Calling all A11s!!
chicholicious replied to CarynW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone! Happy New Year!! Hope everyone had a great holiday and we all made out thru ok. GG- I'm glad you doing well. Ms. Lady- Just wanted to let you know I went thru the same episodes of throwing up thick saliva. It used to happen when I over eat and eat to fast. It happen to me in the car, good thing I had a cup. I'm so sorry to read what happen to you at the consession counter. Jess527- Congradulations on your pregnancy! I wish you the best of luck!! CarynW- I reallly admire your strength with sweets. I bought right after the holidays a tub of blue bunny Icecream and everynight, before I go to bad I eat around 3 teaspoons. Last night was just a little left that I almost licked the tub dry!! But by reading your determination. I will make a promise of also not eating anymore icecream.... well... until summer time. I've reached my sweetspot/green zone on Dec. 25th! Since then I have only been able to eat 2 to 3oz. and lost 6lbs. since then. I'm have lost a total of 40Lbs. I was do for a fill on Jan. 3rd and my doctor congradulated me and told me I didn't need one. I'm scheduled for an adjustment in Feb. if in case I need it. Don't get me wrong I fluctuate 2lbs up and down. But I rather loose it slow then quickly. I will also not deprive myself of what I enjoy eating. I just eat 2oz of it now, compare to eating 2Lbs. of food. I take all my meds and vitamins and drink as much liquids as possible. I also had a NSV moment when I picked up a pair of jeans left behind the bathroom door and they where tight! I got scared that I had gained weight over night, and when I tooked them off found out that they where my daughter's size 8 jeans!! I was absolutely extatic! I'm almost fitting with my 21 yr. old daughter's clothes! She isn't going to like the sound of that. -
Out 12 Days....,,frustrated!
Ms skinniness replied to Kthump's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can't wait until you have the realization that your pants have gotten way too big the afternoon you put them on! That's an NSV to have. I remember having my pants be a great fit in the am and the pm, they were sagging on my body. They weren't stretch pants either. It was a time when my body was readjusting in inches. At that time I wasn't weighing myself on a daily basis, just every few weeks. Now I weigh myself daily and it drives me crazy. Need to stop weighing. -
Out 12 Days....,,frustrated!
Lissa replied to Kthump's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kthump, Search for 3 week stall, although it sounds like yours may be starting a little early. Especially if you lost a good bit of weight on the pre-op diet, the stall kicks in and you may not lose anything for several days. It is normal, natural, and it will pass. Theories abound, but I think it's our body's way of readjusting to all the changes after surgery. You have gone from eating whatever you like to barely putting any calories in and your body says "Whoa!" The weight loss will resume, but this is a great time to measure yourself and see the changes in your size/shape that are going on. I walked out of my first size lost during a stall. I hadn't dropped anything pound-wise in days, then I put on my work pants and they fell to the floor. That's a big WOW moment, and it happened when I thought I wasn't losing anything. Look for the NSVs (non scale victories) and pay attention to the inches lost, especially during stalls. The stalls will happen, but they usually mean that you're losing inches as things adjust themselves. good luck!! -
NSV! I gave up my brownie! LOL!! Before I would have claimed ownership of it, today, I took a nibble, gave 1/2 to my daughter and the other 1/2 to my friend! Felt really good that that little chocolate brownie didn't rule me. :0}

A NSV is a Non-Scale Victory. And there will be plenty for all of us.

I know what the scale says I weigh, but sometimes it doesn't seem real. I have worn a size 2x pantyhose, and Queen sized knee highs for years. Yesterday I decided to buy some hose, and I was lost in the store. After buying several things and them not fitting, I found out, I'm a size A hose, and now "One Size Fits All" applies to me! I love my sleeve!

