Very few calories.. Stalled weight loss, and the not full feeling
eoconnell24 replied to Lisa1996's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am going through the exact same thing... Had surgery 5/10, lost 20lbs from pre op day of 5/2 until about 5/21 and then started slowing, almost to a stop and I was CONVINCED that the surgery didn't work. Like my dr didn't really change anything, just made incisions, let me lay there for a few hours then sewed me back up and told my family I was done! So... #1 I stopped weighing myself every day. I'll weigh once a week and that's about it bc I don't think it's mentally healthy to start obsessing over that number on the scale this early in the game. #2 As everyone's said, it's completely normal to stall week 3-4. And it makes sense. Not only are we healing but most of us go from 2,000+ calories/day to maybe 500-600. So it's a very drastic change that our bodies are trying to deal with and wonder if it's the new norm. Not to mention it's hard to fuel our heavier bodies with such a drastic cut in calories... #3 I'm trying to focus on the small NSVs I've had, for instance the disappearance of my second chin lol We just have to stay positive and trust the process because clearly, it DOES work! Weird but I noticed today there's less of my legs to shave...that counts as an NSV, right? LOL

Had a great week, down 2#'s the most I've had in a single week in a long time! Yeah! NSV - For the first time in 25 years of being together, I weigh less than my husband! (OK, so it is only a 1/2 pound, but it is less.)

So I just decided to walk 2 miles. I'm in Florida and the weather is beautiful! As I'm walking my pants are falling down. So I reached for the drawstring in the front and WTHeck? no drawstring. So I felt around the back and realized I had my pants on backwards. No wonder the landscaping guys were looking at me funny huh. Well I see it as a NSV. What do you think?

Laura - that's wonderful! Gosh - I don't think I've EVER been a size 10! I shared this NSV in another thread with my February 2008 friends, but it was so encouraging, I'm gonna share it here. Last November, I had to fly to Dallas, and on the plane, the belt was so tight, my tummy hung over the top and I had to cover it with my magazie so the flight attendent wouldn't make me wear a belt extender in front of my work friends! Yikes! I was so embarassed it was one of the reasons I decided to take the LB plunge. Anyway, I flew to DC last week, and the belt was actually loose - with about 4 inches of slack! And my butt didn't make the arm rest pop up in between me and my seat mate. I loved every minute of the flight.

Oh how l would love to have a goal of being able to walk or run without knee pain. I don't know if that is possible with my knees, but I'm hoping it is. I also like what joatsaint said about "The reward is in the doing and reaching the goal.". I think that is basically how I think also, but I love hearing about other people's goals. I do have some non scale victory (NSV) goals. If I were ever to reach my goal weight, I'd love to take my kids to Disney World and walk everywhere without having to stop for a "knee break". I'd love to fit in all the roller coaster rides. I'd love to fit in a swimsuit without struggling to get it on, or thinking that this particular suit must be made for someone short-waisted, since it appears that the bust is somewhere around my waist...can't stand that! I also watch the scale and feel great when I lose 10 pounds. Every 10 pounds is a victory, and is a reward in and of itself.

Congratulations! Nsv are so important to acknowledge & be proud of!!

Walking up a hill was a huge nsv for me. And i didn't realize i did it until my boyfriend bought it up after we walked up it. He said "you just walked up hill and didn't complain once. You are usually throwing a fit before we even get to it." But truth be told i didn't even notice. I wasn't even winded. It's a beautiful feeling isn't it? lol Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

It means non-scale victory.. for example 1 of my nsv was being able to cross my legs again! Take the time to appreciate those things

This is one of my future NSV's. Yay you! That's awesome! -
Terrible photo with the iPad but look at the seatbelt! That is the excess once I pulled it in. Presurgery I was struggling to do it up and on the border of asking for an extension belt. Today, I got to tighten it. And LOOK!

LOL! Definitely an NSV. I had a similar experience with my pants coming down in spin class! It freaks me out how this happens but you are so right! When we assume a stall or small loss means it's not working we are so wrong!!! I think it's the opposite: this is working so well, we are changing so quickly, we cannot absorb the changes and we are shocked when our clothes fall off of us LOL!!! Congratulations!!!! Happy shriking! :-) -
Woot! Woot! Congrats! All of the c25k and weight loss is showing in ways more than just numbers going down on the scale. Awesome NSV! Sent from my iPhone using VST

This past week made 4 months since my vertical sleeve gastrectomy.... Sometimes I can't believe it's real. As of 2 days ago, I am 75 lbs down since my surgery weight. And I feel FANTASTIC! This is absolutely the best thing I've ever done for myself. PS: Are y'all still getting the error messages for blogs / gallery??. I'm just dying to update! LOL I have pics of what I've been eating as well as some NSV pics that I can't wait to share.

I can totally relate to that! I went out to eat awhile back and had to ask for a table because I couldn't fit in the booth. It was so embarrassing! All of the other customers just stared at me and I heard some laugh. I wanted to crawl under that table & disappear! I still have some issues with booths, I'm always afraid I won't fit even though I do now. That is an awesome NSV!!
