Can't believe it has been 6 months since I was sleeved I am now down a total of 86 lbs since I began the 2 week liquid diet so 74 lbs since the day of surgery. I am down for a grand total of 81 3/4 inches! Talk about a LOT of inches lost off this body! I am now 4.8 lbs from goal but really I am fine with my weight. Though according to the BMI scale I am still overweight, I so happen to think that scale is stupid ha! I am not pushing to lose that last bit but not preventing it either, my weight is still coming off pretty nicely. Last week alone I had a huge drop and lost 4.2 lbs, this week I lost 1 lb. So my sleeve is absolutely still working. I have had so many NSVs lately from people guessing my weight to be 115-125 lbs, which is beyond me since I am at 154 lol, I was always good at hiding my weight though at the lower weights so I guess that is a plus I had someone FINALLY tell me my ID card looked nothing like me YAY! She remembered me fat and kept looking at me like something was wrong, finally she said I must have lost a ton of weight and even called over one of the other receptionists to come look at me lol. I finally hit my size goal too, well at least at Old Navy, I have yet to try elsewhere but I can comfortably wear a size 8 now and generally medium shirts, occasionally a small or large, depending on the brand. Dresses are medium to large now too. I am still dealing with some complications, I still have pain at the top of my sleeve, especially in the morning. Still taking 2 nexiums and 1 zantac a day to try to control the pain from the heartburn I now have. Lately I have been seriously restricted, I am sure it is from stress, it's a struggle to drink Water, let alone food and I am full within 2-3 bites of anything right now but this shall pass hopefully soon. I will be seeing a surgeon today so not sure if he will want to scope me again or just let it go and see if it goes away. I suspect my labs are off too, specifically my Iron given how I am feeling. I will be seeing a plastic surgeon too, I was told I needed a panniculectomy (sp?) long before I considered weight loss surgery and it is absolutely needed still, my poor stomach is destroyed and I still carry a large amount of fat there. I am also looking into a breast augmentation too, they are long gone LOL! All in all I am still very pleased with my sleeve and glad I went through with it Don't mind the crummy pics, I had to use my webcam.

