The last month has been a pretty long plateau and I've been getting down on myself about the scale not moving. Today I reminded myself that it isn't always the scale that tells the picture. I did a little shopping and not only was I able to shop in the Misses department, but I bought a dress I would never have touched before. Completely out of my comfort zone, or so I thought. Couldn't wait to get home to try it on for the boyfriend. Big success. Can't wait to wear it. I feel a nice evening out in my future. I find that I enjoy shopping now, trying on clothes and pushing my own boundaries. I have painted toes, that I can see, and feel more feminine than ever before. I don't know if it makes sense, but instead of trying to 'blend in' and not be noticed, I want to say "look at me here I am". Looking forward to the next stage in my journey. I will reach goal that is a promise I've made to myself that I don't plan to break.

Funny Weight Loss Moment!

mis 73, i hope you dont think that im trying to "one up" you with a funny story, but i had a funny nsv too recently. Im 53 yrs old, ive been banded 8 weeks ( Dec 13th), down from 225 to 208. im 5'3 and have always carried my weight fairly well, a co worker said "theres no way you're 225 !" but i was...... anyway .... i dress nicely and think i look good for being at 208 lbs. and have been getting lots of compliments. recently my hubby and his male co-worker came through my workplace and hubby introduced us. after they left the co-worker said to my husband " i hope you dont take this the wrong way, but when you told me in december that your wife was having lap band surgery, i pictured a bowling ball on legs ! ! she looks great !!" i got a huge laugh out of that one , and im still laughing. God bless that guy !!! -
great nsv's ! happy for you !

Today was able to wear the most adorable corduroy leggings that I haven't been able to wear for over a year!!! & I was able to walk around freely without being afraid of starting a fire between my thighs!!! ( corduroy friction on a big gal can be disastrous for those of u that don't know)

I got up this morning and got dressed for my job interview today. WHAT A MESS! None, and I mean NONE of my clothes fit me - some were too small (granted I was expecting that) but the ones I JUST BOUGHT were too big. And not tuck here or pin there too big - TOO FREAKING BIG. I had to run to Kohls and buy new clothes because I had NOTHING to wear! I put on a pair of pants that, I was going to wear to Mexico for surgery less than 3 weeks ago and they were just too tight - not comfortable at all. Today, they're too big. I mean TOO BIG! Like awkwardly too big! I'm so excited about this! I wonder if i still have the receipt....

If you're serving as an inspiration for others to improve their health and their life - I say be proud of it, and encourage and support others any way you can. If you can help others, that's a big NSV in my book. If they're successful, I guarantee you they won't care how you did it. If they're not successful, then maybe you would consider letting a few extra people in on your secret, and can inspire them to take the next step - but that's totally up to you!

3 Days Post Op And Not Sure How To Feel?
galpizza replied to galpizza's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, liquids kept you full for 10 days?! I feel like they don't keep me full now! Does full feel the same as it did before? I mean, the liquids take away my starving feeling, but I don't feel full at all. Hmm, I may just turn to tuna too! Thanks for replying! Can't wait for a little nsv!! -
3 Days Post Op And Not Sure How To Feel?
pink dahlia replied to galpizza's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
im only 8 weeks out but i still feel the port under my skin, to the left of my belly button about the size of a quarter. liquids kept me full for the 1st 10 days or so, then my appetite started to return big time. i dont reccomend this , but i was so sick of liquids by then i mushed up some canned tuna with a little lite mayo and ate it . Heaven ! check with your dr if you are worried. better to know for sure than to worry about something . hope all goes well for you . im down 17 lbs total, feel great and getting compliments too. wait until you get your 1st nsv (non scale victory ) ,like when your pants start falling off and you have to get new ones ! youll be so glad you did this ! woo hoo ! -
I will start out by saying my starting weight was 330 I am currently 263. I have bilateral knee replacements. One at the age of 47 the other at 51. Yesterday I walked 1 mile without stopping. I know for some this is not a big deal but I have not been able to walk an uninterrupted mile in about 8 years. Then to boot I was not to sore in the morning I could actually get out of bed!

This always makes me nervous when I fly. I've never had to purchase 2 seats and I've always flown Delta or US Air. I go through a ritual of selecting seats. Some have more leg room. The last time I flew was in August to Los Angeles from NC. My sister and I were traveling together, so we left our shared armrest up to give me more room (she's an average size and doesn't have to worry). But I've flown with strangers and not had a problem with the armrest down. Just wasn't as comfortable. I have always needed a seatbelt extender. I can't WAIT for that NSV!

Put on my calf-high boots today for the first time in FOREVER! I feel like a kid in a candy store - everything fits! On a more health related note, excercising feels a million times easier. I am actually back to enjoying running and sweating again! My attitude towards food has totally changed as well. I still like it, but I am quite indifferent as to my portions and what I can eat, where as before I wouldn't be able to top thinking about putting that last bite into my already full belly! This is how I always wanted to eat, and how was meant to be. I am so excited for everyone scheduled for and considering this surgery! Best thing I have ever done.

December 2011 Sleevers Update
Itsanewdaycassandra replied to ChunkyAndFluffy75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 years ago I brought a pair of GAP Long & Lean jeans in size 20 without trying them on because I hated trying on stuff and going to the fitting room, I was so disappointed when I got home and I couldn’t get them ½ up. This was a turning point for me; this is when I started thinking of WLS. Today 10 weeks post op I am wearing them to work. I am so happy for this NSV! DOS 12/1/12 287 CW 2/10/12 249 Down 38lbs -
JustDoIt130 - Thanks for the tips for NSV's! I'm going to have to put that in my notebook that I started! Everyone is doing so great, it's so awesome to see how well you all are doing! : )

Man, my family brought chocolate covered strawberries and different assorted cheesecakes! It's hard but it's not impossible. I can open the tray, smell it- the sugar, fake chocolate and preservatives- and close it and eat a slice of turkey deli and feel fine. NSV!!!!!!! Happy Vday!

I actually got a little notebook that I am writing down all the things that I want as NSV (non-scale victores)- as an example fit into the booth easily at Red Robin don't have to have a seatbelt extender etc, and as they happen I'm going to check them off!!! And I put scale victories in there too, LOL. second half of the little notebook is where I chart my weekly weight I "keep," no matter what it is, up or down, on Wednesday morning These are some good ones to add to my list!!!
