Liliana, thank you for the encouragement, I went shopping with my daughter and bought a size 8 pair of slacks! This is a great NSV moment. I have been in a stall since Xmas and have been losing inches. I guess my body is readjusting.LOL

Jan. 16 2012- The Day My Life Will Changed

i was just banded dec 13th and its been very easy . i was in and out of the hospital in about 5 hrs ! i wish i had a roll of lifesavers with me for right after surgery, as the water and nonstop ice chips couldnt get rid of the horrible cottonmouth i had all day. im down 13 lbs, and 1 pant size ! wait until you have your 1st nsv (non scale victory ), you'll be so glad you did this ! good luck to you !
  6. This is one of the hardest any of us will ever do. However, this has been the most rewarding for myself. There are times when I find myself worried that I'm in a stall, but after reading stuff from other members of our BIG LOSER's ClUB, I have decided to just go through the process and enjoy each new day. Today and the past few days I have had some NSV's (non surgery victories) like being able to bend down and tie my shoes and a tremendous burst of energy. Loving it. Even if I'm thinking about being in a stall, I get so into trying to trigger weight loss that I wasn't enjoying today. So, today I am choosing to trust that my weight will come off. Love it.....
  7. Jenn S checking in. I am down 2 lbs this week to 211. I also had a great NSV today in that I went and bought some work pants and bought a 16w which is a size I haven't been in since high school. They are tight but they button and fit over my hips. I think a couple more weeks and they will be perfect!

    Stuck? And An Update!

I have alot of trouble with salad. Stay away from iceberg lettuce, for some reason it is hard to chew up. Also, I agree, you may still be slightly swollen, and the excitement for the wedding could be a factor too, take it easy for a few days. You might want to go back to liquids. Congratuations on the "new attitude" and NSV's galore. Karen
  9. Not sure why you are so surprised! I knew you would make it. I have watched you throughout your journey my friend and from the beginning I saw the strength and determination you had to reach your goal. The NSV's you posted along the way showed how happy and healthy you were getting. You haved encouraged and inspired everyone around you as well. So thank YOU and congratulations on everything. *inserts Rocky sound track and starts to do the happy dance for Pasquini* Good thing this is a computer because me dancing could be a little scary LOL
  10. Down 26 lbs since surgery on 12/19. Down 37 lbs total. Great NSV - put on a pair of jeans for the first time in years!

    NSV shout outs

NSVs this week: 1. Had to buy new bras because mine were allowing the girls to escape. 2. Had to buy a new pair of jeans. Mine came off without being unbuttoned or unzipped. Unfortunately, the new ones are already looking baggy. 3. Saw a friend's hubby this week for a sad occasion. I don't see him much, but , when I went to hug my friend's hubby, HE commented on how much weight I've lost. 4. Chopped down and cut up four trees in my new yard. Okay, they weren't huge, but still a lot of work I'd have never been able to tackle before surgery. I got a decent work out, but was able to do the job myself instead of waiting on "some man" to come do the job. 5. In the same vein, I've spent a bunch of time rearranging furniture and crawling on the floor to re-route computer, cable, and printer wires. I'd have NEVER been able to do that 81 pounds ago! Overall, I'm very pleased with my progress!!!
  12. At the advice of my doctor, I went to see a nutritionist this past Wednesday. Well I guess technically she's a "wellness nurse" but my doc called her a nutritionist, and that's basically what she does. I was nervous because I didn't know what to expect. I guess all these years of being treated as sub-human by health professionals because of my weight has really taken a toll on me. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that she was very nice, supportive, and upbeat. Almost a little too upbeat. I think of myself as a generally positive person, but the people who wake up spouting sunshine just drive me a little bit crazy. In any case, she seemed very optimistic about my chances for success. It surprised her that I have already been making so many positive changes, and she was pretty happy with the diet I put myself on. I agreed to start seeing her twice a month to do weigh-ins and some tweaking to my diet. She mentioned in passing that she thought everything I had done so far would be a sign to the insurance company that I am really serious and committed. But she also said that phrase I keep hearing, "Maybe you'll do so well you won't need the surgery!" I would love to not need the surgery, and I'll definitely stay open to the idea that I might not need it, but since all of my past efforts have only gotten me to 370 pounds and frustrated, I have my doubts. There were many times that I have been serious and committed to losing weight, and some times that I did lose a fair amount, but obviously that didn't stay off. But we will see. On a more positive note, I am beginning to gain some ground in my battle against overeating. For a long time now, I have been one of those people who will clean my dinner plate, then eat whatever my son didn't finish because "I don't want to be wasteful." I've been fighting hard to break that habit, and I can say with some measure of pride that I have gone almost a week without doing that. I realized that by eating that leftover food, I am not doing a good thing. It's not all that wasteful to throw out a few spoonfuls of food. Not to mention the extra calories I was "wasting" by eating it! So that has finally begun to sink in. Can I have an NSV before I've been banded? And I've also been sticking to the rule that I set with my nutritionist - no eating after 9 pm. Period. Which was rough that first day. My stomach felt like it was turning inside out, and my brain was screaming at me to go find something to eat ASAP or I would die. I did the emotional equivalent of sticking my fingers in my ears and yelling "I can't heeeeeeear youuuuu... lalalalala" and I survived! So yay for small victories, because sometimes they're the most impactful ones.
  13. Hey y'all!! I love reading the progress from Sleevers who had VSG around the same time as me. I had VSG on 12/28. I was 255 for my preop diet. 240 the day of surgery and 225 today. One of my employees told me that I looked different. He said he couldn't put his finger on it but I looked like my twin!!! That really made my day. I'm going to try on some old 16 pants today-- hope they fit! (:

  15. wow ! ive only been banded 1 month and ive had nothing but supportive comments from family a nd co workers who know about it. i feel great , and ive lost 15lbs total. in the last 2 days ive received 2 compliments about how good im looking! some of my old clothes fit and so im dressing nicer. if sombody gives you grief about anything just explain youre doing something healthy for your body. wait until you get your 1st nsv ! 16. Not a problem getting it off pre-surgery, but now I can't wear it post. I was talking with a co-worker gesturing with my hands when my ring flew off of my finger! I will get it sized probably around my 1 year surgiversary. Just one NSV to look forward to.

    Nsv! (one Of My First!)

I love your NSVs, and you look great! Going to the salon is always an uncomfortable experience when big. Those shampoo capes are so unflattering. Your hair is very pretty!
  18. Those are the BEST NSV I've ever read! I completely understand where you are coming from....my last cut before my surgery I almost tipped over in the salon chair when I was getting seated. I was so embarrassed and my hairdresser was shocked. After reading your post, I can't wait to go back and see how easy it is to sit in those chairs!!!! I'm so happy for you!!! Thx for the pics. You look beautiful! There are more NSVs to come, too!!!

    Breaking Up With Food!

Remember that the scale isn't the only place where you see results. I was very surprised when I was going down in sizes but the scale was staying the same. I guess that's called NSV (non scale victories). Your body just readjusts the weight and its wonderful.
