    Who Else Is Not Losing?

Was sleeve 10/16 and think I'm coming out of my SECOND stall already. Was stuck at 217 for almost two weeks about 5 weeks post op...got down to 210 and have hung around that for a week and am now finally dropped down to 209. From what I've read, when your body hits 10-15% losses, it plateaus...trying to hang onto your weight....because it thinks you're going to starve. It's frustrating but completely normal. As Laura said, keep an eye on your Water intake, change up your exercise and even change up your food. For me, it's hard to have a regular BM without a laxative still...and I ONLY weigh myself after a BM now. Sometimes it's 2-3 days. But something else I've tried is to get my Protein in EARLY in the day and then focus of veggies (aka fiber!) for my final meal or snack of the day. That seems to help my body get out of the plateau too.
  4. Excited, nervous and anxious is normal so dont fret. The excitement will last the longest, the nervousness and anxiousness is just temporary. Be good to your sleeve and your sleeve will be good to you and you will lose weight. All these wonderful people arent blowin' smoke up your tushy, it really works as long as you work it Just think, Christmas time youll be around 6 months and you will need a bunch of new clothes so Santa better be ready

    Aetna

My surgeons office is still waiting on weight history from another doctor's office that is so unorganized. So I requested my records from my obgyn office yesterday. Aetna said everything else is fine, they just need to sew that I have been over weight for the past 2 yrs. They have asked for this almost a week ago and Im trying to be patient. My surgery is scheduled for the 16th of this month. I am praying that everything will work out in my favor. I feel that being the fact there just asking for weight history and that's it, I think I will be fine.

    Loose skin?

Also down 80 lbs just experienced bathing suit vacation and EVERYTHING is wiggly giggly if it wasn't for my excitement at losing the weight and the confidence of that I wouldn't leave the hotel. Quite eye opening as to how fat I was, but Was is the defining factor. So I enjoyed wearing 3 different bathing suit for the fist time in many years #ROCK-ON

    In need of clothes!

I am officially two months post op today (March 25 was my day)! I'm loving it! Losing weight with the sleeve is much harder than I ever imagined it would be but I KNOW that I would not be having the success that I am having without it!

    Can barely hold it!!

I had that problem. After having 5 vaginal births, it was getting significant in the last years and I was leaking throughout the day as well. It has gotten 90% better since losing weight.
  9. Sugarfreeme Hi it was January until we discovered that my Primary doctor sent my information to the wrong place resulting in a two month delayment. The referral he was to complete for his approval for my surgery was not sent in the 3rd month as requested but the fifth month as soon as my insurance company received it within two days I recieved their approval to meet with the syrgeon, he is so back up I can not meet with him until March. So now I have to wait until March to see the surgeon so I am hoping that I will have my surgery the end of March. I am using this time to loose additional weight. And remain positive.

    Vacation tomorrow!

Last January i went on a cruise... i wasn't sleeved yet... i really enjoyed the cruise but felt somewhat conscious about my weight. i wasn't able to do as the others did on the cruise because of the weight. one thing they did was rockwall climbing. i have never done that but i had to decline doing it cause i just could never have held my weight. even dancing was a struggle and i do love to dance. This december i am going on another cruise and so looking forward to it... i have a good portion of weight off now and i am excited to see if i notice a difference. if i feel up to it, this time i will try and climb that wall as far as the food goes.. i think you can meet your goal.. the dinners are so delish and they don't come in EXTRA large portions so if you pick something and stick with that i am sure you can do as you are planning.. good luck and enjoy your trip! you are doing great .. keep up the good work!

    New to bariatric pal

Keep to the program and work on your water intake. Track your intake of everything even if it's on the nono list. It'll help you determine if/where you are going wrong. Stall are going to happen and so is weight gain. There are a lot of determining factors so don't think you are failing. Most of all be patient, that was my hardest struggle and at times still is. Stay positive mentally and Best To You!!!!
  13. I am about 3 months post op revision from band to sleeve, male 6"1 and have dropped from 226 to 189.. All has been going fine and well but feel like i have reached a stall in weight reduction. Feel like im getting more hungrier and im craving sweets alot which i thought it would be a thing i would not have to deal with after getting sleeve. Been only eating one solid meal a day but i have protein shakes for breakfast and lunch because food seems to get sorta stuck and i get a nausea feeling when i eat certain solids. Dont know if this is just a phase im going thru or is it something of a huge concern for me. Would like to hear opinions, comments or suggestions from you all.
  14. I've heard from several folks who started out heavier than you that have said they have had plastic surgery for loose skin. I am about the size you were when you started your weight loss, and I noticed you also mentioned plastic surgery. Do you have a lot of loose skin? Is it just in the tummy area?
  15. I can't see the value of eatting 1/2 cup of soft food the rest of my life! Sure, I can get some Soups down and sometimes late at night some real food, but I am not interested in a "quick-fix". This is going to be something that I am going to live with for the rest of my life. I have lost 5 lbs the past 11 days and I just think that is too fast too. I want a 1-2 lb weight loss per week. Am I crazy? I read some people are begging for restriction, but good grief, I would like to eat real food just not so much of it! I am at 1.6cc. I was at 1.cc before my fill. I am thinking of asking him to remove .2cc to put me at 1.4cc. Any thoughts?

