I was sleeved December 7th but I'm currently 3 weeks into my pureed stage and i actually like it. I was started a bit earlier than other people for specific reasons. I LOVE pureed eggs lol. They are so yummy and are one of the two foods that got me through the past few weeks. My doctor's plan for pureed stage allowed scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, hummus, refried Beans, and creamy soups. He also gave me the go ahead to eat string cheese, but i bite into it. I do not handle soups well so i stick to what i like. For the person who said they can't do pureed eggs, it's really simple. My mom makes me a soft boiled egg and then she purees it in the blender with a laughing cow wedge and a sprinkle of black pepper. It comes out delicious and i love it. Comes out to 2.1 oz or so (i weigh everything), but i can usually eat only half. I absolutely love the laughing cow cheese, and i think it can be a major helper to anyone's diet. They have like 10 flavors and i'm sure there's something for everyone. My favorites are french onion, light swiss, white cheddar, and spicy pepper jack. All delicious with an egg. You can also mix and match, depending on how your tummy handles certain foods. I sometimes mix my egg with hummus, or salsa, or fava beans, or refried beans with salsa...and so on. I have followed my surgeon's instructions to the letter and have really enjoyed this stage. Much better than liquids for me. And since i've been doing so well, he gave me the green light to start trying soft foods on Wednesday. Tuna, salmon, tilapia, crab meat, and shrimp....can't wait! It's definitely a process, and sometimes it can be frustrating, but if you can find a way to make something you'll like and stick with it, it will go by quickly.

Sleeved 12/27. Pain mild at the big incision but tolerable. I have bad gurgling when I sip fluids or eat Jello, sometimes uncomfortable. I tried yogurt, and vomited, so it's too thick for me yet. I'm not getting enough fluids in and feel discouraged. Applesauce isn't on my list of foods until pureed next week, I'm jealous. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using the BariatricPal App

