  1. Wow, liquids kept you full for 10 days?! I feel like they don't keep me full now! Does full feel the same as it did before? I mean, the liquids take away my starving feeling, but I don't feel full at all. Hmm, I may just turn to tuna too! Thanks for replying! Can't wait for a little nsv!!
  2. im only 8 weeks out but i still feel the port under my skin, to the left of my belly button about the size of a quarter. liquids kept me full for the 1st 10 days or so, then my appetite started to return big time. i dont reccomend this , but i was so sick of liquids by then i mushed up some canned tuna with a little lite mayo and ate it . Heaven ! check with your dr if you are worried. better to know for sure than to worry about something . hope all goes well for you . im down 17 lbs total, feel great and getting compliments too. wait until you get your 1st nsv (non scale victory ) ,like when your pants start falling off and you have to get new ones ! youll be so glad you did this ! woo hoo !

    New Nsv

I will start out by saying my starting weight was 330 I am currently 263. I have bilateral knee replacements. One at the age of 47 the other at 51. Yesterday I walked 1 mile without stopping. I know for some this is not a big deal but I have not been able to walk an uninterrupted mile in about 8 years. Then to boot I was not to sore in the morning I could actually get out of bed!

    Where Are You 200+Er's?

This always makes me nervous when I fly. I've never had to purchase 2 seats and I've always flown Delta or US Air. I go through a ritual of selecting seats. Some have more leg room. The last time I flew was in August to Los Angeles from NC. My sister and I were traveling together, so we left our shared armrest up to give me more room (she's an average size and doesn't have to worry). But I've flown with strangers and not had a problem with the armrest down. Just wasn't as comfortable. I have always needed a seatbelt extender. I can't WAIT for that NSV!
  5. Put on my calf-high boots today for the first time in FOREVER! I feel like a kid in a candy store - everything fits! On a more health related note, excercising feels a million times easier. I am actually back to enjoying running and sweating again! My attitude towards food has totally changed as well. I still like it, but I am quite indifferent as to my portions and what I can eat, where as before I wouldn't be able to top thinking about putting that last bite into my already full belly! This is how I always wanted to eat, and how was meant to be. I am so excited for everyone scheduled for and considering this surgery! Best thing I have ever done.

    December 2011 Sleevers Update

3 years ago I brought a pair of GAP Long & Lean jeans in size 20 without trying them on because I hated trying on stuff and going to the fitting room, I was so disappointed when I got home and I couldn’t get them ½ up. This was a turning point for me; this is when I started thinking of WLS. Today 10 weeks post op I am wearing them to work. I am so happy for this NSV! DOS 12/1/12 287 CW 2/10/12 249 Down 38lbs

  12. Man, my family brought chocolate covered strawberries and different assorted cheesecakes! It's hard but it's not impossible. I can open the tray, smell it- the sugar, fake chocolate and preservatives- and close it and eat a slice of turkey deli and feel fine. NSV!!!!!!! Happy Vday!

    I'm Sick And Tired Of...

I actually got a little notebook that I am writing down all the things that I want as NSV (non-scale victores)- as an example fit into the booth easily at Red Robin don't have to have a seatbelt extender etc, and as they happen I'm going to check them off!!! And I put scale victories in there too, LOL. second half of the little notebook is where I chart my weekly weight I "keep," no matter what it is, up or down, on Wednesday morning These are some good ones to add to my list!!!

    Happy Valentine's Day

Man, my family brought chocolate covered strawberries and different assorted cheesecakes! It's hard but it's not impossible. I can open the tray, smell it- the sugar, fake chocolate and preservatives- and close it and eat a slice of turkey deli and feel fine. NSV!!!!!!! Oh yeah! Before the sleeve ALL of that food would have been "missing" around 11 am. I'm just saying. OH and it's my favorite cousin's birthday who I love like the sister I always wanted Happy Valentine's Day   :grouphug:
  16. I had my first real NSV today. It only took 47 pounds. Haha! I went to the salon to have my hair done today, I have been going to this salon for years. When I was checking out the 2 Receptionist kept telling me how great I was looking. They sure had me feeling good ! Then they were having a free T-shirt giveaway. So when they asked what size I wanted, I asked what the fit was like, the receptionist held up a medium and said this would fit you. I said no, I didn't think so, but thank you !! I haven't worn a medium anything in YEARS. I can't even really remember ever wearing a medium. She insisted that it would, so I took it and said well if it doesn't now it will soon enough. What a great feeling !! It does fit although it is a little too snug for my taste, I don't think it looks great. But soon it will !!!

