  1. Is there such a thing? All of the ones I'm seeing have sugar unless it's plain. Sent from my Y538 using the BariatricPal App

    Starving

I got hungry on post op day 6. I ate some Protein with no sugar and I feel better. I drink all the time. I had a Soup with chicken broth and eggs. I blended well and it was so good and filling. I had the sleeve. I was given so yogurt but it was too sweet because I had a dumping episode after that. Add some protein in your diet slowly and see if that helps. 3. Yes, I sure found that out this morning. Not "one more morsel". I don't think I have room or even the appetite for adding another meal or snack, so I will accept the fact that I will stall and that I might not lost much weight until I get further down the road. It's really pretty important to get yourself to at least 600 calories/day, even if it's tedious. Are you adding Protein to your liquids or drinking shakes still? A 30 gram scoop of protein powder added to a soft food like refried Beans will get you approximately 25g protein and another 110 calories, as well as the protein and calories already in the beans. Using powder to supplement was the only way I could get everything I needed for months, and I still have it every morning in my coffee, even though I'm getting most of my requirements met through foods. Just something to consider...you won't lose weight reliably with the number of calories you're eating. Yes, I am still drinking the Premier Protein Shakes. I have 3 regular meals with either yogurt, cottage cheese or eggs for Breakfast. Then usually chicken for lunch and dinner, although I recently made the ricotta bake and have been eating some of it too. For my morning, afternoon and night-time Snacks, I drink the protein shakes. I am getting well over 70 grams of protein a day. Thank you for the suggestion to add some protein powder to my food. I have 2 containers of unjury protein powder, and I used it quite a bit during the full liquid and pureed stages. It is a great idea to add it to some of the foods and I can add it to some of my drinks too, and I haven't been doing that. That will help me bulk up on the calories a bit.

    Looking for Support!

Anyone have issues with dumping after sleeve ? I think it might be sugar in Gatorade or sugar in yogurt Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G750A using the BariatricPal App
  5. Today I start pureed foods. Well, my doctor said I could start anytime after today if I feel I can tolerate it. I have noticed there is a very fine line between "that is enough", and the very next bite which is "that was one bite too much and now I'm miserable." I'm eating *very* slowly. (30 min for a greek yogurt) so I have time to see how each bite feels in my stomach for a minute or two before taking another. But if I bite too many? Oh the misery! LOL I spend the next 3 hours burping or wanting to vomit. (thankfully have not vomited since surgery, but there have been times it would have felt better to do so!) How do you know where that line is? Is it just a learning curve with our newly altered anatomy?

Congrats on the Greek yogurt milestone. Before surgery I enjoyed the Dannon zero strawberry and I've had one in my fridge calling my name since surgery lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    December bypass buddies

I tried Greek yogurt for the first time this morning since it is listed on my full liquid list. I was so worried about how it would settle that it took me over an hour to eat it but oh my god it was sooo goood! And I didn't have a single stomach cramp like I do with liquids. Of course now I'm behind on my liquids since I spent over an hour working on my yogurt. I'm glad to be able to add something else that I can eat! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@Miss Impala why you are adding Protein powder to the Oikos Greek Yogurt?? It has 22g of protein by itself. How many grams of protein do you need daily?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Puréed food

