Gosh how wonderful that is! I had a kid come up to me and ask "Are you fat or a woman?: although I may not ever see little Mr Smartmouth again, it would be a NSV not to field such questions again. See I always felt like I was cute inside it has been troubling to to be making the outside match!😭😪
  4. Never in a million years did I think these pants would fit me again!!! Woohoo made it to a 12 and one of my old favorite pairs of jeans! Sent from my SM-J727T1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. I am down from a size 28 to a solid 20. I can even fit into some 18/20s. The motivation I feel when I see myself in these smaller clothes is incredible. I almost don't recognize myself because the transformation is pretty drastic. I met with a personal trainer yesterday that they offer at my office's fitness center and got some basic info. He is going to give me 2 free "trial" sessions if I sign up for at least 2 additional sessions. I am pretty sure I am going to sign up. I am making this the summer of SleeveinIL! I can't be the mother, wife, caregiver and anything else I want/need to be unless I am healthy. Food is fuel! I see the scale moving again and that is also very motivating for me as well. NSV this week...taking a bath (first since before surgery) and my behind and thighs weren't mashed up against the sides of the tub not allowing the water to flow between the front and the back of the tub. The water was able to move around and nothing of me touched the sides of the tub unless I physically moved my legs there. This surgery is giving me some confidence back for sure. I even updated my photo at work because I don't look like that anymore!

It's funny you mention the photo at work! I got questioned a bar this past weekend because my picture didn't look like me anymore. Congrats! You may have inspired me to take a bath :)

Good NSV the other day. I had my first physical since the surgery and the DR was very pleased. Blood Pressure was great, pulse was great and I was down 96 lbs since seeing them last. First 'good' physical I've had in 15+ years where it didn't end with the DR making dire predictions about my health if I didn't lose weight.

Yeah Baby! Oh I have a Christian type joke for you! Lady appears at the Gates of Heaven. Saint Peter says" Before I open these gates I must know if you know Our Savior, the Son of GOD? Lady says Oh Saint Peter, yes I do and we are on a first name basis. Saint Peter says Oh yes, and what might his name be? Lady says Yes his name is Andy. Saint Peter says Andy? Lady says if course: Andy walks with me Andy talks with me Andy tells me I am his own! Great NSV I am looking for the day I can bend straight over, tie my shoes and not get dizzy.

Got a couple more today. Had to go to a walk in clinic today got a skin infection thing... they didn’t have to go searching for the bigger BP cuff and just used the “normal one”. Doc even said after reviewing my vitals what not that I’m “really healthy”. I’m choosing to take that as positive and not a backhanded compliment. Best NSV was the Mr giving me a big hug and saying he could reach around me more and this was now his favorite way to measure my progress. Congrats on everyone for notifying NSV even if not posting.

I LOVE this topic! Read every one and cheering for everybody! For me, I literally walked out of a pair of jeans. My heel caught on the hem and they came right down off me. Down a size already! And I'm having a surge of energy in spite of having zero caffeine (I was addicted to Diet Coke pre-surgery.) Got up at 5:30 this morning and cooked eggs for me and hubby (he was shocked, LOL) then took the dogs on a mile-long walk. Can't wait to see what NSVs the next weeks and months bring.

    Non Scale Victories

Had surgery 10/2016 for revision lap band. I totally had a NSV when I realized I could get up off the floor so easy and chase after my grandson, didn’t have to roll around and use furniture to try and get up and I am 60 years young

Wow what a NSV! This one I'm looking forward to. I have lost weight in my face, forearms, wrists and an almost loss of body inches. I rationalize that since I am still presurgical there is hope for me yet. But as I have lymphedema the word "swelling" resonates with me. Keep me updated as more NSV occur for you.😛

    Non Scale Victories

this needs to move back to the top for all to see and take heart from. NSV are important and each is personal and important to our mental health so i will share a small NSV this morning. Out of habit i sit here with my feet elevated as i have for years cause i need to keep the swelling down in my feet only as i look at my feet i realize i haven't need to do this for a while and i am doing it now out of pure habit. I have lost 2 shoes sizes in the last 10 months and the bones in my feet show now that the fat is mostly gone. The left foot is still larger than the right but it most likely will always be due to circulation issues that don't have anything to do with my WLS. So i sit here looking at my own feet and smiling cause i can see them sitting and just as importantly when i stand up.

    NSV Today!

