Stalling so soon????
coops replied to Classiladi13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Classiladi, yea me too... I hit the stall and then some... it started to come off again slow but sure... try not to worry too much - although easier said than done!! And I agree it is really frustrating... whilst I was in my stall I tried to focus on the positive stuff ... the NSV etc, that helped me get through it. Good luck, and I am sure it will break soon x -
Hey, all, it's time for more NSVs! Especially if you're feeling down after the holidays. Good time to remember the non-scale victories. I went to have a medical test done recently and the nurse gave me a regular size gown! I was so happy!! :frown: I always hated how the nurses would look me up and down, then go to the other shelf to get the big gowns. And then, even worse, if the big gowns didn't close... ooh. Also! I have very fat hands and big fingers (look at Rosie O'Donnell's hands, and those are mine), but I can now see the bones in my hands!!! For years, if I made a fist, my knuckles didn't stand out. Now I can see them again! Wheee! :frown: This is a very big thing for me, because I got teased about it when I was in grade school, and it always stuck with me. So... let's hear some of your good news!

I've had a few great nsv lately. 1 - I went to my daughter's open house and I could sit comfortably in the desk. Previous years this has been a stresser for me because I was just too big to sit at them. 2 - Buying size 18 jeans and loving the way they are making me feel - only bought a few because I don't plan on staying there long. (Started at a size 28). 3 - Being okay with sitting at a booth at a restaurant. Before it was always a table because my tummy would be pressed against the table. There are so many more but that's a few that help remind me of the life change I've made.

Ok, since I'm having a plateau week, I need to remind myself of some NSVs to keep me going! Come join me -- tell me yours! :sneaky: Here's one of mine -- I can wear heels again!! And I love it! Now, granted, I'm not wearing 4" spikes like I used to in my early 20s, but I'm no longer living in my Crocs, either. :frown: Never thought I'd ever be able to do that again. Hooray!
-
YES! I totally agree! And congrats on your other NSVs, also.

I had a great NSV today! :cursing: My 11 yr old niece came to spend a couple of days with me since we are both on break. We haven't seen each other since Christmas Eve. The minute she saw me, she stopped dead in her tracks and said, "Whoa! You got skinny!"

Wow, Ann and Mamadot, You are both super stars! That's exciting for both of you. My latest NSV is that I had forgotten about my old rings from many years ago. They all fit again. It's like getting all new jewelry. Gaye

Just getting this thread started again, as I KNOW there are several NSV's that we can celebrate in our 2nd year of banding! My family just returned from a very active trip to Sequoia, Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite - many steep, long hikes to waterfalls and to see the beautiful giant Sequoia trees, as well as canoeing and swimming. I felt like I did 20 years ago - I kept up with my fit Husband and two young sons (7yrs & 8 yrs - very active) and felt GREAT! A few weeks back I water skiied (single) for the first time in 10 years - I felt like a teenager! It just feels so good to actively participate in life again, instead of sitting on the sidelines or vegging in front of the TV, mindlessly eating and lethargic! I'm still training for a 5 mile mud run in a couple of weeks, and I can't believe I can jog 3 miles without stopping. I hope all of you are enjoying your new bodies and associated health benefits too!

This week has been busy; first off, I had a scare Sunday afternoon, while experiencing a sharp cramp pain in my right calf muscle. Further signs led me to believe I was experiencing Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) or blood clots in the legs. As described early on in this thread, I was diagnosed with multiple pulmonary emboli (blood clots in the lungs), caused by DVT's. So I spent yesterday in the ER, only to find out that what I was experiencing was a deep muscle pull... a heating pad last night alleviated that discomfort. Also yesterday (Monday), I had a much sought after NSV, in that I am now wearing a size 46 pant. At the start of the march I was stuffing myself into a size 52, now I am comfortably wearing a size 46. To that, I have dropped 48lbs from 325 to 277. The date escapes me at the moment, but visit #6 is later this week, so more when I know more.

I was a 26/28 top and a 24 bottom, I now wear 20/18 bottom and 22 tops. My closet is empty, my cloths dont fit. I gave them to Goodwill. I'm a school bus driver, I no longer zig-zag down the bus asile. I can actualy walk stright down the asile and dont bounce between the seats. And my belly doesnt touch the steering wheel. I have more energy! OMG! I sleep better, I sleep like the dead! I dont snore anymore and my back no longer hurts in the morning. And the best NSV, my dd hugs me and tells me "Mommy, I can wrap my arms around you when I hug you." Thats the best one of all. Tina

Congrats on all your NSV's!! I was size 22 now down to 18 and can even fit into 16 in some styles. I have not been that small for at least 9 years. I can actually run now. Never have I been able to run during a workout. The biggest NSV for me will be when I can get on my horse without using a fence, or mounting block. That will be a changing point in my life. I am still struggling, but maybe another 6 weeks and it will happen for me. :w00t:

New fitness NSV's - My buddy and I ran for over 3 miles again, she said we were around a 5K. Also, I ran a mile by myself at the gym on the treadmill and it was no big deal, I wasn't even winded and part of it was done on incline! And my third fitness NSV - I did a crossfit class and it was awesome! I wish it wasn't so expensive or I would become an immediate devotee =)
-
jm---I did it! Week 1 of Couch to 5k. I actually RAN! or Jogged! Major NSV for me. Wasnt that bad either. Jelly legs afterwards. Then did 50 mins swiming 42 laps.