Pre op liquid diet
ruthkatniss38 replied to ruthkatniss38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! These are very helpful ideas. The vegetables are amazing. (I sautéed tomatoes and spinach with garlic and onion) but I'm not permitted yogurt, etc., alas. I just wish I had more energy! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Pre op liquid diet
Numbergurl37 replied to ruthkatniss38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly u will feel like crap but once you get surgery, the hunger subsides. Like the comment below, sugar free popsicles really do help. Also since you are allowed vegetables try a hidden valley greek yogurt seasoning pack and mix it with plain greek yogurt..it is not the same as ranch but tastes okay. Good luck Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App -
When I first started puréed I stayed with cream Soups, shakes and yogurt, when I started with the meat I started with puréed tuna, added low fat ranch dressing and I only could tolerate 1oz Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Happy New Year from BariatricPal! - December 2016
Alex Brecher posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
style="margin:0;padding:0;background-color:#d8dde8;color:#5a5a5a;font:normal 13px helvetica, arial, sans-serif;position:relative;"> Hey BariatricPal Members! Happy New Year! It’s an exciting time for anyone, and especially for the BariatricPal community. It is a time to think about hopes and dreams for the coming year, and to reflect on how lucky we are to have each other for support. That’s exactly what this newsletter is about, and here is what you will find. A Fresh Start in the New Year Setting Your Path for 2017 Getting Some Help in 2017 We are so grateful for your participation on the BariatricPal Forums, so be sure to login and you can share your tips and ideas with all of the BariatricPal members! Happy New Year! Sincerely, Alex Brecher Founder, BariatricPal A Fresh Start in the New Year Whether or not 2016 went as you had hoped or planned, it’s over. Now, you have the chance to make whatever you want out of 2017. Here are some tips for getting back on track or getting a solid start in the New Year so you can reach your goals. Get Your Kitchen Ready for Weight Loss Be honest, now. What foods have crept into your kitchen since Thanksgiving? Frozen pies and fruit cakes? Some baking mixes and frosting in case you needed to bake a last-minute thank-you gift for someone? Christmas Cookies and fudge from well-wishing friends and relatives? pizza and appetizers from a New Year’s bash? Clean Your Kitchen It is time to clean your kitchen. Get rid of any foods that are tempting you to go off your bariatric surgery diet. Donate them if possible. If not, just throw them away. Quiet that conscience by reminding yourself that the food is better off in the trash can than on your hips, and in neither of those cases are you helping end world hunger. Restock Your Kitchen An empty kitchen is better than one filled with junk food, but it can still get in the way of weight loss. That’s because you are more likely to turn to delivery, take-out, and prepared foods if nothing healthy is on hand. So, restock your kitchen with the basics so you can make healthy meals and Snacks in minutes. Instant shelf-stable Protein Meals from breakfasts to Soups to lunch and dinner Entrees. Pantry goods including canned tuna, salmon, tomatoes, and Beans, nuts, and condiments. Lean Proteins including chicken, fish, tofu, eggs, and yogurt. Fresh vegetables and fruits for snacking, cooking, and salads. Protein snacks including Protein Bars, Protein shakes, and crunchy snacks such as chips and pretzels. You can find plenty of protein choices at The BariatricPal Store, and new customers can use coupon code BPNEWSLETTER10 for a 10% discount of your first order! Delivery from The BariatricPal Store is one kind of delivery that does fit into your WLS diet! Make Those Phone Calls It’s time to do all those things you were too busy to do during the holiday season. To move forward on your weight loss surgery journey, you may need to: Phone your surgeon to schedule a consultation or your surgery. Sign up for a bariatric surgery informational seminar. Find a weight loss surgery support group for pre-op or post-op. Schedule personal training at the gym. Whatever your to-do list includes, it’s time to get to it! You will feel better and be closer to achieving your goals for 2017. Solidify Your Support System You can’t go it alone, so do not even try. Instead, take another look at your support system and see if you can fill in any cracks to make it even stronger. You might want to find an exercise buddy; vow to keep tabs on a coworker who is losing weight in exchange for her doing the same for you; or have another talk with your significant other about which foods you feel comfortable having in the house. Setting Your Path for 2017 We all want basically the same thing for ourselves: control weight and keep it off. It will be easier to get to that goal if you have an idea of which path you will take. Figuring out your path can be a little overwhelming, but here is a little help. Know Your Starting Point Dig deep, because this may take a good amount of soul searching! Your starting point includes knowing your real weight – not an optimistic guess-timate – so hop on that scale. Then consider anything else relevant to your health and weight at this time. For example: Which foods (if any) are still problematic for you. What is holding you back from WLS if you are pre-op. Which health problems or risks you have. Map Your Route Then map your route so you know what you can do to move forwards. You might consider: Getting counseling to deal with emotions in ways other than eating. Setting a date to get back on track with your WLS diet if you got off track recently. Committing (or re-committing) to a workout routine, maybe including milestones such as a hiking trip or 5k walk along the way. Planning the starting date of your pre-op diet to be ready for surgery. You will almost certainly take a few detours along the way. You might even change course entirely. Still, planning your route gives you a path forward. Getting Some Help in 2017 The WLS journey is hard – no question about it. That’s why it’s important to get all the help you can. Here are a few ways to make your journey this year easier. Use Your Resources Think about everything you have heard about support, support groups, and online support groups to make weight loss surgery easier and more effective. Are you taking advantage of them? For example, you can use the BariatricPal forums 24/7 to ask questions and get advice from those who have been there, done that, and those who are going through it at the same time as you. Just hanging out with the community can make you feel more confident and positive about the path you’re on. Make Meals Easier Gourmet cooking gets old fast for most of us. Even without the “gourmet” factor, weight loss surgery menus can take a while to prepare since you need to consider protein and other nutrients and measurements for portion sizes. Meal helpers can relieve the burden in the kitchen and keep your food tasting great. Most grocery stores have all kinds of appetizing time savers, such as pre-cut veggies and pre-washed salads, roast chicken, and frozen pre-formed turkey burger patties. You can also order in, but resist the typical restaurant delivery services. Instead, you are safer with instant low-carb meals and snacks and protein bars and shakes from The BariatricPal Store. They are shelf stable and ready in minutes or immediately, and the selection is varied enough to stave off boredom. I hope you get the help you need and deserve, and that all of your dreams come true in 2017. I look forward to sharing your journey with you. When did you start loving your sleeve?
dominyks_mom replied to tonyagetstiny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I drink Protein shakes I use almond milk. The sleeve made my lactose intolerance way worse! I can't even tolerate Greek yogurt and barely string cheese! I was sleeved 10/21/16. I don't mind the surgery at all. I never ate much to begin with but I realize that I ate more than I am able to now that's for sure! It will get better. Just wish I could figure out how to get fluids down! Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App -
I don't know how Im gonna make it thru the rest of this liquid diet.
Kaylamh replied to Crystal Ann Keister's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I did yogurt pretty often during my liquid phase. Just stir it a lot and eat it slow. I wanted food really badly during that first phase, but when I tried to eat cream soups I just got too full and it wasn't worth it for the lack of protein. It gets better! I promise. -
Eat some FF cottage cheese or yogurt and THEN explore Pinterest. It makes it easier for me to explore and plan recipes if I'm not starving. Lots of WLS recipe posts. Banded 10/12/16

