    Going out to eat...

Salad is one of last food my nutritionist says we should eat. I never order from regular menu anymore. At least at this stage which is 8 weeks out. I order from appetizers or sides. My dinners cost $10-$20. If really want to try something usually friends eating out with offer taste if it’s something I can eat.
  2. I also had my revision from lapband to sleeve on October 9th . Band was put in place in April of 2012 and removed July 31, 2019. Sleeved on Oct 9, 2019. I love my sleeve. None of the procedures was particularly painful. I expected the sleeve to be more painful but it really wasn't. I think the worst of the three was having the lap band removed, at the incision site where the band came out.

  6. So, I am not exactly sure where to start so I guess I will just go with the beginning: I was sleeved on 2/15/16 starting weight at 243 by 10/1/16 I had lost 98.8 lbs weighing in at 144.2lbs. 10/10/16, I found out I was pregnant. I had a textbook pregnancy, perfect strong baby boy was born on 6/13/17. I had only gained 30 lbs during my pregnancy. (Please I beat myself up enough, my son was not planned, I was told I wouldn’t be able to have kids but by the grace of God he is here) jump to today. I have gained a total of 55 lbs and hovering at 200. I’ve found myself eating more. And not sure what to do.. I also moved to a different state. Anyway, obviously I failed. I’m not sure how to get back on the right foot. Do I go see a general doctor? Should I just get to a Bariatric specialist? For those who had a revision, how did you go about figuring that out? I’m hoping I don’t have to get one, and I can work on this. But I want to do it the right way. Positive feed back please and thank you!!!

    🍂 Nov 2019 Challenge🍂

Day 29: I am grateful that we are able to pay all our bills and not have credit card or other debt. We do occasionally use a 6 month no interest thing on big purchases (most recently 10 tires) because I hate paying interest. Well I have really enjoyed this challenge even though I have failed miserably. Weight this morning was 212.4 and I only went alcohol free on 3 days. I did stay within my 4 ounce limit with only a few deviations though. I am just too weak....

    post VSG CO2 gas pain

In a word, yes. You will get the gas pains. They gave me chewable GasX in the hospital, which probably cost my insurance company 10 dollars, but at that point I did not care.
  9. Hi everyone, My VSG is scheduled for 12/10/19. I had a laparoscopic surgery in the past and still remember the pain the CO2 gas they pump into your abdomen caused. Did anyone out there experience this with their VSG surgery? Thanks for your replies! Jan

Not so easy to make friends here...

I'm very new here but would love to make some friends here. I followed you. My VSG is scheduled for 12/10/2019 and I'm nervous. Doing my best to educate myself fully about my new life. This forum will hopefully give me actual insights into the process. My current plan is to do exactly what my doctor and dieticians tell me to do. I really like to hear about other VSGers experiences. Drop me a line if you want. Jan
  11. Day of surgery 5/3/18, a biopsy was done of my liver and it was perfectly normal. No problems. Last year, 6 months post op, I had an abdominal ultrasound and was told I had gallbladder sludge, no mention of fatty liver. 18 months out, another abdominal ultrasound and I got a copy of the results. It shows a fatty liver, unchanged from 1 year ago and GB sludge. The doctor didn't even mention the liver damage to me and when I asked about it was told not to worry, it happens with WLS. I've researched and I've seen it can happen to people who lose a lot of pounds fast. I lost 55 pounds first 7 months (10 of it pre op). since then another 12, for a total of 67 pounds. This just isn't making sense to me. How could I have a normal liver on surgery day, after enjoying whatever foods I liked for years, and now that I'm eating MUCH better, have liver disease??? It's not that I never have fat or sugar (had some yesterday, but not a lot), but if I eat even 1/10th of what I used to, that would shock me. Like a have a bite of something, maybe two bites. Even that's once or twice a month. Does anyone have any ideas about how this happened and what I can do about it? I'd really appreciate hearing from the community on this as my doctor doesn't want to address this. I don't drink ANY alcohol. Thank You, Lisa