Surgery Less Than 36 Hours Away! Whew...nervous
Ms skinniness replied to Joiebean's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is one of the hardest any of us will ever do. However, this has been the most rewarding for myself. There are times when I find myself worried that I'm in a stall, but after reading stuff from other members of our BIG LOSER's ClUB, I have decided to just go through the process and enjoy each new day. Today and the past few days I have had some NSV's (non surgery victories) like being able to bend down and tie my shoes and a tremendous burst of energy. Loving it. Even if I'm thinking about being in a stall, I get so into trying to trigger weight loss that I wasn't enjoying today. So, today I am choosing to trust that my weight will come off. Love it..... -
2012 Auld Lang Syne Challenge
Jennifer S replied to larrypdot's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jenn S checking in. I am down 2 lbs this week to 211. I also had a great NSV today in that I went and bought some work pants and bought a 16w which is a size I haven't been in since high school. They are tight but they button and fit over my hips. I think a couple more weeks and they will be perfect! -
I have alot of trouble with salad. Stay away from iceberg lettuce, for some reason it is hard to chew up. Also, I agree, you may still be slightly swollen, and the excitement for the wedding could be a factor too, take it easy for a few days. You might want to go back to liquids. Congratuations on the "new attitude" and NSV's galore. Karen

So thank YOU and congratulations on everything. *inserts Rocky sound track and starts to do the happy dance for Pasquini* Good thing this is a computer because me dancing could be a little scary LOL -

Down 26 lbs since surgery on 12/19. Down 37 lbs total. Great NSV - put on a pair of jeans for the first time in years! -
NSVs this week: 1. Had to buy new bras because mine were allowing the girls to escape. 2. Had to buy a new pair of jeans. Mine came off without being unbuttoned or unzipped. Unfortunately, the new ones are already looking baggy. 3. Saw a friend's hubby this week for a sad occasion. I don't see him much, but , when I went to hug my friend's hubby, HE commented on how much weight I've lost. 4. Chopped down and cut up four trees in my new yard. Okay, they weren't huge, but still a lot of work I'd have never been able to tackle before surgery. I got a decent work out, but was able to do the job myself instead of waiting on "some man" to come do the job. 5. In the same vein, I've spent a bunch of time rearranging furniture and crawling on the floor to re-route computer, cable, and printer wires. I'd have NEVER been able to do that 81 pounds ago! Overall, I'm very pleased with my progress!!!

At the advice of my doctor, I went to see a nutritionist this past Wednesday. Well I guess technically she's a "wellness nurse" but my doc called her a nutritionist, and that's basically what she does. I was nervous because I didn't know what to expect. I guess all these years of being treated as sub-human by health professionals because of my weight has really taken a toll on me. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that she was very nice, supportive, and upbeat. Almost a little too upbeat. I think of myself as a generally positive person, but the people who wake up spouting sunshine just drive me a little bit crazy. In any case, she seemed very optimistic about my chances for success. It surprised her that I have already been making so many positive changes, and she was pretty happy with the diet I put myself on. I agreed to start seeing her twice a month to do weigh-ins and some tweaking to my diet. She mentioned in passing that she thought everything I had done so far would be a sign to the insurance company that I am really serious and committed. But she also said that phrase I keep hearing, "Maybe you'll do so well you won't need the surgery!" I would love to not need the surgery, and I'll definitely stay open to the idea that I might not need it, but since all of my past efforts have only gotten me to 370 pounds and frustrated, I have my doubts. There were many times that I have been serious and committed to losing weight, and some times that I did lose a fair amount, but obviously that didn't stay off. But we will see. On a more positive note, I am beginning to gain some ground in my battle against overeating. For a long time now, I have been one of those people who will clean my dinner plate, then eat whatever my son didn't finish because "I don't want to be wasteful." I've been fighting hard to break that habit, and I can say with some measure of pride that I have gone almost a week without doing that. I realized that by eating that leftover food, I am not doing a good thing. It's not all that wasteful to throw out a few spoonfuls of food. Not to mention the extra calories I was "wasting" by eating it! So that has finally begun to sink in. Can I have an NSV before I've been banded? And I've also been sticking to the rule that I set with my nutritionist - no eating after 9 pm. Period. Which was rough that first day. My stomach felt like it was turning inside out, and my brain was screaming at me to go find something to eat ASAP or I would die. I did the emotional equivalent of sticking my fingers in my ears and yelling "I can't heeeeeeear youuuuu... lalalalala" and I survived! So yay for small victories, because sometimes they're the most impactful ones.

Hey y'all!! I love reading the progress from Sleevers who had VSG around the same time as me. I had VSG on 12/28. I was 255 for my preop diet. 240 the day of surgery and 225 today. One of my employees told me that I looked different. He said he couldn't put his finger on it but I looked like my twin!!! That really made my day. I'm going to try on some old 16 pants today-- hope they fit! (: -
