    2 weeks post-op

Women don’t post in the gals room, hardly ever. Maybe if it’s about periods or vaginas, but it’s rare. And even sometimes they just say, “men beware” or “TMI”. Especially rare considering the high percentage of women that are members. So no, I don’t think women would care if a man posted in their designated room.

    What Are Your Cant Haves

No more sirloin steak. I'm strictly filet mignon now. Or it just comes back up. Sorry for the TMI.

    January 2017 Sleevers

I was sleeved on the 3rd and most of my gas "chest pressure" is gone. I did use gas x for a few days and it helped. Not sure how you are passing gas, but the past few days I've been full of it and I feel so much better getting it out. I know tmi! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far

Salsa, you're kicking butt!!! I'm so impressed that you're running!!! Maybe I'll be up to that when I get down in Onederland myself (if my feet get happier). I had a great bellydance class last night. I've managed to finally master a step that I've struggled with for over a year, so the teacher is pushing us all by practicing that step for LONG periods of time. My hips and thighs were really feeling it when I got home, so I know I got some serious toning done. What I'm noticing is how much easier things are for me, and I actually can do some of the moves on my toes without my feet screaming in pain. That's HUGE! What really got me giggling last week is that I did a "vibration" naked last week (was goofing around while getting dressed). I know I've got the move down, but it's bizarre seeing it without the clothes to cover things. I literally had "waves" of vibration traveling everywhere - what a hoot! I know, probably mega-TMI but it did amuse me quite a bit. I'll probably have to relearn moves as I get smaller because I won't be able to rely on my jiggly bits making the appearance of the move and will have to use the muscles more. Anyway, good work everyone! Keep that motivation rolling!

    Horrible Constipation

TMI, but I nearly passed out in the shower (not on) when attempting to use an enema. I was in so much pain. Enema didn't work and went the manual route, which was a big relief. Hurt for a few days after but all better after a week. I try to really keep on top of my liquids, too. Constipation is awful. Hope you feel better soon!

    Banders #6

Just wanted to mention that I need new stockings. I'm wearing a pair I got from the back of the drawer and now I know why they are there. Talk about baggy ankles...I keep having to pull them up so high that the waistband is up under my boobs. I know...TMI for the guys on this thread but you're all married so you know the score. Have a great Monday everyone!

I'm just going to throw this out there. It's a little too much TMI but a valid point to make. You all may or may not have thought about it, but since we have to eat so much protein, it's going to slow down our plumbing. I've been drinking a least one protein shake a day for 3 weeks and have noticed "issues". I'm thinking we should just stock up on stool softeners.

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!

Lisa, if you could get your doctor to write an order for an upper GI as medically necessary, perhaps then your insurance would pay? Because, for example, wouldn't your insurance pay if you got an infection because of the band and needed some medical intervention? Might be worth investigating. I did get a slight unfill on Friday afternoon, and the surgeon told me that my pouch was a little bigger since the surgery date, but that is to be expected after a year. But, thankfully, no slipping... and that's after two months of a lot getting stuck and then coming back up (sorry, TMI). I told him I was really scared about the slipping because I, too, had read so many stories. He said that you really have to be vomiting a lot for that to happen. However, that said, if the band is at the correct adjustment, no one should be vomiting. Sigh... this is so much more complicated than I ever dreamed! :cursing: But, I'm SOOO glad I did it. Worth it all.

Not sure if you can have it or not, but Melatonin has worked wonders for alot of people! It's natural too! DBF is yawning and practically sleeping 10 minutes after he takes it, and wakes up very refreshed!(or maybe he's refreshed because we "talk" all night.. tmi, lol.:thumbup::thumbup::crying:)

    Dr. Trace Curry-Cincinnati, Ohio

Well, I guess I wasn't dehydrated, I just couldn't pee lol. So I'm stuck with a catheter until Monday...yay lol. I've noticed any stomach pain comes with some gurgling and gas. I only take one small sip then wait about 10 seconds and repeat. I'm tolerating most everything I've ingested. TMI but I got the worse yeast infection Tuesday night. Never had one before but it is worse than the incision or stomach pains. And thank you for the compliment, you are so sweet! You looked great for just having a major operation! Lol. I woke up with quite a bit of nausea. But after all that was taken care of, I was fine. Do you feel much restriction? The only time I know I drank too much or too fast is that my stomach makes a gurgling noise. It's hard to realize that I actually have 85% less of my stomach when only consuming liquids lol. And by any chance do you know what size of boogie Dr. Curry uses? You know I would love to have your email or phone number so we can communicate a little better

    Dating issues... is this normal?