    november sleeve

I have, yay! Today I am 11 days post op and 10 pounds under my surgery weight. When the scale started moving, I was so happy to finally be in the weight loss honeymoon. I will try to be equally patient when I hit the week 3 stall [emoji23] . Anyway I feel like everything I worked so hard for in the pre- op and operation experience has arrived! 15. Hi there Frosty, So I had mine done on Nov 11th. I was supposed to have three things done. 1.) Shrinking of the pouch, 2.) Tightening the hole at the bottom of the pouch, 3.) The long limb bypass to something around 200-250cm of common channel. In the end, my surgeon did not change the pouch at all. He said it was an appropriate size and that the restriction I want would come from tightening the hole at the bottom. I've JUST started eating real food again, so far the restriction is there but it's not the same as when I first had my surgery 10 years ago. I'm also being very careful not to push it, eating primarily mush still so nothing hard or crunchy yet so I'm not sure I'm really feeling it. I also thing my insides are kind of still working themselves out so I'm not really going to be able to say too much just yet but I will say that some of the horror stories I've heard about the frequency of needing to use the bathroom seem to be over exaggerated considerably. Next week I move to the advanced diet so I may have more to say then and I'll keep updating. On another forum, I was quite put off on the distal or long limb but so far it's been quite good.

    RNY to SIPS/SADI

Hi, I am going to have this surgery come 12/4/19. I am nervous and excited. I had no problem getting approval as this is now a standard of care for bariatric surgeons, I'll let you know how it goes.
  17. I've managed great on my liquids and protein, I'm up to almost 80oz liquids per day and close to 60g protein. I've tried creamed soups (always strained), gelatin, Gatorade Zero, the only dairy I've tried comes in the Premiere protein shakes. We're invited to some friends today for Thanksgiving who know I've had DS surgery. I'm curious how well I might manage some extra-super-blended and strained foods today. I'm only day 10 so I'm not going to push it, but I'm really close to my week 3 pureed stage. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

New to this page. Had sleeve done 11/15/19

I still feel like I'm gonna die. I haven't had a BM in 15 days.. have you had one yet? Oh and you say you eat eggs? Gurrrrrl... what??? I take 3 sips of water or protein drinks and here comes the contraction spasms. How are you cooking your eggs? I can't even do jello. I kind of want to try something today. My husband is at the store looking for baby food for me lol. Ridiculous. I can't leave my recliner or heating pad today. Totally wasn't expecting this kind of pain. I thought it was like 3 days. Now my doctor is like naw.. 2-3 months. Good thing is I lost 20lbs bad thing is.. PAIN! I'm eating pain killers like they're candy at this point. This acid reflux is real. Spitting up gross bile that stays and burns. My main pains are under my rib cage and now my back. Pain killers help and only thing that gets me up but I need to chill on them because I'm down to my last 10 and doc cuts people off. That's another thing doctors don't tell you. They send you home with 30 pain killers.. no refills! I'm glad I hoarded pain killers from my knee situation or I'd be in serious pain. The weirdest thing of all is I'm 2 weeks out and I am still not hungry. I did have a dream about pizza though lol. I'm just not interested in food. I just told my husband to eat an apple pie for me. My body is rejecting any sugar.. even honey in hot tea so I'm definitely in ketosis and probably since I'm already this far will not ever do sugar again. Looking forward and omg I'm SO happy and grateful that I found this support group. I needed friends.. support something BAD! Thank you!!!! ~Sunshine

    Going out to eat...

