    Question

I wasn't force to eat all my food, but since little I love eating. I wasn't over weight. If the food was extra good I was getting another serving. I can eat non stop & didn't gain weight. After having children is when I started gaining & got fat. I never had issues with eating & gaining till after having kids.

    Nutritionist /Cardiology

There has been evidence to that for years, and I am a prime example. They say you gain weight as a shield, that if you are fat your molester will leave you alone. And that many people start to feel vunerable as they lose weight and become "more attractive" and it is can cause to regaining the weight or stopping your attempts to lose weight. There have been many studies about this, as well as other types of abusive households with children in them, obesity is much more prevelant.

    Hi everyone!

So I am getting a little discouraged. I have basically only lost about 11lbs since November. I know where I am struggling, and that is with my food obsession. I snack a lot. And I don't exercise. Today I am only 203lbs , 51lbs from my highest weight. I need to make serious lifestyle changes and not waste my money and life on this surgery. I see others who had the surgery in my group and they have lost 70-80lbs in the 5 months going on 6 months postoperative.
  6. I decided that I had to do something after I realized that I was continuing to have health issues that was attributed to my weight. Without telling anyone, I signed up to begin my journey and started my journey in Feb 2016 to a much healthier and happier life. My stats were as follows: HW 325; SW 289; CW 268 57 lbs down in total 21 lbs down since surgery (1.5 months) I was sleeved on 12/21 and recovery went well. I couldn't have made a better decision. Sharing my progress with you all... Wishing everyone a successful journey and stay tuned for more updates. Sent from my iPhone
  7. Congratulations on your weight loss.....you sure lost a lot of weight in a very short period of time....

    New-Banded June 10th

I was banded on the 9th. Things are going well although I admit to craving my families dinner and having to stop myself from taking a bite. I have very little pain, just a little soreness. Today I walked 2 miles. It felt good. I am determined to lose this weight and keep it off for good. But I realize it's a marathon and not a sprint. I have a friend who had the gastric sleeve procedure in April, she has already lost 60 LBS. She has a lot of difficulty eating and some dumping syndrome. So the slow pace of the band is obviously better on our bodies. Good Luck! Rhonda url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/woap9q6/] [/url]

    1/4 of the weight gone

We have almost the same stats. I started out at 370 lbs, now I'm 344, and I hope to get down to a size 12 (I still don't have a goal weight, I guess whatever someone who wears a size 12 weighs) . I'm cheering you on! SD:8/21/13

    Lovemeacb4e Screams!!!!!!!!!

Tell them you have a group of women that will come and kick their butts if they don't start treating you better. What type of job are you doing? Why do they know what you type in your computer? Personally I would NOT care what the other co-workers thought. I would do my job and just be NICE and SMILE to them. Dont' let them see how much it bothers you or they will just keep doing it. If there is one person that seems approachable then ask that person what the problem is? The supervisors won't do anything about it because it is not directly their problem. And it makes you look like a trouble maker every time you go to them. I know it is hard to deal with when you feel like the outcast but sometimes that is best. Just think when you have your surgery how much weight you will be losing and they will all want to know your secret then. They will be running to your desk and wanting to learn from you. Don't worry hun it will get better.

Insurance Said They Would Approve If..

All that helps your lapband dr too so he can submit to insurance as well, any diet programs you have tried, followed by dr. or not, any other dr. too who can provide weights. I include a copy of college transcript where it showed that I had fitness classes for 4 years. Good luck!
  14. I usually post on Obesity Help - Weight Loss Surgery, Obesity Support Groups, Obesity Forums, Surgical Procedures but I decided to stop by here. The more support the better!! I was banded May 13th and am doing great. I have lost 27lbs so far and feel pretty good. Can't wait to be a big loser!! My surgeon was awesome (his name is Tom Jones!!) . I do have a Lap Band web site -- the link is in my signature. I think that answers all the questions! Nice to meet you all!

    My Mother and WLS

I have not told anyone in my family Just my fiancee and a few coworkers none of my family live near me nor would I guess they care if I did tell them , I cannot understand how it should even matter to her unless that is her only way of showing she has any feelings whats so ever toward you . If she constantly ridicules you about your weight and embarasses you maybe you should tell her how you've been eating your feelings of resentment for the treatment she's been giving you , I know alot about that I'm the second chance kid 1st was a girl so try again for the boy failed at it again so stuck with 2 girls second hand clothes second hand shoes second hand love . That is how I felt all my life my fiancee is the only one that hasn't made me feel this way and when he met my sister told me he was the lucky one out of him and her husband . I was afraid once he met her he'd be disapointed in what he had so I never talked much about her nor the way I felt about her and my mom and dad . I'm doing this lap band for my kids myself and for him and our future I want to be with him happy and healthy for a long long time and I hope to make him even a bit of how happy hes made me. Sorry I guess I'm running on but anyway lifes to short to hang with downers even if they are family look up look out world cuz us banners are coming .
  16. I have been overweight most of my life, so I am expecting that I may have some loose skin. I'm already halfway to my goal, and the only thing I can gripe about is that my upper arms seem a bit more jiggly, although it seems like it is fat in the skin.... I'm not too worried about the skin issue now, as I am 100% focused on losing the weight. If I have lose skin, I'll deal with it when the time comes.
  17. As the others have said there isn't really anything you can do to prevent it. The good thing about excess skin is that it is far easier to hide than fat. When you have clothes on nobody sees it! But if you lose an huge amount of weight then you may find that you are left with excess skin which can be uncomfortable and pose health problems. Why not start saving now. maybe just pop the couple of dollars that you save by not buying junk food into a jar, it will soon start adding up. Then if you need the op and it is not covered you will have already saved a good proportion of the money required, if it turns out that you don't need any further surgery you can spend the money on a nice holiday or something instead.

