  1. Hi Happy! I have 4.5cc's in my 10cc band now. How about you? how many cc's do you have? I got my 2nd fill just this last Monday and have done OK the last 3 days I have not been feeling hungry till around 2 or 3pm today I had a yogurt for breakfast, a iceopure for a snack, about 4 oz of turkey meatloaf for lunch a stick of 60cal cheese for a snack and then for dinner I had chicken & cottage cheese. How are your food days? What are you eating? My problem is STILL night...candy still just slides on down!

November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)

Soexcited - I'm totally with you! I only had to do one week of pre op and lost 9 pounds. Since surgery (2 weeks tomorrow) I have only lost 6. Well 6 one day. 4 the next. I have been going up and down 1-2 pounds for past week. I realize I have added mushies, but I am still eating under 900 calories a day and exercising.... so I'm not sure why I'm not losing. This is my typical day: 8 AM: Protein shake (160 cal, 15 gr protein) 11AM: 1/4 cup canned chicken w sprinkle shredded cheese or 1/4 cup chili (120 cal, 10-15 gr protein) 3PM: Protein Shake (160 cal, 15 gr protein) 6PM: 1/4 chili or 1/4 cup canned salmon (80-120 cal, 8-10 gr protein) 9PM: protein shake (160 cal, 15 gr protein) That's 710 calories and 60-70 gr of protein. I may have a 1/2 cup of oatmeal or yogurt on mornings when the shake doesnt "do it" for me, so maybe an additional 50 calories.... I think I'm going to email the nurtritionist and see what's going on. Maybe I need to UP my calories....

November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)

I had my surgery 11/17. Was on clear liquids Wed. and Thursday, then moved to full liquids, which really helped the little bit of hunger I was starting to feel. I am just taking it kinda slow. There is no way I can eat the 1/2 cup of yogurt or sugar free fat free pudding im allowed! Am already loving this band thing...lol I feel a good amount of restriction. Its probably due to swelling, but hey, ill take restriction any way I can.... Pain wise, im doing well. A little pain when getting up from something low but other wise not bad. Never have had pain in the stomach area, just in the port site. Goin back to work Monday, but I have a desk job for the most part. Got my pedometer ready to walk on my breaks.. MD says work up to 2 miles a day asap! Well... off to get 1/2 cup of decaf coffee..... Everyone have a blessed day!

Kristen's Journey From Pre-Op and Beyond

How is the Whole30 plan going? I've been considering it, but I'm not sure I can give up my daily yogurt and night glass of red.... ????

    Greek Yogurt

Fage 0 is my fav. It's available at my costco. I also liked Kirkland Fatfree Plain Greek Yougurt, but my Costco no longer carries it. My two fav ways to eat greek yogurt: Smoothie: Blend the amount of yogurt you can eat (at 2 months I could do 1/2 cup, now I can do 1 cup), some Splenda, a splash of OJ, 1/4 cup Water, and a couple of frozen berries. Yum! Yogurt parfait: Stir some water into the amount of yogurt you can eat (at 2 months I could do 1/2 cup, now I can do 1 cup) to make it a thinner conistency. Stir in Splenda to taste. Top with Splenda-sweetened berries. I buy the big bag of mixed berries from Costco and defrost 1/2 cup then stir in a couple tablespoons of Splenda. Lynda ("Greek Yogurt helped get me to goal!")

    Greek Yogurt

I am on full liquids and yesterday i dreamed up a Tzatziki-inspired yogurt drink (I'm sick of the sweet stuff). I added a scoop of unflavoured Protein powder to a small pot of Fage 0%, a few mint leaves, a chunk of de-skinned cucumber, a tespoon of garlic paste, squeeze of lemon and a little bit of Water to thin it out. It was 30g of protein and SO good. The flavours completely masked the Protein Powder taste and so it went down a treat- my new go-to drink! Fage is also great with a little splenda sweetener, and vanilla essence.

    Greek Yogurt

I have tried a Chobani and Fage (both baby/kid and adult) several times, several different flavors and they are all nasty. I can't stand the sour after taste. However, yesterday I tried Yopait and it was by far the best. It was very mild. Tasted closer to the regular Yopait yogurt that a Greek style yogurt, but with all the benifits of the protein. I tried the blueberry one. It's is very thick so I think I might add a little milk to thin it out. They make them is two different sizes. I got the smaller one (4 oz cup), which was the perfect size for early sleevers. Contains 8g of protein. The 6 oz container has 12 grams of protein.