Need Hope? A Place for Reflection and Inspiration!
Boo replied to Boo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LAPBANDIT Great idea, BOO! What is your "Bandiversary" goal? To get into Onderland! 21 pounds to go til Onderland...wish me luck! What have you learned this past year? food should remain a source of fuel, not a source of entertainment. Could you share your most rewarding NSV (non-scale victory)? Shopping for clothes in the regular section...I have NEVER done this, honestly. Even as a kid I had to wear "Pretty Plus" size from Sears! What is your biggest challenge? Social eating-DEFINATELY! I still haven't mastered this yet. I still get carried away when I'm at parties/social functions. What tips would you pass on to the April 2007 newbies? Eat, just eat good, healthy foods. What is your greatest fear? Never affording the plastic surgery I need to get rid of this excess skin. What goals do you have for the future? To hit my goal weight, of course! How has your life changed? In every possible way. Mainly, I've learned to take care of myself and set priorities to make my health a no-compromise concept! Has living with the band met up to your expectations? Yes and no. I'm proud of my success but this idea of "restriction" still hasn't set in and I have never experienced it for any extended period of time. If you could talk to yourself a year ago, what would you say? I'd say "You're doing the right thing...stick with the band and not the bypass." And, I'd throw in..."You need to excerise even more because it'll pay off!" Originally it was to lose 100lbs in my first year, but that isn't gonna happen. Now my goal is to get as close to that as I can! What have you learned this past year? I have learned that without the support of fellow bandsters this is a difficult road. Lifting up and encouraging others is what makes us all stronger together. Could you share your most rewarding NSV (non-scale victory)? Most rewarding is that my back and knees are in so much less pain, in fact most days I don't even notice them anymore. When I started I couldn't push a vacuum without crumbling to the floor in tears from pain. What is your biggest challenge? My biggest challenge has been to try to learn to deal with life's ups and downs without turning to food. I never could have known how hard that would be. What tips would you pass on to the April 2007 newbies? 1 - Stick together and take care of each other. 2 - Get fills when you need them and when in doubt ask your fill professional their opinion on whether or not you need one! 3 - Participate in a support group with other banded people like this one! What is your greatest fear? That I won't know who I am without my padding What goals do you have for the future? To live, to run, to laugh How has your life changed? I am healthier, I can now see me reaching my goal. I always could picture myself thin but not how I got there, now I can see the way to get there. Has living with the band met up to your expectations? Yes and no. I really thought that because I started at a higher BMI that I would lose faster in the beginning. On the other hand, I am totally moving steadily towards my goal weight now that I have good restriction and the band is now helping me, finally. If you could talk to yourself a year ago, what would you say? Don't feel like other peoples numbers affect you personally. You are an individual and your adjustments are individual to you! You are not like anyboy else, no one is. Some people lose 10lbs in there first year and others lose 150lbs, the good news is that it's ok to be an individual, we all are losing (barring any medical conditions that prevent it) and that is what matters. We can all reach our goal if we are willing to put forth the effort to work with our band and not around it. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->__________________ ~ Molly ~ Banded 4/11/2006 - VG 10cc 6/5/2006 - 4.5cc's 6/19/2006 - 6.5cc's 7/17/2006 - 7.5cc's 8/28/2006 - 8.5cc's 2/13/2007 - 9.5cc's <!-- / sig --> <!-- controls --> <!-- / controls --> <!-- message, attachments, sig --></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- post 419443 popup menu --><TABLE cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=4 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=thead>waterlily1072</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vbmenu_option>View Public Profile</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vbmenu_option>Send a private message to waterlily1072</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vbmenu_option>Find all posts by waterlily1072</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vbmenu_option>Add waterlily1072 to Your Buddy List</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> <!-- / post 419443 popup menu --> <!-- / close content container --><!-- / post #419443 --> <!-- / close content container --><!-- / post #419443 --><!-- post #420165 --><!-- open content container --> <!-- this is not the last post shown on the page --><!-- post #420165 --><!-- open content container --> <!-- this is not the last post shown on the page --><TABLE class=tborder id=post420165 cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=6 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=thead> # 5 <!-- [sTART HACK='vB Pager' AUTHOR='UAEWEB.COM' VERSION='3.0.0' CHANGEID= 6 ] --><!-- [END HACK='vB Pager' AUTHOR='UAEWEB.COM' VERSION='3.0.0' CHANGEID= 6 ] --> <!-- status icon and date --> 03-19-2007, 04:14 PM <!-- / status icon and date --> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=alt2 style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px"><!-- user info --><TABLE cellSpacing=6 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2></TD><TD noWrap>Boo <SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_420165", true); </SCRIPT> Who ya gonna call? </TD><TD width="100%"> </TD><TD vAlign=top noWrap>Join Date: Feb 2006 Posts: 413 </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- / user info --></TD></TR><TR><TD class=alt1 id=td_post_420165><!-- message, attachments, sig --><!-- message -->I agree! I would love to be at my goal weight of 135. It is looming so close. What have you learned this past year? That I can succeed at weight loss...all I needed was some help. Could you share your most rewarding NSV (non-scale victory)? There are so many. I have found the self confidence that I thought I lost, no more cholesterol medication, the restless leg syndrome is gone, bye bye sleep apnea, hugs from my son because he can get his arms around me, shopping in normal sized stores, enjoying shopping because I can find things that fit, mowing the yard without getting winded in the first five minutes.....the list goes on and on and on. What is your biggest challenge? Trying to keep eating the "bandster" way. What tips would you pass on to the April 2007 newbies? Make good food choices, but don't deprive yourself of a small treat once in while (this is for your sanity). Drink lots of Water (dehydration is a bad thing.....kidney stones are not your friend). Don't be afraid to ask questions. The best people to get banded information from is from another bandster. What is your greatest fear? Slipping up, eating too much, and falling into the same bad habits that got me to where I was in the first place. What goals do you have for the future? My biggest short term goal is to participate in the Danskin triathlon in Seattle in August of this year. How has your life changed? I am definately more active and outgoing. Has living with the band met up to your expectations? I didn't really have major expectations to begin with. I read so much about only losing a portion of the weight will be lost. But I truly believe the weight you lose will depend on you. I am so happy I did this and I would do it again in a second. If you could talk to yourself a year ago, what would you say? To not be so afraid about doing something for myself. Be a hero to yourself as this will be a life changing experience. