  1. As @SmolGojira says, there are lots of factors that will influence how much loose skin you have on your face & your body. But there are non invasive & minimally invasive things you can do to help to a degree if you aren’t happy. First, give your body a chance to resettle after you’ve lost your weight. It can be quite amazing how your body almost reshuffles your remaining fat after you’re reached your goal. In maintenance you’ll be eating a broader range of nutrients including more carbs (multi/whole grain low processed carbs) which help too. Initially I had lots of fine lines running down from under my chin. I did a series of RF treatments & with time & a broader diet most disappeared. This year I had some filler into the sides of my face in front of my ears where I had hollows totally empty of fat & that gave a slight & natural looking lift to the marionette lines around my mouth. I’ve also had one session of derma pen to help with acne scarring but will be transitioning to the combined dermal needling & RF instead which supposedly is more likely to provide skin tightening. I also have dysport/Botox but that’s for my vanity wrinkles - LOL! You can try taking collagen & silica. But like derma needling, topical or ingested collagen will still take about 3 months for you to see any effects (the natural skin cycle). Topical skin products like hylaurinic acid, Vitamin C, collagen oils & such can help make your skin, brighter, plumper, even out skin tone & texture & generally give you a healthy glow which will somewhat distract from any laxity you may have. I believe the effects of many of these will depend on you - your genetics, how your body processes/absorbs them & how much your skin is in need. One bonus of the weight loss was the deep lines that encircled my neck (fat creases) are barely visible in some light. Best is I have a jaw line, cheek bones & visible eye lids (hooded lids no more), my neck is longer & thinner & I look like me because my face isn’t distorted by fat. Before you do anything though, educate yourself. Be informed on the possible benefits & side effects. Don’t get caught up with what a beauty therapist is selling, influencers are promoting or latest fad. I started seeing a cosmetic physician this year for my treatments & I appreciate her honesty & straight talking about treatments & products. She often says don’t waste your money doing that. Sorry for the long post.
  2. Hello everyone, I could really use some input or info on anyone that has experienced numbness of the body. Where was the numbness? Did it progress? What did the doctor suggest and did it clear? I started to experience some numbness in my legs about 3 1/2 weeks ago. The numbness now has progressed to pretty much my whole entire body except for my head everything is numb and it’s to the point where it’s getting a little harder to walk without feeling like I might fall but I’m thankful I can still walk at this point. I don’t really experience much tingling and it’s not painful even though every now and then I’ll get a little shocks when I am sitting crisscross or stretching my legs out. I will say my doctor to test for vitamin deficiencies and I am a little low on two of my B vitamins and iron but we are working to fix that now. I would love to hear from someone who has experienced this or someone who knows about this type of issue good or bad I would just really like some input and ultimately resolution

You will not be alone on thanksgiving for sure. I start my two week liquid diet on 11-14 and will be on it on thanksgiving. I am scheduled 11-28, I think I might be the last one in November that is in this group. I haven't seen anyone posting the 28th or after. I wish you the best, please keep us posted!

    Loving my progress!!!

I finally weigh less than 300, for the first time in 17 1/2 years!! I'm off all 3 diabetes meds, my anti-inflammatory/joint pain med, and my blood pressure med. I do cardio 3 days per week and weight training 2 days per week. On cardio, I'm up to an hour and a half. On weight training days, I'm at right around an hour. Never in my LIFE did I think I could ever be here. I know I need my rest days, but I actually hate taking them LOL I look forward to working out, which is so crazy and foreign to me.

    October 2022 surgery support

I had the gastric sleeve on October 6th and I would say I'm doing fantastic! The hardest part was the first week. It was weird to have zero appetite at all, but the hardest part was the gas pains. In the last month I've lost 34 lb since surgery and I couldn't be happier. Don't be surprised if you hit a plateau for a couple weeks that happened to me and evidently it's extremely common and the more weight you lose the more likely you are to hit a plateau for a while. Just hold on and keep doing the diets. The only thing I'm struggling with is getting exercise into my day as I'm exhausted by the end of the day since I have no carbs, no sugar, no caffeine to help by. Just hold on and know that the pain of the first couple days is only temporary. In the more you walk, the better you'll be. When I was on the liquid diet I loved low sodium broth as well as lots and lots of sugar-free popsicles. They really hit the spot and soothing your throat if it's a little sore from the innovation and also they just feel good when they hit your stomach. Good luck on your surgery! I just had mine on the 6th and I feel fully recovered to the point where sometimes I forget I even had surgery. It's pretty awesome!
  8. 70 lbs in two months is a PHENOMENAL loss - way more than most people And the others are right - a pound or two here and there is likely just water, not true weight. Just weigh once or twice a week - then you'll just see the downward trends and not the day-to-day fluctuations.

