I had to return clothes! :)

I had my first really awesome NSV today. I had ordered some new school clothes for fall (I'm a teacher) when the catalog was having a great sale, and ordered all my tops in a 3X (my usual size). They arrived today and were huge...not just a little too roomy, but HUGE. I don't think I've ever been so happy to pay return shipping costs in my life. Can't wait until I can shop in cheaper regular stores and not be stuck with ordering online.

I finally have a NSV. Okay this morning I went to my closet and pulled out a pair of jogging pants that I brought in February and they appeared to look really small (you know from one of the outlets that carry irregular items) and decided to put them on they fit great, I even had room so to top that off I pulled out a t shirt to wear with them and got my teenage daughter to tie the shirt up in the back and she said "wow mom you look good, your butt looks smaller and your hips have gone down". She sees me everyday and for her to notice just set my day off. I feel GREAT! Not to mention I'm going to the Doctor for a fill today and I know it's going to be positive.

Becca - that is just about the sweetest thing I've ever heard of! I cannot imagine my DH buying any clothing at all for me, unless of course, it was some sort of lingerie that he felt would ultimately benefit him...lol! Rhapsody - I have the same NSV today! I have a wrap that I wear with my engagement ring and over the last year, it had gotten tight. It was wearable, but sometimes my fingers would swell in warmer months and it would feel way too tight. I took it off about 2 months ago and started wearing my wedding band again instead. Well yesterday I decided to try the wrap again and it fit! Just perfect!

You are all doing so awesome! It does make it a bit harder to drive without the aid of our belly :tongue2: I think we can deal with that. I have two awesome NSV's We went to visit my uncle, whom I haven't seen in about a year, we had a lovely visit and came on home. The phone was ringing when we walked in the door. It was my uncle. He said,"I forgot to tell you that you have lost a lot of weight and look terrific. I'm proud of you" That made my day! On Saturday I went shopping, walked into OLD NAVY, a store I have never even been in, and found a top that almost fit. It will fit in another 5 lbs or so. I was so excited that I bought it. It's been a great week!

Great thread! I love to hear these NSV's! Today I wore a favorite sweater that I haven't been able to put on in a long time . . . but I was able to get it on today without a problem! It felt so nice! And my wedding ring was getting tight, I honestly was afraid to wear it, thinking it might get stuck :blushing: But today I slipped it on without a problem! WOOT! Keep up the good work all!
  7. Well, the scale is still just crawling along for me, but I did have a nice NSV yesterday. I bought and wore a pair of size 14 jeans. They were the same exact jeans I'd been wearing in a size 16 since the end of November, just a size smaller now. I thought about going ahead and buying the same pair in a 12 as well, but I didn't want to push my luck. Edit: I'll be taking progress pics on Wednesday and I'll be sure to post here when I do.
  8. So, I'm in reasonably nice food hall, which belongs to a major brand in the UK; picking up a couple of nice bits to munch on for the weekend. Noticing that my food bill has been slashed dramatically in the process and since this thang.. Anyway, I decide to exit through the clothing bit and spot a dress on sale. I think 'hmm, that's nice. Do I really 'do' lace though? Besides, is it be big enough?'. I ummed and ahhed over it for about 5 minutes - purely because I didn't want the embarrassment of getting it stuck over my shoulders cause it was too small. Anyway, after lots of mental debating, i decided to try it on. It fit. I didn't get it as it happened, because the lace aspect did my head in.. But as I left and trotted on down the high street, I couldn't help but walk into another lovely dress shop. Found a jacket I really liked. Lady approached me and said 'May I help you?'. I replied with 'Umm, yeah.. Do you have this jacket in a size 20-22 please?' She looked me up and down as if I'd come from Mars and replied 'Erm, you don't need that size my dear. You need a 16-18.' I have been neither of those sizes for nearly 15 years... I can see that THIS might be a problem in the future. I could be a size 14, but will still see a size 22-24 in the mirror.... I may have to work on that. In the meantime... size 16-18?! I'll bloody take it! Yipppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeee!

    NSV brought me to tears

Congratulations on you NSV, may you have many more in 2014. :-)
  13. This weekend is going to be mind blowing for me. I asked my husband to take the motorized chair out of the house... I have found if I see it, I want to give in and use it. I don't need it. So bye bye chair!!! Another NSV : I pulled weeds for the first time in 15 - 20 years... I took my walker for stability walking on rocked driveway... So, put brakes on walker - stood up - walked to flower bed - pulled weeds - stood up - walked back to walker - sat down on walker - rested - drank some water I brought with me - moved walker - *** repeated for 3.5 hours *** Man that felt great! (I left the weeds on driveway and my husband picked them up and carted them away..)

