    Nsv On The Plane Today......

Oh I am so happy for you!!! This is the NSV that is high on my list.. Most of the time I can't buckle the seatbelt.. I fly almost every week!! Can't wait to be on the losers bench!! 13 days to go!!!
  2. A picture is worth a thousand words and that picture speaks volumes. Congrats to you! I can't wait to have the same nsv one day.

    The NEW "I'm Fat"

Northernsun That's a fantastic NSV. The body dysmorphia that allowed us to get obese does a number on our heads during the slide down to normal too. What more can a person do, other than trust the image in the mirror and the words of people we love? Poeple are shocked when I tell them I only looked at my face in the mirror. Good to know there's a group of us out there.

    The NEW "I'm Fat"

You know one of the best things about this forum is on matter how you feel about somethng, there is always someone and usuallu many someones, that feel the same way and understand what we are feeling. I alsoi never looked in mirrors if I could help it. I hated trying on clothes at store because of the evil 3 way mirrors! Tended to shop a lot on line or just buy and return if it didn't fit. No matter how many time my DH and DD tell me how good I am doing and how much better I look, I still see in the mirror, fat. There seems to be a short in my brain somewhere that can see the changes and process the sizes I have grown out of but still see me as fat. I am well aware that I have a long way to go yet but I have a hard time seeing where I have been and congratulating myself. I have noticed that I am slowly reaching acceptance for the way I look now and smiling with the NSV that happen along the way. My latest smile- standing in the grocery line and I had to move my cart to the end of the line and I was able to pull it right past me without having to step into the next door cashiers space to do it! Did make me smile!
  5. YAY! I'm 6 weeks post-op today and I can wear my size 16 jeans that I haven't fit into in probably 4-5 years!!! I am so happy with my progress and my doctor said he is impressed also because he was only expecting me to have lost 5-6 pounds from my 2 week check-up, but I lost 11! Some people are losing faster than me, but hey, as long as that scale is going down, I'm okay with any loss! I'm now released from all restrictions and I can go to the gym and start lifting and toning and doing more than just walking nowhere on that dang treadmill! Another NSV for me lately is that I can walk up 2 flights of stairs and not get winded! Before I would try to walk up 2 flights at once and be huffing and puffing and feeling like an elephant was standing on my chest, not to mention my knees and legs hurting and feeling like spaghetti. Y'all have a great weekend! My family and I are all going fishing on Sunday so hopefully we'll catch something other than a sunburn!

    Friday NSV roll call!

My NSV for this week continues to be that I can do SO MUCH MORE than I could at my highest weight. I'm down several sizes, I can shop in "regular" stores, and I cross my legs every day!

    Poll: What is your goal?

My 2nd time around I started at a HW of 242 at my revision consult. Which was actually heavier than my first wls back in 2010. SW was 226 on 8/8/17. My program never asked me to set a specific goal. If I went by the BMI chart, I should be 142. I had exactly 100lbs of excess weight to lose. My personal goal would be to get to 150. Just at the top of normal on the BMI chart for my height. As of this morning, I have 9lbs to go. My first NSV that really stood out was being able to wear riding boots that weren’t wide calf. Now I can cross my legs easily and even double cross my legs. Also, I tried on jeans on Sunday and was able to put on a size 8 without issue.

    Poll: What is your goal?

I am 5’6 and I think my goal is 150 - which is about the top of my weight range for BMI . Greatest NSV so far is crossing legs comfortably and not having to scooooch up my pants waist to sit down - to cover stomach comfortably in pants [emoji849] HW 242, SW 236- (Bypass 12/20/17) GW#1- 199 [emoji736] (2/11/18) GW#2- 180 [emoji736] (4/2/18) GW#3- 160 CW 175 5’6”

Thanks Michelle....I did have a NSV when I went to Vegas....The airplane ride....need I say more? I sat across from someone that had to get a belt extension and it made me grateful for my 20lbs lost. That 20 gone let me squeeze my wide butt into a seat!

I don't really want to get into details, but at least you might understand why I haven't been around much...accountability. I did have a NSV this week. I measured my waist for new work pants about a week ago and the tape said 38.5, so I thought 38 size mens pants would work...they were too big! I am now in a 36. They are slightly snug, but actually surprisingly comfortable considering I thought they'd be too tight! One more size and I'll be even with DH. LOL I SO look forward to being smaller than him.

