I have my surgery date and by my calculations, it will likely be "that time of the month." It's making me nervous. Did anyone experience this at the time of their surgery? I have my final pre-op appointment with the doctor in a couple of weeks and plan on bringing it up, but I don't wan to sound silly.

I have horrible constipation when I don't drink at least 64 ounces of water! I wanted to try Water before resorting to pills or any other stuff and water worked wonderfully! Also, and I know this may sound weird or be a TMI thing, but putting a foot up on the toilet seat and hugging my knee to my chest helped immensely! Something to do with our bodies are not built to fully relieve the contents of our bowels in a sitting position, but rather in a squatting position. It really helps so it's not so painful and straining. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What vitamins and supplements do you use?
MerryHearted replied to ColleenErin1974's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Generally your surgery center will provide guidelines on what they want you taking after surgery. I'm on: Celebrate Multi (2x daily) chewable, Celebrate Iron+C chewable (because my multi doesn't have iron), and daily sublingual B12. At 5 weeks I add in a daily Calcium chew. I have a bunch of samples from my dietician to try that I'm going to use before picking one. Additionally: a stool softener. They suggested Milk of Magnesia and/or Miralax as needed. I needed it at first, right now I don't. I'm going to add a probiotic here this week though, as I've been having diarrhea issues (TMI, I know). It's helped in the past with that sort of thing. I prefer the kind you stir into a bit of Water or yogurt rather than capsules, so I have to go buy in person as they are refrigerated and not generally available to buy online. Our first blood panel is at 6 months to check for deficiencies, at which point I'll know if I need to supplement with Vit D or something else. -
In 4 days I hit the one month mark since gastric. I had been at the 3 week stall and all of the sudden I lost 2 lbs. I was super excited. Yesterday all I had for the day was almost one full protein drink and I made tacos for my family. I took a little of the 90/10 hamburger meat , a little of the light sour cream, a sprinkle of the cheese, and about a tsp of fresh salsa and mixed ut up. That was my dinner. Tell me why I woke up almost 2 lbs heavier?!?! I am seriously so upset. It's like im never supposed to eat. Very discouraged. I know this is tmi but I haven't used the bathroom in like 5 days but dont feel like I need to either.

Hi, I'm 7 days post op and I am having a really hard time tolerating the premier Protein premade drinks. They are so gross & Too sweet for me. I also think they are irritating my stomach. I wake up every morning with lose bowels. I know, I'm sorry TMI, but I didn't know who to ask? . Can anyone recommend another way to get my protein in besides the doctor approved protein yogurts? Maybe some that aren't so sweet, or clear ones, or lactose free ones that are clear? Thank you in advance

Preventing constipation TMI
Marisa13 replied to Sugarnspice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say my day 3 taking it, I became "regular ". I know it's TMI to some people, but I'm miserable if I don't poop regular/once a day! Lol. I will keep taking my Miralax, thank you very much. The alternative is not pleasant! My family teases me, says I should be on their commercial..."I love my LAX!" [emoji16] -
I was very constipated it was so painful I thought something was wrong like a leak. I took milk of magnesia per surgeon suggestions on the toilet all night but feel much better. Question what do you take to stay regular ?? My doctor recommends benifiber any suggestions ?

Mexico Bariatric Center- Mi Hospital- Dr. Valenzuela
biginjapan replied to Eric M's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes I did. I'm now 12 days post-op and have lost 6kg/13lb since then. I've felt really good since surgery, including the day of, with no gas pains, no nausea, and little restriction with liquids. And since about day 4 or 5, 3 BMs a day (a little TMI, but a lot of people suffer from constipation post-op). However, I was the only one on my floor like that - everyone else had one or more of the common issues. However, I do find that I am having more restrictions with liquids now, so I have to spread out my drinking and "meals" (still liquids) to be smaller but more constant throughout the day. -
I'm sorry if this is tmi to post but I don't know what to do. I'm going to call my doctor but I want to know if anyone else has experienced this. I woke up this morning to blood in my underwear. It was a huge amount of vaginal discharge. It looked like it could be period blood but I ended my period about a week ago. And it didn't start out light and then get heavier, it looks like it all came out at the same time. I'm newish to the forums so if someone already posted about this is missed it and I'm sorry. But please if you have any idea what's going on please help

Sleeved on Wednesday! Normal pains?
DJ's Mom replied to jjsasha's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on Tuesday and just experienced this last night. I just got up and felt so much pain and bloating. TMI but I went to the bathroom and attempted to pass gas, I actually had my first bowel movements since pre op. I no longer feel bloated and majority of the pain is gone after being able to pass gas several times. Good luck to you. -

How did you get over your addiction?
Guest replied to JerseyJules's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I talked to the nutritionist and the dr. I have followed all instructions since pre-op to a a T. I have never even liked rice before this, I know they told us we can get some rice crackers at some level (in my head they are the Chinese kind--not sure cuz I wasn't planning on getting). I think because there was nothing I felt like eating, they said 2 T or so, not a problem. Well, that's probably more than I had. Today I threw away 1/2 eaten containers of yogurt, cottage cheese, almost a whole container of avocado, some Ricotta Bake (read about recipe---people love this), green Beans ---those gag me now. Out of the 4 weeks I have spent almost 2 weeks (I know, TMI---but had the big D, whispering Diarrhea). I haven't been sick in almost 25 years, and this has taken it's toll on me. I was hoping the little bit of rice would stop losing weight cuz of the carbs, but nope lost another pound. I was so dehydrated I thought about going to dr. or urgent care, but finally no fever today. I didn't eat processed foods before surgery, and find anything like Pedialyte or Powerade Zero, sugar free Jello, can't do those popsicles at all, so chemically tasting. I always made my own food, was pretty LCHF and lately all Proteins seem unbearable. I tried making egg salad, chicken salad, all pureed....damn what a struggle. I figure maybe after this dehydration things totally passes, I will be able to eat again. I love fish, made some last night, nope, my hub had to eat it. Not even rotisserie chicken, which we can eat the dark. Who'd have thunk it???? Struggle to find food to eat. I used to love green beans from the Chinese restaurant, I mean love love love, I almost threw up trying to eat 2 pieces last night. This is just so crazy. -
February Surgery! Any buddies?
CQ209 replied to lambypie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my surgery yesterday, got out of the hospital earlier today, and I feel pretty good, oddly. Walking around with no problems, hardly using pain killers, passing gas (sorry if that's tmi), handling my liquids. I can't complain about this part, but I'm worried re-introducing food will be trying. We will see. Congrats to you all!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Anyone anxious about new food?
Jill_Me replied to melliecat's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was allowed to have red and green leaf lettuce only after only 2 weeks, but I didn't want it. I started with chicken Cesar salad incidentally when a friend offered me some at around 6 weeks postop. I chewed it very well and even had a few little crunchy croutons. I love the crunch of the romaine hearts. It felt odd at first to chew salad to applesauce consistency in my mouth but now I think I love salad more than I ever did before. I used to inhale salads and often wasn't fully digesting them (tmi).
