    Feb 23 Sleevers!

Welcome Falecha! Glad you posted. You are actually doing quite well (weight wise). Many of us have lost less than that since surgery. I'm only 22 lbs down (but, I'm trying not to complain...because I never lost 22 lbs in a month in the past). Hopefully your Drs. appointment will put your mind at ease. I always write my questions down, so I don't get nervous ad forget....just a suggestion. I think we have to just keep trying to get Protein and Water goals in, and it will come off. At least, that seems to be the norm. Also, as they said on the other thread...the 3 weeks stall is VERY common. So, we shouldn't worry. Thanks for ur advice I appreciate it maybe I'm reading too much into it r maybe I want the weight to just drop off but it doesn't work that way. I'll let everyone know how my doctors appointment went tomorrow. Sent from my LG-H811 using the BariatricPal App

    3 week stall

I expected the 3 week stall but it is still playing mind games on me.. I feel so weak and tired to the point my doctor gave me another week off from work.. So dealing with the stall, feeling weak and no work is kinda messing with me.
  4. Don't get discouraged! The 3 week stall is a bummer, but you will get past it. Just continue following your diet. RNY 15 weeks out--83 lbs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I'm glad that it helps you to not feel alone After seeing several "stall" posts I think...the "3 week" stall can happen really at any time. I guess we just have to have faith in the process...and our bodies. Keep the will power going for following our doctor's orders. It's going to happen!

    Early weight loss stall

i had the "3 week stall" as well! i was told by friends who had this procedure that it DOES happen, and to keep doing what im doing. i lost 25lbs almost immediately after surgery and after 3 weeks of sitting in one place on the scale, i lost another 5 pounds. Just keep getting that protein in and AS MUCH liquid as you can, and you will do fine! i still can't get all 64oz a day in and im 5 weeks out from surgery. it is a rewarding process and i can already tell i made the right decision. Just trust yourself and the process and you will surprise yourself!

@@Angie74 I started off on the lower end as well. My highest was 224lbs. Surgery weight was 203lbs. Current weight is 188lbs. I think your right on track. I'm in the famous 3 week stall. I'm now onto mushy foods.

    Early weight loss stall

It's called "The Dreaded 3 week Stall". Frustrating, but totally normal. Probably won't be your last stall, either. I probably had 4 or 5 stalls in a matter of a year. They totally suck but just part of the whole process. They got me where I am now

    My first 3 weeks

Jools64 give yourself time. I'm still a relative newbie myself at 8 weeks and the energy does come back. I'm still on the learning curve with food and slowly learning what I can and can't eat. So I agree it is a major change; I would have never imagined that I would be the person that would have to remind herself to eat. I had the 3 week stall, I also put on about 4 pounds during that time (I was ready to throw my scale out the window), but it's now it steadily coming off. You may want to try increasing your Water intake, if you can. As a lack of liquid may contribute to stalls, but regardless I'm sure those pounds will start dropping again!

    3 week plateau?

Don't beat yourself up over it. The "3 week stall" (and other plateaus) are very common. You could probably find hundreds of posts on this website alone on this subject.

    I think I messed up

Just like everyone else is saying... There is a phenomenon that happens around the 3rd week... Known as the 3 week stall.... I was on it for 2 weeks! Just keep pushing to get protein and water in and it will start to come off again! It is very discouraging and I know when you are in that spot at the time you feel like a failure but our bodies just need to be able to catch up sometime! I have stalled several times including all of week 3 and 4 and more! But today I am down into a pair of high school jeans and I'm 2 days away from 3 months post op! I have lost a total of 67lbs and as long as the scale keeps going in the right direction I am going to be happy about it!
  12. If you have that kind of pain this far out, you may be eating too much too fast. You are also likely in the famous 3 week stall. Just keep working the program, and it will come off. Meanwhile slowdown and chew well and stop eating at 20 minutes and see if that helps the pain Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  13. I've been reading these forums for years but I am so desperate, I am finally posting. In 2012 I had the lapband- went from 290-250 and stayed there within 3-4 lbs for most of the years I had band. I had band port replaced due to puncture and then when it slipped in 2015 causing an obstruction I decided on conversion to sleeve. I went back up to 278 in the 6 months between band deflation and getting the sleeve. Got sleeve mid-January 2016. Within first 2 1/2 weeks I got down to 258, 20 lbs (a lot of it was probably water but still, great!) Hit the dreaded 3 week stall but continued to follow all the rules and be patient. Now I am at week 9 and am still just fluctuating in the low 250's but I have lost only about 4 lbs in the past 6 weeks! I started measuring inches in the past two weeks but nothing noticible there either. I've heard of this long of a stall happening but usually further out after more weight loss to begin with. About a month ago I started tracking everything religiously in my fitness pal and on fitbit. I aim for around 650 calories a day (sometimes when I work out really hard, I eat something after the gym just to be able to drive home safe, brining it to around 750-800 calories per day.) I always get at least 65g protein, low-carb, low sugar. etc. My fitbit average steps per day is 13,000 which includes the gym 3-4 times a week. My apps had me at around -22,000 calories for last week and nothing at all!! I keep waiting for the stall to break but I feel like my spirit is breaking instead. Other things: I started having super frequent periods since the surgery, like 5 days on 10 days off, repeat. My primary care was puzzled and tested thyroid which is fine (thank god!) I also take a very small daily does of prozac a day 20mg. Could med be the reason I am not loosing? I see my surgeon and nutritionst in 1 1/2 weeks. I am scared that they will either think I am cheating because it seems so unusual or just say "some people don't loose the weight." Any ideas are greatly appriciated. This doesn't seem like the other stalls I've been reading about. I'm scared because I've gotten to this weight a bunch of times as an adult on atikins, weight watchers, lap-band, etc but never lower. I feel like I am failing at yet another attempt to loose weight.