I've finally begun to date again. The first guy was gushy about thinking that we were made for each other and even mentioned eventual marriage... on the FIRST date! I didn't go out with him again. I've just met someone a week ago who is pretty nice, but he has been calling and texting me much more than I am comfortable with and is also talking about when "he and I can become we". It has only been a week! He is also very physical and I feel like I'm starting to have to insist on not being so touchy feely. Is this normal? I'm almost to the point where I don't want to date, and am wondering if it is just me or just the luck of the draw in meeting these two guys. Also.... (TMI alert)... I don't like french kissing and both of these guys seemed to want to chase my tonsils down my throat! Forgive my rant. I'm just not quite able to handle myself in this area yet, especially in handling the kissing issue. Any suggestions?

    B.C. Pills

I just wanted to throw up one more update for any reading in the future. TMI Alert: 78 hours after stopping I started flowing heavy. That lasted 3 days then stopped. I would go a few days and then spot, go a few days and spot. Now I think I am having my "normal" period but it is heavy, full of clots, and taking forever. At the rate I am going I will still be flowing for surgery on Wed. That should be nice once I get the Heparin (blood thinner) shot. I have not had a period like this since I was like 15 or 16. I would honestly have postponed my surgery a month and finished the pill pack. Emotionally it has been a hot poker in an already hot fire. Just kinda hard to deal with. Feel free to message me if you have questions.
  13. I find that I do best when I eat one to two times per day. I focus on the Protein first and have a few nibbles on tastier things with carbs. I'm five weeks out and still have never reached more than 500 calories and 30 grams of protein a day. It's a struggle for sure. I gave up on Protein Shakes weeks ago. Barf. Tmi but I used to be anorexic and bulimic. I went for months without eating at times and I never lost my hair or or got sick. On one level this worries me because I don't have a lot of fear of what could happen. I'm not very good at following rules. On another hand I am not really worried because I know it's going to get better and in three months I can swallow Vitamins which will make taking my vitamins much easier. I have so much naseau and pain in my stomach at times, tastes make me sick and I really struggle with the supplements and portions. I would rather not deal with food at all most of the time! I have lost 35 pounds since surgery and I have pretty low energy. I'm going to start working out this week because I think that will actually help a lot. It takes time! I'm happy to see you all doing well!!

    Fiber & Bowel Movements...

    U all don't know how much better I feel.. I am up to 5-now.. I mean full movements....lol.. I know it's TMI.. but what a relief....lol...
  15. Hi All, I am sorry for this gross post but need some opinions and rather not ask people I know in real life I am 3.5 weeks sleeved and am suffering from constipation the last few days. Yesterday I went to the bathroom (just a tiny bit) and the rest is just stuck. I really feel like there is this one really hard piece of poop that is stuck there and won't come out. If I could just get passed that one piece everything else will start moving. I've been drinking a lot Water and yesterday ate sweet potatoes and bananas (still on puréed). I haven't gone to any stool softener yet because 1 I think I only need help with that one piece that's almost out. So not sure that it will help? 2. Scared it will cause stomach cramping or dehydration. Any suggestions on what can help? My butt really hurts because it's literally trying to come out but can't. Plastics done :)

Had my first post op visit today. Everything is going great! Everything seems to be healing well. They think my drains (some if not all) will get to come out on Tuesday. Today they just cleaned the sites and put new stickers down to help hold them in place. Next Friday I'll get the tape removed from my incisions and start the scar care routine. I'm starting to be able to walk upright just a bit more, but not totally straight yet. They told me to play it by ear, and listen to my body. If I'm not feeling pain, I can continue to straighten up more. TMI - but I finally had a BM today. I ended up needing an enema, which I did at home. Really haven't been taking much as far as narcotics, but despite colace twice daily, fiber, increased fluid, miralax, and two doses of milk of magnesia I still couldn't go. I was starting to get really uncomfortable to the point t it was causing some pain, so I decided to do the enema. It worked, and I felt to much better. I still tire out pretty quickly. I don't like being "lazy" but know I need to let my body heal so I rest frequently and take naps a lot. My husband has been so supportive and amazing helping with all the things I can't do. I'm really hoping by next week I'll have more stamina! After my visit I took my garments off to snap a quick update picture. Of course I'm still super swollen, but LOVING my results so far! This whole processing has been such a blessing, and can't wait to see continued changes as I heal more. [emoji173]️
  17. Yes we need a secret group. I would love to be part of that. Only my husband and mother know. On another note, I was sleeved June 30 and am also in a 6 day stall. I've lost 11 pounds since surgery and lost them on the first few days then nothing since! Of course I also haven't had a BM in a week! ???? Took some miralax yesterday and today so hoping that changes soon! Sorry TMI!!
  18. Positive post for people living with diabetes and in the pre op phase. I became a diabetic at 29 in 2018 my first blood sugar reading was 329 A1C 13.5.I was put on meds metaformin and insulin, but changed my lifestyle and was running too many lows so was taken off. In 2020 I started to get real bad yeast infections( TMI) checked my blood sugar 521 A1C 11.5 scheduled an appointment with a endocrinologist was put on humalog and trujao soloster. After getting my A1C down to 6. I was put on ozempic and trujao. Two weeks after surgery I was told discount all meds and that I didn’t have to see my endocrinologist anymore. Since surgery resting sugar is always 70 never below and after a meal in the 90’s the highest it’s been was 104. Sorry for the long post but I wanted you all to know my struggle. Btw I had surgery 3/3. I hope others who are undergoing surgery due to weight and diabetes get the same blessing!