    Make Ur Own Jello Protein

Found this and it looked yummy! Ingredients: 1 packet of sugar-free Jello mix (JELL-O) 1 scoop whey Protein 2 tbsp. fat-free or low-fat yogurt 2 cups of Water Note: This recipe is good for 2 servings. Nutritional Facts: (amount per serving) Calories: 100g Total Fat: 0.5g Total Carb: 1.5g Sugar: 0.5g Dietary Fiber: 0g Protein: 16g Steps: Low-Carb Protein Jello Recipe 1) Use a cooking pan and pour 2 cups of water. Turn on the stove afterwards and allow the water to boil. 2) When the water reaches to its boiling point, turn off the stove and pour in the packet of jello. 3) Use a spoon and stir it occasionally. 4) When your jello has completely liquefied from the boiling water, use a Pyrex container or just a pan and pour the water into it. 5) Add 1 scoop of whey protein but before doing it, take two cups of cold water and add whey protein in the shaker bottle then shake it out until the powder dissolves. You can use any flavor whey powder you want like strawberry and vanilla. 6) When the Protein Powder has totally mixed into 2 cups of cold water, dispense it over the jello then use a spoon to mix it altogether. 7) Place it on the refrigerator for approximately 4 hours or wait until it is firm enough just like any other jello. 8) After 4 hours, you’ll have a pleasant and healthy strawberry-vanilla flavored protein jello. 9) Cut the jello into 4 pieces and just take one of those pieces then place it in a bowl. Afterwards, add your favorite fat-free or low-fat yogurt and some banana pieces on top of your yogurt. Again, it depends on your like if you like to have a banana on top of your jello recipe.

    Unflavored Protein Powder

I just got this in an email hope it helps UNJURY Unflavored: the Right Ways to Use Unflavored UNJURY can be added to beverages and many foods. Here are some of the favorite ways to use. First, do not mix UNJURY Unflavored in plain water. In water, you know it’s there. 13. My preop diet was three protien drinks and two yogarts a day for 2 weeks. I was on that same diet for 6 weeks after surgery. That's a total of 8 weeks! I was so excited about working food back into my diet but even at 8 weeks, my stomach doesn't like much so guess what I'm eating? Protein drinks. I developed a painful lactose intolerance but still end up eating yogurt because it's one of the few things that doesn't hurt going down. Hang in there. I was angry that two weeks too. I knew people that didnt' have a preop diet. That made me even more mad!
  14. I started mine week 3, and I'm on it for 5 weeks. I'm just starting week 3 of mushies. So far, ive had scrambled eggs, egg salad, tuna salad, fat free refried pinto & black beans, oatmeal, applesauce, Greek yogurt, peanut butter, laughing cow cheese, ricotta cheese, tomato soup, mushroom soup.....And mixed stuff in with those things. Like a dollup of cheese melted on beans with 2 tsp. of a mild salsa. Mmm!
  15. I started two weeks post op and it wasn't really "mushies" for me...I got to eat the following... eggs cottage cheese yogurt (preferably Greek---YUCK!) mozzarella cheese sticks 3 wheat crackers with hummus, Peanut Butter or light cream cheese) 1/2 whole wheat english muffin or 1/2 sandwich flats Beans high Protein Soups... my favorites though were the mini pizzas (1/2 sandwich flat, small amount of spaghetti sauce and 1 oz shredded mozzarella) and refried beans with 1 tsp of salsa and 1 oz shredded mozzarella) The nutritionist told me to go very slow and chew everything to a mush. It was a relief to start eating!!! I'm on fish now and moving to chicken/turkey on Wednesday!!
  16. I eat maybe 4 ounces of food in a sitting. It takes me 30 min - 1 hour usually. I try and eat 3 times a day high protein (protein shakes, greek yogurt) and then two snacks (like half of a sugar free jello, broth, or popsicle), one between breakfast and lunch, and one between lunch and dinner.
  17. I am on day 4. I am able to get in 1/3 cup of full liquid like cream soup or pudding at a time. I eat for a max of 20 min. and give it up. I can drink a medium sip at a time and drink throughout the day. I am getting 30 ounces of water/crystal lite daily. I actually find it easier to get in full liquids and things that have the consistency of pudding or yogurt than clear liquids. I am trying to increase my intake.
  18. Thank you angied for the recommendation. I am picking up almond milk and greek yogurt tonight - will give it a whirl tomorrow morning!!
  19. I take two Centrum adult complete chewable Multivitamins a day (one when i get up and one before i go to bed) - they are orange flavored ( kind of like the old chewable baby aspirin but much much bigger) I prefer the Bariatric Advantage Calcium chews over the Celebrate ones - the celebrate ones are ok but a little more gritty in texture than the BA ones. The BA strawberry is good and they have a coconut now, the chocolate ones taste a little like a tootsie roll. These also contain Vitamin D so you might not need an additional Vitamin D supplement. My plan recommends getting 1200-1500mg calcium per day. I was taking 3 chews a day but realized I was getting enough calcium from my food (yogurt, skim milk etc) that I could cut back to 2 chews a day. For B12, I take a sublingual 1000mcg every other day. I think the one I have is nature made found in pretty much any pharmacy. My 3 month labs looked great!

    Switching to soft foods

I remember eating a lot of Greek yogurt and hummus. And refried beans.
  21. Dances with Carbs

    Switching to soft foods

Yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken, fish, shrimp, avocado, deli meat, cheese, eggs, and soups. Beef was on the list however, unless its cooked for a long time like in a stew, I cannot get it chewed to the consistency that is required. So I stay away from beef. Chicken and tuna are my go to. Just remember chew, chew, chew.

  23. Hey Want2Be - I posted on your full liquids thread. Basically just started an hour ago. Yogurt! YUM!
  24. I tried 2 oz of tomato Soup with a teaspoon of Greek yogurt (Fage), and I thought I died and went to heaven! It was so nice consuming something other than broth and those detestable Protein shakes. I'm only 8 days out and I wasn't sure if "full liquids" included soup. Either way, the soup didn't give me any trouble. I'm really wanting hot and sour soup now.
