I truly thought I'd never lose, but today I'm six months out, 85+ pounds down and feeling like a million dollars. Those stalls really kick us in the butt, though. I look hard for the NSVs or non scale victories because I know how far I have to go...but just look how far I've come already! You will get there too!!

Yay! What a great NSV!!

Yesterday I went shopping at Target and decided to try on some clothes just for the heck of it. Well I grabbed all plus sizes since the brands there run small and I never thought after only a few months I would be in non plus sizes. Well well. All of the 1x stuff looked too baggy, and since everything rapidly gets bigger on me now, there was no way. I ended up buying a adorable dress and an amazing skirt...BOTH sized XL. First time that's happened since High School. Danced the whole way home

Today marks thirty days since my surgery, four weeks and two days. My husband and I went out to eat for the first time in over a month, and it was a success! I was a little worried about a negative reaction, but was feeling OK since I haven't had any problems at home this past week introducing "early solid foods." We went out for sushi and I ordered a miso Soup which I've been making at home, familiar territory. Then I was about to very slowly, but wonderfully eat three 1oz pieces of sashimi (sake and maguro) dipped in low-sodium soy sauce. HEAVEN! I took very small bites, chewed so thoroughly, and patiently waited between bites to check in with my belly for the full signal. The taste was amazing, so nice to have something my taste buds remember from before surgery. I felt like I could have gone for a fourth piece, but didn't want to push it. It was hard to not dive into the roll my husband got, but I kept staring at the rice like it was a sworn enemy. I did allow myself a small bite of the unagi he ordered for "desert" It was so nice to feel normal again. And I have to say, I loved my sleeve for doing it's job tonight...

Awesome! it is the NSV's that keep me going even more than the scales sometimes.

Do I ever know what you're talking about! I am sliding easily into booths now too. Another NSV is that I am 4 inched from the steering wheel that just a couple of months ago was poking me in the belly. I can look down and see my lap! Aren't we silly?

I know this has been said before, but when it happens to you you just want to scream it to the hills! Went out for lunch with DH, and I slid in to the booth with room to spare. I used to be squished in there like a overstuffed sausage. My DH was sensitive enough to smile and notice before I said a word. No more tables for this lady anymore, I'll be chillin in a booth thank you. ps still freaks me out how little fills me i love my sleeve! sleeved 12-19-11

Hi ladies, and thanks for the warm welcome and encouragement! I started off the day right today ... got in a hard 30 minute workout (mostly kettlebell/cardio with some abs thrown in) before getting ready for work. Breakfast (not the healthiest thing ever but I LOVE it) was Costco's Kirkland Signature Steak Strips (each serving has 60 calories, 9g Protein, 5g carbohydrate, .5g fat, don't even ask me about the sodium though, LOL! Well OK, it's 330mg of sodium if you must know.). I had to swing by the local doughnut shop for a coworker who asked me to bring them into the office and am proud to say I didn't partake of any of them, even though they looked fantastic. Little NSV for me! For snack today I will have a mandarin orange. lunch is leftover homemade chicken gumbo (pretty healthy -- lots of veggies and shredded boiled chicken and spices) w/only a little rice (like 1/8 cup or something) mixed in. Afternoon snack will be more steak strips. dinner is stir fry. I've got my meals all planned out and that definitely helps keep me from snacking. Big NSV yesterday -- I had a stash of snacking foods in a drawer at work and would nosh them regularly. I took all the Snacks out and put them in the common area in the office. Yay, me! It's all gone now (eaten by my always-hungry coworkers), and so even if I am tempted to have a carby snack, the carbs are all gone! I will NOT keep snacks in my drawer at work anymore ... too easy to eat and that can add up to hundreds of extra calories a day. I am sorry to admit I even had that stash; but there you go. It was what it was. It's over now. Fresh start is underway! Have a great day everyone and I love seeing your updates!

Medical Bracelets
ProudGrammy replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hello stacey nicole I am wear a medical bracelet NSV. IMO, i don't think it would be necessary to wear any type of bracelet signfying a "medical condition" of WLS - if you are at a restaurant, and they question you about using a childs portion, you can just give them some sort of explanation if you feel its warrented - but if you are rushed to the hospital for whatever - have had WLS shouldn't be reletive to any procedures. If all is well, and you just have to mention certain medical conditions - then yes "by the way" I have had WLS. kathy -

I truly can't believe that my legs no longer rub together. there were times when pants were damaged due to my legs rubbing together. now I can actually stand and see light between my legs. I have never been able to do that except when I was in middle school. I love my sleeve.

Nsv! No More Cpap Machine!
LoserMama replied to Joiebean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is sooooo awesome. Congratulations. You ROCK girl. I think I will have to do a sleep study of some variety to confirm because my apnea was severe, butr when I can stop I am so looking forward to that, and maybe being able to sleep on a plane without fear of disturbing others, though that may take more work as I'm told part of why I snore/have apnea is because of a severely deviated septum. Anyway, I tOTALLY get what a NSV that is. Woohoo!! -

Officially 1Month Out Today & .....
kayte819 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost 32 lbs post op & 43 lbs total. Unfortunately I am still worried that I made a mistake. I throw up nearly every day! It's such a downer. I have started eating really moist/wet fish daily & that's going well so I'm hopeful, but this has definitely been harder than I thought it would be. I HATE Protein shakes, milk & sf pudding. I wanna chug Water by the gallon but struggle to get 64 oz in. I know it will get better eventually........right? That said, I'm totally stoked about the loss & this was even with a one week stall !!!! Off topic: what's a nsv? I see it on here all the time but have no clue! -
Per the doctors orders, since I've lost over 10% of my body mass, am sleeping well and continuing to lose weight, the doctor has officially taken me off the CPAP machine!!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!
-
OMG! This is awesome! Enjoy every moment of it and remember, you can choose who you give your time too! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I love this NSV! Keep Rockin that Sleeve!

So, I've always had a very active social.. mainly because I'm a vocalist and run in the music/arts circles.. Anyway, friday night I went to a new karaoke spot to hang out for a bit...So, I sang a song and proceeded to go hang out around the bar area w/ the DJ and his wife... This guy walks up and introduces himself and kind just lingers... I had this look on my face like.. ahhhh... can I help you??... He keeps talking, finally sits down and an hour later.... were talking about what I like to do besides read and shop.. I had to sing another song, so he follows me back to the stage area and just stands there.. .When I'm done singing, he kind of grabs me and showers me w/ all these compliments from my smile to my clothes to my voice.. I'm like.. okay...stalker!! LOL... My friends were like laughing.... I'm in shock that this stranger just grabbed me.. LOL... Previously, I would have found a reason to excuse myself because I would be totally over analyzing things... but, now I feel that life is short, so I may as well have fun!!! Oh, my favorite karaoke DJ (who I have a little crush on), can't seem to keep his hands off of me... I was singing and he walked up behind me, put his head on my shoulder and wouldn't let me go!! LOL... I was like.. Lord have mercy!! GEEZ!! Then on saturday, we had an event at church.. my ex was there.. He was turned around in his seat, staring at me... I didn't notice at first (well, I thought I was imagining things)... but my friend was like.... Stalker, 10 o'clock!! LOL.... afterwards, he walked up to me w/ his mouth open trying to think of something to say... LOL... I just spoke and walked away, as he stood gaping and wrapping his mind around the fact that he I'm over him!! So, how do I keep myself out of too much trouble??!!! I've gotten numbers, 'interesting' offers and some fine brothers asking to take me out.... LOL...
