please do not take what I am am getting ready to say wrong - he knows and he feels so bad for me too, which just makes it worse. Circumstances came together a few days ago to require an old, dear, special friend to need a place to be for a few days. We had not parted in the best way, so I was very suprised that they called - but they remembered I promised them they would never be without a home if they needed it. I meant it and so for the first time in a very long time we got to see each other. They were just amazed at the way I looked and could not stop talking about how tiny I looked... ...nothing else... ...and they worked out their issue, and are back on their way. I am not even sure what I am trying to say, which is why I am airing it out here, I guess. I am very glad they got to see I was feeling and looking better - and there was some vanity in it - but not in a negative way. Afterwards there was a tremendous sense of let-down. If I can't express it, how can I deal with it? Is there anyone out there that understands this? I am not trying to create a drama-thread, this isn't a jerry Springer thing! I would however, appreciate any insight anyone can provide. It seems to be that I am sad not because I miss my friend or anything - I seem to get this way sometimes now when my weight loss isn't 'fixing' things. I think maybe because I have focused on my surgery and weight loss for twelve months now...???

I just wanted to share a female NSV I had today. When I was young and thin I always knew when I was ovulating. I would get a little cramp in my abdomen and get a couple light pink spots. I also felt bloated for a few hours. If I counted I would see I was at my ovulation date. That all stopped when I got heavy. I still had my period but never felt ovulation. I am assuming I was though. I felt it today! I used an online calculator and sure enough today is my ovulation date. Not trying to get preg but it is still kind of cool to feel your body working right again!

Major Nsv...at Least For Me It Is!
Watchershrink83 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hey, hey, hey...everyone! This is the only place I can post this and someone will totally understand why I'm so happy. Today the hubs and I decided to make it a movie night. We had a busy afternoon, therefore this evening we just wanted to chill. My hubby decided that he would order pizza for dinner. Now in my last post I explained how pizza is my kryptonite, so when he said pizza my mouth immediately started to Water. Anywho, the pizza arrived smelling supa (my version of super) delicious and I couldn't focus for a few minutes! However I am ecstatic to report that I didn't have a single slice!!! I'm doing my happy dance as I'm typing this. I'm even more excited because this triumph comes on the eve of my fist fill. Woot, woot! I had to share this because my biggest battle with weight loss happens between my ears. Tonight was a major victory for me. And on that note, have a splendid evening everyone. -
The Scale Is Not Moving Grrrrr.....
chichigirl replied to mayflower419's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's like the old saying goes, misery loves company. But for fear of sounding like Pollyanna, at least we have all the wonderful people here who truly do understand our hurts, frustrations and disappoints. Even more importantly, we have all these wonderful people to share our joys, highs and triumps as well. It is truly a remarkable time when we discover that not only are we feeling and thinking the way we do, but that there are others who share the exact same feelings and thoughts. And I think that's one of the biggest NSV's we could ever ask for, new friends who know how we are feeling and we know how they are feeling and we can all simply understand, no judgement, just unconditional acceptance. Just like the rest of you, I am terribly excited over having found this sight and I am really enjoying learning about each of you through the different threads. You are all wonderful, loving, caring, and funny people, and I fit in!!! Isn't that great?! We all fit in. Take care Cindy aka chichigirl -
Who's has experienced a New NSV Lately ?
highland replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations Trish! I will get the results on my first A1C since surgery on Tuesday. I am really excited to see as my last was 8.1 taking 300 units of insulin daily!!!! With my VERY low carb diet I have cut my insulin to about 90 units a day!! Doc isn't sure I'll ever turn it completely around - but a girl can dream can't she? My big NSV this weekend is that I shopped til I dropped Saturday and Sunday and did not step foot in the plus size section. Not everything fit, however I managed to put a pretty good dent in my pocketbook!! So happy! -

Congrats to all the NSV's. The main thing I noticed lately, is not such a NSV as a oh goodness. But I had to be unfilled recently, and gained a few lbs. But, what I noticed is when you are fat, the few lbs don't show quickly on your clothes. When you are in a small top and size 8's, a few lbs make a BIG difference! I noticed it, and so did my daughter. Haha! I now know that I will have to watch my eating in order to stay in the small sizes. It makes a big difference, quickly!!! Karen -

What has been your "Wow" moment since you started your weight loss journey?
Jachut replied to ousooner's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thinking "I'll just run for a little bit, see how far I get" and running 4kms, I was like a mad thing after that, Doug couldnt calm me down. It really really hit me then how much my health had improved. That's been my biggest wow/NSV. I had one the other day too though, I was cleaning out the cupboard, looking for stuff to sell on ebay and pulled out a pair of pants that I'd bought a year ago in the winter sales. I couldnt even get them past my thighs back then, yesterday I zipped them up. It just hit me that I have gone down sizes and sizes! I'll be wearing then on the beach for our holiday in September. Finishing a fun run in the middle of the pack, 4kms in 31 minutes was pretty darn good too. -
NEED ADVICE/GUIDANCE/HELP!!!!
SleeveToBypass2023 replied to Tabreto1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You look great and have made fantastic progress. You have nothing to worry about. What you want to look at are your NSVs (Non Scale Victories). Here are a few of mine: I was able to fit in normal sized chairs at doctor's offices and the movies I was finally able to properly cross my legs when sitting My clothes were getting looser and not fitting as snugly I was able to wear 18" necklaces and they didn't fir like a choker My ring size went from a 10 to a 6 I could sit at a booth in a restaurant and there is plenty of space between my stomach and the table and I wasn't squished up against it I can wear bracelets and anklets now I am no longer diabetic, no longer have painful joints, no longer have high blood pressure, and am off all the meds for those issues When the scale isn't doing what we think it should be doing, look to your NSVs. That's what REALLY tells the tale with what your body is doing. Now, having said that, you gotta get back on your bariatric diet and re-dedicate yourself to it. The trick is to not undo all the progress you made. For me PERSONALLY, I can't let things like holidays and birthdays and special occasions be an excuse to go off my diet. I know that if I do, it'll be 10x harder to get back on track. So I make sure ahead of time that I have things I can eat that are compliant with my diet and still taste really good and allow me to be included with everyone else. Just keep that in mind going forward and you should do great. -
I had to buy a new coat today! My old coat is a Women's 2X and is now completely too big for me. I tried on several different styles and ended up getting a long black wool coat in a SIZE 12!!!! I am so tickled, I love this darn band!!! It is so great to shop in regular sizes and have so many choices!!! Just wanted to share a happy moment!

Ladies - What Size Clothes to Cross Your Legs?
clarityseeker replied to JulieNYC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thin people totally don't get how big of a deal this is to us. I started at 18/20 and am now 14/16 (3 months from surgery). I can comfortably cross my legs now. One direction is more comfortable than the other, though. I try to remember not to sit too long like that because it really isn't the best way to sit for circulation and stuff, but when I am somewhere that I have to sit and my legs can be seen, it's really cool to be able to cross them in a ladylike way! Truly one of my first big NSV's.
