    Dizziness and sweating after food!

I was told that VGS don't get dumping syndrome but I had a bit too much of a sugary thing and I was miserable for an hour. Nauseas, feel like I can't move, something feels really wrong, I have to lie down. Then it goes away. It's happened 3 times since my 10/10/16 surgery.

    Elliptical Anyone??

well, i moved up from 5 min to 10 min last night- i set the machine on the cardio burn for first 5 min, then set it on normal mode after that- hope to move up to 15 soon.
  3. Although it feels like it will never come soon enough you will eventually pass through this! I think it lasted almost the whole first week with me (I was banded 6/28/10) I’m six weeks out now and still burp funny! It’s kind of like a hiccup and then burp…I’ve gotten used to it! I wish you lots of luck!!

    Elliptical Anyone??

What's great about intense machines is that you do get a very good workout in a short period of time! I burn 100 calories in 10 minutes on the rowing machine....but I'd have to walk 35 minutes to burn the same amount! I'm all about getting out of the gym ASAP!! And I am only able to do about 10 mins on the rower before I poop out, too! But I started out doing 4 minutes 3 weeks ago...so I'm already making progress. You'd hate the treadmill eventually, too! You made a very good choice. Just be patient with yourself.
  5. I was sleeved on February 19 and there are a few foods that I have issues with one is pork chops and another is french fries. Everyone is different. My tastes have changed somewhat. My wife gets frustrated at me because she does not know what to cook any more. It is not because I can not eat those foods, but some things just do not sound good to me in my head. I have had some pasta and tolerated that fine. I have had rice in a small portion and had no issues.
  6. Hi All, I was banded on 09/30/10 and feeling like my progress is going no where. I just had my first fill on 11/01/10 which was 1cc and I still feel hungry. I have only lost 22 pounds since my pre surgery diet which started on 09/26/10. I need help!!!! I'm sure I'm not getting enough protein and I am getting bored with the same protein filled foods I have been eating. Any suggestions on meal ideas are appreciated and needed.

    Sleever Teachers

Hi, I work as a Para Professional in the NYC Public School System. I'm 8 weeks post op and down 40 lbs. I thought it was going to be difficult as well. I use Mio flavoring in my 30 oz water bottle and sip it throughout the day. No problem whatsoever. After experiencing slight dehydration , you're going to find that you go out of your way to drink as much as you can. As for eating I pack a bag every nigh before I go to sleep. I alternate my snacks. For breakfast I have an egg or a yogurt or a protein shake. Around 10:30 I'll have some almonds or pretzel chips with Hummus or a Sargento snack pack. It's a little difficult at first but first but it gets alot easier as you go along. Best of luck on your journey !!!!

    The Inner Fat Kid

There was this chinese restaurant in Boulder Co that had some kind of special where if you bring in 8 or more people, order this house special, they would start bringing out platters of food. Each platter was different. They would keep bringing different platters out until we didn't finish one. Then the party was over. I just recall eating from 7-10 different platters plus a mound of rice and Soup. OMG, it was so good but I remember going home and could hardly breath. And I was thin at that time. Probably close to my goal weight now. Oh, the good ole days. tmf
  9. I'm so surprised - for the last 2 days I've actually felt hungry. I've gotten headaches from feeling like I need to eat. Protein shakes aren't cutting it. And after last week of feeling no hunger, I'm freaked out about feeling hungry. I'm only 10 days post op. I thought hunger was curbed with RNY?! Can I possibly be some freak exception?!? If I did this to myself, only to be the same as I was before, I'll lose my mind!
  10. Just need to give myself a little boost here. I know you all will understand. First, let me say that I hate exercise. I will find ANY excuse, even scrubbing a toilet, to not exercies. See, I used to be a competitive powerlifter and my demon-coach made me work out 4-5 hours a day 6 days a week and since I gave that up, I can't stand it. WELL, after my pre-op class, I was determined to try. I can hardly do anything because I get out of breath and my knees and feet hurt but I am doing it!! I did 10 minutes on the treadmill followed immediately by 10 minutes on the bike. And not only did I do it once, I have done it daily for 3 days now. I just feel so good and for those of you who have read my other threads about my husband, you will understand my need for validation that I am doing something good!! thanks for listening!!:ohmy::thumbup::smile2:

