Sizzilng September Sleevers Monday Check In

Howdy September Sleevers!!! Another week... another check in!! I wonder where everyone is? It would be nice to see more posting here. Even if you can only post certain NSV's or just anything - all of it is GOOD and worthy of note!! Hey Julia, no big deal. I only lost one single pound this last week as well. Boy I've been really REALLY on point these last few days and was hoping and hoping for at least another to show up, but nooo... LOL It's ok - I'm 100% back on track now after the Holidays which I won't lie, I'm very glad to FINALLY be past them. I really need to make sure I hit goal before next September rolls around!!! It's always been so hard for me to be good and lose weight, much less maintain during this time of year. So that was me, I lost one pound, which is great!!! But the super good news is I'm back on track and feeling VERY determined. I had some awesome NSV's over this weekend so that one pound loss was added to other things. I'm just *this* close to fitting a pair of pants I haven't fitted in since I was a teenager! WOW!!! I just LOVE MY SLEEEEEVEEEE!!!!!!!! Until next week SS'ers!!!

    Frustrated

i feel your pain. i was banded on may 20th of this year and am stuck between 17-20 pounds. AARRRGGGHH!!! my only conselation is that i've gone from wearing 20's to 16's moslty. so since my goal is a size not a weight that gives me some comfort. i dont understand how my clothing size is changed but the scale isnt. i've had 3 fills and i feel i have good restriction taking about 4-6 hours to be hungry, eating smaller portions and exercising twice a week with a trainer and twice on my own. have you taken your measurements or notice other NSV's?
  4. juliegeraci

I cannot believe I fit in that.

  6. I think traveling healthy is one of the things we all look forward to being able to do post-sleeve, but usually when we picture it, we're already at or near goal, or, at the very least, mostly adjusted to our new ways of life. I'm still pre-op until next Wednesday, but if it were me, I think I'd wait. I know the idea of just getting it over with is appealing, but from what I've read, you're going to be wanting to spend the first few months after surgery just figuring out things at home, not worrying about your new stomach while you travel. I know some people have to travel for work soon after surgery, but that's a necessity and rarely much fun anyway. I don't think you want to see your vacation ruined by a too recent surgery. I think you should just enjoy your summer, have some food funerals if you need them, but also use the time to start working in some lifestyle changes. Then have surgery in September and plan your next vacation for well in advance when you'll be able to enjoy it. That way you can get excited about all the NSVs that will come along with traveling when you're ready!
  7. Spent the weekend with my girlfriend on Long Island and did a little suburban shopping on Saturday. Well I had one heck of a NSV. I tried on some dresses and I looked pretty good in a couple of them and decided to buy them. Got home earlier this evening, put one of the dresses back on and have been staring in the mirror and looking at myself because it's been just so long since I've worn a dress. Oh boy are my co-workers are going to be so surprised when they see me tomorrow...

    Marchies In December

NSV for me!!!! Went shopping @sears for a few new things to wear at Christmas and I am now just an xlarge. Haven't seen that tag on my clothes in a very long time!!!!!!!
  10. Don't get me wrong...my ego hasn't gotten to the Beyonce "Flawless" stage: I'm flawless...I woke up like this, I woke up like this... Not hardly. I'd also like to add that I've never had a big problem with self esteem, even at my heaviest I felt attractive. I've had my band for about 9 1/2 months now and it has been a great journey to say the least. I enjoy the weight loss with this device and I like the fact that I can go off course, gain a few pounds, give it a day or two and be back to normal. Love it! Anyway, while I've been losing, there are times when I feel like I am "bad built", out of proportion and simply without feminine form. Now that my weight as stabilized, my body no longer has to go through the big top, small bottom - normal - small top, big bottom - normal - big top, small bottom...you know the thing that seems to happen about every 5-7lbs. I haven't lost or gained in about two weeks and as a result my shape is truly starting to show and I love it. I looked in the mirror this morning and said to myself "damn...I'm sexy!" I've done that many times before (you have to give yourself pep talks or no one else will) but this time it wasn't forced and seemed to just slip out. I guess because I truly feel sexy, in a way that I don't think ever have before.

