So yay! After eight months, I think my sleeve is finally getting more tolerant of wider types of food!!! I used to eat eggs daily pre-sleeve. Since surgery, I have been unable to eat them without experiencing serious pain and the dreaded slimes--no matter how little egg I ate, it would give me the grumbles. I've been trying them off and on through the last months, and I noticed that it was not quite as rough, but I was still not interested in eating something that would cause me pain. Well, today at a restaurant, I ordered hambone gumbo (like ham Soup with collard greens in a rich broth--really tasty, I have to say). It came with a deviled egg in the middle of the bowl--you know, half a boiled egg with the yolk mashed and mixed with something creamy. I decided to give it another try--it was DELICIOUS and it was perfectly comfortable and I ate the whole half egg and some of the soup!!! I know it sounds sort of stupid to be so excited about an egg, but I feel so relieved that my sleeve allowed me to eat that--after months of not being able to eat them without repercussions! Can it be my sleeve is "maturing" FINALLY? Oh, it still restricted my volume, have no doubt of that--couldn't finish the soup!! But the food I did eat, egg and all, stayed comfortably in my tummy and felt GOOD. YAY!!

Aha! NSV makes sense now! I'm with you, blackanese25. I was sleeved 12-8-11 and my pants are falling off me now. I had to go scrounging for underwear this morning because yesterday, they fell down in the middle of a client meeting and I had to excuse myself. Thankfully I had pants on but it was still a strange sensation. -

I think that's a major NSV!!! I am personally an NSV ho. I keep track of them and look for them like a monkey looking for somethng shiny! LOL I've stalled a couple of times, but every time I stall, I find lots of NSVs to concentrate on. Pants and clothes being too big? Oh, yeah, MAJOR NSV! I'd be happy-dancing, and did when I walked out of a pair of pants a few weeks ago. 42 pounds is phenomenal, and it will just keep getting better! -

lol no worries.. and actually congrats to you as well on your nsv! i can't wait to see what i get down to.. im so excited for this journey -
It's hard to choose rewards because they so often require spending money, which is tight in our household. So far I've only set two: 241, which was the weight I was when I started my most successful diet in my life (Atkins). I was 23. For that, I will reward myself with a new haircut (which I desperately need). Next one after that is 212, which was what I got to when I got bored with Atkins and quit. That was what I weighed when I met my partner 10+ years ago. Not sure what I'll do then to Celebrate. Of course, there's always "onderland"... I think it's probably important to celebrate goals and NSVs, but I'm still trying to figure out how to do that without it involving food or too much money. I'm curious to hear what others say!

Congratulations! I'm almost 4weeks out and my tight clothes are soooo comfy now. What does NSV stand for? -
so when i woke up this morn and decided to get dressed i put my usual pants on only for the past few days they just don't fit right .. too loose.. he he he.. so i went into my room to see if i had anything smaller and i pulled out a pair of pants i bought about 3 years ago i wore these pants a total of about 5 times. .i always said one of these days ill fit in these again.. And for shits and giggles, honestly not thinking they would fit, tried them on anyways.... i had lost enough weight so far to wear them... and not just wear them, but wear them comfortably... funny part is.. half way thru the day i realized something.. they were starting to get a little loose which mean i still wont be able to wear these things for long cuz im just gonna keep losing weight... so i called up a friend and asked her if she would like if i set my pants aside for her... lol i think this would be an nsv? right?

That's fantastic about the wet suit. I know you were thrilled. Congratulations on that NSV. When we were getting certified many years ago they had to put so many weights on me when I wore a wet suit or I could not go down unless they did. All my fluff and then the wet suit made me float like a bar of ivory soap! LOL Merry Christmas! GG

I am 7 weeks out and finally (and slowly) adding regular food back into my diet (I couldn't be more excited to finally get a salad LOL). I went through the whole 3-4 week stall and got over it. But my biggest triumph has been the revelation that my relationship with food has changed...and continues to change!!!! The holidays could not be a more perfect a time for this to happen. I attended an office party yesterday and watched my co-workers (large, small and in between pile food onto their plates and into their mouths....and instead of feeling bad about the fact that I was eating so little, I just kept thinking "Wow, that's soooo much food"!!! It's hard to believe that I used to eat like that and it's even harder to imagine eating like that again!! And even if I didn't lose another pound, my new relationship with food makes it ALL worth it!!

13 Weeks Out And Over Halfway To Goal!
SittingPretty posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I can't believe it's just over 3 months and I'm already halfway there! Imagine if I actually added exercise to the program (which I will in Jan)!! I am so excited! I am down to a 12 petite pants and had to buy new clothes Knee pain...gone feet hurting....nope walk up those stairs...YES! I even spent an entire day walking and shopping and never once got winded or tired. I am real close to having prominent collarbones again. Here's the biggie....I can wear my wedding ring again!!! This was my NSV goal! I do have real bad arms though. My arms never grew normally. They had this HUGE "u" shaped fat roll thing real close to my armpit and the rest towards my elbow was not huge. Now that it is shrinking, it is going to leave a long flap of skin I also noticed my butt is looking flat and saggy. Hopefully I can correct the butt issue in the gym. Anyway, I am sooooo happy with the sleeve Merry Christmas Everyone! -
That's great Bonbon!!!! More happy NSV's to come for you!!!!!!! Enjoy this great journey!!!!!