April Bandster Bunnies - where are you?
AlottaBS replied to Froggie D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all ! I was banded 4/20/10 and have lost 40 lbs since /2/10. NSV is my A1C for my diabetes went from 7.3 in Feb down to 5.9 which is in the normal range. My meds went from 2000 mg to 500 mg and expect to be off diabetes meds in a few months. Blood pressure was even in the low range. I'm off the other 3 meds I was on. I'm excited. Sounds like we're all progressing at our own pace. Keep up the good work everyone. -
she has a nsv page?? some of mine are WAY too gross for pictures.. lol Its an awesome idea~~

so here I am, four days post-op. I'm mouthing around a cold sf popsicle, propped up by pillows. I've had 80g of protein thanks to the powders sent home with me by my surgeon. I hope Im done taking the liquid vicoden as it tastes horrible and gives me trippy dreams. Painful hiccups, seriously painful, and more pain with plain water than with anything else. Thank goodness for popsicles. Haven't begun taking my vitamins yet, any thoughts on that? I have a gummy multivit and a B12 complete. I went out to dinner with family tonight and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them eat and smelling the aromas, felt zero emotions of being left out etc. Am now sipping very cold lemon squirted homemade chicken broth, yum!! Surgeon used glue instead of stitches so that pulls and scratches a little, hurts after I stand up as things fall into place, painful hiccups, and can't sleep on my stomach which is turning out to be the most difficult thing of all. Any word on when we can do that? Haven't weighed myself yet, don't see a point, it's only been 4 days and any weight loss right now will just reflect the fluids and gases from the surgery. When I get back to work I will have an opportunity to weigh myself. I can wait a month! I am still wrapping my brain and emotions around the fact that I did this, it seems unreal, and then all too real. I've had the emotional tearful "what have I done to myself" moment, haven't had any NSV's yet - rings aren't loose yet. Just taking it day by day and trying to rest. Think I'll go chew a pepcid. Thank you everybody for letting me speak!! And where to I go to get one of those ticker thingies? :tongue_smilie:

How has the Lap Band impacted your marriage or relationships?
TracyinKS replied to sphynxmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
J: I had to say.. I was really touched by your post...... wow.. what an NSV for you. As for me.......... I am happier and because of that those I love are happier.... DH loved me no matter the size but he does love my butt and the way they look in my size 12 levis..... no I'm not small... but I do look good, and more importantly I FEEL good.... The sense of control I feel is priceless and that too has a way to shine through your soul......... I look nicer in my clothes and I walk with my head held high instead of deflated and pissed off at myself at what I had become......... I kind of worry that I'm getting to a complacent stage in my weight loss... (onederland) but thank goodness the band is here to remind me that I still can't eat that half a pizza! LOL I will not lie....... it was hard for DH to get used to me eating so little.... early in our journey.... I would get really p.o.'d because he DARED be offended that I only ate a cup of Soup, or when I took issue with paying full buffet price for so little food..... (yikes the arguments) Heck it was even hard for the boys to see me only eat 1 plate of food... they would be "THATS ALL????" I too would mourn the loss of quantity.. now I just think its sad...... I have grown.... now when at a buffet I look around for the skinny people and notice that they are NOT gorging themselves...... they are eating smaller portions and nobody is even paying attention........ so in that I am now the normal one...... THANK YOU TO MY BAND! DH is now used to me eating 1 taco or 1 bowl of chicken tortilla soup while he puts away an entire order of fajitas, a basket of chips and more than not....... desert later that night...... my meals are alacarte and cheaper.... he now notices those rare times when I am loser and can seemingly eat more than normal............. He jokes that he knows more about my bodily functions that he ever cared too... LOL but all in all we have grown as a couple, and he is not threatened that I will leave him behind. -
Another NSV I thought of today. I haven't asked my husband to rub my feet, or my back since about 3 weeks after surgery! They don't hurt anymore! 28 lbs down & 6 weeks post op tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, my back may hurt a little during the day, but not like it did before, and my feet certainly don't hurt like they used to!
-
Great idea for a thread! Gee, for me simply allowing my picture to be taken is a huge NSV in itself!
-
Yes, that's my Swavarski (sp?) Crystal Slumber shirt! Look at 'er go! My next NSV picture will be a picture auditioning with Paula, Randy and Simon for next year's American Idol. Yep, I'm too old. Nope, can't carry a tune either. But that's my next goal.
-
ok, so here's MY NSV picture. Me and the 2 little ones AND the dog - on the 4 wheeler. Marcus snapped the pic then jumped on. What a zoo. Only thing that wouldve made it better... if we wouldve been in a mud field! yeehaw!