    NSV...OUCH!

So we had to return a piece of 4 x 8 sheer of breadboard to Menards today. My husband said lean against this board it was against the side if our enclosed trailer. So I did. The wind caught the board lifted me off the ground and threw me back to the ground. Scraping my hand and my knee. THAT WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED AT ALMOST THREE HUNDRED POUNDS! But at the same time it made me feel good at 5'9 and 139 pounds that the wind blew me away. Lol. So when people tell me the wind will blow you away. I know now it literally can. A big NSV I could have done without.

    Big Nsv For Me!

NSV means non-scale victories. It's important to Celebrate things even when the scale doesn't move, whether its drops in inches, moving down pant sizes, having to move the car seat up closer to the steering wheel, etc. There are several places to get tickers, but most seem to use www.tickerfactory.com. Just go to their website and follow their instructions. Welcome!!

    curb/fall/NSV?

last week i fell at the curb leaving Kohl's i reallllly hurt luckily my ankle moved 'in"/twisted a bit, but all will well!!!! i am hurt and sore all over though so whats my NSV ???? unfortunately i have fallen before in similar situations it always took 2 people - with allll their strength to pull me up its hard to lift 235 lbs of dead weight now it only took 1 person to pull me up guess 130 lbs is much easier to "tug" at hubby came "running" from the parking lot toward me after i was already up after all was said and done, and i we were driving home my DH jokingly said something like "see what happens when you do soooo much shopping at Kohl's?" ********************************************************************* dr wanted me to get x-rays "just in case"........... i remember when i had WLS, and they handed me my gown...........i prayed it was big enough to cover all me what was i thinking??? they ONLY had big sized, cuz of course us big girls were having weight loss surgery this time iwent into the changing room, they had a regular sized gown that "normal" people wear could have been a model showing off how great i looked No NSV is too small all/any new experience is great my good life continues to get better and better At times i do on purpose remember sad things from my past that way i'm reminded how wonderful life is now one happy camper!!!! kathy

    Is this seat taken?

I am so happy for you - I really am. I love hearing how you are progressing and how well you are doing. I also take public transportation every day, and I posted an NSV about fitting in one seat cushion on the train. I can totally relate & its these little things that we all take for granted and it all means progress!
  16. @@gowalking you are exactly right! The NSVs are so important. I haven't weighed myself since my last appointment with the surgeon because the changing scale numbers can make me crazy. And it is enough to ask myself to put forth the effort to stick with this new eating style without the emotional roller coaster of the scale. There's already enough in life beating us up! Interestingly I was speaking to an out of town friend tonight and she asked how the weight loss was going. I told her I was doing well, but, she was really disappointed that I could not tell her how many pounds I've lost. I noticed that her fixation on the amount of weight kind of irritated me. She's thin though, so, my guess is that my explanation of how pleased I am with the NSVs was kind of lost on her. At this point I don't even want to tell her once I find out because I already feel I've succeeded a lot without "the number."
  17. My question is, if you don't want, need, or have to tell anyone, then why did you join the forum? The post seemed almost bitter and resentful that you are a member here. It's great that you are doing what's best for you, but bashing members solicited advise and opinions is really not what the majority is here for. This is a forum for support. That's why we are here. It's a hard journey and some don't have support in their personal life so they turn to their on line family for the milestones NSV and questions, concerns, or advice.
  18. 11/9/08 I’ve already begun to pull clothes out of my closet I haven’t worn in years. And that started just a week post-op and continues. I can’t believe it. I am already ….um…..more comfortable with my husband. Okay that was kind of weird putting that down. I’ve moved to weighing myself on the Wii Fit. It says that I’ve lost a total of 27 lbs and I’ve got from a BMI of 49 to 44.11. That is amazing! I was embarrassed of my BMI even on the boards, but I feel more “normal” for a new bandster now. I’ve upped my calories to 1000-1200 per day. I think that is where I need to be to keep the weight moving and I plan to start back to the gym this week. I haven’t gone to the gym regularly since about May. I hope that will jump start my weight loss even more. I still worry about my port and band and I can’t wait until my first fill. Not just for the fill but to be reassured that everything is ok with my port and band. I don’t know what I will do if I need a revision. Self pay means I definitely have to worry about that stuff!
  19. Thanks, ya'll!!! I just had to post because I was so excited! I wish everyone good luck on their journey! Seeing NSV's like this just makes it all worthwhile!

