    Not Losing Weight

Yes, yes, YES, I have had the same issues!! It is incredibly frustrating... but I have started counting NSV [Non-scale Victories]. It's so important that my clothes fit better and I can wear jeans [unforgiving as they all are] that I haven't worn in over a year! The theory is, you lose first where you last gained. If that's true [which for me, it seems like it is], then measure yourself weekly. I hated doing it, but I've started. And you know what -- I log it in with my daily intake on Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate. I might not see the numbers on the scale move as often as I'd like, but I can see the numbers move on my measurements. [it also tells you exactly HOW to measure if you're unsure.] It's frustrating, but it's the little steps that add up to the final product. Believe me, I have moments of pure jealousy when I read about someone who's had RNY [gastric bypass] and they've lost 25 pounds compared to my 2 in the past month. But then I remember that I haven't had my 'innards' re-arranged. I opted to be a 'steady' loser... Enough of my pontificating, I hear ya, I do!! Hang in there!!!!

    1st NSV

I went out to dinner with my husband for the first time since being banded 3 weeks ago. I ordered salmon and mashed potatoes and left with over 2/3 of it in a box, I didn't even touch the other side dish! And I was full! In the past a meal out meant appetizers, a few drinks, salad, and dinner. And of course I would eat every bite, then maybe even desert. Following the band rules it took the same amount of time to eat the smaller portions as it took my husband to eat his whole meal. Being able to eat a reasonable portion and feeling satisfied is a NSV for me. I honestly don't remember the last time I experienced that before the band.

    Over this stall

I was sleeved the same day as you. I too have been on a 3.5 week stall. The scale finally moved yesterday, but it was a small move. It's frustrating, but I'm going to keep doing what I have been doing, because I know the scale will eventually move. A NSV is that I lost 16.75 inches so far.

    SV and NSV

I have lost 17 pounds since surgery and 27 total (10before) I have noticed my clothing feeling loose, so today i tried on some of my dogshow clothes. My last show i just grabbed and ran, well i looked like i was in clothing way to big, because it was. My suit was a 26-28 and fit just fine a month ago. Tonight i tried on my 22 size suit i got them sipped up and buttoned. A bit tight but i think i can wear them in a few weeks. Then i put on an outfit my friend gave me a year ago, size 22 sipped up buttoned and i could bend over. I would like it a bit looser but OMG a few months ago i could not get it over my legs. I have NO FOOT OR LEG PAIN since i lost some of my weight. I spoke with one of my doctors today and she said i can start TyeBo again. Woooo hooo, just low impact so i dont hurt my knees. All i can say is THANK YOU Dr Watkins!! SV numbers moving NSV OMG inches have come off more then the scale has moved.
  7. I was at work today--and it was wild--so busy all day long and just going from one patient to the next over and over and never catching up! Paused long enough at the desk to look over some orders and another nurse (with whom I am friendly, but not "friends" with) came up and asked me to help her. As we were walking to the patient's room she said , "Kimberly, I couldn't help but notice how small your ass is getting!". SOOO NICE!

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!

congrats, harley! "downgrading" from morbid to severe is one of my mini goals, too. today's nsv: i started putting aside several big black sweaters and other winter clothes that are too loose. i figure (hope) that they'll be of no use to me by next winter. can't wait to drop them off at the goodwill/salvation army! in other news, i caught myself crossing my legs the other day. i haven't been able to do that comfortably in a year or two. yay me.
  9. I am a Silpada Designs rep.......if you're unfamiliar, it's an exquisite line of sterling silver jewelry....a couple of years ago I bought the most gorgeous sterling and pearl watch....and it never fit right. Too tight and just looked silly...I was upset because one, it was expensive...and two, I just loved it! I've noticed my rings are loose, so I decided to try the watch yesterday....AND IT FIT PERFECTLY....hung right at the top of my hand like it's supposed to! Soooooooooo......I have an ass the size of Texas, but my wrists are NORMAL........ Victory comes with winning small battles.....and I'll take a well-fitting wristwatch as a WIN!

I LOVE this thread! NSV! I have had a few - - The airplane seat belt fits just fine now - with about an inch to spare! I fly nearly every week and prior to surgery I had to push myself back in the seat and suck it in as much as I could to get it fastened! - I no longer pee my pants when I laugh, sneeze or cough! Life is so good! - The other day, I caught myself crossing my legs! I love to sit with my legs crossed, but haven't been able to for a few years now! I'm going to be on the look out for my next NVS!!! I can hardly wait!

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!

