    6.5 pounds in 4 days!

Alot of people do! I only eat 200 calorie Breakfast and lunch (banana, egg then soup) and a 100 calorie evening meal most days. I try to push more and occasionally hit 700 cals if my granddaughter gives me a chocolate button or two when playing. But most days, 400 to 500 calories is my outcome. For the first three months it was 100 to 300, last three is 400 to 500, with 600 to 700 exception days. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App And you are sick all the time. People that want to live have more calories. Your body can't function on that little. Starvation is not health. @@OhHeyMarina Ahh I missed the yogurts.

    6.5 pounds in 4 days!

@@OhHeyMarina Hey girl, I too have noticed that going through this full liquid diet phase pre-op it is really almost all mental and emotional hunger rather than physical! After about day 4 I found I rarely feel "hungry" and I am much more satisfied with my protein shakes, yogurt, and SF pudding. This phase has caused me a lot more emotional ups and downs than anything, but I am really appreciating the process and it helps me better understand my dependence on food in my life for things outside of hunger and nutrition. You are doing amazing! Keep it up! I am now on day 9 out of 14, it does get better! Just hang in there girl <3

What to pack for lunch when 6 weeks out

I have access to a microwave and small kitchen, but more often than not I pack stuff that doesn't require preparation or heating. I love the P3 Protein packs. They have just the right amount of meat, cheese, and nuts to fill me up and get me a good protein bump. I also pack greek yogurt, and sometimes chicken strips that are pre-cooked to eat cold or warm with some teryaki dipping sauce. I usually have a couple of Protein Bars in my bag just in case, as well.

What to pack for lunch when 6 weeks out

I agree with "genn". The World According to Eggface Blog is a great place to see lunch combinations. She uses a Bento box and fills it up with different things like turkey lunch meat, cheese cubes, dip made with yogurt and veggies, grapes, etc.
  7. I will be going back to work right after the holidays, I'm looking for some ideas as far as what I could pack. I will be doing "Blue Collar" controlled industrial area type work and fighting for a microwave is not an ideal thing. So far I'm thinking of dicing up chicken, small chunks of cheese, yogurt, and maybe avocado. What are things that you would put into your lunch box? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Soft Protein Food Ideas?

For soft Proteins, I agree, cottage cheese, yogurt and the Protein shakes are great. My nutritionist said we need to get at least 60 grams of protein a day. Also, you can try canned chicken and mix it with some no fat or low fat mayo and seasonings (chicken salad).... you can do the same with tunafish. Or you can bake some soft fish like tuna, salmon or tilapia... all great ways to get protein and they are nice soft meats. I am on the pureed stage and have been eating non fat refried Beans with a teaspoon of light sour cream and a dash of hot sauce. I also like the non fat chicken salad. I have tried cottage cheese, non fat greek yogurt and Egg Beaters for Breakfast.

    Soft Protein Food Ideas?

Well you need to be getting protein so I would say protein shakes, yogurt, and cottage cheese would be best bets.
  10. I started doing my own shakes a few days out from surgery, I had a hard time getting the Premier Protein down after drinking them for a few days. I have found that when I blend the chocolate premier with ice it's like a chocolate shake and I have no problems. The Protein Shakes I made right after surgery just had Greek yogurt (I used the oikos triple zero) and plain or vanilla protein powder, if I didn't want fruit flavor from the yogurt I'd throw in some Peanut Butter and half a banana (both were allowed on my stage 2 plan). I used almond milk in these but if I had found fairlife skim milk sooner I probably would have used that instead! Now almost 2 months out I do frozen fruit with Water, stevia and a tbsp of GENEPRO. Makes about a cup and a half -but I only use 3/4 cup frozen fruit- on my way into work. According to my fitness pal it has about 130 cals and it fills me up for a couple of hours. The genepro protein is a god send I wish I had ordered it sooner. It was expensive but I was having a really hard time choking down the other protein powders I got from GNC, I have a protein powder graveyard in my cupboard lol!!!

  12. I can't stand the taste or texture of ready to drink shakes. I made my own too. My program said that if adding milk or yogurt to smoothies then not to add fruit. To keep the sugar and calorie content lower? I'm guessing? They also told me to keep smoothies under 30g Protein. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    ugh to the liquid diet!

