Surgery 2 Days Ago
kahlualouie replied to Fourstarmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery about 2.5 weeks ago. Gas X greatly helped with the bubbly stomach. I still take it. I've also had to take two different PPI's. Post op day 3 I thought I was going to die. I was having extreme nausea and couldn't tolerate any cold or room temperature water. Everything had to be heated up and then I ended up on Reglan. So now, I'm almost 3 weeks. I feel quite a hot better and still on full liquids. My program added bananas, peanut butter, and applesauce this week. Previously, I've been doing the protein shakes, Greek yogurt, strained creamy soup, jello and pudding. Next week I get scramble eggs, potatoes , oatmeal, cream of wheat, cottage cheese. I cannot wait for Tuesday! It will gat better. I questioned myself in whether or not I did the right thing. Still do, but I think that is normal. -

http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ has a ton of recipes for all stages. I ate a lot of egg salad, pureed chili and a little thing I made up that tastes like a tostada... slice of pre-made polenta (available by the eggs) tablespoon of well whizzed taco meat pinch of cheese (nuke it) and top with dab of Greek yogurt dab of guac -

Was just there yesterday. Was very hard to resist some of the pumpkin choices for sure! The macarons were calling my name, but I put them down! I've been playing with their organic pumpkin purée though! Overnight oats with plain 0% fage Greek yogurt, pumpkin purée, pumpkin pie spice and fairlife milk. Pumpkin purée, a small bit of applesauce, ricotta cheese and pumpkin pie spice I did splurge on some pumpkin "o's" Cereal and I actually didn't like t at all--too sweet and not enough pumpkin flavor. My chickens ate it. -
Cottage cheese, yogurt going down too easy?
ssflbelle replied to jackbh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isn't that odd I had 2 weeks of liquids only. I was not allowed yogurt or cottage cheese until week 4. I find even now 17 weeks post op there are many times I can't even finish 1/2 cup of cottage cheese or a cup of yogurt. -
Any Sleevers Who Are 5 - 10 Years Out?
Ailee replied to Lyle S. Tucker's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hell on earth? Basically.. some people's sleeves (mine included at least right now) cannot tolerate certain foods and when they eat those foods it causes immediate and severe diaherria, nausea, (and at least in my case vomitting). I'm talking where you're in front of the toilet and it's coming out both ends for several hours - at least that's my experience with it. However, you can avoid it by avoiding the foods that cause it if you ever experience it. For instance, Right now that means I can't have any ice cream (which is very sad as I love ice cream). I dislike yogurt but I found out that I do like frozen yogurt so I've been eating that to fulfill my ice cream craving (once in a while only!) and it's made it bearable lol. Sometimes dumping syndrome and the foods you can't eat fade over time post surgery for those who have it and sometimes they do not, but it's less common in sleeve patients than in gastric bypass patients. Foods that are likely to cause dumping syndrome include: any sugary foods or drinks, pastas, breads, rice etc. Wow. That sounds horrible. Sent from my Z970 using the BariatricPal App -

mushy/pureed foods
lilbearzmom replied to nicoleco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you like greek yogurt? It is very high in protein- 12 grams for 1/2 cup. Add SF preserves to it along with splenda or stevia- sooo good! -
I'm glad to hear that getting out today helped, Laura! Such a good thing! The Fage 0% that I was speaking of is a plain fat-free Greek yogurt. They sell it in a variety of sizes as well. I use mine for so many things that I always buy a large container.

anyone having feeling of regret after surgery
cajunsweetheart007 replied to toy27's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I will be 8 mths. post surgery on the 27th and I'm down 96 pounds. I am in a 12/14 depending on the cut and manufacturer. There are days when I can eat more than others. I don't snack a lot between meals. I have learned to read labels. I eat a lot of the Greek yogurt 90 cal. and the protein shakes 120 cal. I also rarely eat anything fried. I try to stick to green leafy vegetables, berries and fruit. My back doesn't hurt anymore and I have two ruptured disk. It's hard to swallow all the vitamin supplements, but I just suck it up and do it. I need them and that's that. I don't miss the bread, and I don't crave sweets. It's just trying to find a variety of food I can eat. One thing is for sure when I go to lunch with my co workers I am always taking the majority of the food home to my husband or to eat for dinner. I am looking at loosing another 36 pounds. I have days when I'm down, but the majority of the days are good and getting better as time goes on. You just half to remember that a piece of your body was taken out of you, and it's like having a loss. Also loosing the weight in and of its self is a loss. You had an excuse to hide behind (the weight). As you loose your weight you loose the ability to hide behind it. It's like your out there exposed. I liken it to a person who has been stripped of all their clothing, and they are standing in a room naked. Loosing this much weight is like being naked, your vulnerable, and looking for something to comfort you. That something use to be food. You have to find something that can replace the food, that doesn't have a negative connotation. -
Low fat plain kefir, fat free ricotta, combo pack of three Spanish cheeses, Ezekial Bread, bottled water, Greek yogurt, olive oil, spices, nuts, frozen fish. My favorite store!