    NSV!

LB's, You made me cry today!!!! .............I haven't really had any feelings about the surgery since I started the process of being banded, but today they showed back up. Reading your victories made me rejoice with happiness for all of us. I finally saw my FIRST NSV. Today, I had a pair of previous pair of tight pants from last summer on and they fell down to my ankles. YIPPEE!! Catch me if you can. Congrats. Everyone, Up twist

    Hi everyone! Update for everyone!

yayyyy! u & me 67 lbs gone forever. size 14 it is sooooo goooooooood !! Now the hair loss thing. Yup, mine started at 4 months out. I am still loosing some at the 6 month mark, don't know when it will stop. Maybe at 9 months? I don't miss it as I have so darn much of it. My hair is actually more managable now. ( is that an nsv?) anyway you are doing super, keep at it and just come post once in awhile. That is what I am doing. lol
  14. First off, let me say that I have been depressed for the last week, due to the fact that my mother passed away last Tuesday. She was my best friend and biggest supporter. She was thrilled and excited for me when I had my surgery on February 10th. Every time I would weigh myself over at her house, she would grin and tell me how proud she was of me. So today when I weighed myself, it was bittersweet when I looked over at her chair and no one was there. I lost 8 more pounds since last Thursday, for a grand total of 62 pounds since surgery. I know my momma is proud of me, and watching my progress from Heaven now, but it hurts so much. I'm surprised that I lost the 8 pounds. I am on my period and retaining some Water. My ankles are a little swollen. Also, in my depression, I have eaten a few things that I shouldn't. I ate a few potato chips. Not many, but a few. Also, at my uncle's house after the funeral, I ate a small piece of cake. I am mostly staying on track, but there are a few things that have called to me. My dad, brother, bf, and I all went to Golden Corral the day after the funeral and I ate my mom's favorites from the buffet. I ate some mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, popcorn shrimp, in addition to the pot roast and roasted chicken that I had. I only had a couple bites of each thing, but I wanted to eat her favorites. For dessert, I had a little carrot cake and a bite of bread pudding. Her absolute faves. On a happier note, I have had a few NSV's. A friend that I hadn't seen in a while saw me in Walmart and when I went up to him said "Huh, that was you. I saw you from behind a few minutes ago and wondered if it was you, but thought it couldn't be because you were too skinny." LOL. He told me how good I look and gave me hug and said congrats. Also, when shopping for pants for the funeral, I fit into two sizes smaller than the last time I shopped for pants! My dad had a hip replacement almost 2 weeks ago, and while he was in the hospital, I walked about five miles over the course of three days. Not bad for a girl who didn't used to be able to walk 80 feet without resting and being in incredible pain. All in all, things are going good for me weight wise. I'm not going to let this depression over my mom get me too far off track. I haven't had a fill yet, and don't feel like I need one.
  15. At almost 7 weeks I finally hit my 3 week stall! Am I concerned about it? Nope! Because I know that it's normal and temporary and that this is my body's way of catching up with my almost 40lb loss! So while the scale may not be moving, my pants are starting to REALLY sag. That sounds like a kick-ass NSV to me!

    My First NSV!!!

Congratulations!!!! On your NSV! I can't wait to cross my legs again!

    ???????????? Fustration????????????

My doc said that when working out , it's during those plateau periods that your body is trading fat for muscle. You're building muscle which weighs more and losing the fat so it can seem as if your weight is not moving, but you'll be losing inches elsewhere. Try that (tracking your inches) and see what you get. Also, the demon scale doesn't control everything. Look at how your clothes fit, your energy levels, all the little NSVs that your body has for you.

    A New Nsv!!!!!!