I feel you!!! You are not alone. I was starving myself during the first 2 weeks post op. I was drinking the Protein shakes and as soon as I hit that 15 day mark, I was scrambling an egg for Breakfast. The meal plan I received stated I should egg whites but I refuse to throw away good food. I have a shake for lunch and dinner I pureed a rotisserie chicken from Walmart. I just added chicken broth to the food processor so it wouldn't be so dry. I have tried the mashed potato flakes which was great with the purred chicken. When I feel hungry after all that I grab a yogurt or a Jello cup. It curbs the hunger monster for a bit. Hope this helps.

Finally... Hunger Hits at Week 7 Post Op!
Ssze1109 replied to mylighthouse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Raw almonds, cheese, cottage cheese with unsweetened applesauce, sugar free pudding with GENEPRO Protein, olives, plain yogurt smoothie with fruit , and sugar free Popsicles are what kills cravings for me But I am also only 6 weeks so I haven't moved onto raw veggies yet. I am still in the exploratory phase like you. Still looking for ideas for meals Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
@@QueenBx girl I want Chipotles. But I have to admit that I'm liking mushy. I'm in Texas and there must be like 4 bbq spots not far from me and I like to get the smoked chicken thigh (no sauce), it's tender and gets mushy easily, plus the flavor is amazing. But I can only eat about half before I get full. Are you expermenting with your food? I was bored at first b/c all I ate was yogurt, cottage cheese, Soup and canned tuna. I just odered me a pressure cooker, I'm going to try to make my own healthy version of soft mushy Protein and veggies. Are you getting your Water? I'm still having trouble! Any ideas please share.

Finally... Hunger Hits at Week 7 Post Op!
mylighthouse posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone I am just coming into my 7th week post op, and I can say that I am REALLY hungry for the first time since surgery. I am noticing that after a couple hours of eating Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I am truly hungry for a snack. Whereas before, I only ate to get those calories in. I think this will really help up my calories from about 600 a day to over 700 a day, which might actually boost my metabolism a bit. During the past 7 weeks, there have been 3 weeks in which I didn't lose any weight at all. I know that happens to everyone, but I also think that the scale stopped in part due to such a low calorie intake. So far, my go to Snacks in between meals have been plain nonfat greek yogurt with fresh blueberries, string cheese, and cottage cheese with pineapple tidbits. I am coming off of the Protein shakes a little bit and actually getting in real food, which I think is good and where I need to be at this point. I would like to ask others what are some of their favorite snacks? Please share! Thanks! -
This does not seem like normal loss!
Monesty replied to Monesty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can I ask what kind of food did you incorporated into your diet to up your fat intake? I have my "go tos" but would love to have more options? avocado, mayonnaise, olive oil, sometimes heavy cream or butter. I use full fat yogurt, 2% milk cottage cheese and 1% milk. Keep in mind that you started off at a weight that is close to some people's "goal weight" and that you've lost 5% of your total weight. Yes I'm keeping that in mind..however I should have mentioned that I am 4' 11". According to my Dr a healthy weight would range between 98 and 140ish. I'm should also say that I am just fine with losing slow as long as I know I'm not doing anything to sabotage my opportunity. -

