    Loving My Sleeve

Your story seems similar to mine, no adverse moments in my journey with the exception of a three week stall and constipation issues. I have actually only lost 13 lbs in 5 weeks. :-) I'm looking foward to my 6 week follow up appointment next week and a real weigh in at the Dr's. I hope our journeys continue uneventful.
  2. You're two weeks out from surgery? Stop worrying. Many of us put ON weight during our first week or surgery from the IV fluids as well as from general inflammation. Honestly, this is very, very normal. You will soon hit your three-week stall as well, so measure yourself, keep doing what you should do, and try to be as patient as possible. Easier said than done I know! I'm going through a slow period right now too and it's frustrating, but it's normal. If in a couple of months you haven't lost anything, you can get upset then maybe, not in a couple of weeks

How much loss 5 weeks out?

Im at the end of my fourth week post op. I lost 14 pounds in the first 2 weeks. I have not lost any since. Im not concerned because I was aware of the three week stall.

    Weightloss month 1

liveaboard15 is correct. Most of us experience the "three week stall". Also, those weight fluctuations are just fluctuating water levels. With as little as you're probably eating, there's no way that's a true gain. It's just fluid levels.
  5. pretty much 99.9% of us. Do a search of this site on the three week stall. You'll find thousands of posts on it.

    No weightloss 1 month PO

Welcome to the three week stall. Almost everyone goes through this & you’re not doing anything wrong. The first stall, yes the first, usually starts in week 3 hence the name but it can occur before or after that time too. They usually last 1-3 weeks. Frustrating but very much part of weight loss. Stalls are your body taking stock of your weight loss & reacting to the stress of the changes you’re making. The first is often in response to the surgery, reduced calories, etc.. Your body uses this time to reset your metabolism, hunger hormones, etc. & is a necessary part of your weight loss. Your weight loss will never be a consistently straight line in a downwards direction. It will waver up & down. At times is won’t move, move slowly or move quickly. Though the scale isn’t moving some people notice their body measurements still reduce. Stick to your plan. Don’t stress your body more than your plan advises. Your weight loss will start again when your body is ready.

    Help!

What were your reasons for getting surgery before talking to your boss? Remember those. Remember everything you learned while researching the different surgeries. You need to choose for you. I was sleeved three weeks ago and even though I sometimes eat too fast and regret it, and even though I'm tired of shakes, even though i know there are always risks, and even though I hit the three week stall a week early, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I did this for my health. Not anyone else's. You need to choose for you. You can do this! Good luck!!
  8. Hey Hip! I know it is difficult but try to stay positive! The first couple of weeks are about getting better, healing and recovering. At your stage in the game Water is going to be important, try to get in as much as you can. I hit the dreaded three week stall and the same as you, I stayed there for 2 1/2 weeks. This has become my pattern but I am still losing albeit slowly and I am now 10mths out. Over the last couple of weeks I have really struggled mentally with this whole process, but I am getting there now and feeling more positive about myself. It will come off... as yes, extrafluffy said you don't really have that much to lose; you're a 'light weight' ...lol have a look around at other stall posts.. there are a lot of them! It would seem that a lot of us go through this and it is part and parcel of our bodies way of taking time to adjust. take care of yourself and keep us posted... chin up! =]

    Feeling stuck

Completely normal. So normal, it even has a name: "The Dreaded Three Week Stall". Keep trying to find soft proteins you can tolerate, get all your liquids in, and it will pass. Most all of us have gone through it! Hang in there!

    Not losing anything? ?

Sounds like you’ve hit the three-week stall! The only thing to worry about is if you get discouraged and stop eating like you’re supposed to. Otherwise, you’re doing fine! Keep eating right, and let your stomach keep healing, and you’ll start losing again.

Not losing after surgery 6 weeks out

three week stall. If you do a search on that on this site, you'll find something like 17,000 posts on it (and no, I am NOT kidding). It happens to almost all of us (and it's not always the third week for everyone - but sometime during the first month or so after surgery). your rate of weight loss is fine. I think some people's expectations come from watching shows like "My 600 lb Life", but keep in mind that those people start off at MUCH higher BMI's than the average WLS patient. Your rate is fine. I lost 16 lbs the first month, and I ended up losing 100% of my excess weight (over 200 lbs). As long as you stick to your program and your general weight trend is downward, you're good.
  12. Conduct a search of the terms "three-week stall," "third week stall" and "3 week stall." Yes, this phenomenon is so common it has a name. Most sleevers stall sometime between the second and fourth week post-op. Now, here's the hard part: stay off the scale for a few weeks and allow your body to sort out the trauma it's been through. Always expecting a daily or weekly loss is unrealistic. Post-sleeve weight loss happens in a non-linear, unpredictable manner: we lose a few pounds, hold onto some, then stall and plateau and even gain water weight at times before losing again. Be patient with the process. Good luck to you.