    Weight loss stalls

yep - you're in the infamous three-week stall. Happens to the vast majority of us. If you do a search of this site on the "three week stall", you will find over 17,000 posts on it. And no, I am NOT kidding! just stick to your plan and stay off the scale for a week or two. It'll eventually break and you'll be on your way again..
  10. Congratulations on your fantastic loss!! I only weigh once a week.

    Weight loss stalls

3 week stall... it is very common and will pass. If you search it on here you will find TONS of people talking about it. Just keep following your plan.
  12. I had gastric sleeve 5 weeks ago, I have lost weight but for the past 1.5 weeks the scale is stuck. I am following the plan although not getting enough protein. I am moving- but I haven’t started strenuous exercise yet. Anyone have any tips? I have a lot of weight to loss still (almost 100 pounds) although I have lost (including pre surgery lost weight 73). Please and thank you
  13. Those gains aren't anything to worry about as our bodies always gain and lose weight depending on all kinds of things, and it's almost always water. Some weeks I can go up 6lbs in water weight. Which is why I think it's best to check once a week, and if you have a gain which keeps trending up over a month+, chat with your dietician.
  14. In the beginning, I added unflavored protein powder to things I drank and/or ate. 1 yr 3 months later, I still have have problems meeting my protein requirements so I can't stop. So far the only protein shake I like is RTD Koia plant protein shake in chocolate banana. Unfortunately, it is too expensive for me to drink every day, so I still add protein powder to my coffee in the morning. Recently, I like Syntrax chocolate truffle.

    Regretting the surgery

Just remember a week or two of discomfort is worth a lifetime of health that you are gaining. It was a major surgery, pain and adjustments should be expected.

    Regretting the surgery

I didn't have any pain with mine - just some nausea in the hospital which they "fixed" with Zofran in my IV line. That said, I did have "buyer's regret" the first couple of weeks. Once I got through that stage, I never regretted my surgery for a minute. I think most of us regret the surgery at first - but once we're through that immediate post-surgery stage, the regret is long gone. Just hang in there...

