  1. I am doing well too! I came home on Saturday and day 3 and 4 were definitely turning points in recovery. Still sore at the port area and feeling gas pains under my shoulder for the first time today so hoping that goes away soon. I was so hungry yesterday so today, I tried some yogurt and a cream soup and boy do I feel so much better. I really needed that. Hope everyone else is doing well!

  2. Anya,

Glad to hear that you are doing good! I returned to work today.. I am EXHAUSTED. I am going home and going straight to bed I think. I am still feeling weak/funny with the whole sugar thing. It will take some time I figure out I think. I went out to lunch today with my co-workers. I had a bowl of potato soup and a baked potato (brought back 3/4 of each!). Called the nurses today too.. they said to follow the paperwork and that they were going to have to talk to Dr. Hitchcock about his food stage info! HaHa. SO next week I am on to soft-solids and meats(or whatever I can handle). I am excited. So your husband won't return until next January? OMG. He will be so happy to see you! He probably won't recognize you! My boyfriend wasn't so supportive. His ex had gastric and left him 4 months later. So he thinks Im going to get skinny and leave him. He'll get over it though! How much have you lost so far from the pre-op? Do you plan on going back to work next Monday?

  3. Oh my goodness...that would scare me to death. I have been pbing a bit lately. In the last two years I have only done it about 6 times but I did it twice in the last week..kinda weird. I hope that nothing is wrong. So...you still think that it's twisted? I wonder how that happened.

I'm fighting a pretty bad cold right now and I hope that it goes away pretty quickly. I have to get it checked out because I think I have a sinus infection or something and I know that you can't have any surgery when you're sick.

Well...I hope that you are doing well and that you don't have any major problems with your tube. Let me know how things are going.

  4. Ok i dont know why its up there 3 times!!.. Hmmm

and thats not all of them!!

  5. I have not been banded yet. I have my 2nd out of three supervised WL appointments next week. If all goes wel iI hope to be banded sometime in June.

  6. Hey Band_Groupie, how's it going? Just thought I'd check in with you. It's been about a week and a half since my surgery and I'm down about 15 lbs. Wish it could keep coming off that fast but I know it won't. I started walking Saturday and have managed to walk every day so far. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

  7. Hey girl, just thought I'd check in with you to see how it's going. It's been about a week and a half for me and I'm down about 15 lbs. I know I won't keep losing at this rate but as long as I'm losing that's ok with me. I've started walking for the past three days so hopefully that will help too! Good Luck!

  8. omg you cheated!! lol, bad girl! i didnt cheat at all...so its been exactly 3 weeks since any kind of solid food in my stomach....and i have gotten used to it! weird huh? I had surgery on thursday and it gone okay. I have some horrible bruising....but it will be worth it. Very sore and uncomfortable but not in a lot of pain. btw, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  10. Hi Lou,

Yep, at the avenue too. Like you, I'm obsessed with the site and checking out all the before and afters, hoping that I'll be one of them too. Will be starting the shakes on Thursday (2 per day) until 2 weeks before it is time to go in and then I'll move to 3 per day. Haven't started the walking yet but am parking my car further away from my office. Will start the nightly ritual of getting a walk in each evening on Thursday too. Keep in touch.

  11. Continued -

They just don't make enough room for me to talk! ha ha!

Actually, I tore a stitch doing something really stupid. I was on the couch watching TV and I jumped up to go to the bathroom (my husband and I sometimes race to the bathroom during commerical breaks). When I jumped up and began to run, I felt a terrible pain and stopped in my tracks (yes, I realize how dumb this was!). After that, the pain was getting worse every time I sat down, stood up, got in bed, or hardly even moved. I went to the doc and sure enough, tore a stitch. I have been taking it easy since (no more racing!) and feel really good. I am walking for exercise, but not too brisk just yet. I was told to wait 3 weeks for healing! Yes, it's hard sitting still! But I feel great now and am ready to get going!!! Take care and talk to you soon!! **HUGS**

  12. Hi Sommer! You are doing so good girl! 23 lbs.!!! WHOO HOO!! I am down 17 lbs. as of last week (I weight on Wednesdays only), otherwise I get scale obsession! LOL! So, you got your first fill already! Your doctor must fill every 4-6 weeks. Mine is strictly every 6 weeks. I was told I probably had about 2 cc at the time of surgery. I definitely have some restriction now without my fill, but I am still able to eat about 1/2 as much as used to. I can't wait until my fill and more restriction, as I am excited to start losing more weight! Summer is coming and I am excited about that! I found a whole pile of shorts ranging from size 16 to 12! So, I should be covered this summer with clothes! So, you are only eating 2 meals a day? Is that because you are not hungry or is that all you can get down? I have heard that some people get more restriction around their time of the month...

  13. Hi PharmaGirl

Sure am - are you at the Avenue too?

scarrrrryyyyy . . . . . But as I look on this site - every day mind you, obsessed by the before and afters, I am feeling more and more confident. Would be great to keep in contact since we are both doing it around the same time - and place - not in the States.