    *APRIL* BANDITS May Challenge

Well, I'm back to "almost normal"........feeling pretty good again, the drippy nose is almost dry (TMI)............ Got to NIA yesterday, but this morning I stayed home to wash clothes and clean up after our gang from Sacramento's trip to visit this week-end.......................we had so much fun with all the kiddies...........had all 8 grandkids over most of the time..................I'm pooped, but with a happy Grammy glow! I now have to think about our trip to the east coast............getting excited about that! Hope you all had a happy Mommies Day! Will get back to being serious about exercise starting tomorrow......not sure if I'll be able to make the my goal this month, but I'll give it my all.
  20. Soo......I thought I had my timing close enough to perfect but now fear with surgery on June 21s that I will be starting/in midst of my period. I usually have cramps and just wondering if anyone else had this happen. Was it terrible or does it just make the need for heating pad and drugs seem even more reasonable?

2 days post-op, 1 more day till I can eat real food!

Things have been a little more rough since I left the hospital. The dosage of pain medication I was prescribed for home is significantly less than what I was getting in the hospital and boy does it make a difference!!! My gas pain was pretty bad last night and the gas-x strips don't seem to work very well on it when it is in my back and shoulder. A heating pad helps w/my back, though, and I did end up getting a good night's sleep. I had one big farting episode in the middle of the night that helped relieve a lot of the gas pressure and then another today. I have never wished I could fart more in my whole life. I would love to just toot toot toot all the rest of this out of my body and be done w/it. Sorry, TMI!!! I am also really getting tired of only being able to have broth, herbal tea, diet jello, and water. I did discuss this w/my surgeon's assistant and she assured me that the hunger I am feeling right now is really just head hunger. And, I agree because this doesn't feel like the real hunger I had right before surgery. Right before surgery (I had not eaten for 24 hours), my stomach was growling really bad and felt like it was eating itself. I couldn't think of anything except how hungry I was and how I wanted to be knocked out so I wouldn't feel hungry. My 'hunger' now is more of just wanting to taste and enjoy something different than jello, broth, and tea. Anyway, I am so thankful my husband has been so supportive and helpful AND has not been eating around me. What a saint! He went over to my inlaws tonight w/the kids for dinner. I just have to get through one more day of no eating now and then I can start trying foods on Monday. My surgeon has you go straight to real food, but to be safe I will start w/cottage cheese or yogurt I think. Then, I have some good deli meat I got from Costco and also some smoked salmon. Mmmmmmmm, that sounds so good. I also have some yummy soups in the pantry... roasted red pepper & tomato w/a dollop of greek yogurt... mmmmmm, I am giving myself more 'head hunger' now. I watched Julie and Julia last night. What a great movie to watch when you can't eat eh?

    Fiber!!!

I can eat 4-6 ounces depending on what it is. I've been lucky I haven't found anything that hurts my new stomach. It is extremely painful to go and it's only 1 or 2 times a week. TMI I know!

    June 2009 Surgery

Yes congrats on the quitting smoking! I've been smoke free for three months now and I just now feel like I can breath so much easier. I also seem to sleep a lot better too. Finally stopped hacking crap up:ack2: (TMI I know..) For all of you looking for good Protein shakes, try Isopure. There's actually an add for it over on the right of the page a lot. It's the best quality protein and is very very low fat and carb. I think with a little added sweetener and even some various extracts, it tastes great. You don't even need to blend it, it mixes fine with a spoon. Just a thought. Good luck on the preop diets everyone I'm struggling, but getting it done without cheating, so far

    Flame Free Friday Confessions!

I had coffee and a cake donut at a 3 ½ hour long meeting Wednesday. I eat the donut in batches of 3 it took about 1 ½ hours and I had no real issues I felt the restriction and wasn’t over full, however by the end of the day I had to go to the bathroom (TMI) because my stomach felt upset, I thought I would have diarrhea but I didn’t. So what I learn is that donuts can be done with my sleeve and I get restriction but shouldn’t be done because of the tummy issues.
  25. Ok so I'm sorry to any guys in here and this is prob tmi but were any of you on your monthly cycle for surgery? At my pre-op they told me to stop my birth control b/c it could cause blood clots. But then said its ok if that starts my cycle. Cmon. Why didn't you tell me this a month ago so my body would get used to it. Of course I started yesterday (again) with cramps & all. It's heavy today so I doubt it stops overnight. I'm more nervous about this than the actual surgical procedure. Yuck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