For those of you who live more on the west side of the US where Safeway stores are or if your local stores in your area carry Lucerne brands, Lucerne low fat frozen yogurt is absolutely excellent!! I am not kidding. They only make a hand full of flavors but they are fabulous. And the price is so very affordable. I got some today on sale 2/$5.00 and the regular price is $2.99 for the large size which is 1.5 quart. It contains 0.5 grams of fat, 14 grams of sugar, and 4 grams of Protein per 1/2 cup...............WOW!! I couldn't wait to share this info I am currently enjoying the Black Cherry chocolate Chip and it is heavenly. I am 4 weeks post op as of today and so happy to have found this item I couldn't keep it to myself. Lucerne also makes a Chocolate & vanilla. I have emailed the company to see what other flavors Lucerne makes because sometimes not all stores will carry the entire line. I also requested coupons as well. I have uploaded a pic of the item........... ENJOY BARIATRIC PALS Vitamins Form.pdf

Eating Post Op after Gastric Bypass
rubyred138 replied to DimandGirl's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I ate loads of SF popsicles mainly to keep myself hydrated, broth, and my protein drinks. I could also eat 1/2 of a yoplait light or 2 table spoons of no sugar added apple sauce but I would only do those two as my breakfast so I could sprinkle my prilosec & biotin onto them. Jello hurt to eat until week 3. i also didnt start drinking milk until week 3. Basically I stuck to broth water popsicles yogurt and applesauce for 2.5 weeks. It got boring so fast! I was so happy when I could start eating food with flavor & texture! -
2 Tablespoons of Food. Really?
BLERDgirl replied to Slimsoon1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talk to your nutritionist. Goals/nutrition needs will vary not only program to program, but also for men vs women. For the record you are eating what I probably couldn't eat until about 4 weeks out. Even at 6 mths my calories are probably lower than most. That is an odd requirement. I have always eaten yogurt. If my nutritionist told me that we would have to have a really long conversation. I agree, I prefer Fage as a dessert over a pudding with artificial ingredients and fake sugar any day of the week. -
2 Tablespoons of Food. Really?
Jovie62 replied to Slimsoon1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was eating more than 2 tbsp of yogurt in the hospital. Just really slow. Also I was able to have 1/2 to 1 cup of Greek yogurt for a meal. I just ate really slow. You're eating about like I'm eating and I'm sticking to my doctors and NUTs menu to a T. So ni, don't worry, we're just fine! -
????Any May Gastric Bypass peeps????
laurenjane replied to Salonboi's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@@nancynew, I would start with yogurt, cottage cheese, or a blended soup. Going from all liquids to thick liquids was a good start for me. Scrambled eggs and refried beans were okay, but I could only handle about two tablespoons before feeling SUPER full and very uncomfortable. I soon realized that yogurt and soups just slide right through my new stomach and were so much easier to tolerate than thicker, more dry foods. Now I'm nervous to try anything new away from home! Good luck! -
????Any May Gastric Bypass peeps????
cfinch70 replied to Salonboi's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi all Sorry it's been so long since I last posted. I have been doing well, too well in fact haha. I've lost over 200 lbs and my Dr wants me to stop losing and drink high calorie shakes. So to go back, 3 week after surgery i had that contained leak and was doing better after that, then I got cdiff which was caused by all the antibiotics they gave me in the hospital. That was a pain, alot of diarrhea so they gave me more antibiotics lol and I also took prebiotic and ate yogurt and took t ok me to get back to normal. I should say during this whole time I had no appetite at all and had to force myself to eat. The loss of appetite is caused by the cdiff. So in the beginning of September I was getting my appetite back but slowly and this is why I think I lost so much weight so fast. Also during this time my gout kicked in big time and my Dr said I could take naproxen but limited and I also take allopurinol. Well I only had taken 3 naproxen over three weeks then they changed it to celebrex. So in November I was wanting to eat more, I couldnt. I could only eat soft foods or Soup. Mr Dr ordered and upper endoscopy and found the stoma had closed half way due to the nsaids. So they were able to open it back up at the same time and boy does it feel good to be able to eat better. The Dr thinks it might be closing again and to stop the celebrex. The reason why I was still on it was the Dr said that even though it's an nsaid it delivers it in a different way than normal nsaid are in the body. But it should be an easy fix again. Anyway haha that's how I've been, not a bad time. So any good suggestions on high calorie Protein Shakes? Any questions please ask. Haha hope you all are doing well too. -

