    I have a NSV!

I love heels - as long as I don't have to walk too far in them. They just make me feel sexier. Nice NSV - good for you.

    I have a NSV!

Jessie - birks for me, too - I live in them! Socks and birkenstock sandals in the winter - quite a fashion statement! Kathy - Great NSV! I can't wear heels for more than a couple of hours - and at that they're really LOW heels! I'll look forward to that one! With weight, my feet have gotten SOOOOO wide! I hope with weight loss that they aren't spread out so much. When I try to wear normal shoes it looks like Miss Piggy or ugly step sister feet!

    Another Nsv

Last night i was washing clothes when i got a call that my husband was taken to the emergency room. i looked around and all the clothes that fit half way decent was in the washing machine or dryer. There was a pair of jeans i figured would take a couple of months to get into just hanging in my closet taunting me to try them on. so i did and they fit. i didn't have time to do a happy dance but i did smile. i wore them and they were comfortable. the scale may not be going down much but inches are. so ppl don't get discouraged by your scale. oh my husband is fine. he fainted at work but it wasn't his heart nor did he have a stroke. he will likely have to make the rounds of the specialists to see if they can't find the problem.

    Nymph's July Exercise Challenge

Think positive thoughts about how your going to look...and what size you will be. I lost one whole dress size in a month doing Water aerobics...This week I lost 2 lbs. not sure what's up with that because I have been slowing way down must be the exercise catching up with me. I never thought I would say that love to exercise but this water aerobics thing has been awesome. Everyone! Listen Up! Take your measurements because at the end of July lets see how many inches we have lost....that is another great NSV that we should ponder on.... I am going to be the Cheerleader this month and cheer you all to victory! Cindy

    What to tell work/coworkers

The question to tell or not, gets less and less important as the weight comes off. Your self esteem goes up, your medications go down, your life is brighter as you get into small clothes and all the other NSVs. It is funny when I quick smoking, I found that when I told people they seemed to push smokes my way. When I told people I had the band, they pushed food my way or made snide comments. Now that doesn't happen when I say with confidence no thanks and give no explanation. My small point being made is - why do we feel we need to give any explanation but we do? As someone posted, when people comment on her weight loss she smiles and replies "Thank you".

I wanted to ask what NSV stand for if you do not mind....LOL I am imagining it is noticeible wieght changes. I have gone down two pant sizes and am wearing shirts I have not had on in a very long time. Woo Hoo so exciting. I actually have size 16 clothes in my closet because I had gotten down that small before this last huge wieght gain I did over 2 1/2 years. I am excited about wearing them again.......and even surpassing that size in a year. COngratulations to us all for our huge achievements already!!

Ok..here is mine. My pants fell down at the store today. I laughed, pulled them up and said I think it is time for some new clothes. I have gone from a size 34 to a size 26 and am almost in a size 24. I have hit all the smallest sizes in the closet. I am 2lbs away from reaching 50% of my weight loss goal of 179lbs. I guess to many NSV's lately. It is what keeps me going. Cindy

What? No NSVs since August??? I know we've had some - come on and share, guys! It helps to keep me motivated, too! But here's MINE for today. I went shopping at Target for some new jeans because mine are hanging off my butt (14s). I thought I'd put on some 12s and have them be tight, but at least I'd be a 12. I put them on REALLY easily. It was strange because I thought, "These seem a little loose - they're not going to last me very long. Maybe I'll just get 10s instead so that I'm not wasting money." So I grabbed some 10s and tried them on, thinking I'd be struggling and sucking in and pulling really hard. OMG...NO...the things went on really easy. Buttoned and very comfortable! I'm a freaking 10! I'm almost positive I was not a 10 this early in the game the last time I lost weight down to this size!!! So then I thought it had to just be the designer of the jeans - fudging me on the size to make people feel better. So I went over and grabbed some 30s in men's (I wear men's pants for work) because I need some new work pants. They went on, too! They were a little bit more snug in the butt than the women's jeans were. I guess, because we all know, men don't have booties. LOL But I bet by next weekend I'll be proudly sporting my 30's to work! OMG...either clothes have gotten bigger, or my body is proportioned a lot differently than it was when I was 17. I SWEAR I did not get into 10's until I was in the 150's. And I KNOW I'm still in the 170's. I'm just so excited. :rolleyes2: I'm REALLY starting to feel skinny again. I love it. I'm so excited to get to wear my jeans somewhere. Funny thing is, I bet by the time I go out to see my family in December, I might have to go buy some 8's!!

I NEEDED new jeans. My wife forced me to buy some. She said I was swimming in the 46 jeans I had. While at Tractor Supply the other day, I noticed their clothing area. I have never even shopped there because I figured the clothes would just be for skinny little bull riders and other cow-pokes. To my surprise, I was checking out the Wrangler section and they had some jeans that went up to WAY past where I am now. I guess it is for the farmers that are getting on up there in age and size! I find a section of Wranglers that are relaxed fit and they don't have 44x32's like I would like to wear. Only 30" inseam... high-waders on my 6' plus frame. I noticed that they had some 42x32's and I grabed a pair of those to just try on and see how far away I am from them. Well, the reason I was swimming around in the 46 jeans is because the 42's FIT. I can't believe it, but they do fit. WOOO HOOO!!! I can buy 42x32's at pretty much any store. I no longer have to go to the big and tall stores or resort to the el-cheapo Wally world jeans! Another NSV happened twice this week. I had 2 people not recognize me. One I saw at Tractor Supply while buying these pants. I used to work with this guy. Naturally we spent a lot of time together. That was just 8 months ago. I said something off the wall that made him know I knew him and he just gave me this BIG blank stare. Ya know, like a cow looking at a new gate... that kind of stare. Then he slowly said, "Craig... Is that you?" OH happy week!