Well....I am pretty sure it has been a month since I was last here. I went for fill four yesterday. I thought fill three was pretty bad. Well fill four has me TIGHT!! I wll truely have to do the liquid, mush and slow solids. I have lost another 4 pounds but better than that I am in a size 16 jeans. So my NSV is more exciting. Hoping and praying all are doing well and have a very Merry Christmas!! -

IMO the first NSV is always the best... because it's living proof it's working!! Congrats, this is always a really good one too. I agree with ShellBear, be prepared your rings will be fallen off ya soon... be careful more like it. You don't want to lose them. -
I just realized I can now take off my wedding ring without using Windex! Lol I had to use Windex to get It off before my surgery on Halloween.

NSV all the WAY! Go You Go You! I want to do that one day but I am so scared! lol.

Just Giving An Update - Almost 4 Months Out And International Travel
Kami replied to Kami's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Puja - where are you in India? I was in Mumbai, with a short trip to Delhi and Agra. 10 day trip in total. To answer your questions, well, I took some Pure Protein Bars with me, and ate one per day. I also ate eggs for Breakfast. I'm pretty sure that some days I was below my Protein still, because there were a couple of meals at a friend's house that were vegetarian. I ate chickpeas and lentils those meals, but those aren't as protein rich as meat, I think. I tried to focus on protein as much as possible, and ate veggies like cauliflower when it was available. Like I said before, I still had rotis and rice and stuff, but just small helpings to tone down the spiciness. When it was available (it wasn't always served) I used raita to tone down the heat. I'm also pretty sure that my calorie counts were above normal (but apparently not more than I burn, maybe 1500-1700), especially the days I ate Butter chicken (YUM!). But I didn't really have a way to log it, and it was just 10 days, so I just listened to my sleeve about when it was full, and hoped that would be enough. I actually wasn't sure if I would lose weight or just hold steady while I was there, but I ended up losing, so that was great. It was a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, and I love Indian food, so I just decided I wasn't going to worry about it. The only time I really had a moment of regret was when I was eating some fabulous butter chicken, and wanted to eat more, but I just savored it as much as I could and then stopped when I got full. likasulema - good luck on your weight loss! I'm sure you'll be able to fit without a seat extender on your next trip. Its the little NSV's like that that really make a difference. -

Hi everyone! I have my first fill on Tuesday and I am super excited because the last couple of weeks have been tough. I did have two NSVs this week though. First, when I started going to the gym 5 weeks ago I could only do 10 min on the eliptical but yesterday I was on for 45 min. My legs were like jelly after but once I walked for a few minutes it was good. Then this morning I tried on my last pair of jeans in the closet. (I've never actually worn them, they were a pair I bought expecting to lose weight but then I got pregnant.) Anyway they fit and I wore them all day! Hooray. I'm so jealous of those of you who have gotten several fills. I am ready for my first one for sure! -
COOL NSV yayyyyyyyyy! Congrats!

Hey, that's a really good NSV. Congrats

We're coming up on our one year bandiversary in a couple weeks so I'm wondering how everyone is doing. Not just weight loss but also NSV's. How has your life improved. What are you able to do this year that you couldn't or wouldn't do last year? For me, I'm down 38 lbs per my last dr's visit but my nsv's are many. I feel better, my lab numbers are in the normal range, I'm wearing smaller clothes, people who haven't seen me in a while do a double take and a gal told me yesterday that I'm a shadow of my former self. I thought I'd be very close to my goal by now but it took me some time to get to the "green zone". Also, I've never been a fast loser and that still seems to still be the case after the band. I'm now losing about a pound a week. I'd love for it to be more but a pound is a pound and my doctor is thrilled with my progress. The biggest thing I've learned is just how little food I actually need. I've always just wanted to be a thin eater and now that's me. I had to get over the portion size idea in my head. I felt ripped off a little when i got back on real food because I simply couldn't eat 3 or 4 ounces of Protein and some green veggies. I can only eat a couple ounces and I'm not always full/satisfied for 3-4 hours but that's ok because I get to eat again later. Such a simple concept but it was a huge milestone. Anxious to hear how you all are doing.

Howdy everyone! The weight is finally "falling off" for me, so I guess I'm in the "green zone" and if I can just remember to not START eating till I'm hungry, I should be good for a while! I had a major NSV yesterday. I scuba dive, and last time I went was in January. I had to hire a men's XL wetsuit and wear a L vest... So DH and I went diving yesterday, and I tried on and rented a M/L - I thought it was a men's size, but it was actually a WOMEN'S M/L. WOAH!!! It was sooooo tight, but there was no way I was going to swap it for a larger size once I got it on!!! Oh, and the vest was an M!

Question About Soft Foods
Lissa replied to illgeturhairdid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Quit watching the scale so closely! Or, at least, quit letting it ruin your day. Yes, it's common to fluctuate from day to day. As we drink more, or eat a little more, it's going to bounce up and down. However, the overall trend WILL be downwards, you can't eat enough NOT to lose weight. Now, with all that said, I am guilty of looking at the scale every day. I just have to make myself not care when it's bouncing up and down. Look for the NSVs and concentrate on them. It will keep you from making yourself crazy. You're rocking that sleeve!!!