2 day liquid diet before surgery?!
McButterpants replied to Laura Lopez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All doctor's are different. You can talk to 10 people and all will have different pre-op diets as well as different post-op diets. My instructions pre-op - be caffeine free and 2 weeks prior to surgery, have 3 Protein shakes and 1 meal (4 ounces of protein and a veggie). The night before surgery, the surgeon told my husband and me to go out and have whatever we wanted for dinner. I thought he was joking - he wasn't. He told me I had done great on the pre-op and that the only restriction was "don't go overboard on the red meat and no all you can eat buffets" (we were in Vegas). Post op - my surgeon was very progressive in introducing foods…I could have a couple of tablespoons of "slip and slide" food the day after surgery (scrambled egg, yogurt, anything that would slip off a plate). When I got home from Vegas and had my 2 week follow up with my local doc, I actually regressed to an all liquid diet. You'll do fine - be happy your doc said only 2 days…pre-op diets are very difficult! :-) -

Dinner: ~c.worthy brand salmon filets ( these are delicious and already seasoned) ~grilled tuna ~baked halibut, tilapia or trout ~grilled shrimp I continue to look look for new healthy options, and would love to hear other ideas as well. Good luck! -
Yes, getting the protein in has been difficult. I'm on stage 3 diet so I'm allowed yogurt and ricotta cheese. I'm not a fan of Greek yogurt but I found it's more palatable if I add a little stevia. So two stevia packets to one container of yogurt. Stir. Then at meal time I mix 1 tsp of the yogurt with 1 tsp of the non fat ricotta cheese, I also get sugar free pudding, cream of wheat, creamed soups ect. That gives my protein a little boost. Plus a half a protein shake in between. I also have protein water so I'm trying to make every bite and sip count for my protein. Did they send you home with those little tiny medicine cups? My nurse gave me about a dozen and I'm doing like you. Filling them, lining them up and sipping on them as often as I am able. Have you been able to get out and walk. I just mapped my apartment complex and it's just about a half mile around the perimeter so I'm trying to do one or two laps every hour that I'm awake. Ok, Im not sleeved yet. But love to cook and experiment. I found if you soak wonton wrappers for a few minutes they make a perfect sub for lasagna pasta. I made this a couple nights ago: 1lb ground chicken or turkey 8 wonton wraps 3/4 cup ff cheese (I used jalapeno jack) 1 10oz can enchalada sauce 1/4 cup chopped onion 1 chopped jalapeno (cored) 1/4 cup chopped cilantro 1 small avacado Plain greek yogurt Preheat oben to 375. Brown meat (drain if needed) add onions, jalapeno and cilantro and 1/2 of the enchalada sauce. Soak wontons in a bowl of water while this cooks for about 10 mins. Spray small baking dish w/ nonstick spray. (I used a small 6x6) Carefully layer bottom with 4 wontons with slight overlap. Add a layer of meat mixture, sprinkle with cheese, repeat. Top off with remaining sauce and cheese Bake in oven approx 20 min or until cheese is bubbly and beginning to brown. Top with small amount chopped avacado and a dab of plain greek yogurt. This makes 4 servings for nonsleeved folk. With ground chicken: 278 cal, 28 protein (this is calced with a nonsleeve serving) Sorry no pic..it was a pretty dish and very good..but my son left nothing for the camera. : /