    May sleever

Awesome scale victory and NSV! Keep up the good work.
  15. SO it will be 2 weeks tomorrow and I am doing great. I have learned a lot such as icecream makes me have chill, sweats and the worst sea sickness ever!! (BTW i would normally not have ice cream but I was stuck at a BaseBall Game with nothing to eat). Anything creamy makes me feel overloaded like I licked raw butter. YUK. I recently found that Isopure mixed with fruitpunch flavored crystal lite is the BOMB! For those who are post op and maybe having problems with going to the bathroom I wanted to suggest CHERRIES. I have been eating a couple cups of fresh raw cherries and it has enough Fiber or something that is making me go. WHICH ROCKS NSV LOL. Just be careful not to swallow the pit as that could really make HUGE trouble. I also found that ground up chicken, hummus and avacado makes a great protien and fiber dip. Hope all is well...:crying:

    Most Important NSVs

OK, I think that this is a good time to look at the results. The votes cast are as follows: 48 Clothes fit better 46 You are or feel healthier 42 You feel more confident in yourself 19 Your sex life is better 15 Family have complimented you 12 It's easier to play with the children 10 You find it easier to do jobs around the house 09 Work colleagues have complimented you 05 You enjoy playing sports now 04 You don't have to wear a CPAP mask now So, on this very unscientific poll, the top three most important NSVs are clear. Personally, I'm surprised about the top choice, that clothes fit better, beating (not by much) you are or feel healthier. Any comments?

    March sleevers hows everyone doing??

I'm tracking my progress a variety of ways... weight, body fat percentage, measurement, pictures, and of course, how my clothes fit. I was stuck at 215 for about a week (technically a stall is longer than that) , I started feeling a little frustrated, so I pulled out a pair of "too small pants" that had been too tight on the tummy... And they fit!! Progress!!! Think about those NSV and all the little things. The other morning I got out of bed wearing a short nightie and noticed how much smaller my legs look. My rings are fitting looser. My bras need to be on the tightest hooks. I have big calfs and can't wear tall boots (not even my hubby barn boots) but today?? I was walking past them and though "maybe??" and low and behold, my leg slides in! Celebrate every single little moment!

    Getting on Plane this Sunday

At under 300 pounds you shouldn't need to worry that they won't let you fly or will require a second seat. You are making great progress and your internal mental image may not be in synch with your new trimmer body. I'm sure everything will go smoothly and you will be pleasantly surprised at how much you have changed since the last time you flew! Keep up the good work and be prepared for a NSV when you realize how much easier it is to travel at less than 300 pounds! I am flying for the first time post surgery on 9/29 and am hoping I won't need the extender this time! We have to embrace and rejoice in the little victories along the path to a healthy body!

    So just what is success?

Great topic Gowalking! Through this journey the meaning of success is ever changing for me. At first it was ok I need to loss 50% of my excess weight within one year, then it was I need to get to onederland, then it was to hit my goal weight and now it's like you said it's the desire to sustain where I'm at right now for the rest of my life. It was all the little victories along the way that meant the most to me and motivated me to keep going. The NSVs of going down a size or two, going to the Dr. and having tests done and everything coming back perfect, it's in the smiles on my family's face when they see how happy I am to be able to do something I wasn't able to do one year ago, it's that feeling of self-worth at the end when all is said and done that I set out to do this for myself to become healthy and of course look and feel human and have done just that. It's about being the person I've always been on the inside but at times was hesitant because of my outward apperance. I would like to encourange others through my experiences along this journey to help someone else who is where I was, that is what ULTIMATE success looks like for me. I want to be able to give others hope regardless of their current situation that they can change their life.
  25. Carly, I am almost 2 years out from my sleeve. I started my journey at 304 pounds and am now at 170 pounds. My goal weight is 140 lbs so I am still 30 lbs from goal and I have def been a slow loser ( or at least I feel I have) Most girls I have talked to have reached goal in less than 2 years. But I myself feel that I couldnt of lost 160 lbs in 2 years if I wanted to! I am in no rush to "get to goal." Sometimes its hard to not compare ourselves with others, but I am convinced that slow and steady wins a race. I have been in this darn stall for 6 weeks and am ready to see the numbers moving. But enjoy this journey and all the NSV's along the way. You will do just fine!
