    Gastric sleeve left side pain

Did you have gall stones? Lap band 2009 Sw 200/lw 161 Sleeve revision 17 May/17 Sw 217 CW 198.8
  4. I am also a revision from the Gastric Band and was sleeved 4 weeks ago. I had the same thoughts as you, but have just moved onto the normal foods phase. I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to eat and not have that "elephant's foot feeling" on your chest. I hope that you have the same experience in a couple of weeks time? I think the great thing for us revision patients is that we are already used to not being able to eat large amounts of food - so the ability to be able to eat without pain is a huge bonus in itself. Not everybody can eat every food, so there may end up being things which your new stomach might not tolerate - but you also might be able to eat foods with your sleeve that you had difficulty eating with your band. Hang in there, better days are around the corner for you :-)
  5. Back in 2010-2011 I was denied twice for my band. Lindstrom helped with my appeals and I was finally approved. Just got my approval for revision without assistance which was shocking to me but I'm forever grateful for Lindstrom for their help back then.

    MGB weight loss stalled

I had band revision to mgb at the beginning of April, only lost about 21lbs so far and haven't lost any more I expected better weightloss than the band, but it seems to be going super slow, and it has stopped
  7. I had a band revision to mgb at the beiggining of April, lost only about 21 lbs and haven't lost any more

    Mini gastric bypass

So I had my band out and had mgb in beginning of April and only lost about 21lbs. Feeling kinda bummed here Are revisions this slow? Anyone else have a revision to mgb? How has the weigholoss been for you?
  9. So after having my band in for about 5 years, it was removed 12 days ago and while they were in there it was revised to the sleeve. I was 110% gung-ho for this procedure, I've been fighting insurance for almost a year to get it. But now that I have it, I'm kind of freaking out. I am on the liquids and protein shakes only phase still, and I keep wondering if I'm ever going to enjoy eating food again like a normal person. I think with the band there was some degree of comfort knowing it wasn't permanent and that I could always loosen it if I wanted to. Now that I've had 80% of my stomach surgically removed, I am just panicking a bit because I want to enjoy my life, enjoy food and drink, and not feel like a freak when I'm out with friends family and coworkers at a restaurant. Am I the only one who's been here mentally, having a mini freak out?

    Cruise 4 months after surgery

I had my band removed and sleeve revision done ten days ago. My wife and I are going on a 7 night Carnival cruise from New Orleans to the western Caribbean in October. After I had the sleeve surgery, I freaked out realizing I may not be able to eat and drink and enjoy a cruise anymore. My doctor told me at 4 months out I'm going to be healed sufficiently to eat normal foods and even have a drink here and there, just don't overdo it. That made me feel a lot better. I plan to have a few sips of wine after I get to phase3 and do a trial run from home in case it hits me pretty hard. Dont want to beta test my new alcohol tolerance in public. Lol

    Day 13 Post-Op Sleeve

I know honey. I'm feeling the same way. I am 7 days out today from lapband revision to RNY and I was in no way prepared for the emotional roller coaster of hormones. I am furious, I'm laughing and I'm sobbing uncontrollably. It's the most illogical thing. Beyond that, I want to EAT! Everyone said, "oh don't worry. For the first month you won't even think about food." WHATEVER! I have been thinking about food constantly since day 3! I want to freaking eat!!! And worst of all, I am down a whopping ONE pound! I'm so glad I went through this expense, pain and taking off work just to lose a pound! Evidently, revision patients lose very slowly (which my surgeon never mentioned to me!) so I can expect to lose 5 pounds or so per month. Are. You. Kidding. Me. ??????? I could lose way more than five pounds a month on Jenny Craig! So, right now I am thinking this is the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. If I could go back one week and change it, I would not have this surgery. Having a surgery that only allows me to lose 5 pounds per month is pointless for someone like me who needs to lose 100-125 pounds. Oh one last thing. My surgeon accused me of cheating. He says there's no way I should be down only one pound in 7 days and I must've been eating things not on my list. It took everything in me to keep from going off on him. I didn't cheat. I swear to God. I'm glad you can keep your sense of humor. I pray it helps you through this and pray for your success and health. June 12, 2017 I had my lap-band removed, my gallbladder removed and received an RNY. HW: 402, SW 306, CW 303, GW 185
  14. My journey started with me at 388 pounds. Lap band was in for 8 years before it scare tissued to my stomach. In 8 years I had lost about 140 pounds. Flew down to Mexicali and had VSG revision, band our and revision same day! Would not change a thing and would never look back. I now hover in the 190-200 range, a few pounds up and a few down. Had absolutely no issue with the revision and in fact the second day walked down the street to the shopping Mall 4 long blocks away just to air my head..... If your thinking about it stop, JUST DO IT! It changed my life..... Will your also....

