I LOVE this thread! I've had a few NSV's... Day 5 post op: cleaned out my closet...GOT RID OF ALL the clothes i was holding onto...but wait, it gets better...i thought i had one or two pairs of smaller pants that i kept..you know, those "oh i'll get into that again" clothes...well i kept more than I thought! I have 2 pair of jean capri's, one pair of white capri's, one pair of white bermuda dress shorts, 3 pairs of jeans, and about 20 tops that just before surgery didn't fit..and they all either fit well or almost fit..and they range in sizes of 16-18!!! I was wearing a 22/24...Plus, my shirts were all shirts that i would wear UNDER a sweater or zip up hoodie because they looked bad alone..now i can wear them alone...AND my jean skirt (that's still "in") that I havn't worn in 5 years..the last time i was this size...is loose! Day 7 post op: went to TJ Maxx...i'm now officially a shoe whore! And i went right to the size 8-8 1/2...nope! I'm inbetween a 7-7 1/2 now...so the shoes will have to wait a little more, but I forgot that your feet shrink LOL Day 8 post op: stopped into one of my jobs...a PT job at..well lets call it a beauty/cosmetic/superficial store (lol)...EVERYONE was going crazy..."omg your cheekbones" "omg you already look so small!"..and when I went in the back and tried on my very unfashionable, yet required, jacket that i used to have to suck in to zip...well it zipped and i could roll it in like 2 inches! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy I chose this surgery! Can't wait to hear about other people's NSV's...and to keep posting mine! Barbie (and now I feel like i'll actually start LOOKING like my given nickname)

Ok, so I just had to share my NSV, 'cause it is funny!!! I was at the gym last week hanging by my arms doing my lower ab work out. I was wearing a pair of work out pants that are obviously getting too big, because just as I was getting ready to tuck my knees up to my chest....my pants started to fall down! My workout buddy quickly saw what was happening and helped me out by pulling them up and tightening up the drawstring!! Thanks workout buddy, you're the best!

Jerra, I'm so excited for you! I can't wait to start having some nsv's myself, but I guess I'll be happy with the scale moving for now.

NSV - something I never would have pre weight loss
CowgirlJane posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I recently met some people who are Harley riding hobbyists. They were talking about going on a group ride for charity and it hit me that was something that would be different, new experience to try, but that I also had some fear about. i mentioned that i would be into checking it out and thusly got a free ride on a "christmas toy drive". Well, I was very afraid at first... especially the turns. I realized that my fear was largely based on thinking i must outweigh this guy by a ton, how could he possibly keep the bike stable with my weight throwing things outta wack. We kind of talked through the physics of it all and I realized that I am a normal sized person now and no different then the other passengers he has carried. I borrowed chaps and other gear - and they fit, no stress. Wow, I had this mental image that chaps designed for a woman wouldn't zip over my thighs or buckle around my waist, but they fit just fine. I have been at maintainance since Feb 2013, I wear single digit clothing sizes, and I STILL have those thoughts of being too fat for things.... So we get to the starting place and only then do I realize that magnitude of this event (found out later about 110 motercycles riding together) and that the organizers were flying colors so to speak. oh, okay. Anyway, it went fine, it was mellow, everyone was respectful and safe during the ride and it was a good time. It lasted way longer than I expected, but we donated toys, bought raffle tickets and otherwise supported a christmas toy drive for local families. I know big group rides aren't always fun (I have horses, so similiar experience) since you can't do your own thing, but for me this was absolutely thrilling to ride in a big pack where they stopped traffic and all to let the bikes get through and to mostly enjoy beautiful country roads, small towns and even the short stint at interstate speeds (scary again though!) I am not ready to join a motorcycle gang, but it was a fun event I would have never even dared trying before.... -

Think of all your NSV(non scale victories), make a list to refer and add to when the scale just won't budge or the number just won't drop fast enough. How much better do you feel? Has your mobility improved greatly? How many size pants have you dropped? How many inches have you lost? Your health has already improved a lot!! Have you been able to stop taking any meds? (diabetes, blood pressure). You're doing great and it's only gonna get better! Celebrate it all, not just #'s on a scale. -
SO it will be 2 weeks tomorrow and I am doing great. I have learned a lot such as icecream makes me have chill, sweats and the worst sea sickness ever!! (BTW i would normally not have ice cream but I was stuck at a BaseBall Game with nothing to eat). Anything creamy makes me feel overloaded like I licked raw butter. YUK. I recently found that Isopure mixed with fruitpunch flavored crystal lite is the BOMB! For those who are post op and maybe having problems with going to the bathroom I wanted to suggest CHERRIES. I have been eating a couple cups of fresh raw cherries and it has enough Fiber or something that is making me go. WHICH ROCKS NSV LOL. Just be careful not to swallow the pit as that could really make HUGE trouble. I also found that ground up chicken, hummus and avacado makes a great protien and fiber dip. Hope all is well...:crying:

