  1. 3 week stall? lol..i am waiting to hit mine! everyone says they usually lose inches during this time... I am 1 month yesterday still losing but VERY SLOW now
  2. Guess I definitely hit the dreaded 3 week stall. Lost 14 pounds at 10 day post op appointment, then 2 more and then it stopped. So 3 weeks out and stuck at 16 pounds. I am getting about 500 calories / 60-70 grams of Protein a day. Eating Greek yogurt, fat free refried Beans, cottage cheese, hummus on soft lunch meat turkey that is easy for me to chew before swallowing. I see Nut Friday, see what tips she will give me to be sure I'm doing everything right.

I know my 3-week stall started before week 3 and it's coming off slowly... Sent from my iPhone

3 weeks post op and depressed.

You could just have described me! I am almost 2 weeks post op and other than the acid reflux (doc said to take Prilosec for 3 months to keep acid down and the stomach heals). I lost 7#'s the first week after surgery. I am getting in at least 60g of Protein. I'm drinking 60+ oz of Water. I eat soup (tomato mainly) - and I can eat the entire can - I didn't think I would be able to. I haven't lost any #'s the last week. I feel like I didn't even have surgery! I'm hoping when I get to the pureed stage that I will fill up with small amounts. I'm not depressed - I'm just concerned that I'm not doing enough of something or too much of another; I know about the 3 week stall but I haven't heard of a less than 2 week stall! :/

I'm not depressed - I'm just concerned that I'm not doing enough of something or too much of another; I know about the 3 week stall but I haven't heard of a less than 2 week stall! :/ I'm also 3-wks post op and not loving life. I have very little discomfort unless I take too big a swallow of something (my own fault). My biggest frustration is that I'm not losing weight. I lost 10 lbs the first 7 days and since then nothing. Here I am 3wks post op and I've only lost 10 lbs. I hear other people at 3wks lost 20+ lbs. I try not to compare myself but jeeze I'm bumbed. I'm logging every bite (range between 800 - 900 calories/day) and every sip of water (40-60 oz/day) and every bit of exercise (walking about 2 miles every other day). Oh, another crazy thing is the lovely acid reflux I have every time I eat (never had that before - yummy!). And, when I drink water, soup, or any liquid, my internal plumbing likes to grunt, groan, and gurgle until air bubbles come up as burps. I can stifle the burps but I can't control the other noises and my co-workers are noticing and giving looks. Yup, so I'm there with ya on the frustration platform.
  6. Thanks everyone, I finally hit the 3 week stall and its pissing me off!!! I'm trying to avoid the scale for a week to see what happens Craig Martinez Austin, Texas
  7. After 1 week pre-op diet and 2 weeks post-op I had lost 38lbs but like almost everyone else I'm stuck in my 3 week stall. How long did yours last?
  8. I'm on my 3 week stall too, and it's such a bummer. Knowing that everyone says it's normal doesn't make it feel any better!
  9. 3 weeks stall is here! 3 days and I am not losing weight on the scale . More gym, still 800 calories and nothing. I embrace the stall as it was said here many times. I know it is a matter of time before it kicks off again as I am doing the right thing. I need to be careful because I believe that head hunger is coming up. I had a "working lunch" at work with catering and absolutely nothing I could eat. Frustrating. Food looks good and I thought I was hungry when it was not the case. I had to step out to get my shake, hiding so nobody would notice. I can't wait to come back to a "normal" life even if it means eating one mini sandwich and not a dozen like I used to . Anyway it is such a small price to pay for all the benefits the sleeve is bringing me.
  10. so, I have heard of it, the three week stall, but I don't like it very much. I think part of my problem is that I am not taking in enough fluids or just throwing them up. I just took some mirilax because I havent had a bowel movement in a week. Yes, I said a week. I have RA and am on pain medication and that doesn't help at all. so when does this stage pass. I am so discouraged!

    Week 3

Don't over do it on the exercise people! Your bodies just had surgey. They are healing and also adjusting to the low calories. 30 minutes 3-4 times a week is plenty. The stalls or gains may be caused by doing too much and your bodies not getting enough nutrition sending it into starvation mode. If you are not over eating, then do not over exercise either. I had a 3 week stall when I started working out. When I slowed down only doing 30 to 45 mins on weights and or walking then I started to lose again. But, I'm 10 weeks out now and I haven't lost anything this past week again. I'm okay with it because I know I could be doing better with my Water intake and Protein too. I didn't think I would have to watch my diet so much after surgery but I am still very glad I had it. The reason being... I do not constantly think about food. Fatty high carb and sugary foods make me extremely nauseous just to think about them now. Surgery has changed my way of thinking when it comes to food. That is my solution! Things will start moving again, It's all good!

Awesome job!! I was sleeved 3/16/16 and just broke the 3 week stall. Any tips? Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App 1excited I have been fortunate to not have had any stalls as of yet but I switch up my exercises every week because even before surgery my body got used to doing an exercise to quickly and then I wouldn't have results. I am also fortunate to have 2 personal trainers as best friends and have my best interest at heart so they make the routines for me each week. i am also very conscious about what I am eating even though it is still in very small amounts I am making healthy Protein packed choices I mainly eat meat (steak, chicken, fish and turkey) chat this point don't have room for much else. I walk everyday on lunch for 45 to 55 mins and take frequent breaks to help get to my 10,000 steps a day. Best advice I have for you is to be doing this for yourself and no one else you will be your best motivation or your own worst enemy. Sometimes we have to get out of our own way and step out on another path. I have changed my way of thinking no more mindless snacking, meals are prepped and thought out every Sunday for the week and exercise is on top of my daily activities to do. I wish you the best of luck on your journey!. Thank you for such amazing advice Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App

  15. Virtually everyone hits a significant stall at three weeks out. If you don't believe me, do a Google search for something like "vsg 3 week stall" or "weight loss surgery third week stall" -- you are not alone! That said, I strongly recommend not weighing yourself so frequently. There are going to be times when weight doesn't come off like you want it, and you will never lose in a way that would result in a straight downward slope if you plotted your weight loss on a graph. If you find three days of no weight loss discouraging, buckle down, because you will have stalls for far longer than that, and you can't let that mess with your head.