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->__________________ Irish Girl Banded April 28, 2006 (BMI of 39 - morbidly obese) 1st fill 6/8/06 - 2.25cc 2nd fill 07/11/06 - 3.25cc 3rd fill 8/15/06 - 3.50cc (BMI of 30 - overweight) 4th fill 9/26/06 - 4.25cc No fill - 11/9/06 (BMI of 28) No fill - 12/7/06 (BMI of 25.9 - Almost Normal) No fill - 1/8/07 (BMI of 25.8 - Almost Normal) 5th fill - 3/6/07 - 4.45cc (BMI of 25.5 - Still Almost Normal) <!-- / sig --> <!-- controls --> <!-- / controls --> <!-- message, attachments, sig --></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- post 420437 popup menu --><TABLE cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=4 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=thead>Irish Girl</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vbmenu_option>View Public Profile</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vbmenu_option>Send a private message to Irish Girl</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vbmenu_option>Find all posts by Irish Girl</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vbmenu_option>Add Irish Girl to Your Buddy List</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> <!-- / post 420437 popup menu --> <!-- / close content container --><!-- / post #420437 --> <!-- / close content container --><!-- / post #420437 --><!-- post #420489 --><!-- open content container --> <!-- this is not the last post shown on the page --><!-- post #420489 --><!-- open content container --> <!-- this is not the last post shown on the page --><TABLE class=tborder id=post420489 cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=6 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=thead> # 7 <!-- [sTART HACK='vB Pager' AUTHOR='UAEWEB.COM' VERSION='3.0.0' CHANGEID= 6 ] --><!-- [END HACK='vB Pager' AUTHOR='UAEWEB.COM' VERSION='3.0.0' CHANGEID= 6 ] --> <!-- status icon and date --> 03-19-2007, 11:14 PM <!-- / status icon and date --> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=alt2 style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px"><!-- user info --><TABLE cellSpacing=6 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2></TD><TD noWrap>Boo <SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_420489", true); </SCRIPT> Who ya gonna call? </TD><TD width="100%"> </TD><TD vAlign=top noWrap>Join Date: Feb 2006 Posts: 413 </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- / user info --></TD></TR><TR><TD class=alt1 id=td_post_420489><!-- message, attachments, sig --><!-- message -->Wow! Thank you, Boo! What is your "Bandiversary" goal? To be recovered from my tummy tuck and breast lift (March 28th) enough to schedule my flight home (to actually be home is a stretch). What have you learned this past year? I've learned that it's better to head off a binge than to fight it. It's like turning a boat. You might not be able to turn on a dime, but if you plan, you can still get the boat turned. Could you share your most rewarding NSV (non-scale victory)? Flying without a seatbelt extender. Walking anywhere in the City just because and not worrying about breaking out in a sweat even in the cold. What is your biggest challenge? Learning how to not act like an adolescent in my new body. What tips would you pass on to the April 2007 newbies? Measure your food, at least some of the time. It keeps you accountable. Also, if you're not losing as quickly as you'd like, consider counting calories at least for a few days. It'll let you see where you can make adjustments to meet your goals. What is your greatest fear? Regaining the weight. I know it's not likely, but I still fear it. What goals do you have for the future? To figure out what goal weight is and reach it. To run a 10K. To run an average mile in under 10 minutes. How has your life changed? Oh my gosh, what a question! I fit into life again. I don't worry about finding the "right" seat on the bus or whether a folding chair will break under my weight. I can shop anywhere. I care about my appearance. People treat me with more respect, even just walking down the street -- it shouldn't be that way but it is. I got a new job making triple salary. Triple! Men hit on me. I'm excited about tomorrow. Has living with the band met up to your expectations? It's far exceeded my expectations. I expected to be about 250 or 275 now. Instead, I'm in the 190s. All I expected from the band was to get back to Twoterville. Actual day-to-day life, the band exceeds my expectations as well. I thought I'd have way more limitations on the types of food I'd be able to eat. If you could talk to yourself a year ago, what would you say? I'd say be kind to yourself. You're a pretty cool person and even though you don't like yourself a lot right now, you've got the potential to love yourself. I'd also say, self, since you've got this ability to talk to yourself a year ago, try to see if you can talk to yourself 5 years ago and get a band then. Don't waste time trying to find another option. You're going to exhaust them all and still wind up 350+ and banded. Save yourself the emotional and physical trauma. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->__________________ ________________ Julie-NYC banded 4/10/06, NYU, Dr. Fielding April Bandits' March Challenge: Seventeen 40 minute sessions completed. <!-- / sig --> <!-- controls --> <!-- / controls --> <!-- message, attachments, sig --></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- post 421123 popup menu --> <!-- / post 421123 popup menu --> <!-- / close content container --><!-- / post #421123 --> <!-- / close content container --><!-- / post #421123 --><!-- post #421381 --><!-- open content container --> <!-- this is not the last post shown on the page --><!-- post #421381 --><!-- open content container --> <!-- this is not the last post shown on the page --><TABLE class=tborder id=post421381 cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=6 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=thead> # 10 <!-- [sTART HACK='vB Pager' AUTHOR='UAEWEB.COM' VERSION='3.0.0' CHANGEID= 6 ] --><!-- [END HACK='vB Pager' AUTHOR='UAEWEB.COM' VERSION='3.0.0' CHANGEID= 6 ] --> <!-- status icon and date --> 03-20-2007, 07:20 PM <!-- / status icon and date --> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=alt2 style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px"><!-- user info --><TABLE cellSpacing=6 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2></TD><TD noWrap>TracyinKS <SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_421381", true); </SCRIPT> Ready! Hello All! Ok so today I spent all day at my daughters Winter guard competitions. I posted a picture on FB talking about how I was the "glam mom" for the team (hair & makeup). After posting this picture my inbox BLEW up! I guess a lot of people haven't seen me since I've lost the weight. I don't normally post full body pictures. I got called "tiny" and "amazing". TINY! I had to go back and look at the picture again. It's like I'm just now seeing my new self for the first time. I'm starting to see what everyone else sees. It's the weirdest feeling! I don't think I'm "tiny"' but compared to the 267 lbs I was last year I see what they are saying. I also noticed I need a butt! Lol that's the "oh my goodness" moment. Where did it go?! My tush literally hurt sitting in the bleachers all day. I kept having to switch from cheek to cheek. I started getting paranoid thinking people are going to think I have hemorrhoids the way I keep moving but no! It's the bones in my butt that don't have that fat cushioning! So I had a NSV and a painful realization all in one! Now what do I tell these people. One I was honest with because she's a rather big girl and I didn't want to feed her some lie and get her hopes up. The others I said thank you and avoided the question. I don't mind telling overweight people but I don't like telling my skinny friends. I'm not sure why that is but I just don't feel the need to elaborate with them. Anyway just thought I'd share. Share yours if you have one! I posted the picture below , not the greatest but a 6 year old took it sooooo... The other is my super proud guard mom picture living on coffee and sour rainbow straws. Can't be good all the time!

