I'm great???? Just playing the waiting game... I'm sure you know all about it. But today's my last class! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using the BariatricPal App You are the Best!!! Thank you Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using the BariatricPal App I can't gag down any of the shakes. Way to thick. I've tried Quest brand all flavors. Vanilla by far is the worst for me, but I've never been a sweets type. I stick with the unflavored nectar and add it to broth or yogurt so far. I'm excited to try the fruit Nectar ones. I heard a lot of good things. Also unjury chicken has some good reviews. Sent from my Y538 using the BariatricPal App I'm still pre op...we shall see ???? Splenda

How much Splenda are you planning to consume in a day? If I'm having fat-free yogurt or a cup of coffee I use one packet of Splenda. If I'm going to bake something I use Swerve. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16
  4. It is 2 weeks today. I have lost 14lbs. I feel pretty good. I get tired quickly. Iam sure that is because of the lack of calories going in. This is a process you DEFINATELY can't rush. I had my blood work taken and everything was good. My Iron was very high but that is bc of the blood transfusion. I take my Vitamins everyday and am getting monthly B12 shots at my family doctors office. Iam still on puréed/soft food and am totally ok with that. I like apple sauce, Greek yogurt and Soups. I made a really good lentil soup on the weekend. Lots of Protein. Your day is quickly approaching!!! Next week! Take a deep breath. Know the beginning isn't easy but each day you get physically stronger which helps. Be prepared, ur brain takes MUCH longer to catch up. Your brain has no idea what u did to your body and thinks it can eat. HA! Tricked you brain! The body has taken over this challenge! Lol. Keep In touch. Ask any questions you like, I'm here! 5. My husband, who is not overweight, is awesome!! We have a food scale, measuring cups, and measuring spoons. He is weighing and measuring our food. I work in a professional position and I can do my job from anywhere via computer, cell phone, WebEx, Facetime, etc. Therefore, I pick and chose which days I go in the office or work remotely. He is so supportive and if I say I'm going into the office he will measure out my food and put it in containers and into my bag. He knows one of the things I have struggled with in the past was sips, bites, nibbles, and tastes. Since he is dishing up the food I am no longer eating an extra spoonful, sampling a taste, licking the spoon, etc. My husband also plans what he is going to eat in front of me. So if he wants a cookie he knows that would be hard for me to watch. He quietly takes his cookie and goes into another room or waits until I'm in the shower, etc. I can smell on Sunday morning that he made toast, and I'm fine as long as I'm busy and not watching him eat it. I walk downstairs and he has a bowl of FF yogurt with blueberries ready for me. I love my husband.

hi Lola I'm not a fan of wasting anything exspecially money.... I wish they did the little sample trays like they do at Sam's or BJ's but nope I haven't seen any yet but I will check walmart I do like their prices. thanks Hi Raymia, I am currently in the preop liquid stage and I have wasted quite a bit of moola on disgusting shakes too. I finally found Atkins shakes (15g) and they are delicious. They come in packs of 4. The mocha, milk chocolate, cafe caramel, and dark chocolate are favorites. To switch it up french vanilla and strawberry are good too. You can usually find in a Walmart or Target. costco has a case of Premier Protein in an 18 pack. Its good too with twice the protein (30g) of Atkins but just one flavor. One flavor gets pretty old quickly so I stay with Atkins for variety. These brands are both creamy and the container makes it easy for on the go or slow lifestyles. On a side note...do not fall for Advantage shakes, only the package looks good. The shake comes put clumpy and yogurt like with a weird aftertaste. I hope this helps you. Aloha, Flo Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

    post op q's!

1&2: My pain was horrible but I also had a hernia repair. I made sure to ask for meds when my pain level was at like a 2 or 3 because let's be real it takes nurses awhile to get the meds then for the meds to kick in. I also found that ice packs were a god sent after surgery to help with pain control. Definitely get up and walk around to help with the gas 3: keep drinking!! My doctor had a regiment set 4oz an hour...make sure you take slow sips, to this day I still get some pain if I take to big of a sip and I'm pain free (1wk post op) 4: As far as the dogs I have 2 dogs that like to lay on me as well and to be honest you won't want them on your stomach (atleast I didn't the thought made me cringe) so I kept a pillow there for "protection" just in case. 5: my post op appointment was yesterday and doc said when you are back to yourself and def not on the pain meds..makes sense since he sent me home with liquid narcotics 6: 1 week post op and I've lost 17lbs so I guess it depends on the person but from my 6 years of research and various contacts it's supposedly going to come off quickly. Yay!! 7: my recovery hasn't been too bad so far but don't over exert yourself for sure...make sure you still get plenty of rest 8: I have no problem sleeping on my stomach now but for the first few days I slept semi reclined like in a recliner...helped with the gas pain too!! 9: post op diet...I'm shocked they didn't tell you this as well...in the hospital I was only allowed Water and ice until I had my contrast test then "bariatric clear liquids" so broth sugar free Jello etc. I continuously was letting ice melt in my mouth because it didn't hurt to swallow the miniscule amount. Hospital jello was crap but when I got home for the last week I lived on Protein shakes, v8+h20, h2o, tomato Soup, jello (box has less after taste) and my doctor allowed me to have 4oz activia yogurt only the vanilla 10: my hair hasn't fallen out Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App

