    Scared...gastric Sleeve Surgery

I think it's totally normal. I am having mine a day after you and while I am not terrified, I am alternating between nervousness, fear of complications, fear of losing my food, and excitement and thinking about hopeful NSVs. Then I have the thought that I will be like the ONE person for whom this doesn't work... Just keeps rotating, I feel really self-absorbed!!!
  2. I love being able to fit into old clothes! I have a huge pile in my closet full of clothes I "outgrew". WTG on this awesome NSV!!!

3 Weeks Into Lap Band Journey, Nsv

I was too embarrased to list my only other NSV, but here goes: For the 1st time in a while - my boobs stick out further than my belly LOL
  4. At the beginning of my journey my BMI was 47.4 - as of today, 3 weeks later - it is 44.5!! This is a great NSV for me!!!! I want to be healthy and live long enough to aggravate my children's children
  5. No I can't eat anything. I can have pureeds. I ordered a Soup that was crappy and ate 2 bites and was full whilst he is eating loaded yummy nachos and slurping down delicious looking soda! I just wanted to dig in. I also ordered some chicken quesadillas, (as I mentioned earlier I am a cheater) and well the chunks of chicken were too big to eat but I did manage a few bites. It was our first time out to eat. It was super hard and very depressing. Not to mention I look around the restaurant and I wonder why I was so worried about my weight in the first place, almost everyone there was overweight and larger than myself. I started doubting myself and this whole decision. I always think I could have done this on my own and then I could have had a damn cheat day if i wanted! Then I look at my super awesome 2 year old daughter who is my motivation for all of this and things always seem a bit brighter. I can't imagine her being made fun of her whole life for being overweight like I was. I tend to think if I am overweight she will think it is okay to eat and be overweight like me. I DO NOT want that for her. Exercise does indeed help, I will admit the first few times or even weeks totally sucked for me! I try and briskly walk anywhere from 3-5 miles a day on my treadmill. Like I said I have cheated and it wasn't worth it. I am supposed to be on pureed's. I have had mac and cheese, I have had chex mix, I have had chips, I have had cheese, I have had quesidillas, I have had popcorn, I have had peanut M&Ms, I have been a BAD sleeve patient. BTW that was all the things I ate just YESTERDAY! I tend to think I know everything and my surgeon is just babying me. Well now here I am wondering if I stretched my sleeve, wondering if I will have a leak, and I'm telling you I felt like complete crap after eating those things. My stomach was bloated, I got sweaty, I had to lay down, and I didn't get my Protein or liquids in for the day. It was so not worth it for me to advance. I would call your surgeons office about the support group meetings, if you havent already. Otherwise on here they have a ton of local groups and although I'm not entered in any I'm pretty sure they get together from time to time. It sounds like you are losing weight too, I ended up cheating because of the fact I hit a stall for so long and I got mad and ate food. Congrats on your weight loss and all of those NSV's. Time will pass and hopefully things will be better. I tend to think since I can't change what I have done I better just try and make the most of it. Keep up that exercise and the weight will melt off.

    1 Month Post Op

Those are some awesome NSV's! I hope those late nights and weekends get easier as you continue to gain more will power. It's great that you've even been able to at least recognize your threats, now you just have to figure out how to guard yourself from them. Good luck on your journey :-D

Sort Of A Nsv Conquering My "nemesis"

That is wonderful - making those changes PRE-band is a good indicator of how you'll do after! I have not tried any fast food yet, but will keep the Fiesta items in mind if I'm ever in need of some quick meal ideas! I say GOOD FOR YOU on your 1st NSV!!

    First Nsv For Me!!!