AWESOME!!!!!!!!! That is great. The small things are sometimes the biggest things. I am glad someone else had to ask what NSV meant, I had no clue. Thanks Greg I won't tell!!!! Kathy
  19. Please don't be discouraged. I know it isn't easy when you don't see the progress on the scale. It can be very frustrating!! I have found that my body goes through adaptation periods especially to something new. It's been 5 weeks and your body has gotten used to what you are doing. You need to confuse it to get it going again. Have you tried different cardio to change it up? Different muscle groups? I have had stalls and when I see that the scale is hanging up, I know its time to change it up a bit. I have numerous different cardio that I do, cross country walking, biking, Zumba, treadmill, Kinect with numerous DVD workouts, numerous exercise DVD's, Hatha Yoga, swimming, occasionally canoeing, and kayaking (I live by 2 lakes and multiple rivers). I try and switch those up and rotate them often so that my body doesn't get used to the same routine, which keeps my body guessing and get it jump started. I promise that you are still transforming and most likely losing inches!!!! During stalls, focus on how clothes are fitting and also how you are tolerating longer cardio, which feels amazing when you couldn't do something the week before and the next week you can! Celebrate and focus on the NSV's (non scale victories) during stall periods. Significant weight gain doesn't happen overnight and neither does significant weight loss, although wouldn't that be awesome because it would make our journey's so much easier right? One stepping stone at a time, 1 pound at a time. Don't worry, it will happen and you are just beginning!!! Keep going you are doing great!!!

    2 weeks

I start pre-op liquid diet today. This really puts it all into perspective for me. I've made the choice to make a major life change in two weeks, and I know things will never be the same. It's so exciting, yet it's very intimidating. I'm nervous about the surgery, I'm nervous about the changes to the way I approach food (and drink), but I can't wait to get back to the activities of old (being able to really workout; getting back into running; getting back into hiking; fitting into my waders to go fly fishing, etc.). Something tells me this is going to be an emotional rolling-coaster (uh oh, I used the e word; can I even say that word in the forum). I had someone ask me the other day why I'm doing this. She wasn't being nosy or unsupportive, she just wanted to know my reasoning. I told her it was a very easy decision to make when I boiled it down to numbers. How many cokes are worth taking a picure with my family on my son's graduation day? How many beers are worth walking my daughter down the aisle? How many Cookies are worth making it to my 50th wedding anniversary with my wife? When I looked at the decision like that, it's a fairly easy answer. I have to admit that I've been very nervous about the operation itself. I'm 34 and I have a 2 and 1/2 year old son and a 6 week old daughter that mean the world to me, and I know that this is a major surgery. At the same time, if I don't go through with this, I will be shorting them on life, and likely won't live as long as I should. In order to keep my eye on the prize, I've come up with some NSGs (non scale goals; can I just come up with an abbreviation like that, or does it have to be approved first). Here are a few; 1. No longer having to shop online or at specialty stores to buy clothes; 2. Wearing my wedding ring again; 3. Running a mile w/o stopping; 4. Running in my first 5k in 9 years; 5. Being able to coach my son's/daughter's soccer team; 6. Going to Disney World with my family and being able to ride all of the rides; 7. Not having to request a table at every restaurant I go to (i.e. being able to sit in a booth again); 8. Not having to request the extendor when I get on an airplane; 9. Being able to sit in a chair w/ arms and not feel like I'm trapped; 10. Weighing what it says on my drivers license. These are just a few NSGs I have, and along the way I'm sure I'll have many more NSVs thay I'm not even thinking about right now. I'm ready to start this journey; I'm ready to start living again. I'm ready to live a life not shackled by fad diets and fast food. I want to thank everyone on this forum, because without it, I'm not sure I would have made this decision. It's scary, but I know I'm doing the right thing.

    A New Nsv!!!!!!

hehe, Greg- There's too many of those things huh? PB, NSV etc etc...I had to look them all up or ask too. NSV means Non scale Victory. Something that happened because of weight loss that doesn't have to do with numbers.
  23. coops

    What is WRONG WITH ME???

. The little victories, my clothes getting too big, having more energy, my knee stopped hurting and the best thing of all, today my 12 yr old daughter and I bought the same outfit, just a sweatshirt and jogging bottoms, she's using hers for a trip to the lakes on monday and I'm using mine for the gym! I thought that she would be embarrased but she actually insisted that we bought the exact same outfit, colour, brand everthing, identical! I haven't felt this good in a long long time! Chilo... that is amazing, I bet you do feel great, as I know I would too... my daughter is 12 too but not sure she would go for this idea (yet)...lol I love NSV like these!!

    NSV

My whole life is a NSV. From the most mundane things like lifting my legs to shave them in the shower to the most vital such as moving and without pain and without looking at the rest of my life being in a wheelchair. If I tried to list them all out, this post would go on forever.