i'm only allowed Protein shakes and Water (though i could add fruits, yogurt to the shake)... the first day i used unsweetened almond milk with the shakes thinking it would mask some of the flavor. i'm 4 days in and i no longer use the milk- water only and LOTS of it. the colder the better. my favorite so far has been to blend an orange, vanilla Protein Powder, ice, and lots of water. it gets frothy and tastes sorta like an orange julius (or so my mind likes me to believe). also decaf instant coffee and/or Peanut Butter (powder) added to the protein powder is a "great" way to drink the shakes. but besides all that, how's your gut? OMG I'M DYING WITH RUMBLING AND GAS AND BATHROOM TRIPS! :(
  14. Yes. I've been doing that. Here are some things I add. Not all together but I change it up. Spinach, strawberries, blueberries, plain yogurt, Protein powder, bananas, fresh ginger, almond or fair life milk, any frozen fruit or frozen banana, PB2, Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Really embracing this new adventure. Anybody know when I will be able to start light exercise? Surprisingly I do feel a little more tired, but it's the new body adjusting to a new change. I'm still going to enjoy and appreciate this new journey! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Here is some more indignation, I find in an online article on Pinterest. Main Menu How to Prevent Saggy Skin After Vertical Sleeve Surgery By Tatyana Ivanov A vertical sleeve gastrectomy is a surgical weight loss procedure recommended for treating obesity. During the procedure, a large portion of the patient’s stomach is removed, leaving a small pouch behind. This pouch fills more quickly than the larger stomach, allowing the patient to feel full after eating less food. Due to the typically large amount of weight loss experienced, loose excess skin troubles many post-op patients. While genetics largely determines the amount of loose skin you experience, taking a few easy steps before your surgery can prevent additional sagging. Things You'll Need Neoprene weight loss wraps Skin firming lotion Weights Water Vitamin A supplements Antioxidant supplements Exercise March in place, stretch your arms and rotate them in small circles or swing them back and forth for 10 to 15 minutes. This will warm up your body for additional exercise. Walk on a treadmill or the street for 10 minutes daily, four days a week. Wearing a neoprene warming wrap while walking will help boost toning. Stretch and work out trouble areas for saggy skin, such as the arms, thighs, stomach and butt. Gently lift legs and arms from a seated position. Wear the neoprene wrap on these areas to increase firming. Lift small weights, generally two to three pounds, to increase toning in your arms. While standing with arms dangling at your sides, lift the weights out and up until they are at the same level as your shoulders. Nutrition Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily. Drinking enough water helps hydrate skin and improve elasticity. Eat foods that are rich in Vitamin A, such as low-fat milk and yogurts. Vitamin A helps regenerate healthy skin cells to replace damaged ones. Eat foods that are rich in antioxidants, such as berries, plums and pomegranate. Antioxidants help with healthy skin and are beneficial for the heart and metabolism. Avoid foods with large quantities of refined sugar and carbohydrates, as well as over-processed foods with empty calories. Other Preventive Methods Apply a skin firming or tightening moisturizer all over your body after showering, paying special attention to your trouble areas. Avoid smoking and smoky environments. Wear sunscreen of SPF 40 or higher when you are going to be exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  17. A liquid is basically anything you can suck through a straw. Caveat because, yes, one newer post op member here asked the question... MILKSHAKES DON'T COUNT. As @@Hammer_Down said, clear liquids are generally low calorie or calorie free and you can read a label through them. Water, tea, broth, SF flavor enhanced drinks like Crystal Light or Gatorade would all count. No, you can't have fruit juices either. Too much sugar. Full liquids would include Protein shakes (watch the carbs!), Soups like tomato, bisque, creamed veggie, etc. But again, watch the calories and fat. You don't want to consume creamy potato and cheese because that would defeat the purpose. Liquids is basically....liquids. Some diets will include yogurt, sf Jello or pudding, and Popsicle on the liquid side, but that's up to you.

    Post op liquid diet

Not necessarily, but I wouldn't go overboard. Your stomach is healing. I stuck with Protein drinks, yogurt, and Water. I could have used crystal light to flavor the water, but I figured that it would be one less thing for my belly to worry about while healing. Im on soft foods now, and I love cooking with spices. Spice and flavoring can also have nutritional value, but watch the salt and the processed flavorings. Just my opinion. I'm new to this, so I could be wrong Sent from my MotoE2(4G-LTE) using the BariatricPal App

  20. I'm not doing shakes anymore (thank God cause I hate em) but I start my day with Greek yogurt which has 14 grams of Protein, then according to my NUTRITION COACH, for every 1oz of meat I eat (chicken, Turkey, fish) [steak later on for you] it's about 8 grams of protein. Also with your meals eat your protein 1st. If you're eating 1/2 cup [4 oz] if you ate a 3 oz piece of turkey and 1 oz of lima Beans, that's about 30 grams of protein right there. That's breakfast of 14g for the yogurt, lunch 30g from the beans and turkey......your at about 45 grams for just those 2 meals. You could also drink low fat milk to get your protein in its about 8 grams of protein a well. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    pre op diet

im not allowed milk, my liquid diet consist of 4 Protein Shakes and 3 light yogurts "where the dairy is going why i can't mix my Protein with milk" and then all the Water, crystal light, sugar free Jello and popsicles i want but i can only do the 2 protein shakes, i can't manage to do more it literally makes me sick just thinking about how i gotta have another one "i hate all protein shakes, always have probably always will" lol
  22. I started my liquid diet on December 2nd on first day i followed schedule completely which is morning, lunch, dinner and evening snack is a protein shake and I'm allowed 3 light yogurts a day and then all the water, crystal light, sugar free jello and popsicles i want but on day 2 and today i just felt sick every time i knew i had to drink a protein shake, so i only got 2 in instead of the 4, will that not shrink my liver? i haven't cheated and ate solids my only problem is, is that the protein is so gross to me i can't stomach drinking 4 a day
  23. Boy, I remember those days, just keep doing the best you can, it will come together, I struggled with Water, and as you said, waiting to eat after drinking it was difficult for me. But now I get around 70-90 Protein in a day, so if I get low day I am not too worried. Fish is lighter on your tummy and is packed with protein, canned tuna with a little mayo is good too. Peanut Butter also goes down well. Like the above said, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, all help. Keep a scale handy, to keep track of oz's as protein goes up with larger amounts, eggs as well , hard boil them to have on hand.
  24. Try nectar fuzzy navel Protein it is clear and tastes like tang. Ask the doctor if you need a certain amount of Water or if the Protein Drink counts for that. Mix plain Greek yogurt with sugar free jelly. Eat cottage cheese...mostly the Protein drinks. My doc let me count liquid Fluid oz I drank 3 a day in the beginning. I'm going on 3 yrs out. How do I manage to get enough protein daily!?

Babybell cheese is 5 pro. .5 cup cottage cheese is 10 pro. .5 of a large Wendy's chili is 11.5 pro. Greek yogurt used as sour cream in chili. Homemade meatballs! Sausage or bacon for breakfast. Eggs with havarti and hot sauce, if you want more protein scramble with Greek yogurt to make them fluffy. Shrimp! They go down easy anytime that I'm having an off day.
