I had my surgery 10/22 and I've been eating yogurt since 5 days post-op without issue. I want to introduce dairy back into my system as soon as possible to make sure I don't get lactose intolerant.

Yesterday, Mon, Nov. 4 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr PO Sleeve / 114.4 lbs ...am such a rebel. I put my vinaigrette back on my salads out of cranky defiance of all things that suck. Day 5 smoke-free and counting...and I KNOW that it is not related at all, AND that there are a gazillion reasons for this, BUT my inner crank is annoyingly pointing out that since I quit smoking again, my weight has steadily increased by fractions of lbs daily (a whole 1.5 lbs since, the HORROR). So its all like "See?!?!?! you need to go buy a pack and stop this explosive weight gain ASAP!!". Shut the eFF up, Crank. 10:30am - coffee with Stevia 12:00pm - salad greens + vinaigrette (❤️) + carrots + 1/2 avocado + 1oz salted Herring 4:00pm - salad greens + vinaigrette (❤️) + cucumber + 1oz salted Herring + 1.5 oz turkey jerky + 1 fl oz pumpkin seeds 6:00pm - 2 tbsp crunchy almond butter 7:00pm - salad greens + vinaigrette (❤️) + 1 tbsp corn kernels + 2 tbsp green peas + 1oz Parmesan cheese + 1/2 avocado + 1/2 slice bacon + 1 can smoked oysters w/ seafood sauce + 1 oz grilled octopus 9:00pm - 1 fl oz almonds + 2 squares dark chocolate + 1/4 cup blueberries Totals: 1480 cals - 86g Protein - 58g NET carbs - 95g fat

Not losing weight 17 days post op (Re-Sleeve)
Brent701 replied to ToriB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I havent heard of any of the horror stories of substantial regain. If you dont mind sharing what happened? Why did you have the initial success but the subsequent regain. What was the issue for you? Ive heard of people gaining back 10% but never horror stories of gaining the entire amount back. -

Okay so currently the memory I am most grateful for is the memory of what being a cancer patient feels like. I can remember waking up feeling like crap and crying in the shower as I drug my exhausted, chemo-filled body up for another day of work and single-mom stuff. I was 40 and had a 12 and 16yo and nobody really to help me. I didn’t know if I would see the next holiday, or next year. How many of my kids milestones would I miss? Well I made it through, but it made me even heavier then when I started. I gained from the mid 220’s up to almost 250 while I was on chemo for a year, as incredible as that is to believe. During the last 10 years my weight has fluctuated between 202-272. I started to forget what being so sick for so long felt like and I started to become hopeless I would be able to lose excess weight. Quite honestly I was getting comfortable with being morbidly obese. I found (and married) the love of my life, and he loved me no matter what my weight was. Then in early 2018 another cancer scare: I had to take a good, hard look at how I’d been (not) taking care of my body since round 1 of cancer and I didn’t like what I saw. The #1 risk factor for cancer is obesity. Luckily the scare was just a false alarm, but it got my attention and I started desperately looking for something—- some tool I could use to help me exit the roller coaster of metabolic syndrome Well that desperation led me to WLS, and for that I’m thankful.

Thanks so much everyone for the positive feedback and the sensible advice. I’m still not sure which way I’m going to go yet. My addictive personality, perfectionism and type A persona some days wants to see how far I can go. My science-brain and logic centers counsel against getting carried away. Honestly I’m leaning toward the 80/20 rule and seeing if I can IF and keep carbs under control 5-6 days weekly and then allow myself a little flexibility the rest of the time and see where my body settles. If I gain weight, then I know how to get back on track. If I lose weight, then I’m wearing looser clothes If I lose A LOT more weight (over 10-15 pounds more) then I’ll really start to get worried and will have to come up with another plan. I truly feel like another 5-8 pounds of fat being lost wouldn’t be the end of the world and my skin is already hopeless in places. Then of course is the question of if/when my body settles into a different shape. Good news for me is that the first place I would have plastics would be some kind of facelift so I still have more time to see where everything’s gonna settle.

@Sheribear68 First off, you look fab! Is it even feasible to lose >100% excess fat? Yes! Myself and @FluffyChix & @ms.sss & @Healthy_life2 & many other in this thread are proof. I’m now 152.4 (GW was 155) and I’m toying around with the idea of losing another 5-7 pounds before calling it quits. I'm not sure if we are 100% in control of where we finally end up. I know that I dropped 15 lbs below my goal weight without trying, due to my restriction. I now fluctuate 10-13 lbs blow that initial goal, and have maintained here, without really trying, for 9 months. Do you guys think I will look “too skinny” if I lose another 10? Nope, but you didn't look too heavy 11 lbs ago either! This is such a personal decision, everyone feels comfortable in their own skin at a different weight/BMI/body fat. What feels right for YOU? Also, you can't know how you will look -5 lbs unless you lose those 5 lbs. And on top of that, once you settle at a weight, your body will continue to settle and readjust. So, who knows, and since so much is out of our control, does it even kinda matter?