I read your post and it does seem like you need more fat in your diet. You can increase your Protein without worrying about calories even double it as long as you restrict carbohydrates. I mix my tuna with regular mayo, zero carbs. Check the lable, does zero fat yogurt higher in carbs that natural 2% yogurt? How about the Apple sauce? Carbs can really creep up on you and stall your progress, even if you are eating fewer calories. Try increasing your exercise to 30 minutes every 2nd day and focusing on eating protein and eliminating anything with more that a few grams of carbs and see if it makes a difference. -
My Sleeve Journey (sleeved 12/28)
bleonhardt replied to MamaRhea's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Recovery is slow I have to say. But first week I was unable to even keep Water down so I think I am a bit behind. They put a stent in my stomach to untwist it and I have surgery Jan 10th to remove it! I have lost 41 lbs since the surgery. I can tolerate all liquids but have zero hunger now so food is tough to get down. I can tolerate yogurt, applesauce, pudding but not much beyond that yet! How are you doing? If you private message me I would love to share my contact details if you want a friend in the area that is going through the same thing! My name is Brandee but can not figure out how to add my picture! Lol Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -
I didn't know u have to puree your chicken. I am on week 2 so my dr has me on Applesauce, yogurt, and cottage cheese. Of course chicken is still ways to go but i thought i could just eat a little piece of chicken and chew well. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

Thank you for all the replies. I do need to up the exercise. I've been getting on my elliptical for about 10 min a day but I can/should do more. Here is what my daily meal plan looks like. 7:30ish-Triple Zero yogurt OR steel cut oatmeal (plain, 120 calories, 3 grms of sugar) with a scoop of P2B in it (I can only eat about half of it). Some days I do two eggs instead. 9:30ish-Premier Protien shake 11:30ish- Tuna packet and apple sauce OR protien of some sort (for example 2 chix wings or some turkey bacon). 3:30ish- 1/2 a cup low fat cottage cheese OR cheese and a few pieces of turkey bacon. Sometimes I may substitute this with a few Harvest Snaps 5 or 6:00- Some sort of protien like fish, chix, or ground turkey and a veggie. Last night I had half of a stuffed green pepper (I substituted rice with cauliflower rice). I sip Water all day but I'll admit I'm only taking in about 26 oz. I'm working on it. Open to any suggestions and again..thank you! -
I have stalled.... This week I only lost [.2 ] lbs. I even started a new workout regiment....I think its bc Im not getting enough calories. I re-started an online food journal (fitness pal) and according to it, in the last week i haven't gone above 400 calories this past week. Im trying....but the point of getting sleeved is to CUT food consumption.....right? My mind is trying to wrap itself around how im supposed to eat MORE to LOOSE weight... pureed food looks like puke. Protein shakes taste like ass & they make me wanna puke. Imma greek yogurt-it more this week &see what happens. I will be glad when I can eat food ya chew. I'll KNOW what to eat then! Veggies & whole foods that DON'T taste like ass & look like puke! Ha! #thisSOMEstr8BSyo

Lactose intolerance after sleeve?
Domika03 replied to gg2016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
chicken or beef broths. My husband made chicken & beef soups (with the meat in them) before surgery & froze them. He strained some of the liquid from each so I'd have a flavorful meal. This way, the rest of the family can eat with the Protein & I could get the liquids down. For what it's worth, I'm almost 3 yrs out post sleeve & my lactose intolerance has actually gotten worse. It's a daily struggle because I love yogurt & cheese!