This is a great story! One of the best NSV's is being an inspiration to others.

well, the scales are dropping more slowly these days. It dawned on me last night that I think it is key now more than ever, that I look for and Celebrate NSV!! Here are some of the latest.... - My bra size is now 38D - I keep getting clothes out of the closet, put them on just to take them off and put them in the too big pile. - DH continues to notice me more and more. - sex is GREAT!! - Bought "sexy" panties. I have worn "granny Panties" for years. DH couldn't keep his hands off me. We have been together for 17 years. It's so fun to rekindle our love life - I feel attractive for the first time in many many years. - SHAVING MY LEGS IS SOOOOOO MUCH EASIER, and takes about half the time. We all have NSV and when those scales seem to get stuck look for your NSV!!!! I can see so many changes that I have let the scales overshadow. WE ARE DOING THIS!!!!!!

My NSV's are: I am finally wearing a smaller size in clothes. My face is thinning out. I am starting to enjoy looking at myself in the mirror again. When I look down I can actually see my feet again. ( I need a pedicure!) My 42DDD are now a 40DD (Don't want to lose to much of these) Every time I see people I know they all comment on how "skinny" I am getting (LOVE IT) I am starting to feel like a WOMAN again. I can't wait for more!

Way to go Georgia!!! What a wonderful NSV!!
-
NSV for me 1. Being able to put on socks standing up 2. Putting on socks and not almost passing out because of no air 3. No longer use a CPAP machine 4. No longer take diabetes medicine 5. gone from 56 pants to 38 6. Gone from 3X to large 7. No longer use an extension seat belt on an air plane 8. on my last airplane trip actually had to tighten the seatbelt from the previous passenger. 9. I can walk further then my grand children

My wife and I both had the lap band surgery on the same day September 12, 2007. Having both of us on the lap band has been very helpful. I have gone from a 56 waist to a 38. But the best NSV is being able to keep up with the grandkids.

