Dear Stallers And Not Losing Weighters
SkinnyOnMe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dear people who are in a stall or not losing weight, Stop weighing yourself everyday. Just my advice. If you are eating right and exercising you will lose the weight unless there is a medical problem... which is not usually the case. Your body is not a machine. It takes time. Maybe try weighing in once a week or better yet every 2 weeks. I got rid of my scale altogether and I only weigh myself when I go to visit my mother which is within the time frame I just gave you. I don't think I have had any stalls... but I wouldn't know because I focus on my well-being and NSV's, not pounds on a daily basis. Now if 1 or 2 months goes by and no weight loss and you are doing everything right- then worry. But besides that don't stress so much. I am only posting this because I feel sorry for those of you who are so stressed out. I am about happiness and optimism and I thought I'd spread it a little. :-) Have a good and healthy day! Sincerely, Shadayo -

Wow! Congratulations! NSV are just as rewarding as the ones on the scale. -
Awesome! Congrats! My very first NSV too was a normal BP!

I haven't been able to wear my wedding ring in about 5 months because it started getting too big. I took it in today to be resized. It is going from a 7-1/4 to a 6!!!!! I am shrinking all over

I don't want to sound perverted but I've had a hard time keeping my hands off myself since the fat came off. No, not in a sexual way. You know when you had a tooth pulled out and your tongue kept going into the empty space? It seems the brain needs to get used to rapid changes in body image. It seems to want to map the areas over and over until it gets the picture. I have found myself feeling the sunk in area around my collar bone, my protruding ribs, my sinewy shoulders, my smaller wrists, my thin legs when I wasn't even aware I was doing it. Decades with a fat body leaves an impression. I think my brain is trying to erase it. Anyone else having to adjust to the empty spaces?

Was in a regular size lingerie store today and found some super cute PJs. Asked the sales girl how they fit and said that I seem to be fitting into a size large. She says "well I'm a size 10 and you are about the same size as me, so I'd get the medium." I had to fight back tears and the urge to kiss her full on the lips...lol WOO HOO!

Stalled since April 1... God awful April Fools joke
AmandaRaeLeo replied to Jennifer616's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body is wired to freak out at such a low caloric intake and hold onto everything it can for self preservation. It's biology... Or chemistry. Or both. Ride the wave. Switch things up. Track your intake. Made sure you're fueling yourself well. Btw, huge difference in your fave already 4 weeks out. Celebrate you NSV's. -
January RNY Surgery
thin-for-kidney replied to MBM1Forever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks so much! Its nice to know that there are others with the same fear. I know I don't want to be this size forever especially if I want to get a new kidney and have a life again. I can't wait to have my own NSV to post lol -
I went in for my annual eye exam and there are no signs that my bout with diabetes has done any damage to my retina and that diabetes is no longer present in my eyes.

I have one more NSV to report today.....I can no longer wear my wedding rings and my anniverary rings....TOO BIG!!! I am afraid they will fall off so into the drawer they will go until I am ready to have them re-sized. Hey, I just had a thought.....maybe this means I can go out and buy an "in between" wedding ring to wear while I am losing???!!!

Atta girl!!!!!! What great NSV's - being an active participant in your life and your daughter's, not feeling pain when moving and climbing that hill! Great job. Keep up the great work.

That is a wonderful NSV!!!!!!!!!!

I really do not enjoy when the scale seems to get stuck for a few weeks. Usually during that time I really concentrate on either NSV or how my clothes are fitting. Though in my head I am thinking that I look like I was a teen but the mirror says something else. I guess somewhere in between lies the real you.

Bumping cause I have new NSV's I went out on New Year's Eve. We went to dinner and I had a bandster portion of ravioli, some salad and a glass of wine. After dinner we went to this very chic opening of an art gallery. The gallery owners are friends and they are very wealthy. They did everything in a grand style, they had a band, an open bar with very expensive champagne and a beautifully catered buffet table. They also had the waiters and waitresses bringing around trays of the little delights. Now this has always been my very favorite type of food. We're talking crab and artichoke dip, baked brie, bacon wrapped scallops, shrimp scampi, YUM! You get the idea. Well, I was still full from dinner. Not only did I not eat any of that yummy food all night, but - here's the amazing part - I didn't even want any and I didn't feel deprived or anything! One night of victory over the food demon!!! Yeah ME! (and my band, of course)

Surprise Health Effects! Co-morbidities, Other "health Problems", Gone?
Flagstaffian replied to Flagstaffian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey peeps!! That is EXACTLY what I am talking about. Things like - Rosacea clearing up?! Who would have thought?! But, wearing your fat suits literally drags down ALL of your systems in the process of living each day. No more swelling ankles? Finally! One of my biggest NSV's will be to one day wear SHORTS or a skirt that shows my legs! I've never, ever done that. About the carpal tunnel- obesity is (obviously) not the cause, but it exacerbates the condition by applying extra pressure to the carpal/neural pathway (the tunnel). I am hoping by having this one surgery, I can prevent about 10 other surgeries in the future! But dang it, Kaiser told me to lose 9 lbs in the next 3 weeks...or to reschedule my appt w/ the psychologist Time to cut the carbs and increase the walking!! Thank you lovely ladies for your wonderful stories. This community is the BEST!! (((HUGS))) Sarah Flagstaffian -
Just thought I would post my non scale victory (NSV) for anyone wondering what life is like after the band. I went away on a driving trip for a week. We ate every single day in the restaurant. My band kept me honest every single day and meal. I have a loose fill of 5.75 ccs in a 10 cc band and I was able to eat anything I desired including small amounts of a white bread roll. For the fun, I kept track of everything I ate and the quantities. When I arrived home I weighed myself and lost 1/2 lb. Oh so sweet. Normally I gain weight on driving trips. No matter what I may go thru with the band, I would never be without it.