    Water Intake

Me too- I had a lot of trouble the first few weeks and now I am at week 8 post-op. I am with you on that we would get a warning signal from our stomachs, I would think. And its not like we can take gulps after gulps- I usually have to wait 5-10 minutes before I can gulp again.
  12. As far as goals, I have set a few and went on right by them....I remember the ONLY and BIGGEST wish I could ever ask for was to get below 200 lbs...that in itself was but a dream....if not just a fantasy.... Turns out that was nothing in the big picture.... I am fortunate to be able to have a "Full Body Analysis" done at my gym, for the cost of $15....among everything it tells me, I am particularly interested that out of my total weight, what % of it is actually fat...as opposed to bone mass, muscle mass, and Water weight.... BMI's are not accurate by no means....an individual can be 20-30 lbs over weight, but have a very low body fat %...just look at athletes like football players.... According to BMI, I am still 10 lbs over weight,,,but I have a very low body fat %...if I was to loose any more weight, it would not be fat...THEN that would be unhealthy, if not dangerous.... But that is why I am sure to get all my daily Protein....and all the water I can drink So I continued to loose until I bottomed out...but the entire time I was able to see it was my body fat that was going down...if anything, my muscle mass increased due to all the exercising I was doing along with the protein.... My weight loss stopped when by body fat bottomed out. And I have more energy and better health now than I ever have....

    Seeing the shrink

That is (pun intended) insane! I can't believe they made you do all that - though obviously you had a good outcome. Mine was 10 minutes, and about 5 generic questions checked off a list.
  16. Thank you! I've spent the last 10 years of my life fighting them, FINALLY just decided to embrace it and go with it
  17. I'm 10 months out lost 55 lbs. I can't eat bread, rice and pasta. I try it all the time but up it comes. Sometimes I can get a teaspoon of rice in. A half dollar size of bread (whole wheat). Pasta's no way....

    Approved! :)

Hi all, my name is Lisa. I had the Lap-Band in Monterrey MX in 2003 and had success. I initially lost 100 lbs, but I have gained back 40 of it. I still consider it a success since I have kept 60 pounds off for over 10 years. Last year I started throwing up in the middle of the night, as well as throwing up at every meal. I thought that was just how it was going to be - my insurance didn't cover my surgery and I have tried to get follow up appointments with other doctors in town. Most of them wouldn't touch me without an outrageous "takeover fee." One doc wanted $5K up front before I stepped foot in the office! I finally went to my PCP in April and they set me up with a bariatric doc - since I was having an issue, insurance approved it (I have Sierra Health). Doc said the band was slipped and I also have a hiatial hernia and suggested revision to a gastric sleeve. Well - today my surgery was approved - in 48 hours! Lap band removal, repair of hernia, and revision to sleeve. My surgery date is August 5. FYI - my insurance just changed July 1st. I was told by them that because of Obamacare (PLEASE no political comments!!), that complications because of prior weight loss surgery, whether it was initially covered or performed in the country or not, HAS to be treated as any other illness and all I have to pay is the deductibles as for any other surgery. Yay! So, for those of you who have previously been denied or have not been covered in the past, it might be worth looking into. I was told that the changes went to effect on July 1. Not sure if it effects first time surgery or not, but worth researching!
  23. I was banded 12/19/05 and everything went well with recovery. I had my first fill 1/24/06 which started with 2cc and had to have .5 cc removed twice that day. Here is my problem I am unable to eat in the AM so I drink the Atkins Protein shake. I can usually get solid foods down in mid afternoon and "usually" have no problem eating ANYTHING in the evening which is bad for me because I am eating everything I get my hands on because of not being able to eat most of the day...and then going to bed on all that junky food is horrible. I'm not loosing either but am really not eating that much...just junk too late. If I try to eat in the AM I have severe PAIN like I can't breath after 1 bit of eggs...I also get that feeling in the pm if I eat protein like hamburger or dryer chicken. Is pain like that normal? My doc says I need to chew better but I AM chewing that bite of eggs and still get sick to the point of sliming like I have read people mentioning after just 1 bite. I'm really upset because I feel that I am not eating as healthy as I did b4 the surgery and the pain I feel scares me that something might be wrong....ANY comments are GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!
  24. I ran across this video which has a pair of pants with Velcro in the waistband that can get you through a few sizes: https://youtu.be/oTxDpaYeuEw Starting at minute 7:19. I was wondering if any of you sew and can share pattern numbers that have worked best for you as you have lost weight?

    Starting The Process

Hi Christina! Good luck with your journey. I'm just starting out as well, attended the seminar two weeks ago. May I ask how come you are expected to lose 10% of your body weight before surgery? Is this an insurance requirement?
