    Unexpected NSV

What a great NSV - I think everyone on this forum can relate to the derriere exposing hospital gowns! Glad to hear that you are better.
  2. My hubby likes to say we got a 2fer. I've lost 69, he's lost 35 due to his change of diet and exercise. Congrats on your NSVs. The add up wonderfully.

Three NSV's and One Thorn In My Side

I had the hardest time finding exercise clothing when I first started exercising too. I had to settle for the Walmart stuff because I honestly couldn't find it anywhere else. Nike, Adidas and all those other brand names don't make big girl sizes. I just worked out in a Capri-type leggings and a tshirt. I thought I would make a killin if I came up with some kind of exercise line of clothing for women Congrats on the NSVs! Happy for ya

    I cried at 22

And it keeps going. The other day I put on a (gulp) skirt size 12. Yes. I said Size 12. WHAT!?!?!?!? And it fit. I didn't buy it cuz I didn't like it, but it fit perfectly. Damn....size 12. Is this me? I ran out of the store and told my bf who hugged me tight. He's great support. I agree with Jack, when you are in the "transition" period, you may not want to buy a ton of clothes. I gave away a lot of stuff with tags still on since I was losing so fast. Yay!!!!! NSV happiness!!

    I cried at 22

That is such a fabulous NSV. I started at a size 24 close to 26 and now I'm in a size 18. I haven't cried YET. Maybe when I hit 16 I will! Keep up the good work. The pounds will melt off. Good luck!

    Revelations......

I myself can now buckle my seat belt without any problems and the biggest one so far I can now tie my own shoelaces and my DH does not need to do it for me when we are out in public. And the funniest when I would stand straight up and try to look down at my toes before I would have to try and move everything else out of the way or moosh it down to see but no more I can see just fine. I love my new self so many new NSV's everyday that I am so amazed and I thank the Lord for this new chance to just be me.

    Revelations......

Nancy, I confess to being a very sloppy eater preband. My NSV is that I haven't had a stain on the front of my shirt for a long time (used to happen daily.) I was so fat I couldn't find my mouth, but I'd sure try. All sorts of little things for me, like I bent down in the hallway at work to tie my shoe. UNHEARD of pre-band (I used have to sit and yank my foot up to tie it closer to eye-level.) Here's another good one: Co-worker brought hommade eggrolls Monday and told me to bring some home to hubby. I forgot Monday. I forgot Tuesday, and I forgot Wednesday. Pre-band, there wouldn't be any leftovers for hubby. And if there was an abundance, I'd have notes everywhere and computer alerts popping up to remind me to bring food home. And I'd leave a message on home machine for hubby to call and remind me. Lisa B. actually forgot about eggrolls. I talk about eggrolls a lot. Can you tell how I feel about them?

    Someone explain the logistics, PLEASE!

There sure seems to be a rash of this going around. I almost quit because I wasn't losing and I thought I should have been. I felt terrible and actually had a temper tantrum... So, instead of tracking my weight (I'll not be getting on a scale until my next doctor's appointment...) Instead, I'm tracking all my NSVs (Non Scale Victories) http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=8943 since I have no scale victories lately. Tracking these helps me keep focused and on track.
  10. I posted on here a couple weeks ago about my worries with traveling. I'm back from my trip to California and pleased to say I didn't have any troubles at all! For the first time in my adult life, I didn't need seat belt extenders on any of the flights. We walked and hiked up mountains and I was able to do it. I look at pictures and am not appalled. This surgery is the best thing that could have happened to me. On the scale, I haven't lost since Christmas. But thinking more positively, I can't think of the last time I went throughout the holiday season and on a vacation without gaining a ton of weight. So here's to committing myself to exercise and eating better in the new year. But right now, I am pretty darn happy! )
  11. Omg jealoussss. I would LOVE to buy a bra without needing to look for straps that'll hold in my back fat and looking for sizes in the 40's. I'm also super freakin' psyched to buy underwear that isn't elastic to hold in my tummy. Hell maybe even a thong! :3 Ps what is an nsv?

NSV - Shopping at a Regular Store

Inner Surfer Girl and everyone else who had a similar NSV…congratulations! Being able to do those “normal” things that other people don’t even think about is just so wonderful. It makes life so much sweeter. And I bet you all look and feel fantastic in those smaller, more fashionable clothes! Dub, Congratulations to you, too. As much as I love being smaller, though, I have to say I’ve never learned to love shopping. Enjoy it, though! You deserve it!

    What a wonderful NSV!!! Congrats.
  15. I do suffer from depression - had it for the last 15 years or so. But my depression doesn't mean I can't enjoy some things, and my weight loss has been one of my biggest achievements in recent years. I have had several NSVs - including today, putting a medium size T shirt on. My family are very supportive and are so pleased and proud of me. I just don't seem able to join them. A friend said to me the other day that he was jealous of me for my weight loss. That had the effect of me questioning whether or not my weight loss was a good thing. Part of me says 'OF COURSE!', but I'm not confident about that all of the time. When I was in my 20s I was a runner and 147 pounds. I loved myself at that weight, but my depression put paid to that. I know I'll never return to that person, but I wish I could enjoy the fact I'm succeeding.

    Scale issues

Better still karina...don't focus on the numbers. Focus on the NSVs. They are infinitely more satisfying than a number on a scale.

NSV - Shopping at a Regular Store

Congratulations on your NSV! I just reached a point where I can buy clothes in stores with a plus size dept and it's exciting! I've been reduced to buying online and accepting whatever could fit for so long, that it's now so much fun to go to Lane Byrant or Nordstroms and walk in and get to choose things that look good on me or make me feel good! I also just made it to zulily sizes 22/24 so now I have a new favorite online store. such a big change from the 32/34 I was wearing in July!

    Opinions Please

Ok, you are making me really hungry now!! LOL Thank yall. I managed to survive the night without any chinese food, and if I had eaten chinese I would be beating myself up. Instead I am celebrating my first NSV. Thanks again
  21. Today is my 4-week post-op surgiversary. I don't have a scale (on purpose) so I took all my measurements. I've lost NINETEEN INCHES since surgery! I was stunned and recalculated 3 times because I couldn't believe it! I lost the LEAST amount (1.5 inches) in my bustline. Yay! Just had to share my excitement with someone.

    NSV

Today at work after sitting all morning I just felt the need to stretch. So I closed my office door at lunch and sat on the floor and stretched. And then I got up off the floor WITHOUT using anything to help pull myself up. Didn't grab the edge of my desk or the chair. I just got up. I'm almost down 50 lbs since 12/19 surgery and being able to move and walk more easily is just great. :-) Tara
  23. I am having NSV this week. I am sure my scale is broken (ha ha, for sure). The compulsive me wants to run out and buy a new one. Was visiting a friend this weekend out of town and almost ran into his bathroom and used his, but refrained as I realized it was too compulsive. Should just throw the darn thing out.