    Lapband to VSG

Thank you all for sharing your stories with me, I felt so alone and now not so much. I also felt like a failure but now I realize failing only occurs when you stop trying. I got my approval for revision to VSG today, surgery is scheduled for 7/17/2017!!! I wish you all luck with your planned revisions and journey <3

    Bypass Vs. Sleeve?

I'm going band to DS in august. My surgeon and I chose the DS because revisions tend to lose slower and the DS has a better track record when it comes to regain in the future. I'm an under 40 BMI patient with no comorbidities that count (I do have back issues and asthma).
  17. I just received approval for band to DS revision. My surgeon and I chose the DS because revisions tend to lose slower and the DS has a better track record when it comes to regain. August 8th can't come fast enough! I hope whichever path you choose that you find success [emoji4]
  18. I had my gallbladder out a year after banding (am currently waiting on revision) at the time I was unaware it was my gallbladder and thought I was having a heart attack. Cut to me sitting in my living room after calling 911 with all the EMTs and fire department personnel with my shirt pulled up over my head straight up free flowing no bra and like 12 guys just staring as one is putting on the stickies to check my heart.... looking back I can laugh now but then I thought I was dying. Get it removed before it really becomes an emergency.
  19. with the mini gastric do you eat 5 small meals a day? do you get stuck like you do with the band? I'm looking into a revision from the band to not sure trying to get a lot of info on all the surgeries before I decide
  20. I think anyone of us that went through this revision felt the same way !! The first 6 weeks will be an emotional roller coaster but do what ever you can to fight these negative thoughts !! The weight will come off !! Follow your surgeons and dietitians directions and you will succeed !! I am 11 months out and 101 lbs down and I never thought I would be here !! Drink lots of water and protein and stop looking at the scale !! If I can do this anyone can BUT the one piece I was never informed about was the hormone roller coaster right after surgery ! You hormones will even out and you will be fast on your road to success !!
  21. It has been a long time since I last posted. It is now 2017 & Im still suffering from reflux. Just had an EGD which shows esophagitis & reflux issues. I recently retired & now am only covered by Champ va insurance. My doctor is recommending surgery again & her office just called & said my insurance approved it. I am scheduled 7/11. I am still worried that once I have this done Champ va will try not to pay it since I didn't go through the weight loss protocol back in 2012 when I went to Mexico. I need the revision for reflux, not weight loss. I am so tired of everything I eat coming back up, also I'm not able to digest salad, veggies or fruit. Also lactose intolerant since my sleeve. I really hope this works.. I have kept my weight off, I'm 125lbs..

Why did you choose the bypass?

I had RNY gastric bypass because I had severe acid reflux (GERD) prior to surgery and the sleeve will only make this condition worse. RNY has been around for several decades and is almost the gold standard in weight loss surgery. They have most of the bugs worked out. Also I did not want to undergo surgery a second time. Once is enough for me. The rate of revision surgery is extremely low for this type of operation.
  23. I am sobbing uncontrollably right now and really need to hear from others who have had the band to RNY (or sleeve) revision, please. I am six days post op from band to RNY and I have lost ONE POUND. I am so upset. My biggest fear going into this was failing again just like I failed with the band. And, to me, a one pound loss is 100% failing. I'm in absolute hysterics right now crying. Why did I do this? So much money, so much time from work, so much pain... to lose a pound in a week? I could've lost far more than this with some simple Slim Fast diet or something. I can't do this. I cannot do this. I can't. What kind of fat, disgusting, out of control pig am I that even two WLS's aren't helping me lose weight?? I know my hormones are raging after surgery. I know I am behaving like an emotional basket case. I know this. But in this moment, this is so real. I am so upset... so ashamed of myself. If anyone reads this, would you mind telling me if you felt this way? Would you mind sharing your weight loss progress? How slow or fast it was? I know we are all different, but I would just like to see examples. And, most of all, would you mind sharing how you dealt with the incredibly slow loss? I am not a patient person. Not even close. I know myself. I will become discouraged and give up. I need help here. I do have an upcoming appointment with a therapist who I hope can help. But in this moment, I really, really just need to hear from those who have been here.

Why did you pick this surgery?

I just had the band revision done 2 days ago and I am feeling great. I can swallow pills now..My stomach erosion does not hurt anymore. I don't feel like I am starving and when I eat.. I AM enjoying my Full liquid chicken soup...I feel So much better..I am able to belch now. It's like I am back to normal. It feels so good to be able to drink fluids and not have them go into my lungs. I don't have GERD. I very am confident that I am going to have great results..