    Weight Loss Stall

everybody. Do a search on the "three-week stall" (although it's not always the third week - sometimes it's the second - or fourth- or fifth - but at any rate, sometime within the first 4-6 weeks of surgery). You will find HUNDREDS of posts on this if you search it. P.S. Don't fast. You need the nutrition for healing. Just stick to your surgeon's program. The stall WILL break, I promise.

    June 30th Sleevers?

Hey folks! Four weeks out tomorrow! How's everyone doing? Anyone else hit the three week stall? I didn't, it came in the fourth! Overall, my weight loss has slowed to a creep.

    Weight at a stand still

After seeing all the three week stall posts I admit I still panicked a little lol. I am trying to have faith that logically you can't follow this plan long term and NOT lose.

    Nexplanon after VSG

That is so scary. I can't imagine gaining so much weight so quickly. I hope so! I too was terribly sensitive to hormones, this was suggested as the best alternative since the pills and the ring were a complete disaster for me. At most on both I think I gained 10 lbs pre-surgery, then I stopped taking any BC for 3 years completely. I am still worried because I do feel hunger but I know I haven't been eating at all lately due to stress. I should try focusing less on the sweet cravings and just eat more Protein again. I am going to try and up my fitness time to see if I can push this insane three week stall. I have been feeling myself getting lazy due to the Summer weather! Here is hoping!

    What the heck happened?!

Omg. The three week stall is a myth. A true stall lasts three weeks or MORE. All your body is doing at three weeks is regrouping to the new way of living and making needed adjustments. There is nothing to worry about if you're following plan to the letter. You could literally sit on your arse for 4 months and if you follow plan you will lose. Not saying this is the thing you should do, but that your body has no CHOICE but to give up the excess in The beginning IF YOU FOLLOW YOUR EATING PLAN. You eat tacos and huge hoagies? Well, yeah, you're going to stall. Or gain. But at 3 weeks? Nope. NOT A STALL Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Harder than I thought....

My scale isn't moving either. I'm just silently screaming at it knowing I shouldn't be paying attention to the scale right now. I feel like I am a fairly even-tempered guy, but I was about to throw our scale off of the terrace by the end of the second week of my "three week stall." But, it finally passed, and I have been in a free-fall ever since. I bet that's going to happen for both of you before too long as well! Now, if I can just get to my next milestone before the stall rears its ugly head again!! :-) Hang in there!

    Over 200lbs to loose

There are folks that have lost that much. Hang around and poke around and you'll find them. I am at 6 weeks. I have lost a total of 51 pounds today, so right at 25% of my total 200 I want to lose. 20 of those were with the pre op diet, but the other 30 are all me. That's 5 pounds per week, on average, since surgery. I had a three week stall even. I absolutely 100% believe it can and will work for me. BUT it's not just surgery. YOU have to change too. I'm visiting with a counselor, I'm working out with a trainer twice per week and I have a gym membership now. Crazy! LOL
  22. Catnapped, not sure what the purpose of your original post was, but if it was in reference to some posters not getting a response, then I have to agree with sassy pants. I used to come on here everyday while researching my decision to have surgery. I searched and read and asked questions every day. Even immediately after surgery, I was obsessed with checking the forums. I responded to a lot of posts with my advice and experiences. But then it got old with the same old posts.... "Three week stall"...."gained weight during surgery"..."preop diet sucks "..."can't get my Protein in"..."craving carbs". I realize each person making these posts feels they may be alone or the only one with these issues, but a simple search of the topics and responses would reveal a lot of answers without starting a whole new thread. I don't even bother reading these posts anymore much less respond to them because the answers have already been posted dozens of times. I think we are all on here for support, and the search feature could probably reveal a lot more answers to everyone's concerns if it were used. Even reviving an older revalent thread can sometimes be more helpful than starting a new one that may get overlooked.

    Please Help, Advice Needed!

three-week stall. Almost all of us go through our first major stall with the first 4-6 weeks after surgery (we call it the three week stall because it's USUALLY the third week, although not always). If you do a search on this site of the three week stall, you will find about 17,000 posts on it (and no, I am NOT kidding!). Just stick to your plan and stay off the scale for a few days - and know that it'll break and you'll be on your way again. btw - that uptick in weight is almost certainly due to water retention or you have more in your bowels than you did the last time you weighed. There's no way you could gain true weight eating 600 calories. As others have said, fluctations of a couple of pounds are normal. If they play with your head too much, then just start weighing once a week instead of daily.