    What the heck happened?!

You are experiencing the famous 3 week stall. Do a search, there's probably 1,000 posts about it. Go to the link Inner Surfer Girl provided for a good explaination. Just keep doing what you're doing other than STAY OFF THE scale. Your weight will fluctuate thoughout this process and if you aren't prepared to accept that then you are better off not weighing at all. You don't need a scale to lose weight. You only need to follow the plan. I don't even own a scale and I lost over 100% of my excess weight.
  17. Hello Everyone! I just wanted to share my before and now progress photos and a little bit about my journey so far! I am about 9 weeks post-op. I am 5'3 and my starting weight was 243. I currently weigh 203. I am feeling a lot better already! I no longer have high blood pressure and I'm no longer pre-diabetic. I also have not had any issues with my Acid Reflux since surgery. Everything is much easier to do already! I felt like I was losing weight slowly. Maybe it was because I had a 3 week stall but, I'm averaging more than 4 lbs. a week loss even with that! That's not too shabby! It's true what they say. You can lose inches without losing weight! I have lost over 4 feet of inches from all over my body! I cannot wait to see what the future brings! Now that food is not controlling my life, I feel this can be done and I can actually go all the way! The surgery was not easy but the surgery has made it do-able for me! What goes up, Must come down! Ha,Ha! Finally!
  18. I had my surgery on Feb. 2. I still struggle to get in as many fluids and Protein they want me to get in. I had a really hard time for the first 4-5 weeks. Then all of a sudden, I felt better. I had more energy, I went back to work and I could finally lay down flat without pain. I am averaging about 600-800 calories a day, 40 oz. of fluids and I'm getting about 60 oz. of protein. I'm supposed to be getting about 100 oz. of protein which seems like a lot but, according to the Bod Pod that is what I need to maintain my muscle mass. That is very hard to reach! I don't over do it on working out. I walk 2 miles, 3-4 times a week and sometimes do the bike. I do great with my Vitamins. I lost a lot my first week and it's been slow and steady since although I hit a stall for almost 3 weeks. I even went up a pound or two in there somewhere. I'm sure it was because I wasn't eating/drinking enough. I'm down 40 total and 33 since surgery. That's almost 4 lbs. a week loss even though most of it was the first week and I had a 3 week stall. Pretty Awesome I feel! If you ever need to chat, let me know! Hang in there! It does get better!
  19. Ok, so, I'm 6 weeks today. I was prepared for the dreaded 3 week stall, so when I didn't lose week in week 3, I was ok. then it went on...and on... Now, 6 weeks out and I've only lost weight in the first 2 weeks post op. I lost 16 pounds in those two weeks, but COME ON! My clothes are looser, however what's going on? I know our bodies freak out because we're in starvation mode, but it's got to let go of some of this sooner or later! I'm following all the rules: Water, Protein, eat slowly, protein first, low carbs etc. Also, I walk every day. Has anyone gone through this and any good suggestions? Thanks!

    Scale Hasn't Budged!

I'm at the 3 week stall right now myself but I'm not letting the scale get me down. I HAVE noticed a visible difference and clothes are a little looser so I'm continuing with my pureed diet. I get over 60 gr of Protein a day and very little sugar but I think carbs are a little high plus I know I should be drinking even more Water. I'm also walking at least a mile a day (for an old couch potato like me this is a MAJOR accomplishment!). So I'm going to read that forum about stalls that was suggested and keep on keepin' on!! Oh, and I think I'd better get that stool softener....nuff said!! Thanks for all the advice.
  21. Great news @Puddles. I remember eating a lot of cream of wheat during that phase. Soon it will all be a distant memory. Even though you can eat anything you will still be looking for something other than chicken or fish. I may start laying eggs soon. Next step is not getting discouraged when the dreaded 3 week stall hits. Just about everyone stalls somewhere between week 2 and 4. It seems like it lasts forever but just keep to the plan and the weight will start coming off again.

    Feb 23 Sleevers!

Welcome Falecha! Glad you posted. You are actually doing quite well (weight wise). Many of us have lost less than that since surgery. I'm only 22 lbs down (but, I'm trying not to complain...because I never lost 22 lbs in a month in the past). Hopefully your Drs. appointment will put your mind at ease. I always write my questions down, so I don't get nervous ad forget....just a suggestion. I think we have to just keep trying to get Protein and Water goals in, and it will come off. At least, that seems to be the norm. Also, as they said on the other thread...the 3 weeks stall is VERY common. So, we shouldn't worry. Thanks for ur advice I appreciate it maybe I'm reading too much into it r maybe I want the weight to just drop off but it doesn't work that way. I'll let everyone know how my doctors appointment went tomorrow. Believe me...I know the feeling! I too want the weight to be gone faster. I think it's pretty normal....especially when you've been through so much (surgery, and all that comes with it). But, priase God it's coming off at all! Before surgery my weight was just climbing up and up...for the umpteenth time. Keep us posted on the Doc apt. Tomorrow. Night Sent from my LG-H811 using the BariatricPal App Dr. Simpson said I was doing great!! And I go back May 25 the for my 3 month follow up and he said I need to add more protein to my diet. Falecha