Good luck with starting Optifast - I am doing it for 2 meals at the moment, but will get more strict on myself next week. I am walking walking walking though - 2 hours total today.

  14. Hi Xgrl. You are 1 day ahead of me (getting banded on 3/25). This is just the beginning ---- here we gooooooooooooooooooo !

  15. Being a foodie I cant stand the taste of the Isopure or most of the drinks. I actually can eat beef tendon ( yeah gross ) but I can get it at a Vietmanese restaraunt here and it goes down great and each portion has like 36g of protien for 3 ozs and only 150 calories which just rocks for me. I will look into that stuff that you reccomended. Once I hit 30 things just changed with my body and even though I am glad that I am losing fast the moment I hit 240 ( my sweet spot for weight ) I plan on hitting the gym to work out at the same time to keep myself nice and toned. Congrats once again ..

  16. Hey Patti,

My fill was done on Wednesday and until today, I just knew that I was going to have to go back to the doctor. I am more optimistic today. I drank some hot tea this morning for breakfast and by lunch time was able to eat grilled trout and a mashed potatoes. I don't know how to eat correctly...I tend to eat too fast and now chew well enough. Anyway, I am going to give it until Wednesday, which will be one week. I am trying to drink as much water to stay hydrated as I can. I am overweight so I don't think there is any danger in starving myself.

Please let me know what your doctors says. I am so...desperate to lose weight; however, I don't want to risk my health!

I hope things get better. Please stay in touch because this journey is tough especially when you're alone.

    Take care:)

  17. Gabi I am from Texas, about 100 miles west of Dallas, I believe it does take a lot of courage on our parts to do this, I believe we are just taking a stand and saying no more of this diet, binge, up and down weight world, we are having a final say on it all. I feel little bad when I hear of some not doing so good, I have made myself get outside 2-3 times a day and walk 10-15 minutes to try and build up my strength and stamina, have to go back to work Monday which will be 6 days post-op, very sedentary job though! Prayers go up, answers come down! God Bless You and your family! Nancy

  18. Hey GitsMardi,

How are things going for you?

I have 4 days until surgery and I will be so glad to get something more than clear liquids. I have been doing my clear liquid pre Op diet for the past 18 days. It was tough but I survived without cheating even once. I am packed and ready for the hospital, actually looking forward to the 2 week recovery time I took off work. Keep in touch, Lighterload

  19. Rachel,

I'm so addicted to this website. I have been logging on several times a day for 3 months. Pre-op is going fine but I do get hungry. I wish I could have more fiber. Today I got really hungry around 3pm. I knew if I ate dinner early I would have a hard time the rest of the night. Jello just doesn't go very far. So I had 3. I think it's going to be a long weekend.

Wow I'm glad food is coming back so fast post-op. I bought a Magic Bullet type blender to prepare. I just want some more choices.

I'm one of the lucky ones. I have duel insurance. I have no out of pocket costs. How about you?

    Anya

  20. Hi, how did your day go today, more comfortable?? I am still having trouble with the soft foods, liquids are a bit better, but still have to sip super slow. I thought it would be better today, I filled on Monday, but maybe I should of call the doc. Weight is about the same, first 1 1/2 day weight of 3 lbs to almost 5 has csme off, but not more from day 3. I am not hungry, but I am getting thirsty, but have to be so careful. I hope you are not the same place I am at, suffering, if you are,.... what are you going to do? wait? Any advice appreciated. good luck

    Patti

  21. i can tell you are looking different. your face looks so skinner. I had to get a fill today, hadden had one in awhie and i havent fet any restriction for awhile. I GAINED 6 LBS THIS MONTH!!! My first big gain in 8 months. I'm not really upset about it because I know I have been doing wrong this last two or so weeks. So back to working hard again. I guess just doing yard work isnt workout out. any good advise?

  22. Good luck with your surgery! I am on 3/23 - I am getting excited! I can't wait to start watching the scales move! Keep in touch!

  23. Well Its March and I've lost 65 lbs since surgery. I go to the gym 3 times a week .Got off all anxiety pills sleep good at night.

  24. well you have done SO great so far, really. everyone experiences what you are right now as im sure youve read on the board. i did too! i think i told you about that a little in response to one of your posts. i had my first fill 4 weeks and started eating what i would say are the "right" portions for me at my second fill, but im glad i eased into it. its so weird now, when i think about it, that no one really notices how little i am eating compared to the amount i used to eat! but yeah 5 weeks in i was definitely worried, I think one night i had like 5 tacos or something. old habits die hard. couldnt imagine eating even a full one now! i dont even crave a lot of those bad foods anymore, i guess my body is used to it.

    good luck with your fill!

  25. hi ,glad your doing good!I'm so excited i have lost 16 pds in 5 weeks. I'm going in for anther fill thursday.I finally feel like i can do this!