    Un-fill scheduled for Friday...

Alice only you know how you feel. , personally I think you are being a very responsible bandster, we have the rest of our lives to get to goal. Having . 2 removed can make a big difference in the foods you can eat but yet stil lgive you enough restriction to still lose weight.

    My 1st Post-Op appt

Hi everyone! Today I had my first post-op appt, I am 15 dpo and it went pretty well. I was waiting in the waiting room with a lady who had surgery the same day as me and she said that she is not hungry at all, and she is loving it. I am completely oppposite than her and told her that I am hungry ALL the time!! My dr said that it is normal to be hungry by now, and that is bc the fat under my band has shrunk and that my band is not filled and loose now. He said that I can schedule my 1st fill for October 8 and that after that, I will feel like I did after surgery, very full all the time. My dr also said that I might gain a couple lbs between now and my fill!!!:faint: I told him that I have already gained 3lbs since I have been on my mushie phase. He said it is just my metabolism slowing down and trying to hang on to all the calories since I was only on liquid before. He said not to worry about gaining a few pounds bc it will happen!! So, now I can start on a regular full diet, with a limitation of around 1200 calories. I can eat whatever I want, no more mushie or Soups are required. I am really beating myself up over these 3 lbs that I gained back since I lost it after my surgery. I have even upped my exercise and have been walking 2 miles everyday, but I haven't been losing anymore. If my port area still wasn't sore, I wouldn't even KNOW that I have surgery, bc I can eat ANYTHING withouth any problem. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the 1st fill and hopefully some restriction.
  18. I'm Erika and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I live in South Bend, Indiana. I'm a wife, a mother of two wonderful children and I'm in the beginning process of the Lap Band. I've been through all of my different appointments, (Exercise Physiologist, Medical Doctor, Dr. Credi - Surgeon and Behavior Therapist) and now the waiting games starts, for my insurance to review and approve me for surgery. I'm so happy that I find you guys. And I look forward to getting to know you and your journey to take back control over your weight. Erika

    What's the "trick"?

:help: Hi, I got banded on Nov 18, 05. I'm short, 5'2", and started at 231 lbs. So far I've lost 23.5 lbs. I'm slow...I know, but yesterday I had my third fill....each fill was for 1 cc....so I have 1 cc left to play with in my 10cc band. The doctor said that my band will allow for only a trickle to go through now. Has anyone of you had a similar thing happen.....where you lost really slowly and then it picked up as your band was tightened to just a trickle? If your weight loss picked up only after several fills.......will you please let me know? I'll be anxiously awaiting your reply....I need to hear that there are people who were slow loosers first but then got the ball rolling. I'm kind of loosing faith and I need a boost. Help. Write with your tricks or tips or whatever...just write.

    Yeah for me!!!

I went running with my hubby today and I ran 1.5 miles straight, then walked and jogged for 1 mile and then ran the last 1 mile. When we started "crawling" the 3.5 miles 12 days ago, our time was averaging 63-67 minutes. I did it in 45 minutes today. My goal is to do 3.5 in 30 minutes. In high school I ran 3.1 in 26 minutes, so I figure 30 minutes would be good for 3.5. I am almost 42 years old and I made that record for my self when I was 17. Twenty fove years later, let's see if it can be done. God is GREAT, anything is possible! My weight hasn't budged in 12 days. That is disappointing.

  22. Hey all, I have a 3 month wait between band removal and being sleeved. I'm concerned about weight regain and I'm looking for ways to try and maintain my weight (maybe even loose a little if I'm lucky) Has anyone tried the weight watchers pro point system? Did it work? Did you have to adjust the amount of points you were allocated?

    Anyone tried Weight Watchers Points

Hey there, Weight Watchers had always been a go-to for me in my dieting career. When I first decided to move forward with surgery, I joined Weight Watchers (again). Their point system always helped me lose, my problem is I had a hard time maintaining, and after about 6 months I always tired of it. Knowing I was going to follow it for a period of time was a great motivator. I wound up losing 55lb.s between joining in June and my surgery in December. I was happy to have a great jumpiing off point and felt that follwing that plan eased me into the stages after surgery. You are smart to be mindful of gaining inbetween and sound like you have the right attitude for wanting to do well prior to surgery. Your points, unless it has changed, is based on your current weight. The new WW plans are more flexible with working with what you want to do (low carb, etc.) I joined online and found the tools very helpful. Good luck!!

    snacking troubles

Juli~ Great post! P-body~ Remember this is a lifestyle change, and snacking is part of the change you have to make. It is a tough one to break - I have the same challenge. I find myself in front of the fridge or cabinet and have to make a conscious effort to move away and do something else. It is great that you recognize this pattern, that will definitely help you overcome it. Try to come up with something that you can do in place of eat. Maybe just having some more liquids would help - drink some Water and that will fill you up. This is a learning process and this is something you will need to work through. In the past you started to lose weight, thought to yourself, "great" I can snack. Now you have the band and it will help you eat less, but you have to work with it to make that happen. You can do this, you want to lose the weight, or you wouldn't have gone to the extreme of having the surgery, this is just a stage you have to work through!