I had a great NSV for me this afternoon. I was getting groceries out of my car and my next door neighbor asks me if my dad is home as he would like to talk to him,,, I turn and look at him and say, Uhhhmm you mean my husband? He stammers and then says Sorry, I thought it was your daughter, and WOW you have lost alot of weight haven't you? With a great big smile I said yes, thank you... I then got my dad for him,,err I mean husband,,hehehehehhe :-D

Kristin - I think that's part of why I chose to not tell anybody about the band, I can't handle the questions! LOL That is so great about the cargo pants. I'm not sure that I'm going down in sizes. I'm scared to try anything on. Hope everything went okay with the ice storm...I'm hearing some terrible things on the news and it just breaks my heart - right before Christmas. Good luck at the Buffet-O-Death on Thursday (I'm exaggerating - I'm sure it'll be fine!). LOL Let us know how everything goes. I have another NSV to add. Like I've said before - I walk about 20 floors' worth of stairs at work. Well, I avoid the ones I can as much as possible. Tonight I just felt like giving it a shot and I jogged (yes! jogged!) up a set of about 20 and didn't feel like I was going to die!! The last time I remember going up those stairs before I lost weight, I had to stop at about 10 and regain my strength and breath. I felt GREAT at the top. Yes, a bit out of breath, but not dying! So I wondered how many I could do. So far I have "jogged" up about 290 steps (and back down). I love it! I'm getting some great exercise and it makes me feel so good physically (not to mention giving me a mental boost). I also am under the impression (if I'm not imagining things) that my tummy looks smaller in my uniform. I wear a badge on my belt and I looked in the mirror and it doesn't look like it's overshadowed by my gut anymore! I'm so excited.
  19. It sounds like you're right on track, then. I know it's tough to be patient when you see others have dramatic drops very quickly, but we all lose at different rates. One thing I've found really helpful for the patience part is to be actively looking for the non-scale victories (NSV) that happen. There's a few NSV threads in the VSG Success Stories area and I hit those whenever i start feeling frustrated. It really helps me to recognize things other than just drops on the scale.

    August NJ Thread......

Morning all. I went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me the all clear to take a bath (limited to 10 mins) and I can start doing LIGHT house work. I am allowed to mop a single room a day. I can do laundry as long as I don't carry it to and from the laundry room. I see him again in 5 weeks, one day before we leave for Disney. I am starting to get stuff together for the trip. I ordered sunscreen from avon today, and I picked up some koolaid packets for our water bottles. I'm also going to the dollar store for a pitcher (we make instant tea in the room) and some cups. I buy several pairs of dollar store sunglasses, as I tend to break and lose them in the parks. I am bad about taking them off when we sit down to eat, and then walking off and leaving them on the table. Oh and I am having a huge NSV, I need new undies. Mine are all falling off...WooHoo! ~Mandy

    duplicate posts abound!

On this subject, I wish folks posting a general question or comment that's not specific to a particular surgery type would put it in the general forums and not sleeve forums, etc. I like to see posts about NSVs and universal issues, but I don't want to scan the sleeve forums for them since I'm a bander.

763 day streak.....I guess that is enough

^^^^ What an AWESOME post. Good for you @@Recycled . I agree with you so much about the need to learn what your own body wants / needs / likes. Like you, My Fitness Pal has been an awesome tool for me. I'm not as far out as you -- was sleeved August 2014, but was using MFP 2.5 months prior to surgery. My shrink has urged me for a long time to break the tie to MFP at least occasionally to trust myself to eat instinctually and "normally." Yeah, right, I've said. But I no longer use MFP when I'm traveling for biz or pleasure. And guess what -- I don't gain weight. Some recent NSVs: * I now trust myself to eat anything and everything -- but I no longer overeat. * I just went on a 2.5 week cruise and didn't gain any weight at all. None! * This is the first January of my life when I didn't have a "lose weight" new year's resolution. * I still follow the rules most of the time -- eat Protein, then veggies, fruits, whole grains, drink lots of Water, don't graze, stop eating when I'm satiated (not stuffed), say no to food I don't need or want, take my meds, Vitamins, minerals and supplements daily, do my exercise (walking, stretching, yoga), get good sleep, don't sweat the small stuff. I think WLS is a freakin' miracle! But there sure isn't a finish line.

    June Surgery anyone?

You know, I was looking through posts last night I came across one about NSV (non scale victories). I read page after page of things that people can now do or wear and the more I read, the more excited I got. I feel like I won the lottery and am just waiting to pick up my check. Never thought I would be excited about someone cutting 85% of my stomach out. Come on June 30th.

    Jeans or a dress?

Years ago, my favorite song to exercise to was "She's a Bad Mama Jama," (even though I didn't then own the words for myself). Now, from the song "Blurred Lines," I love/embrace the words when they say, "You're the hottest bitch in this place!" and "...swag on, even when casual; it's almost unbearable." [A great NSV since surgery is being able to just grab and go when it comes to clothes, so it's easy to do that now]. I agree with jessi...wearing a dress isn't 'trying too hard.' A dress/skit is a normal feminine thing to do...and with less fat, better curves, hey! But do what you'll feel works for you and you won't be self-conscious. If you don't usually wear dresses/skirts (maybe because of the then-weight), it might feel unusual; but I say go for it: a dress and heels. Maybe put on a dress and heels, play some music with a good beat, and dance around your house to see how you feel. In any case, have a good one; and have fun.

Oh...and I jumped on my kids' trampoline for 15 minutes today...I can do that because I am within the weight limit.... May you all experience a great NSV today!!! Rain