I eat out quite frequently as that was always my lifestyle. Just approach it entirely different now. Been going out since 5 weeks out. Greek is easy & go often. Initially had side of hummus. Other times soft gyro meat with tzaziki & a bit of tomato & cucumber with no skin. I always order from appetizer menu or sides & can always find something. My spending @ restaurants now is crazy. Where I used to spend on average $25-$40 now spend under $10! At Italian got side meatballs. Sports bar cup of chili. Sashimi @ sushi. Ma Po Tofu or Eggplant with some protein in garlic sauce @ Chinese. When in doubt I google if ok. Never feel cheated out that can eat & enjoy with friends. Besides it’s not just about the food. It’s also the company & possible ambiance of restaurant. Good luck!

    Partner/ spouse support

Oh no I'm sorry, it is a time full of major changes! My relationship has gotten better (I"M 10 mos out) but He goes to all support meetings and participated and tries to really learn. Tell him that you don't want this to hurt your relationship and that you would like him to come with you, and learn about what people go through, and how things change. Tell him you want to change and grow with him by your side.

New to this page. Had sleeve done 11/15/19

Hiya doll. I had mine done 14 days ago 11/13/19 and I STILL feel the same way. It's pretty bad. I also stayed at hospital longer. My husband and family was very against this surgery so I don't have much support but what doesn't kill me makes me stronger, right? It took me a YEAR to push the surgery through my insurance. So I was in my doctors program for a full year before surgery was done. I thought I knew it all! I watched all the YouTube journeys of happy go lucky people.. no pain.. feeling great and HEY.. look follow my makeup tutorials, lol. Realized most those people were fake on YouTube. Anyway... I get what the doctors call spasms.. so aka contractions.. and I'm still on ice chips and protein drinks. Girl... I've had 4 children and this surgery pain is 100% hella worse than childbirth IMO. I didn't realize how much pain comes with the surgery. I realize now I wasn't prepared and didn't know it all. My doctor told me I'll feel like crud for 2 months truthfully. Stay in touch and we'll get through this together. I need some kind of support. I wish there were physical support groups in my area but oddly there's not so here I am. My name is Sunshine & I live in Tempe, Arizona.. currently. Glad I found this group because I sure can use some support.

  24. Great topic! I was 391 in March 2019 when I was nearing the end of my preoperative testing. My unofficial high was 410 lbs. Down to 368 and 4 days away from surgery on Monday, Dec 2nd!
  25. Good morning everyone, Somehow I missed this forum when I first joined. I posted in the pre-surgery Q & A and felt like a loner, but I included the post on my profile too. I am scheduled for a gastric sleeve revision on December 2, 2019. Someone asked why I did not choose to a have a bypass the second time and the reason is that I have a form of anemia that make the bypass too dangerous to manage. The irony is not only was my last surgery December 3, 2013, I am at the exact pre-surgery weight I was back then. I had quick early success and dropped 80 pounds in the first three months. That was both scary and exciting and I had this fairy tale belief that I could eat very small amount of my favorite foods and still be successful. Not to mention, I was drinking tequila probably every other Friday night. I do not have those misconceptions and gave up most of my vices - coffee with splenda is the last vestige to go...as a sheepishly sip my last cup. My weight crept up drastically between 2015-2016 as I battled depression and suicide attempts, not specifically because of my weight. In 2017, I started thinking about having surgery again, but it would be another year before I was even emotionally stable enough to have a real conversation about it. I knew in 2017 I would not get back on that table until I was ready to change my life, not just my weight. I languished a bit in the last couple of months after finishing my preoperative testing. I still had not made my an appointment for my final surgery review and scheduling a date. Although I am more spiritual than religious, I asked God to give me a sign of what the right was for me. Well, my answer came when I fell out of the shower (can't believe I said hospital before) and had no choice but to struggle to get off the floor. My knees hurt terribly when I finally got to them and in that moment I thought 'I am 46 and there is no reason I should not be able to get off the floor.' I made it up off the floor, went to the ER to make sure I did not have any new broken bones, and scheduled my appointment the next day. When I finally had a surgery date three weeks ago, I felt empowered and excited for the first time. I have traveled down this road before and I know the hard work begins after Monday. I have stumbled a bit this week, but I am ready. Mya