  12. I've got two kids, 11 and 7. I have always gone out of my way to make certain they get healthy foods and healthy portion sizes. It was hell for me growing up fat, and I do not want the same for them. Therfore, our diet overall did not really change. I cut out carbs from dinner, but they have them Breakfast and lunch (which I make for them). I've always told my kids they must participate in a sport. I don't care which, but they must be active. Both of them do Tae Kwon Do and love it, so since I was always at the dojang with them, I joined up. I love it, and they love having me in class. When we go out to eat, my husband and I look for things we can split. He changes his order to accommodate me, and I really appreciate it. We go out a lot more for sushi than we used to because sashimi is always a great choice for me. I hate coffee and licorice, so now when someone brings home a treat, it's mocha or tiramisu or something else I won't touch. Mostly, though, when they need something special, my husband will drive them to the frozen yogurt shop or the patisserie. They're careful not to bring temptation into the house. My husband and kids used to go out a lot without me. Now, I'm always with them. This winter we've gone skiing, to the trampoline park, hiking, ice skating, and biking. Last year, I couldn't have done any of those things. My family is so happy that I'm a full participant in their lives now. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

The thought of food makes me sick

My Dr. told me about this....and he seemed blase about it. I thought ok, its normal, I guess. But I am 2 1/2 months out. Lost 70 pounds and virtually nothing seems palatable to me. Except...sadly, carbs. I can have a small piece of cake or some bread and I am ok. But beef, chicken, meat...and most everything else....BLECH. Protein shakes are ok. Greek Yogurt, and cheese. THANK GOD for sugar free popsicles. I guess now that I write this, it really is only 2 1/2 months...and that is basically a drop in the bucket. But while I am glad that my relationship with food is starting to change....it is also frustrating that I dont want anything other than cheese, almonds or Protein Shakes. Anyway....the 70 pounds is a huge consolation...right?!
  14. I am going to give you all the facts. Pre-op I was consuming avg 1300 calories a day in June, which each month went down a bit and about Sept I was at 1000 calories per day. October 800 to 900 per day. From August to surgery day (11-3) I lost about 50 lbs, and since surgery about 7 lbs. I have been in a stall since week 2! My calories avg 500-600 right now. Getting all my Water in (100 oz), most days all my Protein. Not eating "sliders". I am cleared to eat anything but raw veggies and steak. I am exercising several times a week, treadmill and weight machine. I am exhausted. I throw up food daily. I cannot tolerate beef (ground), or any type of fish. I am going from zero shakes a day to having them be my main source of food again. I'm not hungry, which is great. I cannot handle all the vomiting while not losing weight either! Tonight it was tuna salad. Just a couple of bites. It came back up. I am separating the drinking and eating. I chew till it's watery mush. I avoid dry foods. I throw up water, yogurt, and cottage cheese, not just solids. I don't over eat. Some times even the first swallow of water feels stuck, especially right when I wake up. Yes, I take my Vitamins. Yes, I called the doctor. (No return call) I even emailed. No response from that either. I went into urgent care last week. She ran liver tests (?) and said check in with Bariatric. Bariatric doesn't return calls. I have a telephone appt with the nutritionist Thursday. I wouldn't feel so miserable about being miserable if I was at least losing. We are heading to Disneyland next week and I am worrying about being able to keep up with my teens. Any idea what I can do to help the weight start coming off? As for my other issues, I feel it may be a stricture. I'll call the Doc again. Thanks for listening. Julie

    Phentermine after 5 month stall

Drop the carbs and the yogurt. Increase your protein. you should be able to have 3-4 ounces of meat at a time. I would ditch the premier shake too honestly, and replace it with meat unless you really just can't eat and that is your only option. Cut out all processed foods (and Protein shakes are fake processed foods), and eat lean meats you cook yourself, get up to 90 grams of protein and I am pretty sure you will see the scale moving. Even with your not intense workouts you are still probably burning more calories than you are intaking. You need more protein to fuel yourself. Thank you for all your advice. It gets so confusing sometimes, sometimes I'm told I'm not eating enough calories and then I'm told I'm eating too much ! It's so confusing !Yes I feel the same way its like I don't know how many calories my body needs. Sent from my LG-K330 using the BariatricPal App

3+ Year "Vet" Willing to Help!

Congrats on your success. I would appreciate some mentoring. I am one year out and it is getting a little tougher. I have a chronic immune issue that makes exercise a tad difficult to maintain. I have gained 5 pounds, and I still need to lose my final 10 (for me)/20 (for my surgeon). Going back to the basics, because I got hooked on yogurt pretzels. That's been my biggest sin so far. K. Unjury Protein

Hello I use the unflavored unjury Protein powder in cream of celery and cream of chicken soup, as well as tomato basil soup and I can't even tell that it's been added to the Soups. I also add the Unjury to non fat refried Beans and yogurt, and can't detect the flavor of the Protein Powder at all in those things. I tried Unjury in my lemonade flavored Crystal Light and I did notice it changed the flavor, and I didn't like it. Maybe if I had added less protein powder it would have been tolerable. You'll just have to play with it and see if you can try it in the Crystal Light and other drinks, such as Powerade Zero and decaf iced tea.
  20. I am exactly one week post op, I started losing about a pound a day then I starting gaining a pound a day and now I am right back to my pre-surgery weight. I'm so frustrated. I have no problems getting in all my liquids and protein, I track my calories and gett anywhere from 600- 900 calories a day. I'm on full liquids, I have not cheated, but I also have no restriction, I can easily finish the whole container of yogurt when I eat. Any advice
