I brought a pair of skinny jeans last week. Size 18. I don't ever remember buying that size before its been so long. When I held them up, I thought, well maybe next month I should be able to fit them. But I tried them on, and they came right up and buttoned. No sucking in. I wanted to cry. Literally. I ran and showed my husband. I'm trying on 16 this week just to see how they would feel. There are days I hate this band and days I'm in love with it. Today, I'm loving it like McDonald's.

Funny story I got pulled over and the cop asked.. well how much do you weigh? because clearly you don't weigh 280 lbs he handed me my license told me to have a new picture taken and let me off with a warning.. NSV for sure -
I am losing weight sort of like @@OutsideMatchInside - from the top down. I just posted two days ago about my helmet I wear for work fitting looser, especially around my cheeks. I just hope the loss continues, and rapidly. I would hate to end up looking like a pear. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/384197-i-guess-i-really-did-have-a-fat-head-nsv/

My best friend Karen is someone I've always regarded as just one of the most amazing looking people that I know. She literally looks like Lucy Lawless (Xena) and is the same height as me, but is slim and healthy, and graceful, and a health nut. I've always admired her. We are in a pirate singing group together. This last weekend at a performance, I had noticed that my costumes were all huge big gigantic and looked SILLY. I had one that didn't look so bad, and I was wearing it, but I had to wear two belts to get it to stay on right. She said to me in regards to the costume she was wearing. "Well, I'm getting tired of this bodice, and I think it would fit you. Do you want it?" You cannot believe how thrilled I was that she said that. I never thought I would live to see the day. I can't wait to try it on!!

Those are some great NSV. You are doing FABULOUS! I wish my weight would have came off that fast. There is nothing like a NSV to bring a smile to your face and to help you feel proud about the commitment you have made to your health.

NSV is Non Scale Victory. It is like a mini goal that isn't tied to what the scale says

NSV this morning. I took off my "big girl" panties and threw them away, along with several other pair. It was weird because I was thinking (for the last 20lbs) that I could still get some use out of them. But there comes a point when you just have to let go. Thankfully I had others in a smaller size that I haven't been able to wear in a while. Yay for goodbye to huge panties!! haha

Any May sleevers out there?
piercedqt78 replied to irishcailin68's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was May 8th last year. May sleevers are the BEST sleevers. Good luck to you all!! I'm always here if you have questions, or want advice. According to my doc, I ROCKED my sleeve. The time will fly by, and before you know it, you will be rocking skinny jeans, and posting NSV's. -
I'm 6 days away from surgery & scared as heck!
nearperfectmess replied to girl4god77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's crazy. I'm just at the chopped/small food stage now and couldn't think of eating a real taco. I did splurge and go to Chipotle to celebrate a little Cinco de Mayo but had meat, beans and guac. No rice, no lettuce, no sour cream or any of that. And I still have 3/4 of the bowl left. It was a NSV to me. But I made sure to be mindful. I couldn't imagine chowing down on a taco, especially right after surgery. -

It is amazing what just 30lbs can do...

There are many of the NSV (non scale victory) that make all the hard work worth it! It's an awesome feeling! Sometimes I just do a little jig for the sake of being happy! -
I have those moments where I don't lose (usually weeks) as well bigrick. In fact, I gained a pound this week - even though I ate well and exercised regularly. Like you, I'm not giving up and at this point, I don't let it bother me. Slow and steady is fine with me. I'm really starting to enjoy the NSV's at this point as well - I donated a large bag of clothes to my church that don't even come close to fitting anymore !!

Sounds like a good idea. I had no scale in my apt. That way I couldn't weigh even if I wanted to. Remember, you had a DS. It's a mighty surgery. It would be very hard for it not to work. Also, about 3 months out, I was going into the shower & caught a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror. All of a sudden, I noticed my waist was curving inward. I knew right then & there things were changing. It was the start. There are many NSV to be had!

6 weeks & 800 calories already
Dairymary replied to snapy17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are sabotaging yourself by reverting back to liquids and lowering your calories. You're putting your body into starvation mode and teaching it how to survive on less and less calories. This is unhealthy and certainly not conducive to weightloss and especially long term maintenance. Not sure what kind of expectations you had, but 9 pounds in one month is a good rate of loss. Plus you are right about where most people experience the infamous "three week stall". Do a search and you will find hundreds of posts on it. Totally normal and part of the process, as is gaining a few pounds along the way. You say you drink water till you're nauseous. How much are you drinking? It should be 1/2 your body weight in ounces. If you are having a hard time with water (I couldn't drink plain water for over 6 months), you can try herbal tea, sports drinks, water flavor drops, infused water, milk, or any other non carbonated, low cal beverage. How about protein? Every program is different, but 80+ g/day works for me. just stick with the program and stay off the scale for a month if you need to. Gauge your progress with NSVs and how your clothes fit. -
Haven't even had the surgery yet,but have NSV!
Crkrjax76 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I went to the surgeon, I have tried my hardest to stop drinking soda. I haven't had once since March 15. Yesterday we went out to eat and I ordered water. The waiter brought me a Pepsi. Ice cold Pepsi!!! He walked away before I could say I didn't order it! But he came back in just a minute and said Oh I'm sorry, you ordered water, I'll get that right to you. But he LEFT THE PEPSI ON THE TABLE!!! I just pushed it to the other side of the table and DIDN'T DRINK IT!! Even when I was "dieting", I would have at least taken a drink of it! That made me realize I believe I am on the right path this time!!!! -
Congrats Deb,that is the BEST nsv!!! If you don't have issue with gently used clothes... I go to a shop called Value Village here in Ottawa.I can get designer clothes for more than half price!! I love people telling me "Really Chantal, you really NEED to get some clothes that fit!"and it's because my clothes are too baggy!! I can pull down all my pants from before my weight loss without unzipping them..I LOVE IT!!! C

Hi Maysters, Well, TOM and I'm crying at the drop of a hat! I don't think I'll weigh myself this week. Too depressed. Thought I had NSV's last week but we had family pics this weekend, saw myself, and forgot all about them. I won't give up! Christy668, you are awsome! Keep it up and thanks for the smile you give us!

Just wanted to touch base on a NSV I had this weekend. I am a huge sports fan. One of the things my wife and i love to do is go to Dallas Stars hockey games. I have a jersey that I haven't been able to wear in several years. For kicks, I tried it on this weekend to see if it fit and it fits very nicely!. I actually teared up when I showed my wife because I feel like I am getting my life back. It was an awesome moment! On another note, I guess the gym is agreeing with me, I lost another 6 pounds this week. That in itself is motivation to keep going. Hope everyone has a great week.

Hi All, Here is my Challenge update: Start 276 / C 266 / G 255 (-10 so far, -2 this week) I am closing in on -50. Hopefully, I will not gain this weekend. I have been gaining 2-3 pounds every weekend for the last month or so. Brenda - Congratulations on the NSV and SV! I think the last time I owned a belt was maybe highschool. Kim - To answer your question about the Water from a few posts ago, I have moved up from 6 to 8 cups of water a day. I'm not a slow sipper throughout the day. I tend to get down 4 cups in the morning during aerobics, then another 4 cups in the afternoon between my snack and dinner, and, lately, I sometimes get in another 1-2 cups at night before bed. I havn't really noticed a difference in the weight loss with regard to how much water I drink. I will say that water is about the only thing I drink these days! I see we have the same goal on Funny's Christmas thread. I would really love to see 220 by then. I think that is a pretty realistic goal for us! Janey - How's it going? Hippo's Hope - How are you doing since your last fill? You havn't posted in a while and I've been wondering. Well, I'm off to water aerobics. Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!