Hi Everyone: Yesterday somebody called me "The Incredible Shrinking Sue"! :biggrin2:That was so nice to hear. After that she asked me if I was done yet, because she thought I shouldn't lose much more. I still have 37 pounds to goal, so that was nice to hear. Someone else told me that she was worried that soon I will be thinner than she is. Another one is that I actually have muscles in my thighs! The inside of my thighs are soft and mushy, but the front and outside are getting firm. Yippee. Must be the trikke doing it's magic. Keep sharing your NSV's. Sue
  12. Yay to everyone! SpecialK, your story made ME smile real big, too - in a very manly way, of course. I love that Busy can wear her mother's ring again! And Bratz, your daughter sound like a keeper... I've had such a busy week that I can't remember whether or not I posted about it, but I had an NSV, too: my pants and belt were loose, and I went to tighten the belt to prevent flashing the passersby (not actually a HUGE issue in NYC, to be frank) - and discovered that my belt has run out of notches and can't be tightened any more! I shall now make a Walk of Pride to the cobblers, and have them trim the belt and put in new notches. I'm going to ride this belt down until it's just a little nubbin!

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!

Congrats everyone on your NSV!!! I'm not sure if this is one, but I've had some fellow teachers say that they've noticed I lost weight. Some know I have the band, but some think I'm on a really strict diet. Well today for the first time I had one of my students say that it looks like I'm getting smaller!!! a 16 year old, never notices anything about an adult because they are so into themselves. It made me smile really big!!!
  15. ok, an embarrassing NSV but one never the less. I was playing softball, running to 2nd base and my pants fell DOWN!!!!!!! not sure if any one noticed cuz my panties were the same color as my pants but OMG...MY PANTS FELL DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Time for new pants!!!!!

NSV = NON-scale VICTORY! Something that happens as a result of weightloss that is not directly tied to the numbers.....like fitting in to clothes, seatbelt finally fitting, a hug that wraps all the way around.....things like that!! Here's a link to the thread with all of the definitions: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f73/abbreviations-what-they-mean-7959/

    NSV!!

Today when I was getting ready for work I realized I desperately needed to do laundry. The only clean "work" shirt I had left was the one I wore in my "before" pictures. I've been avoiding wearing it since then. I didn't want to put it on and not be able to tell a difference. NOT a problem! As soon as I put it on, I could tell it felt looser around the arms. And around what passes for my waist. I practically skipped to work. BTW: I'll be updating my ticker tomorrow. This morning was much too hectic.

What do ya'll do besides eat

Geez, I am still cracking up!!! Mikey! I will be printing them for later.. :hail: I scrapbook! It helps that I have a daughter- wait, no it doesn't. I Scrap during her naps or after she goes to bed. No kids, no schedule right? Anyway, once I get going it sucks up 3 hours easy and then there are all the wonderful memories immortalized 'forever' (it IS just paper). On the bright side, you will want a page about your day trip to ___ , or your weekend in _____. What about a page for each NSV? C'mon, thats a good one... A scrapbook of you. A hobby for the creative, but it doesn't require a second mortgage.

    Marchies in September!!

My NSV today my 6 year old was able to wrap her arms completely around my waist and lock her hands together. That's never happened! I got my first full embrace from my little girl! Mind you the little terror will lay on top of me and cuddle a million different ways, but I've been so looking forward to this one and it finally happened. Denise, girl you kill me. But yeah baby, you're just a bitch, not a fat one. Woo Hoo.
  20. Heck yeah...128# down and I fit into the smallest booth.(.which I avoided like the plague prior because I couldn't fit into the damned thing) TGIF had to offer...take THAT you cursed booth..how'd you like my fat arse now??! But of course ..it's not fat anymore!!!!! Thanks sleeve ...best decision I ever made!!!
  21. Just an update. My wife and I have been on a long battle with weight loss. The last 6 months since surgery has made a big difference. In the last 3 years we have lost 273lbs together. In the last 6 months since we had surgery we has lost 128lbs. We are getting so close to our goals. I had a NSV this week. I started out in a 60long suit. I bought a 46long this week. My wife was a size 28-30. I bought her 12-14 for mother's day. The last time I was this size I was 15 years old. Dr. Sanchez put us on his success stories this week. All you support has been such a great blessing. Thanks Dow And Debbie Moses

    If the seatbelt fits...

eating out - Soups, chili, non-fried appetizer (shrimp cocktail is always a good choice), or order an entree that fits into your program's parameters (nothing fried, basically Protein and vegetables) and just eat a cup of it (or however much you're supposed to be eating now). Then have them box up the rest (that is, if your hotel room has a fridge!) congrats on the plane thing - that was a huge NSV for me as well!

Nsv = New Jeans & New Size

I brought a pair of skinny jeans last week. Size 18. I don't ever remember buying that size before its been so long. When I held them up, I thought, well maybe next month I should be able to fit them. But I tried them on, and they came right up and buttoned. No sucking in. I wanted to cry. Literally. I ran and showed my husband. I'm trying on 16 this week just to see how they would feel. There are days I hate this band and days I'm in love with it. Today, I'm loving it like McDonald's.
