I was banded June 17th and I haven't had a period since. My weight loss is slowing down now. I was always a little irregular though so I'm not worried by it (although I am due to go to the gyn) And I know I'm not pregnant. I'll enjoy it while I can!!! (or before the Dr does something about it!!)

good gynecologist for lap band patients
CheckYes replied to options123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure why having a lapband would affect your pap smear and birth control stuff. I would think any gyno would be familiar with weight loss affecting your hormones and stuff. Am I missing something about lapband in particular? -
Recognizing and Overcoming Limitations
DivaStyleCoach replied to DivaStyleCoach's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Sojourner! I agree with you - I choose to see "limitations" instead as "challenges" - to me, that puts them in the category of something I can overcome, not something I have to live with. I, like you, had to reframe my beliefs. If I had chosen to believe that I was doomed to be overweight (due to a combination of my own bad eating habits and my family history) then I would not have followed through with my research and gotten my lap-band. I believe that I can overcome ANY challenge - hence the post above. Congrats on your weight loss - 95 lbs is a great success - and I wish you nothing but success in your future! :-) -
So I haven't dropped weight in the last couple months, which is extremely frustrating. So, I think My body may just be comfortable here. I'm considering hiring a personal trainer to kick it up a notch. For those of you who have, any advice?? Specific questions to ask? What do I need to know? Any suggestions would be appreciated. This seems like a big investment, so I want to chose the right person. Thanks in advance!

I have lost about 17 pounds in the 2 weeks since my surgery. I was a bit disappointed that I haven't really been able to SEE the weightloss, nor have I noticed it in any of my clothes. I read on here someone talked about losing 16 pounds and being able to put clothes into their "too big" section. I don't have one of those sections in my closet and so far none of my clothes want to make the plunge into being the first in that section. So, yeah, I was a bit disappointed. Until I looked at myself in the mirror today (really looked)...and realized that my face is a bit skinnier. And a ring that I originally bought to wear on my middle finger but has been being worn on my ring finger, right hand....now fits in it's originally intended spot. And my engagement ring...forget about it. It's waaaaayyy to big for my finger. Sure, I miss wearing it, I'm gonna go get one of those ring guards, but it's nice to actually NOTICE the weight loss. I have my 2 week post-op appointment tomorrow and I get to start eating pureed foods. So excited about that, since I miss eating hot foods. I'm tired of popcicles and cold shakes. non-weight stuff: I'm done with Christmas shopping! Wheeeeee!

Surgery around the holidays
DivaSue replied to Christina T.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my Surgery just 3 days after Thanksgiving. My PreOp diet was 3 Meal Replacements and one real meal. The 2 days before I did only meal replacements and then on thanksgiving did 2 with a larger meal with some outlaw food like stuffing! Then Friday back to just meal replacements. Didn't gain any weight. Just budgeted very carefully. If you are doing a lot of travel, I would buy some shelf stabilized milk and a Blender Bottle. Then you can do Protein shakes in the car and on the road. Which hospital in Boston? I live just outside, I workk at Mass Gen and had my surgery at Beth Israel. -
I had my gastric bypass in 2013. I did really well at maintaining until I suffered a serious knee and back injury. As a result of being unable to exercise or be active I gained weight. 9 days ago I started the reset diet. So far its working miraculously. It is teaching me to eat properly again, reducing my intake and lots of more energy. I also started using patchaid vitamin patches as well.

Who Else Is Not Losing?
FieryRed replied to luvzpitbullz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was sleeve 10/16 and think I'm coming out of my SECOND stall already. Was stuck at 217 for almost two weeks about 5 weeks post op...got down to 210 and have hung around that for a week and am now finally dropped down to 209. From what I've read, when your body hits 10-15% losses, it plateaus...trying to hang onto your weight....because it thinks you're going to starve. It's frustrating but completely normal. As Laura said, keep an eye on your Water intake, change up your exercise and even change up your food. For me, it's hard to have a regular BM without a laxative still...and I ONLY weigh myself after a BM now. Sometimes it's 2-3 days. But something else I've tried is to get my Protein in EARLY in the day and then focus of veggies (aka fiber!) for my final meal or snack of the day. That seems to help my body get out of the plateau too. -
What can't you eat, that you used to be able to.

Excited, nervous and anxious is normal so dont fret. The excitement will last the longest, the nervousness and anxiousness is just temporary. Be good to your sleeve and your sleeve will be good to you and you will lose weight. All these wonderful people arent blowin' smoke up your tushy, it really works as long as you work it Just think, Christmas time youll be around 6 months and you will need a bunch of new clothes so Santa better be ready -
My surgeons office is still waiting on weight history from another doctor's office that is so unorganized. So I requested my records from my obgyn office yesterday. Aetna said everything else is fine, they just need to sew that I have been over weight for the past 2 yrs. They have asked for this almost a week ago and Im trying to be patient. My surgery is scheduled for the 16th of this month. I am praying that everything will work out in my favor. I feel that being the fact there just asking for weight history and that's it, I think I will be fine.

Also down 80 lbs just experienced bathing suit vacation and EVERYTHING is wiggly giggly if it wasn't for my excitement at losing the weight and the confidence of that I wouldn't leave the hotel. Quite eye opening as to how fat I was, but Was is the defining factor. So I enjoyed wearing 3 different bathing suit for the fist time in many years #ROCK-ON

In need of clothes!
BlessedBeyondMeasure2012 replied to jaxmama23's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am officially two months post op today (March 25 was my day)! I'm loving it! Losing weight with the sleeve is much harder than I ever imagined it would be but I KNOW that I would not be having the success that I am having without it! -
I had that problem. After having 5 vaginal births, it was getting significant in the last years and I was leaking throughout the day as well. It has gotten 90% better since losing weight.

Scared, nervous, excited all at the same time
Cupcake replied to SugarFreeMe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sugarfreeme Hi it was January until we discovered that my Primary doctor sent my information to the wrong place resulting in a two month delayment. The referral he was to complete for his approval for my surgery was not sent in the 3rd month as requested but the fifth month as soon as my insurance company received it within two days I recieved their approval to meet with the syrgeon, he is so back up I can not meet with him until March. So now I have to wait until March to see the surgeon so I am hoping that I will have my surgery the end of March. I am using this time to loose additional weight. And remain positive. -

Last January i went on a cruise... i wasn't sleeved yet... i really enjoyed the cruise but felt somewhat conscious about my weight. i wasn't able to do as the others did on the cruise because of the weight. one thing they did was rockwall climbing. i have never done that but i had to decline doing it cause i just could never have held my weight. even dancing was a struggle and i do love to dance. This december i am going on another cruise and so looking forward to it... i have a good portion of weight off now and i am excited to see if i notice a difference. if i feel up to it, this time i will try and climb that wall as far as the food goes.. i think you can meet your goal.. the dinners are so delish and they don't come in EXTRA large portions so if you pick something and stick with that i am sure you can do as you are planning.. good luck and enjoy your trip! you are doing great .. keep up the good work!

Keep to the program and work on your water intake. Track your intake of everything even if it's on the nono list. It'll help you determine if/where you are going wrong. Stall are going to happen and so is weight gain. There are a lot of determining factors so don't think you are failing. Most of all be patient, that was my hardest struggle and at times still is. Stay positive mentally and Best To You!!!!
