So it has been forever since I have been on here, and its very much my own fault, but I've also been very embarassed to post. I have barely lost anything and still fighting with the dreded 4 lbs. And I see people are having tummy tucks already, It's so discouraging (being honest here) I started excercising more, I even bought some free weights and the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, and that actually shifted 2 lbs. I've had a couple of NSV's a major one being returning 2 pairs of pants because they were huge on me, and buying tops in a size medium (which are big on me). I go throught this inches vs lbs thing alot and it seems to happen more often then not. I'm just trying to figure out what it is I'm doing wrong. I was off to a great start and it has come to a screeching hault. In other good news, I NY hospital for Joint disease finally accepts my insurance, so I'm going to see a Hip specialist on friday (8/20) and maybe they can give me more insight on ways to be comfortably active, or maybe even just fix my hip once and for all. I hope everyone is doing fantastic and keep up the awesome work!!!

May Sleevers! 3+ months out....How is everyone doing?
MzB posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi May Sleevers I thought by now everyone sleeved in May would probably have settled into a bit more of a routine or at least gotten past some of the initial surgery questions. I imagine some of us have some great NSV's as well as some challenges. Soo.....I thought I would send up a general question to get a discussion started. I would love to hear how everyone else is doing. I am going to post my progress/thoughts below. -
I love this NSV and remember when I too dired all my clothes for the first time with no fear of them shrinking! Yeah us!

Since the scale isn't movin'....here's a NSV!
BetsyB replied to bostonmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LOVE the NSVs! scale victories can become less dramatic with time, so I really rely on NSVs these days. Running for 30 minutes is AWESOME--that is a huge accomplishment! -
This is a wonderful NSV! Keep Rockin that Sleeve!

4 months ago I used fear putting my clothes into a hot dryer due to fears of my jeans, sweaters and shirts shrinking and getting too small. Flash forward and now I put everything into the dryer without any reservations and sometimes I actually try to shrink my stuff! It's a small NSV , but a victory none the less for me. From a size 2xl to L in 3 1/2 months feels surreal to me still.

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits - NSV

Oh I had a great NSV this past weekend. I was thinking about it this morning. While in Memphis we decided to ride a horse and carriage from Beale Street back to our hotel. When we went to board he looked at me and my SIL and said okay the smaller people need to get in first and sit on the outside. Me? Smaller? Now SIL is thin...but I looked around me and I was the second smallest of six other adults. Six months ago I would have been the second largest. -

I had an NSV today - I got into a pair of pants I haven't worn in at least six years! They're still 24s, but still, they haven't fit since school. Also - they, along with a navy pair and a kakhi pair I have, are the smallest 24s I have ever known of. All my other 24s are loose, but these three pair range from just being comfortable to skin tight. We need truth in sizing legislation! -

Allykat, What a great NSV!!! actually NSV's. I didn't mail the clothes as I'd hoped. I cleaned out my closet too this weekend. I ended up with more clothes to send - thought I'd ship everything at the same time. Sizes are from 16-18 on most everything. I ordered a box from the post office - I should have it today. I'll pack it up tonight and ship it tomorrow. Sorry for the delay! -
After looking in the mirror today and seeing how baggy my size 20 jeans were getting, I decided to try my 18s and THEY FIT! They're a little tight around the tummy area but who cares?! A couple of weeks ago I couldn't even get them to button. It's nice to see my hard work pay off even though the scale didn't move this week!

Why Am I The Only One Posting NSVs??? I know ya'll have got to have some great things going on...I feel so isolated and alone... I'll post another - hehehehe! My mom has been smaller than me for YEARS. Since I graduated from college and the pounds started packing on. She had on a pair of pants this weekend that were baggy on her. She wore them Saturday and mentioned she'd give them to me. I told her when I get small enough I'll wear them. She told me I was and to try them on - she'd move the button over a little if I needed it. I went into the bedroom and held them up and said to myself, "There's no way in hell my butt is small enough to fit into these". I put in one leg and then the other pulled up and thought not bad. I was prepared to lay down - but I didn't have to. They buttoned and zipped - I didn't even have to suck and hold my breath. I danced the jig right there. I know I looked like an idiot! I ran into the living room and had to show everyone they fit. Mom asked if she needed to move the button - I said NO, they fit. I took them off an put on my PJ's. I casually looked at the tag in the back - wondering 16/18? Nope - 14!!! A Size 14!!! I couldn't believe it. -
Biggest Nsv Of Alllllll!