I have been a little depressed due to slow weight loss since Surgery (19 lbs) 4/18. However this morning I went to get dressed and grabbed a pair of 16 jeans my sister gave me (not 16w) and they fit perfect! I went into surgery wearing 20W pants! I have not worn non plus sized clothes in 20 years. Made me realize that the scale does not show all of the loss experienced by VSG. Perked me up. Today is a GOOD day! 😀

Stall a complete week and this week

start with some meditation. Followed by deep breathing exercises. I am not making fun of what you are going thru just trying to get you to relax and step back a little. Follow your program - completely - The weight will start to come off again. At this point i would very much recommend you stop weighing yourself daily. Switch to once per week and stop the daily mental torture that is the scale. Please read the ongoing post about NSV (non scale victories) there will be times in this process that all you can hold on to are the NSV. Don't look down on all the great things changing in your life as you go forward instead hold these little wins close to your heart and let them carry you till the weight loss returns. good luck and grats on the great progress you have made to date

    Little Green getting little(r)

hey bud Love your updates!!, keeps me busy off the streets and out of trouble!! i wish i had written a journal. Putting in all my NSV's would have been great. you are keeping great records. It keeps you busy, writing things down that you can look back on. Exciting things to remember, like when you had your first BM, when you passed gas!! Ahhhh, it's the little things. I see you are mending day to day, 15 lbs down!!! Holy Moly!! keep drinking and feeling better kathy
  17. Flying later today, and loving the complete lack of anxiety - it's a real NSV. When I went on a trip this time last year, I spent days worried about whether or not I'd need a seat belt extender, researching seat widths and checking to see if the flight was full hoping no one would sit by me. Haven't given it one thought this year!

I do still have to deal with the whole aspect of being 6'4" and flying, but I'm cool with that. Bring on the cramped spaces! :D

    NSV shares

Well this is not exactly a true NSV but I don't know where else to share it. It is an emotional victory for me. See I doubt myself at v times. The victory I'm claiming is: varification and clairification I'm approaching things in thus journey correctly. Although my weight is not flying away on this PreSurgery diet I am losing inches, my exercise tolerance is better, I'm walking farther without having to stop and take a rest, the weight I'm losing I'm not flabby-dying with, sure my blobs are already derounding and getting a little more sock-like, if necessary I'll install a seat belt retractor in my bra cups. At least I'm not to the point where they flop over the top or slither out underneath. If my diet one day is not as perfect as I would like, that's a stumble not a complete fall. Don't sit around crying or emotionally beating myself up, I just puck myself up, dust myself off, learn from the mistake and move on toward the final goal. Weight loss, surgery, lifestyle changes, they are all possible and within my reach. The is a lot of gusto left in life for me and I intend to enjoy it until my last breath. Its a pretty, bright not too hot day in Ohio today, so let's see what's in store for ME.😝

    Loosing slowly

you are so soon after surgery. Please read the part i quoted above. a pound a day is simply not sustainable. 1 plus a week would be a much more sustainable goal and would not cause you so much mental anguish. try to weigh only weekly, the daily thing works against you after that early weight drop. You need to avoid the negative feedback from fixating on the scale everyday. Look for NSV (non scale victories) and enjoy those. Hows the mobility, the gym, how about how your clothes fit. Did you get to drop any meds or reduce them. Try to step back for a bigger picture and let the weight loss come to you in the many many months ahead. good luck and grats on your surgery
  21. Awww, great NSVs!! Clean checkups and new clothes! I was getting ready to go out last week and my shorts literally fell down to my knees LOL 16 W's. I was also thrilled, and got myself a couple of 16s. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. FREEZE THIS THE BARIATIC POLICE. NOW STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE. (JK) do consider giving the scale a break and move to a weekly weigh-in vs the daily mental torture you do now. Not every victory in this journey comes from the scale and even when not losing weight other good things happen. There is a whole thread on NSV - that's non scale victories - give it a read and see how many apply now and what you have to look forward to.
  23. Another NSV - I am hitting either the elliptical or treadmill for 45 min in a row. I also am doing weights for my bat wings (the back of my arms) lol. I honestly would have never been able to exercise this long before. I was straining after 10 minutes. My work offers personal trainers in the workout facility (for a fee) and I am considering it to help me maximize my time working out. I don't want to always do cardio but I am not sure what weight exercises to do now.

On another note, yesterday after my last meeting I went down to the fitness center and worked out. I didn't text home and ask if I could, I just took the time and did it and told them to start dinner without me. I got home at my normal time and it really didn't bother me that I didn't "ask permission" to take care of myself. I actually put myself first for once. :)

putting your health and happiness first is really a form of putting family first. What good are you if your sick and miserable.

  24. Even with my 130 + pounds of weight-loss, I weigh more than my younger sibling. I get frustrated by scale numbers some days tbh. Even though I workout and stay very active and have maintained a pretty good diet focusing more on toning and gaining muscles still I get secretly bummed. Since surgery, I have overhauled my lifestyle. Last weekend my sister was showing me some clothes she bought and just for fun I started trying them on. To my surprise everything was big on me. I was secretly ecstatic. Because I’m gaining muscles and losing inches so that means my workouts showing results. I want to be as fit as I possibly can be. I do eat more carbs like whole grains, Brown rice and quinoa now but I keep away from simple carbs because of my fitness goals. Moral of story the numbers on scale is not everything.
  25. NSV today. I have been wearing my size 26 jeans which have been getting roomy. So today I decided to try on my size 24 Lane Bryant jeans and see if I could get into them. Not only can I get into them, they are also loose. That made me feel super happy this morning. Weight is still 243 but the inches are definitely moving.