    1 Week PO update

As Spartan said, I too got a little worried when you dropped off for a bit. Work will still be there when you decide to go back. I'm scheduled for Dec 5. Plan to take the week and "work" from home for the rest of the month.
  18. Meeting your protein goals is really a "For the rest of your life" thing, just like with vitamins. Which we would have to do even without having the surgery, it's just that now with the surgery, it will be so much harder to fit in all those great nutrients, which is why we need to have more nutrient dense foods to fuel our bodies. The amount you need to eat per day depends on what your Height and Weight is. The good news is that this doesn't have to be in Protein shake form. You can do it just with diet. If you have a dietician, it's worth chatting to them about other ways to get your daily protein in. Some people just find the shakes easier. Others are happy eating it in their daily food. Below are a bunch of foods high in protein, you can make amazing meals with these and get all your daily protein without using shakes 1) Beef Skirt Steak: 26.7 g Protein Per 100 g 2) Chicken Breast: 23.1 g Protein Per 100 g 3) Canned Tuna: 23.6 g Protein Per 100 g 4) Lean Pork Chop: 22.4 g Protein Per 100 g 5) Sockeye Salmon: 21.3 g Protein Per 100 g 6) Lentils: 25.8 g Protein Per 100 g 7) Shrimp: 20.3 g Protein Per 100 g 😎 Sardines: 20.9 g Protein Per 100 g 9) Lamb Chop: 20.4 g Protein Per 100 g 10) Cocoa: 20 g Protein Per 100 g 11) Cod: 17.9 g Protein Per 100 g 12) Cheddar Cheese: 24.9 g Protein Per 100 g 13) Pumpkin Seeds: 18.5 g Protein Per 100 g 14) Beef Jerky: 33.2 g Protein Per 100 g (Dont know if we can eat this) 15) Nutritional Yeast: 50 g Protein Per 100 g 16) Turkey Breast: 24.6 g Protein Per 100 g 17) Parmesan Cheese: 35.8 g Protein Per 100 g 18) Whey Protein: 70 g Protein Per 100 g 19) Dried Squid: 72 g Protein Per 100 g 20) Mackerel: 18.6 g Protein Per 100 g' Then there's also things like Peas, Spinach, Kale, Broccoli, Sprouts, Mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, Edamame, Sweet corn, Winter Squash and Yummy Avocados. Hope this helps
  19. Lifestyle issues: none. I went vegetarian back in 1989, and have been vegan for about 7 years now. Likewise my partner. I've always been a supplement taker, so I've never been anemic or had any issues (outside of eating too much junk food and carbs, of course, leading me here!). Post-op, my labs have been consistently good, so even with the malabsorbtion factor, I've been able to nourish myself well. The only thing any blood test has found was 8 weeks ago when I landed in hospital after a bike accident and the labs showed I was low in magnesium. So I've been taking a mag supplement since then which is fixing that. Never a whisper of kidney stones. It's tough recommending any protein drinks since I'm in Australia and we don't have access to the same brands as you guys over there. The best protein water I've found that's both tasty and not absolutely drowning in stevia is MyProtein's Clear Vegan Protein. I know you can get that one internationally. It's not as much protein per serve as a shake (it's 10g per serve), but since I have to drink a couple of litres of water a day anyway, getting 3 of those in means I've got over half my daily minimum protein intake plus water, so I love the double-up. Other vegan protein waters with higher protein counts that I've tried have either been too cloyingly sweet or just straight up revolting. The MyProtein one is like drinking cordial. Minus the sugar. The Apple & Elderflower flavour is the bomb. Also: vegan protein will absorb as well as non-vegan. I promise it's a myth that you can't get enough protein from plants. Plenty of vegan athletes and body builders can attest! 💪
  20. Hi everyone I had my sleeve last week on Thu 3rd nov and everything has been great with no complications and no side effects until 1 week post op I developed a red itchy rash on my stomach area only no where else on my body. I put the itching down to incision healing but it has gotten worse over night by already across my entire stomach and has kept me up itching like hell!! I have contacted my doctor for advice but wondered if anyone else has experienced this? I still have my sutures and bandages on, they come off on day 10.

    Regretting the surgery

every single person goes thru this... Remember its a major surgery. Its going to take time to heal and get back to normal... The first week is the roughest. but you will get thru it.
  22. I guess your referring to it helping with the hair loss while you are losing weight. This hair loss is just an acceleration of your natural hair loss cycle (hair that was going to fall out anyway) in response to the stress of surgery, reduced calories, restricted diet, weight loss, etc. It’s temporary. Your new hair is still actually growing but just at it’s usual rate. The hair loss tends to start at around months 3 or 4 & lasts about 3 months +/-. (It seems to be the same length of time for those who take all the hair growth vitamins & supplements like biotin too.) It seems to stop around the time you’re eating more & a broader range of nutrients & you’re not as stressed. It most cases, the only person who really notices the loss is you (& your hairdresser 😉). A lot of us cut our hair if it was long during this time. I did it so it wouldn’t take as long for the new growth to reach the length of my shorter existing hair. Plus shorter hair usually looks thicker, bouncier & healthier. But you can always try something like Nioxin if you want. Can’t make it worse.

    Stalls and plateaus

First, stalls happen. They’re part of the weight loss journey. Some have more of them. Some experience ones that seemingly last forever. The thing to remember is they do break. Secondly, the further out your are the slower your rate of loss which make you think your stalling too. If it persists, chat with your dietician. Maybe a tweak to your diet or activity will help. And yes, track or monitor your food. It can be easy to eat a little more than we think or eat something we think is okay but may not be the best at this time. And I’m with @kcuster83, I often find I weigh a little more after I break a couple of days of constipation. It usually doesn’t show until the following day. I wonder if it’s because I’m retaining extra fluid at the same time??? How our individual bodies work can be fascinating (& frustrating).

    Regretting the surgery

YES. The first week was one of the hardest things I've done. Trust me when I say it truly gets better! Your nausea will settle, your body will begin to heal & you will FEEL okay! Hang in there 💜