I love love love your NSV! Congrats!!!!
  18. I can't tell you how important it is for you to keep a personal journal of your thoughts and feelings during this life changing process. Before I had surgery I wrote a journal entry nearly every day. I haven't read those entries until today. What a difference a year made in my life. The struggles I had a year ago are not even in the picture now. I wish I had been more diligent in journaling since I had my surgery because the NSV's that I have had are amazing. I was totally unaware of the extent of the NSV's that I would experience. I have kept of daily record of my weights tho and even that is astounding. Again, I want to express how important it is to journal.

  20. Want to wish everyone a great valentine's day, if you don't have a valentine, I'll be yours, I have love to give to everyone! I wasn't going to write today, because I didn't really have anything to write about. Then the caffeine hit me and I had a total NSV!!!! So, in case you didn't know I'm going to Key West in oh let me check my calender....39 days. Usually, all I can think about for a vacation is what I'm going to eat, what the food is like, etc. Not so much this time!!! First I decided in March I'm going to try the couch to 5k program (if anyone wants to be my buddy for this let me know!). I'm also going to start working on weight training for my upper body since my dad and I will be going out deep sea fishing while in Key West. Gotta get jacked to reel in the big one (I hope I do!!!). So then instead of thinking of food, I was thinking about "how am I going to work out on vacation" well my parents must have read my mind because my mom sent me an e-mail asking if they wanted to pack my bike in their RV (they are driving from New York state to Key West in their RV, I'm flying). UM, YEAH ABSOLUTELY! The RV resort where we are staying is at Mile Marker 15 on the Keys, so I'm thinking that in the am, I can ride my bike to at least Mile Marker 10 and back, maybe more, who knows. Can you even ride a bicycle on US 1? If anyone knows let me know thank you. So I have to consider this a NSV when I'm usually thinking about "oh what restaurants are we going to go to" or "what am I going to cook while we're on vacation" I'm more concerned about how I'm going to work out. So proud of my self ::hugs:: Have a great day!

    Sept 2011 bandsters

Wanted to share my recent nsv with my September buddies. Last week I went shopping for blue jeans, 5 months ago my jeans were a 22 and tight on me. The ones I got last week are size 16! Woohoo, I can't remember the last time I wore a size 16. I wish I was losing a bit faster, but I'm happy with my loss so far. Hope everyone else is doing good. I'm looking forward to spring and getting out on my bike!

    Nsv--While In Jamaica!

You got to love those NSV! “YahMon” Way to go, keep rocking that sleeve!
  23. Awww, so happy for you and so jealous!! I wanna go to Jamaica!! Especially right now with cold weather and snow flurries in Alabama of all places!! Sounds like you had a great time, and wow at all the NSV's!! That's incredible!
  24. I WORE A SWIMSUIT WHILE IN JAMAICA LAST WEEK!! Although I didn't go buy a new suit, I was finally able to wear the one I saved from like 10 years ago. Still cute as ever and still in style! It's open in the back so I wasn't able to wear it while I had the two rolls of fat around my middle. But now those rolls are gone and I actually have a shape so it looked cute. I didn't even care about my flabby thighs. They aren't THAT bad. Plus I was in Jamaica to have fun, soak up the sun and finally get my honeymoon. On a side note, my hubby and I married 1 1/2 yrs ago and something kept coming up to delay our honeymoon. Perhaps my "higher power" wanted me to go after I had lost some weight and could REALLY enjoy spending all day in a swimsuit? LOL! I didn't take many pics, I guess I'm used to not getting my picture taken and didn't really notice. That has to change though. Other NSV moments were: 1. My bum fit nicely in the airplane seat and the seatbelt had strap left over! 2. I didn't mind snorkeling bum side up....not self conscious about it at all. 3. I wore two cute sun dresses and felt like a girly-girl....FINALLY! 4. The life jackets fit without a problem when we went on a sail boat ride. I love my sleeve!

    NSV shout outs

I have had a big NSV day... I am on the United Way board and we were doing site visits. The people on my panel didn't know me heavy and didn't now my situation at all. They don't know that two years ago I was in pulmonary rehab and couldn't walk more than 100 ft. Today, I walked myself all over the Y, a huge homeless shelter with a Soup kitchen and transitional dorms, a developmental daycare, and finally an adult daycare PLUS vocational campus. When we finished at the adult daycare, the tour guide wanted to take us to see what the United Way funds paid for the prior year - a walking track of about 1/3 miles in the woods that's paved so wheelchairs can go. We walked about halfway to the lookout and then back to the facility up a huge hill. OK, huge to me but still...a hill. Anyway, I didn't sit down except when we were in conference rooms and everyone else sat. I stood or walked for most of the almost four hours I was on these visits and without this surgery, I never would have been able to do it. I sent an email to my program director thanking her for this. Really, I feel like I'm slowly getting my life back.