    First Nsv :)

I got up this morning and got dressed for my job interview today. WHAT A MESS! None, and I mean NONE of my clothes fit me - some were too small (granted I was expecting that) but the ones I JUST BOUGHT were too big. And not tuck here or pin there too big - TOO FREAKING BIG. I had to run to Kohls and buy new clothes because I had NOTHING to wear! I put on a pair of pants that, I was going to wear to Mexico for surgery less than 3 weeks ago and they were just too tight - not comfortable at all. Today, they're too big. I mean TOO BIG! Like awkwardly too big! I'm so excited about this! I wonder if i still have the receipt....

    Slow Losing?

Hi Ann: I think it is rotten to lose slow. I am not losing that fast at all. How well do you know your body? By that, I mean that counting calories doesn't work for me. I have tried it multiple times and it just doesn't seem to work. Counting carbs does work for me. When I sat down and thought about it, I came to this conclusion. Since then I have been counting my Protein, liquid and carb intake. I think it is making a difference. I also agree with Fenton that it is a good idea to document all that you eat and drink. There is a cool website called www.thedailyplate.com which makes all that very easy to do. I actually keep a little notebook in my purse and before I eat, I jot down what I am eating, how much, what time. But.....as I say that.... I also think it is a matter of perspective. You have lost 23 pounds. That is wonderful! I have read some stories of slow losers on the "slow losers' thread and there are some folks that haven't lost that much in a year. It sounds like you are doing everything right! I would also try to count the NSV - non-scale victories. Can you fit into clothes you couldn't before. Does your seatbelt fit better? I have started to tuck my shirt in my pants. I am sure that there is something other than the scale which is showing your success! I wish you well! I hope the scale moves for you soon!

    New Non Scale Victory

@@Miss Mac what a wonderful NSV!!! being/playing with kids/and or grandkids................ thats a major achievement many people are anxious for 58 lbs down too!!! you are aces!!! keep up the good job for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer lifee kathy congrats
  23. I am having so many NSVs, it is really exciting. It seems my body is changing so much so fast. I've lost some weight to be sure, but I think a lot of it is the effect of exercise and I am "compacting" (I believe that was Alexandra's word). Bandster friends, I struggled for so many, many months after my initial weight loss post-surgery. I ate all of the wrong things. I didn't exercise. I didn't lose a pound for months and months. And even though I had lost a lot of weight initially, my clothing size hadn't changed at all. So I hope you don't feel I am bragging or tooting my own horn now, but I just feel the need to express my excitement to someone and I figure you all can understand better than my thin friends would. I love that the band was patient and waited for me to get my act together while at the same time not allowing me to re-gain all my lost weight. The recent NSVs are too numerous to mention, but here are a few: I finally caved in and bought new clothes about a month or so ago because my clothes were finally getting too big. Now my new clothes are too big. At work there are about 2 people a day - usually people I don't really know - who comment on how much weight I've lost. Most miraculous of all, I've had a lot of photos taken of me recently at parties and such and I didn't hate most of them! I'm just so excited and thrilled! Nancy

    Really Cool NSV today.....

Yeah Margo!! What a great NSV. I remember going to the zoo last year and I was shoehorned in so tight at the lunch table it was painful. We're going again next week, so I'm looking forward to sitting like everybody else. It's the little things, isn't it?