    I think I messed up

Use the search box here and search for "3 week stall" "third week stall" or "week 3 stall" You'll see you haven't messed up, EVERYONE stops losing for a few weeks at three weeks out. Stay off the scale for a couple of weeks. I am amazed and appalled at how many doctors seem to recommend that their patients eat potatoes (of all things!) but that's a rant for another day, and if your doctor told you to do it, it's not messing up. Unless you are nibbling on potatoes all day long, it didn't cause your weight loss to stop. That happens on its own and is completely normal.
  15. Forever. It seemed like that anyways. My 3 week stall lasted 2 weeks. I had another at 5 months that lasted a month. Again, it felt like a year but it was a month. Just stay the course. Don't freak out. Use the time to practice patience and hone your good habits - getting all your Protein and Water in, exercising, getting appropriate sleep. Just don't give up.

    Weightloss Per Week?

My doctor says that after the first month, the initial drop in those fat stores and Water weight, you can expect to loose between 8 and 10 pounds a month. I thought of ww too because they say 1-2 pounds a week. I have been on ww for 20 years and I have never lost that much consistently! I lost about 40 pounds once on ww and it was an average of 6 pounds a month but I didnt keep if off and it slowly came back on, even though I kept on with ww. I just got lazy and didnt keep it up as diligentlly as I should have. I am not saying ww doesnt work, I am saying its a tool, just like the sleeve is. Its not a miracle that you dont have to do anything and POOF the weight is gone. You still have to think about Protein first and getting your water, etc. Its a great tool because its restrictive and you cant gobble down everything you once did. You have to work your tool and there are very few people who have lost 2 to 2.5 pounds a week on ww consitently (the key word here). If they did, it would have worked for many of us who have tried and tried and failed. Its your decision but dont be delusioned into thinking that its an easy fix or that you dont have to be careful what you eat after the surgery. Its working great for me and I love that I am not hungry and it makes me able to make better choices and not stuff myself. I have been more successful in the first two months than I ever have with anything else. I lost 11 pounds in the past month and I think thats pretty good, for a total of 37 since surgery 8/8. thats two months and three days. It took me five months to loose that with ww and I gained all back DOUBLE within a few years. This for me is a more permanent solution to keeping my weight off and being healthy. Good luck to you! I am so thankful I saw your post. your signature line has been very helpful to me. I am 2 weeks out and only down 11-12 pounds and seem to be having my "3 week" stall a bit early. I walk, and walk and walk, and have been good with my protein and fluids - it is frustrating to hear you loose the most at the beginning and then you aren't loosing.
  17. I didn't really have the famous "3 week stall" but by three months out or so, I started getting my period again, and now I stall for 2-5 weeks every time I get my period. I just finally came out of a 5 week stall, thankfully. It's going to be frustrating every time it happens, but it IS going to happen a lot. Despite my huge stalls every month, sometimes for most of the month, I've still lost almost 120 since the day of surgery 6.5 months ago. It all evens out in the end. Hang in there!
  18. Can you tell I'm VERY type A and have like zero patience??? Does it show??? Lol I know the 3 week stall is a huge thing but it still sucks ! One thing you will have to learn through this whole process is patience. Sometimes, even when we are doing everything right, our bodies don't always want to cooperate. You have to just stay the course or try to change things up to get things moving again. This particular stall? There is ZERO you can do but stay the course. Oh, and stay off the scale

    Struggling!

I can understand the uninterest in food as I went through that but set my phone alarm every three hours to eat something and forced myself no matter how small the meal/snack was. Your body has gone through a huge shock and along with that your head has too. Do you have a therapist you can talk to? You don't have your stats showing so I don't know if you are starting from a lower BMI so can't comment about the weight however you are on week three with the infamous 3 week stall. So pack the scales away, keep to the programme and check in another week, hard to do but will stop the head f**ks. Have you spoken to your NUT about starting other foods? Best of luck and congrats on the surgery! Hang on in there, it'll get better

    What Is Your Biggest Fear?

I think re-gaining is one of my biggest fears for the future. I am at the weight I said was my goal, but 5 pounds from that of my doctor. I've been stalled for over a month now and it is frustrating trying to find the right combo between working out, calories, and rest. Right now, my fear is that i will never be satisfied. Everyone tells me how great I look and that "I will get blown away" and that "there is a limit to how skinny a person can be". I just don't see it. I am not confident in my own skin yet. My husband (who also had surgery) and had a heart to heart with me. He told me that he needs me to be satisfied. He is concerned that I will become obsessive about losing these 5 pounds and then I still won't be happy and I will continue to obsess which can dictate my moods somewhat. I think this stall has been the hardest outside of the initial 3 week stall. I guess because I am so close to my doctor's goal.

3 weeks post op and stalled.

3 week stall is unavoidable for most. Just stick with it.

3 weeks post op and stalled.

Do a search on the forums here for "3 week stall" and you'll see that not only has it happened to "anyone" it happens to just about everyone. It's so common that this question gets posted here every single day! Not kidding! Keep doing what you are supposed to be doing and stay off the scale for a couple of weeks if it is going to drive you crazy. And hang on, because you will stall again during weight loss, even when you are doing all the right things.