ya'll have some GREAT NSV's.!!!!. i enjoy these as much as seeing the scale move (well close) latest NSV for me was over the wkend @ the gym. i watched my hubby walk up to a woman on the elliptical - thinking she was Me. thankfully he didn't swat her a$$ w/his towel or pinch her butt - but he swore that was me; when he looked over he didn't recognize my upper body....he had to make note that my booty was the same, just didn't realize how i small i have gotten up top...LOL means i still have work on the bottom. tiny scale victory - had an unfill last wk & was under my dr's goal...hee hee - still not where i need to be since i'm only 5'1 on good posture days:)
-
whooooo hooooo!!!! You guys have some wonderful NSV's.
-
LOL luluc! You are funny! Congrats on the NSV! I bet it feels wonderful to be called tiny!
-
Well, I've only lost 43 pounds, but my NSVs are: 1. My stomach no longer protroudes past my boobs! 2. I have a waist! 3. I have gone from size 26 clothes to size 22 and some size 18/20s! 4. My husband tries to *follow* me EVERY NIGHT! 5. *I* feel sexy! 6. I'm excited about where I might be this summer!!!!!!!

NSV: I cancelled my blind date tonight. Why is this an NSV? Because the only time he texted me was on Weds to say he was having a really busy rough time at work and would get back to me. And never did. Tonight we had tentative plans with NO time or location specified (only that we should have dinner Friday and we will plan it later in the week) and I've been waiting quietly for him to plan or let me know. Last night was his deadline. I don't accept same day dates. I'm not desperate nor weak... anymore. Once upon a time I would have taken any excuse from someone to cancel, disappear, or do a last minute date with me. Something has triggered in me and I'm not accepting anymore dating b.s. The bar has been set. If he wants to see me, he can take me to a dinner date when he calls and plans ahead. I kept my babysitter, texted my friend and her husband and we are going out to dinner instead. When (or even IF) he finally calls to set something up, I'll just let him know that I've got a life. A great one. And he's going to have to step up his game if he wants my time. Plan ahead, book a time with me, and stay true to it, or I'm saying bu-bye. I'm kinda digging my new found confidence. ... oh yeah, and I dropped -3.5 lbs this week. I'm excited to go out with my friends and do a little twirl in my new dress and cowgirl boots. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! great NSV
-
My biggest nsv and one of the reasons that Pushed me over the edge with getting the surgery done was over the summer I was able to ride the rides at cedar point without even worrying if I would fit. Last year I could not buckle some of them and had to get off of one cause it wouldn't buckle. I am also able to walk in the store and buy clothes off the rack! I don't even have to try them on I know they'll fit! I am in a size 14 bottoms that are starting to get a little loose and medium top I did buy a 12 dress that fits perfectly. I'm able to run with my kids and it doesn't hurt me. I didn't have any comorbidities yet so surgery was really preventative for me. My knees and back feel so much better though.

I'm fairly sure most of y'all can relate so I thought I'd share this weird NSV. Today, we were running around the house, getting ready for my husband's orthodontic consult, we're also buying a house, and our home that we rent is on the market so the listing agent showed up unexpectedly without notice, just pissing me, and making my crazy, pregnant hormonal self all in a rage. Anyway, so in the craziness, I threw on some clothes, and forgot deodorant. You're thinking big deal, right? Well, the issue is we live in hot/muggy Florida. The thermometer in my truck said 90 degrees. I got in, started backing out of the driveway, and realized "Crap, no deodorant". My husband was like "great, stinky winky at the dentist". Best advantage to not being fat is I didn't sweat or get sweaty/icky in the underarm department ! ! ! Pre-op weight would have had me sweating profusely, and stinking to high heaven within 10 minutes. We were outside all afternoon, walking around, picking up pine cones in our yard, and not once did I sweat or get stinky ! ! !

What is NSV?

Banded on 4/23, my weight loss has been slow. I've lost 41 lbs which I'm totally satisfied with, but bc it has been a slow process I guess I haven't really noticed the changes in my body....until last night. We took the kids to the park & I was preoccupied with my little one, not realizing my oldest was photographing us. I got home & a friend of mine who I haven't seen in awhile text saying how great I looked in a picture my daughter posted on Instagram. So I logged in to check out this picture & was shocked to see myself. I then realized I had a similar picture of myself pre surgery at the same park. I compared the 2 & was in complete shock! What a wonderful NSV!!!