Hello I actually didn't have to puree my chicken when I was on the pureed stage. You should be able to just mash canned chicken or tuna REALLY well and mix some non fat or low fat mayo with it. I did that a lot on the pureed stage. I also did nonfat refried Beans with a little bit of light sour cream.... added my unjury unflavored Protein powder to the refried beans and it was good. Greek plain, nonfat yogurt (added Stevia to sweeten it), cottage cheese, wet scrambled eggs (I used Egg Beaters). If you want extra protein, you can mix a good unflavored Protein Powder in the cottage cheese, yogurt, beans, etc. And of course I did my Premier Protein shakes while on the pureed stage.
  10. How much tuna, salmon, etc. are you eating? My guealss is that you might be trying to eat too much. You mention another type of food (yogurt + egg) that would be about 3 ounces. If you are trying to eat 3 ounces of fish, or even 2 ounces at this point, it is no wonder you are struggling. I couldn't eat that much until at least 9 months post-op. So, if you haven't yet, maybe try just one ounce of tuna and see how that goes. I had good results with shrimp and scallops (or, rather, scallop -- just one was plenty for a meal!) early on. Have you tried anything like that? Or maybe some other light fish such as sea bass, halibut, or john dory? I know a lot of people recommend tilapia, but I personally dislike it, I think it is mushy and icky tasting, plus I've seen how it is farmed and it is revolting! So I can't personally recommend it, though I know a lot of people swear by it. Good luck!
  11. **Disclaimer ** Tomorrow I am going to reach out to the dietician. I'm 6 weeks (almost 7) post-op and I can't eat much. Tuna sits like a ball and won't move much even following the chew lots, eat slowly, make sure it's not dry routine. Salmon makes me nauseous. I'm a pescetarian so my options for Protein are limited. I've tried Beans but they're high in sodium and carbs. I've tried a little tofu. It does OK but isn't much protein. Lately just about every meal has been 1 egg mixed with 2 oz fat-free greek yogurt with some dill relish and it's not boring yet. (This has all been approved per plan) I mean -- I know it gets better. Guess I'll just keep trying some different things. It's really hard to find a balance with high protein AND low carb AND low calories. And weirdly enough, Water fills me up quicker than anything and then makes me nauseous. My hair is going through a renaissance and I don't want to lose it. I'd like to get myself on the right track so I don't get low in Vitamins and nutrients.

    On the road lunch ideas

Tuna pouches are an easy solution. How about a boiled egg? Rotisserie chicken is good cold. I assume you are carrying a mini cooler since you take cheese and yogurt. I would still do a Premier shake during the workday so you know you are getting adequate Vitamins, nutrients and Protein. My Dr. actually requires a shake from here-on-out.
  13. I laid in Jello, pudding, yogurt, popsicles, and bought several tubs of Protein powder that I'd taste tested prior to surgery. And got a tub of unflavored protein powder. After surgery, I couldn't stand most of the protein powders and ended up liking the Premier Protein that I'd disliked prior to surgery. Go figure. I also found that the Syntrax nectar (roadside lemonade) that I liked prior I didn't really like post, until I froze it into ice pops. As ice pops, however they were AWESOME the first couple of weeks to supplement both fluids and protein which were so hard to keep up with. (Found ziploc style ice pop bags on Amazon). I also found post-op that I got REALLY sick and tired of sweet stuff. The Unjury protein chicken soup was good, but it was just as easy to make bouillon and mix some unflavored protein powder with warm Water and mix it into the bouillon and it was more flavorful. That got me through to the pureed phase.
  14. I am going on my 6th week post op. I can eat anything except raw veggies at this time. I am on the road all day seeing patients. So I bring cottage cheese, yogurt, and bring GENEPRO Protein to add to this. I can't tolerate shakes anymore. I don't know what to bring to eat!! I don't want to keep eating dairy and cheese all the time. I also don't want lunch meats as I know they are highly processed. I don't have access to a microwave. Any ideas what to take for lunches or small meals for the day? Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. Its been a while since I posted. So I work in hospitality, surrounded by food, about 1 year post op, down about 60 pounds pretty effortlessly and not eating strictly, def less food by a LARGE margin, but the weight is drip drip dripping off. I was never really comfortable size to exercise and I am kind of in that zone now where exercise would be something that I want to consider more of. I was 'lucky' to have work insurance that covered a large portion of my sleeve. Still do daily bariatric Vitamins, fitbit tracking, myfitness pal app for Protein tracking. I normally get about 9K steps a day. So to my story. I was part of this project at work (about 8 people), and whenever you have projects at a hotel in a meeting room there is damn near always a buffet of 10x the normal about of food to eat (and 100x what we can eat). There are some fresh fruit options, oatmeal, and 50 things I can't eat. I found one of the hardest things to eat is any bread (wheat or otherwise as it instantly fills me). They actually had wheat creasants out and I can eat a little of that, they are not 'puffy' breads (muhahahaha...my splurge of the day right?). Wheat creasat in hand, fruit, and a yogurt I a heading to my seat 15min till project kick off. In strolls a mouthy HR analyst to mooch off buffet and looks at me and says "I thought you couldn't eat bread because of that thing you did?"....in front of about 6-8 coworkers. :o :o     !!! Mind you, up until this point I have told EXACTLY two people at work...my very supportive boss who I know will not talk and was genuinely concerned when I needed a surgery and kept passively asking what he could do, and the manager under me that I trust (in case I croaked...lol). It never dawned on me that this number also included ALL OF HR....as they have to see and process all of my paperwork I assume. So mind racing, composure kept, I say "yeah this will be ok thanks for the concern", and turned to my phone...where I hammer out an email to her that basically says....please shush as I a not 'out'...(God never thought I would say that). She sends a panic reply email apologizing, etc, etc..I look great btw, etc, etc..She has a cousin who did it too or some bullshit....but DAMMIT...now I am a little paranoid AND my cheat bread thrill was RUINED. Anyone have the same or similar thing happen at work? I am a Director department head, she is an HR Analyst with a few other Analyst and an HR Director. I am 'out' to my family and friends but not at work.
  16. Pretty much - I can have up to 4 Protein shakes a day, some days I only have the appetite for 3. Also I can have low-sodium broth which I can't eat because it's absolutely disgusting. I have a few sugar-free ice pops a day, and one "protein pudding" which is a sugar-free Jello pudding mixed with Protein powder which is the highlight of my day The pudding is the most solid food I can eat. I'm allowed to have some type of yogurt but I haven't bothered with it. Intellectually I know I can get through it but the cravings are getting to me. All I can think of is chicken parm with angel hair pasta!