Congratulations Happy Bandiversary and Great Job on the lifestyle changes.:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Look at your before pictures and look at you now. I'm sure you will find your NSV's. Here is a June post you wrote. New NSV for ME! I about messed my britches a little while ago when I fit in my Mom's size 12 pants! I was able to snap and zip!!!! OMG, I am the happiest thing on this earth right now. I told my mom the other night that I wanted to be in a 12 by this time and low and behold what happened??? My Mom said "Angie you look smaller than me lets try on these pants." I tried them on and they fit. I jumped like tigger all throughout the house I was sooo happy!!!!! This lapband has done wonders for my spirit and my happiness. I was so unhappy and so unhealthy the way that I was. Life is looking up girls!! WOOT!

Does anyone remember when they were cleared for baths?
Bob_350lbs replied to beautyqueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, I have to say, that I love taking bubble baths now. Before, I could get in the tub, but just hated looking at my fat body..and my tummy protruding out..now it's a nightly ritual..my relaxing soak in the tub. NSV! -
I had surgery 12 weeks ago. Prior to and soon after surgery I read many posts about people a few months out and most everyone said the sleeve was the best decision they had ever made. I was so hopeful but at the same time fearful that I wouldn’t have such a successful journey. I am happy to say that I feel the exact same way as they described!!! I never thought it would be possible to feel this much better both physically and emotionally in such a short time. I have lost 47 lbs. (stalled for a week now) and down 30.5 inches! I was in a tight 20W three months ago. Now I am comfortably in a size 16. I have an NSV to share that some of the ladies may be able to relate. I have always gotten regular pedicures. But I have been doing my own pedicures recently. Not so much because it is less expensive…but because I can actually bend over and paint my toes without turning blue!! I am so amazed at my journey so far and looking forward to a lifetime of better living thanks to my sleeve.

Breaking Up..........with my sleep machine!

@@Bandista No more looking like Darth Vader in bed !!! Big NSV .I hope you are sleeping and breathing better now. -
If my sisters ins covered it I think she'd be in a program already. If I keep things going I could see her self paying. She is just so impressed with my progress. Seeing success stories, in person or on here, is a large pat of why most of us took the plunge. Your NSV is being a success.

Blended families are really difficult. I'm sorry your stepchildren don't treat you with the love and respect you deserve. Great NSVs though! I can't wait until my size 22 jeans fit. They go on (and even zip) now, but they're too obscenely tight to wear in public. Maybe in about 10 more lbs.... Your zoo day sounds GREAT.
-
Those are great NSV's!! But I will say that I hope your hubby says something to his kids if they constantly treat you bad...
-
Great NSV!!!! Way to so Susan. Don't let the step-bitch-in-law bother you. Your husband loves and cares about you, your kids love and care about you, your friends love and care about you, and most important, you love and care about yourself. All the rest is just bunk.

I had a major NSV this weekend. I got stuck in the middle seat of an airplane for one leg of my flight to Austin. For years, I've been terrified of getting stuck in the middle because I knew that I'd be cramped and uncomfortable, and that the people on either side of me would just be hating me the whole time. BUT, at eight months post-op and 48 lbs down, I fit in that seat with a bit of room to spare! Woo-hoo! :tongue_smilie: Catherine

My NSV: My fat belts now need extra holes put in them as they are too big even on the smallest hole. This leads to another NSV, my 16 and 18 pants are too big in the waist, thus the belt. Love reading these.

small nsv to some.... But a big one to me...

Hubs and I and another couple went to dinner last Saturday night. I always dreaded being seated in a booth bc i was always snug or my belly touched the table. As I gained more weight I found it hard to hold my head over the table when I ate bc my tummy was holding me back. Well we got seated in a booth Saturday. I cringed at first and thought... No I got this. We then started to eat... I looked down... My tummy was not touching the table and I had extra room! I was so excited. Just had to share. -

This is my favorite NSV too! I still have to remind myself to NOT say, "table, not booth," when being seated at a restaurant. Congratulations! -

That's a huge NSV! I had the same problem pre sleeve. Also, yesterday I noticed I don't have to tilt my booty over to put my seatbelt on anymore! Haha! -
im 6 weeks out and have only lost 14 lbs but i look upon it as any weight lost is good progress ! wait until you have your 1st nsv ! (non scale victory) . when my jeans were hanging off my hips and i could fit into some old clothes , that was a major "happy dance !" once you've gotten a few nice compliments you feel better. so when the scale slows down think of the nice nsv's you re getting ( Hot Mama ! was one compliment i got . what a hoot !!) best of luck !!
