Is this a stall or my set point weight?
James Marusek replied to LaLaDee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suspect it is a stall. Sleeve patients can be in the weight loss phase for up to a couple years and encounter many stalls along the way. That is why someone on this site came up with the slogan "Embrace the Stall". Many find that when they are in a stall, they find other successes, like dropping a size in clothing or other NSVs. -
Reading so many clothes ones, I’ll add: I have bought a few nicer smaller pantiesover the last year as I lost. But my old cotton ones still sort of worked so I didn’t overhaul them. Now that I can wear actual dresses without longline “shorts” under them to protect the chafing thighs, I PUT ON ONE OF THE OLD PANTIES AND IT WAS FALLING DOWN under the dress! So I ordered as a surgiversary gift a whole set of new undies and the others are trashed as soon as the new ones arrive! Another NSV from today: I found out that working out flattens the earth. I walked my daughter up to her first day of camp. Same place as last year. I had to hike up this hill to her group. Same area this year, but no hot sweaty hike up the hill.... I didn’t even realize it was slightly uphill. It was Everest last year; this year it’s as easy to walk as a flat sidewalk. Yeah!

NSV: yesterday a business man came into to see one of the bosses. He gave me a candy bar first and then the paperwork. I said I would be sure to give to supervisor. he says no candy is for you. I said its ok, he was , NO ITS FOR YOU. I said thank you , that I had had weight surgery so I tend to stay away from candy. He looked at me up and down and said you don't need surgery (probably didn't understand what I had said). It's nice knowing that I look fit enough to where I would not need one, lol. Working out 25 out of 31 days definitely helps!

I hope you get well quickly so you can discover more NSV's!

Are you happy with your sleeve
GastricSleeve2018 replied to Sassytallgurl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm back again. I am getting all my fluids in, pooped (tmi but the best NSV right after surgery), walking around the block 1x a day, walking a lot in my house, etc. 198 lbs down from 220. Sleeved June 11th. I do not regret this one bit. I wish I would have cared more when I started getting fat. Alas, this is the best tool for weight loss. -

VSG on 4/16/18: My journey

Small NSV: I have never been able to wear this tank that I got as a gift from my boyfriend, because my belly was too big. It doesn’t fit perfectly yet, but I will be able to wear it to the gym by football season! -
I just had an NSV that I didn’t think I’d ever have. Apparently I don’t have thigh chafing anymore. No cub rub. No more shorts under skirts and dresses. I have had that since puberty and was convinced half the problem was being over weight and half the problem was the way my thighs were built. But omg. My thighs don’t rub together anymore. It is kinda freaking me out!

The one thing you could not live without post surgery
Frustr8 replied to Oceanlove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think, for me hands down a little a little emotional support from those I love would be very cool. Just like my first bike, the first pair of high heels, the first time,i tried to steer that bulky, piece of e n gineering we call an automobile, someone to say Hey its Okay, you are Not going to kill yourself doing this! Oh that is something the little teeny ME inside craves this. Yes,to the average bystander I look like a big Obese GrownUp Person. but deep down inside Little Girl Frustr8 worries? What if I can't make a success of this all? and telling her Just Shut Up is being cruel to my quivery foundation. Like the Little Engine that Could I keep chanting I Think I Can I think I can but a" surrounder" like Cammarays friend who gave her a NSV by saying" Yes I can see a change" that would be SO COOL! -
Well Cammarays. you are sparkling for me from afar, and Rosie what a lovely occurance for you, you are literally in your 2nd Youth with such a petite size. Reading these NSV firms the resolve of Pre Surgery Chicks like Me. We say" Hey they could do it, If I firm my resolve, keep following the diet and exercise rules, I think,I can too!" and we keep chugging along, even with doldrums on either side, toward our future finishes. Thank you for your shining examples!🙉🙈🙊😛

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +

Hey don't despair, your body is still confused and trying to realign itself. Remember about the NSVs the the non surgical victories, you might lose inches before a great big weight loss. Your feet might get less plump, your tummy might not be as tightly fat, the poundage might stay the same and things might redefine. Suspect this is why the veterans tell you to take measurements, them when you're blue maybe your wrists, waist etc might still have decreased in size. Everything gonna be all right, my dear, you'll get past this as many, others have before!😛 -
So I had a NSV today and I just had to share! I’ve been very depressed since my surgery because four days after my surgery, I’m five weeks post op, I got a staph infection in one of my incision sites and had to have it drained and have a drain put in for almost two weeks due to an abscess. I was very depressed even my coworkers were worried even though I was still home and I isolated myself from everyone. It took a very long time for the incision to close and I was beginning to worry. Well with that being said, today my friend who is a medical assistant and helping me through this confirmed that my incision is officially closed!!!! No more band aids or butterfly sutures!!! This has officially been the best day ever. I called the surgeons office and told them, they were aware she was watching it and I asked if I could start working out again and they gave me the green light!!! This has been a big day for me today 🙏🏼

given some more time it will even out mostly by going away. this one was a great NSV for me - putting my wedding ring back on after years of it sitting in a drawer. then you may need it resized but wait for a few months

If You Knew Then What You Know Now...
Sadiebug replied to Em_Jay75's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Follow your program guidelines 100% - just because you can do something outside the guidelines doesn't mean you should. It is so much easier to get into good habits from the start vs. trying to change them later when you see bad things creeping in. Lean on your support system as much as possible, especially dieticians to get new ideas for things to try that are within your guidelines. Don't get too focused on the numbers. Take lots of pictures and measurements and focus on the NSV's. And lastly don't sweat the small stuff. It's a huge emotional rollercoaster and getting worked up about how many pounds you did or didn't lose in the last day or two or if you have "stalled" because you didn't lose weight in the past 24 hours is just not worth it. -
I had a NSV tonight that made me smile...my bath towel wrapped all the way around me without any gaps
-
only a few of us on Bariatric Pal can say that,i vote that a bono fide NSV!👍
-
Gosh how wonderful that is! I had a kid come up to me and ask "Are you fat or a woman?: although I may not ever see little Mr Smartmouth again, it would be a NSV not to field such questions again. See I always felt like I was cute inside it has been troubling to to be making the outside match!😭😪