Chermilla what your surgery date mind is 10/22. At 2weeks pre op down 20 lbs yay -
Okay so serious question her guys: I’m now 152.4 (GW was 155) and I’m toying around with the idea of losing another 5-7 pounds before calling it quits. I’ve had this idea for a couple of weeks, but didn’t know if it was something I should proceed with It feels so wonderful to be in maintenance, and part of me doesn’t want to go back to “almost there” So here is a pic I took today. I’m wearing the same dress as I was less than 2 months ago when I weighed 11 pounds more. I know for sure those numbers bc I checked my weight log against the pics. Seeing this difference in me makes my inner narcissist think about losing more. Do you guys think I will look “too skinny” if I lose another 10? Is it even feasible to lose >100% excess fat?

Hey hey had my surgery 10-28 I'm going to be 8 days out this afternoon and I'm down 10lbs since surgery admission -
My office recently submitted my paperwork to CIGNA for approval. I received a decision within a day but the claim was denied due to where I’d be having the surgery. Cigna stated the location where they wanted to perform the surgery as outpatient is not on the 2019 Bariatric Center of Excellence list. I checked and the surgery center is in fact on the list. I actually had my EGD performed there and they paid that claim. I called CIGNA and the rep stated that the ruling they gave is not accurate and outdated. The rep also stated that the case manager is reaching out to my office to rectify the issue. I am frustrated but trying to remain hopeful. Has anybody ever been initially denied by CIGNA and then approved?

The Journey Continues, OR, Third Time's the Charm

no problem Mac..... Have you been approved Yet? Reason i'm asking..... most insurance requires 35 BMI with 2 co morbids. When i had my band in 2009 it was the requirement. ORRR 40 BMI which is where i was. 5'2" and 232lbs. This time i didn't have to because i was still considered a revision even though my band was removed 2.5+ years ago. My bmi this time was 31. SW 173.5..... Today, 145.2 Fk yes.... Back to you.... if you have not be approved yet, you may want to lay off the dieting. Some insurance with not approve you if they see a weight loss. My dr. advised me to not lose anything till i got the final approval. Did you go watch the youtube vids...??? I've been in the WLS community for over 10 years and he is 100% right with everything he says..... no sugar coating with him at all. -
Day 4: The memory I am most grateful for is being able to be with my mom 24/7 during the last few days of her life while she was on hospice care. She passed away 19 years ago at the age of 65 from horrible metastatic cancer. I know it made her more comfortable that I was there. At the time, we lived across the country but I was able to take time off of work to make sure I was there. I would not trade those memories for anything. Well we are going to a football get together with our tribe tonight (GO COWBOYS) but I am taking some stuff that is fine for me to eat and my one friend is making delicious ceviche. Plenty of grilled stuff too. I am sure I will have a bit of tequila but it will be as little as possible.

All prerequisites done - likely Dec 2019!
cwright replied to loridee11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Approval was fairly quick. The process has been long. I started in March 2019. Needed 12 (2 a month) dietitian visits and monthly dr. visits. After that was completed I was able to attend the seminar in September. I met with the surgeon in the middle of October. Needed the typical test done....EKG, Ultrasound, blood work. I was able to get that done the same week that I met with the surgeon. The test results were quick. I received a call the next week to schedule the surgery. -
i had extreme stomach area pain for 10 days post op my stomach area was all red i had to take narcotics 4 pills a day after that over time the pain subsided as the bruises were healing..

The top half of my hip dragon tat is getting chopped off during my upcoming tummy tuck. Photoshop what I should get tattooed in its place! Or simple suggestions welcome. Nothing is too ridiculous. (Yes the whole thing is super faded. It is 13 years old and was hidden by a fat roll for 10 years, LOL) Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

What were your symptoms? Dumping syndrome can occur in 2 phases and is usually resolved in 2-3 hours. Early phase symptoms begin 10-39 minutes and include cramping, feeling of fullness, nausea/vomiting, flushed skin, diarrhea. Late phase occurs within 3 hours and includes dizziness, fatigue, increased heart rate, flushing/sweating, weakness. If I had to guess, it's more like 1 of 2 things: food poisoning or a stomach bug. Either way, try to stay hydrated. If it lasts more than 24 hours, I'd call my doc.

October 2019 surgery peeps?
SorryNameTaken replied to Cherylmilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery 10/24 and went back to work 10/31. My surgery was a bit more complicated than anticipated. I was a revision and they didn't think my band had slipped, but it had and it was very difficult for them to remove. I have had some problems with my heart rate shooting really high just from walking a short distance. I feel like it's slowly trying to get better, so I'm just taking that one day at a time. I have another appointment on Wednesday to see if any answers can be found. Other than that, everything has gone great and I'm essentially pain free minus where I had a drain after surgery. I did buy a decent bit of protein powder to have after surgery and now I only like one of the flavors.. I knew that would happen, but it's still a bit of a bummer. 🤣 -

Cherylmilla replied to Cherylmilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sleeve on 10/28. Had more pain than expected and took today off work too, but today has been my best day. Getting a decent amount of water and protein in each day and down 14 lbs. I was stubborn about pain meds but taking them helped me heal. Been able to make #2 without any meds/supplements, but I don’t go every day. I’m itching to go back to work so you know I’m bored.