Ok...so I know this is probably the lamest NSV ever, but it amused the hell out of me so I thought I'd share. One of my favorite ways to unwind after a long day is with a hot bubble bath. Been super crazy busy for the last few weeks so I haven't been able to have one. Last night I finally made the time and started the Water. Apparently it had been longer than I thought, because when I got in the tub I realized that my butt no longer touches both sides of the tub!!! Woo hoo!! I actually have room, like 3 inches, on both sides!!! Made my whole day.... Thanks for listening, Kelly
  11. Well - I don't think this is a NSV yet. No divorce or breakup is until you are fully recovered. Sad to hear you are dealing with such drama while trying to get the new you down to goal size. Don't let this problem derail your weight loss journey. Easy now to slide into bad habits so be vigilant. Firmly agree with sassygirl advice - find yourself before even considering a new relationship. When my marriage ended (over a decade of marriage) it took me over 3 years fully heal. Oh, I thought I was good and ended up getting used cause I did not believe in myself. Truly am crying for you. Forge ahead but take time to mourn what was, plan ahead, seek a professional to reflect and learn for the bright future you know can make a reality. Hugs.
  12. wow! i am sooooo very sorry that you have gone through this but this is more than a NSV! this is the chance for a whole new life and a healthier life. i too just got out of a long relationship very recent & i invested so much! maybe a good 75% of me & i lost it but atleast i have 25% of me left to possibly invest in someone who is worth it & ill be winning!
  13. So, I got a text message from my DH last night (and that doesn't mean Dear anything!). Text message said, basically, "File our divorce papers now!" We've been separated since June. I came home from the hospital June 3 on 3 kinds of oxygen. He got ticked because I didn't know what was for dinner that night @@ and broke every dish in our house. I moved out a few days later. I've been doing everything I know how to a. get healthier mentally and physically and b. have even gone to marriage counseling with him, which was useless because he thinks everything is ALL my fault. He's an alcoholic, which he hid from me till after we got married. Now he's in full bloom again. I guess we just weren't meant to be. So, to keep this on topic, can I count this as losing 180 pounds of unnecessary crap in a hurry?
  14. Everyone has a food vice, some chocolate or pizza. Mine is Taco Bell. I closet ate the stuff like it was going out of business. I travel a lot and made sure to stop there whenever possible. During my pre op self choice of a diet, I was coming home tonight and I decided I had a craving. I've been pretty good and lost about 15 lbs in two+ weeks thus far. When I got in there I had a huge feeling of guilt. I decided to do something I've never done... Order a salad (Fiesta chicken salad to be specific). I didn't know what was on it so I just said no shell. Amazingly it was the best thing I ever ate there! (I typically have much better taste in food, but I don't know why but I love it there). I couldn't even finish it! I ate about 3/4 of it and decided to see how crappy it was on myfitnesspal.com, and the whole thing was only 400 calories (cheese and sour cream included, which I'll ditch next time)! My old taco bell outings when I calculated them were about 2000 calories, now I left feeling awesome with a better tasting product for about 300. I know it may sound stupid, but it was a big light for me. When I get banded next month, it can easily be converted to band friendly by ditching the little bit of rice they add. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post. But I was quite happy.

    Nsv I Think?

So I just decided to walk 2 miles. I'm in Florida and the weather is beautiful! As I'm walking my pants are falling down. So I reached for the drawstring in the front and WTHeck? no drawstring. So I felt around the back and realized I had my pants on backwards. No wonder the landscaping guys were looking at me funny huh. Well I see it as a NSV. What do you think?
  21. NSV!!! I washed my hair this morning and NO HAIR fell out at all!!! Whoohooo!!!

  22. That 3 week stall is a PITA for sure! You are doing everything right and the weight will start coming off again. Look for the NSVs when you hit stalls. My experience has been that I lose inches when I am not losing pounds. You lose weight, then your body has to adjust things before you will lose more. Two weeks ago, I was bouncing up and down the same 5 pounds, but my pants got so loose they fell off. Now I'm losing between half and one pound a day again. It WILL happen and the stall WILL break.
  23. So today I went back to work after 4 weeks & 28lbs... one of my coworkers (male & a great guy) walked up behind me and said, "Geez, where did the other half of your ass go" LOLOLOLOL It was so funny, but made me feel good! He is one of my best friends at the office & the only one that could say something like that & not piss me off... Just had to share! G

    NSV shout outs

Oh, I had an AWESOME NSV today!! I am laughing at myself because this meant so much, but, Oh Well!! I do contract work for builders, so I travel to their sales centers fairly often. At one, there is a really sweet guy there (I think he's gay, but...) and I hadn't seen him in about 3 weeks. Today I was standing in the back room making copies and he walked into the room, stopped, did a double take and said "You look positively skinny today!" I really don't look "anything" skinny, but it was such a nice morale boost to me! ::::sigh:::: It's the little things.