Can't top that NSV and I wouldn't ever want to. Congrats - I hope you celebrate that one !!! -
CONGRATS!!! crossing the legs is a great NSV! I hadn't been able to comfortably cross my legs in years and a few weeks after surgery I was sitting at home talking to my wife and she just stopped talking and stared at me. I asked her what happened and she pointed at my legs. I had casually crossed them while we spoke without noticing. It was wonderful!!! A similar one is bending over to pick something up without any problem. These type of NSVs are really powerful and make you feel like you are taking your life back. Keep on enjoying them!

@@kranky813 Yay!!! Those are all incredible, fabulous NSV!!! Isn't it the best feeling in the world!! Except maybe the boney-butt-itis. I have that too!

Howdy! I just wanted to post a NSV that I had over the weekend... I went to a friend-of-a-friend's birthday party on Saturday. At this party, the only chairs available were those flimsy plastic resin kind. Normally, I avoid those kind of chairs like the plague. They give me horrid visions of collapsing in a heap in front of a group of strangers. Well, I decided to take the plunge and perched myself precariously on a chair. Not only did I NOT go crashing to the ground in an ingloriously heap, I was able to sit in that chair with my legs crossed!

April Bandster Bunnies - where are you?
AlottaBS replied to Froggie D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all ! I was banded 4/20/10 and have lost 40 lbs since /2/10. NSV is my A1C for my diabetes went from 7.3 in Feb down to 5.9 which is in the normal range. My meds went from 2000 mg to 500 mg and expect to be off diabetes meds in a few months. Blood pressure was even in the low range. I'm off the other 3 meds I was on. I'm excited. Sounds like we're all progressing at our own pace. Keep up the good work everyone. -

NSV is Non scale Victory. Congratulations! I love clothes stories! -
I've always loved a relaxing bath with a good book and can soak for ages... However, I did that less and less over the years as the tub had to hold more of me and less water! As I sat in the bath today, I noticed I don't fill the width of the tub! By the time I reach goal weight, there will be room for two

Amazing Drop in Blood Pressure
mkmelissag replied to adagray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, this has been the greatest NSV! Before surgery, I was on 4 different BP meds, at really high dosages. I've been working with my cardiologist to wean off of them. As of today, 2.5 months after surgery and 40 lbs down from my highest (consultation) weight, I completely dropped one med (norvasc). Dosage for Metoprolol down to 50mg from 150mg. Diovan is down to 80mg from 360mg, hoping to lose that one at my next check in. Diazide unchanged. This is amazing to me since I still have over 150 lbs to lose! I most likely will never be completely free of meds due to non-obesity related heart issues, but I am ecstatic over how even a relatively small amount of weightloss has caused such amazing improvement! Oh yeah, my swollen ankles are gone too! I have had a couple of low readings, i.e. 100/58. I'm averaging 110s/65-75, and I have noticed that I get dizzy easier when getting up too fast or bending over. Re cuffs: I have a wrist cuff and my doc is OK with it. I bring it in with me to test it against theirs every so often, and its never more than a couple points off. -

Wow Leslie, I bet that felt GREAT!! I am no longer the biggest person in our social circle of friends either, even though I do not see it that way still. I have this horrible habit of asking my husband when we see overweight people if I am bigger than they are because I have no real perception of my size. I look in the mirror and see HUGE but I have no real perception of my actual size. Now that I am getting smaller I am no longer the biggest person anymore. I am still very much overweight but at one time I was the *largest* and its a nice NSV in itself to be smaller than someone, lol. Also today I was looking in the mirror and I actually noticed that my shoulders are smaller framed than before- I used to look in the mirror and see a linebacker- now I definately noticed a difference this morning. -
Is this realistic after rny?
James Marusek replied to Sajijoma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a RNY 28 months ago. I lost a lot of weight very quickly. At 6 or 7 months I leveled off. At the end of the Weight Loss phase, I was totally unable to wear any of my clothes. I gave them all away. My wife is a seamstress and it was not worth the effort to tailor them. On the other hand, I am a great shopper. I generally buy clothes at a 70-80% discount and I love to shop. This gave me the opportunity to buy the latest fashions for a completely new wardrobe. It was fun. I could shop at normal department stores again. On the journey down you will need only one or two sets of clothes. I would buy a pair of pants that I could barely fit into (provided I took a deep breath) then a week later it would fit like a glove. It was a great incentive (a NSV - non scale victory). -
Clarityseeker. Glad to hear from you and know you're doing well. Nice NSV. I was excited to buy some cute lacy panties yesterday! I need some bras to match but I'm not sure of my size anymore. I have to go to Victoria's Secret. They'll measure you. I know I'm not a 42 DD any more as I have them on the tightest hook and they keep riding up. Yay!!!