    Eating is so hard!

I feel the best when I just do stuff! I went to church and the grocery today, 4 days post op! Now...I was tired when I got home and took a 2 hour nap! I think it is just because I can't eat much. I might get 2oz at a time in! Plus...I used to like yogurt and pudding...yeah...not now!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. All I had for 2 weeks is protein drinks/shakes and vitamin water zero or water. I used to love yogurt and applesauce but it kept getting stuck in my throat and I just dipped the spoon not scooped. So I haven't touched it since. I eventually went to tomato soup. But that is it. Everything else I brought including the yogurt, applesauce, and jello I threw away or gave it away.
  19. You can do it, and I know people do, but you may find that you have to work harder and longer than people who eat animal-based protein to lose the same amount of weight. To get the protein you need in, you'll have to eat more calories and carbs than someone eating meat, yogurt, eggs, etc. Fruit and vegetables are usually tolerated, but especially early on, the ones that are tolerated best tend to be high calorie, high carb, low protein, low fiber, like applesauce and mashed potatoes. That's only for a limited time though and you should be able to move on to better food choices pretty quickly. In your shoes, I would probably focus heavily early on on things like beans, lentils, and soy. Good luck!

I can't tolerate many of the powders but I do like the syntax nectar peach fuzzy navel flavor. I put in in my ninja with Water and ice or with milk and a few spoons of yogurt for more of a Creamsicle/orange Julius taste. I also can handle the premier Proteins. I like the vanilla since it seems to have less after taste and get them delivered through Amazon subscribe and save program for 15% off. If I'm in the mood for chocolate, I just do the carnation light start instant Breakfast in the blue box. Mix it in ninja with a few ice cubes and a dash of sugar free caramel syrup. 21. For the full liquid phase, which I did for 2 weeks after my sleeve: Fat free Greek plain yogurt (sweeten with Stevia-it's good) sugar free Jello Sugar free chocolate pudding Organic chicken broth (added my unjury Protein powder to it-yum) Cream of chicken or cream of celery (my favorite) Soup (again, added the Protein Powder to it) That was about all I felt like eating. Mostly did the yogurt, Protein shakes and cream of celery soup. Did not feel like having much at all, and my appetite is just now starting to increase at week 5 post op.

  24. 6 days out and I am still struggling with getting in liquids. I haven't had much of anything substantial since before my surgery on Monday, so I managed to eat 1 yogurt today and 1 sugar free Popsicle, and I have been having constant ice chips today as well as a bit of water and half a protein shake. I am hoping it continues to get better each day :(