    7 Months Out - Can't lose weight!!

I totally relate. Its been over 10 months for me and Im at 45 lbs. If I may offer a suggestion...start lifting heavy weights in your workouts. It will NOT make you bigger. The muscle building increases metabolism and burns more calories. I think you will see better results. Do that 3x/week. That being said....I have been lifting heavy for many years now and I still will only lose half of a pound a week.... maybe. Its very frustrating. I had no idea how hard , how much exercise and how much dieting was involved with this. Basically, I think the band contributes 15% but the rest is all up to us. I can eat whatever I want and if I sit there long enough....I can continue to eat. Im done with all the fills and un-fills. Im staying where Im at. I must now do what it takes on my own. Soooooo HARD!

    Newbie Here!

Welcome I got Approved my Bmi is 42.8. First after calling the insurance to see if your plan include it. and if they need a documented weight history. See if you meet the requirements. Find a Doctor that maybe they recommend. I ll be switching to one they recommend too because I'm concerned about experienced and good follow up care. My doctor said he never work with a WLS pt, so in switching. I simply followed the plan they recommended to me. It was the 6 month program not hard at all. They tried to. Deny me saying my company excluded WLS a last minute trick. I won within 3 hours of finding out about the denial. You can do it too! Good luck!
  21. Hey Everyone! I am new to this forum. I was planning on looking into LAP Banding, but after the weigh loss seminar I decided that the sleeve was the best option for me. I just scheduled my physical exam, nutrition seminar and 1:1 meeting with the nutritionist. I still have yet to even tell my dr about my decision for the weight loss surgery as the last time I brought it up she pretty much told me that I dont need it and that I just need to diet and exercise. I have to schedule an appointment to see her and have the paperwork completed that is required by the surgon, but I did ask at the seminar if my doctor's approval was necessary. He stated that although he likes to work with the PCP, if she is not going to be supportive, then I might want to look into a new doctor or just see the surgon's office for any issues or concerns. I have my physical exam on Jan 10th, which I am really excited about because I have a lot of questions regardin insurance. I was hoping that I might find some advice on here as well... My issue is that at the moment I am between 38-40 BMI (my scale broke so Im not quite sure) but I do have high blood pressure. Ive only had HBP for about a year, maybe a little more, and Ive never had a BMI of 40 (maybe when I was 13 and first diagnosed with hypothyroid). My BMI has always been around 35 and sometimes lower, although Ive been overweight since age 11. I am 5'5" and I havent been under 200lbs since I was 21. I am now 30. I am afraid that my health insurance wont apporove me since Ive only had a BMI of 35 or higher and a comorbidity for 1-2 years, but a BMI of 35 or more for 5+ years. Any advice as to whether its a good possibility that I will get approved. My surgon expressed that for his requirements I do not need to have the comorbidity for 5 years, but Im just worried about insurance. This is what my insurance states (I have Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield - Simply Blue and I am in Rochester NY): A: Patients must be morbidly obese, which is defined as either having a BMI greater than or equal to 40 kg/m2 or having a BMI greater than or equal to 35 kg/m2 and existing comorbid condition(s) (e.g., hypertensive cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease, pulmonary hypoventilation, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, dyslipidemias, diabetes, sleep apnea, degenerative arthritis of weight-bearing joints, or other weight related arthropathies, and metabolic syndrome). Documentation of the comorbid existing medical condition(s) must be submitted by the primary care physician. B. The condition of morbid obesity must be of at least 5 years duration. Hope someone can give me some insight!! I really want this surgery.

    Got my Date! NEXT WEEK!

woohoo!! That's wonderful! I think it's smart of you to start eating more protein now and less carbs....it helps prepare you for what's after surgery. I did....started drinking protein shakes for breakfast and lunch (as compared to nothing for either of those meals) and cutting out the carbs and I got a nice head start on my weight loss too!
  23. Hi all, I am in the insurance authorization stage. I'm 5'5" and I weigh 184 pounds. My goal weight is 120 (I'm a small framed woman). I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The dr. put me on meds for both, but the side effects are horrible and I don't want to take meds. My Dad had a stroke from high blood pressure at 55 and he passed away from heart attack at 61. My 68 year old Mom has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I feel like a walking time bomb. I've been overweight for the last 20 years (I'm 47) and I've tried every diet out there. I've lost weight and then regained it and I'm done with the rollercoaster. I want to get banded so that I re-learn how to have a healthy relationship eating the right amount of food for my body. My fear is that my insurance won't cover me since my BMI is 31 even though I have high BP and cholesterol and an awful family history. I hope and pray that the insurance will cover this. Sorry - I moved this to the insurance section Thanks for letting me vent. Sandy

    Beginning walking program:

This is some great information. I am actually starting a walking regimen myself. I decided nightly i will walk with the husband and son. Just to get things flowing and to start back on a routine. Im 1 week post op, so it has to be very relaxed until they give me the go ahead for real exercise. I wish you the best with the ankle. Maybe when you are at a healthier weight it wont be such a burden if you were a special brace and try that run? Ill stay optimistic for you

    Working Out after the Surgery

Guys, Is there anything I should know about working out after I get the sleeve? Like will I still be able to lift and gain muscle the same? Will I be able to push my self? Also, I love playing basketball, is there a possibility of still playing once I get cleared by the DR's and everything?
