    August 05 where are you??

Okay Ray and my fellow August 05 people where are you??? Out enjoying your new bods?? I'm doing very well, I've lost 92lbs as of tonight. I am very pleased. I am debating on getting another fill as hubby is coming back from India next Sunday and is ready for his second fill. I will probably hold off as I just started a new job and I'm down 6lbs in almost 2 weeks. Hope everyone has a great week and don't be a stranger!! Keep us posted and stay strong!

    Today was the Day!

So we had a bad snow storm the past couple of days and it took us three hours instead of two hours to get to the hospital but we made it in time. I was never nervous. But when I was in the OR i remember thinking "am I sure I want to do this?" Then I woke up and thought "well to late now" Don't get me wrong I don't regret it I think i was just starting to get nervous. The first thing I said when I woke up is "I am mad at whoever woke me up" lol i wasn't mad i was just sleeping sooo well. I have been groggy all day. I feel pretty good. A little pain. It feels more like hungry pains. But for the last 24 hours all i have had is a Popsicle and 4 tbls of Jello. and that seems to help. If any one has any questions just ask. I am just sitting in the hospital (i am staying over night because of the distance)
  4. Hi i wonder if anybody else has experienced this. I had a lap band revision to a sleeve on august 1 2016. I had a leak and had to go back in the hospital. I was put on a feeding tube for a month. Long story short the tube came out on oct 11. So its been a week where i can drink and eat mushy foods. But once they hit my stomach its just aches. Any help as to y would b appreciated. Sent from my SM-G550T1 using the BariatricPal App

    Good Lord help me...

Hang in there you can do it! Also, by cutting back on carbs now, when you do your liquid diet your cravings and headaches will already be behind you. It will make your post op easier. One month before my pre op liquid diet I cut all my carbs and sodas. I didn't lose very much, but my two week liquid pre op diet was a breeze because I didn't have any cravings. Everything you do to help before surgery is a good idea. Good luck to you!!

    Insurance Approved but Dr. Denied

I am having my band out, just waiting the the approval. I suggested they do the RNY at the same time. The surgical nurse said insurance company wouldn't allow the dual surgery and I would have to go through 3 months of weight management with PCP, another psychology test (which I had done today. I am lucky my psychologist is the one that got me in with my new doctor and is the psychologist for that practice.) then the bypass. Hopefully I don't have to get the approval from the clinic's board. I am already upset because the band has to come out (I am one of the patients that never had an issue, even though it has now slipped. In fact I lost 4 pounds since I seen my new doctor three weeks ago). So really will be upset if I couldn't get the approval of the board if it would come down to that. I am afraid that since this clinic didn't do my band, and I am new to them, they could deny me because of age as their cut off is 72 and I'll be 71. My heart goes out to all of you and the hoops that we all seem to have to go through just to better ourselves, become healthier and it takes just one person who says you didn't do what you should have done before, so you probably won't do it this time either so I can't approve another surgery. All we can do is hang in there and wish for the best.
  7. Hi, All these feelings and emotions are sooooooo very normal. I must have tried to talk myself in and out of having this surgery 50 times those weeks before I had it. I was excited, scared, happy, nervous and not sure I could do it, wanted to have it done right away, questioned if this was right for me, sad, and questioned if this was the right thing, and new it was the right thing! I had all these feelings and emotions all in one day sometimes. So if you have these, it is so very normal to have. I am glad my post helped you in some small way, I am here if you need to just talk and say how you are feeling. Hang in there your are going to love the results. Hugs, Suzanne

    Thanksgiving Dinner

Thank you...yes certainly dealing with the emotional connection with food will be very difficult. I suppose this type of thing will happen often to me...especially at first. I was surprised on how little I can hold right now...I am assuming it's because I am only 7 days out. I would imagine by 3 weeks ago I will be able to consume more than a few ounces right?

    Thanksgiving Dinner

Just a question. Does your doctor consider yogurt the same as creamy soup? I could have creamy soup at day 8 but it was another week before I could have yogurt. Also I thinned out the Greek yogurt at that point with fat free milk because it is really thick.

    Question

I had my surgery Oct 2, two weeks and a day ago. I have loss 27 pounds in this time frame. After surgery and up to 3 days ago I was NEVER hungry. I have been hungry lately which Im confussed about. I would have a few spoons of soup become full as a bull stop eating then less then 30 mins later I am hungry as heck again!!! WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!? What am I doing wrong?!?! Please HELP!!
  19. I see my surgeon about once every 4-6 weeks. Last visit was Jan 30. Monday, I had lost 5 pounds, but after some coaxing, allowed doc to give me .5cc.( I have NO clue how many cc's I have total, nor do I remember the capacity of my band!) This was the first time I had been filled @ 8:30am, and they gave me icy Water to check for tightness. (I do not do icy water, or any food early in the day, I am too tight) I didn't make it out of the office before the icy water came back up. Monday evening I had some sf/ff cocoa, nice and warm, went down & stayed down. Then tried some tomato Soup, again, went down & stayed down. Tuesday morning........could not keep cocoa, warm water, tea, even my own slime would not go down. And forget about blood pressure meds, not gonna happen! (Sorry, gross, but if anyone gets it, it is fellow bandsters.) I tried to tough it out, thinking somehow it would get better with time, but NO! I ended up calling the clinic @ 2pm, and had the .5cc removed around 4. The relief was immediate! I have learned, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! I am so glad I didn't wait to have the Fluid removed! I am back on liquids until tomorrow, then mushy and so on. Haven't figured out the ticker, but I had my surgery in 2004 (you read that right!) No fills till 2011 when insurance decided to pick up the cost.......I actually gained weight post surgery in the 7 years, (who would have thunk it, if you don't use the tool right........)Anyway, first fill in October 2011, have lost 50 lbs so far. About 120 to go! It's easy being GREEN!
  20. I was sleeved on August 29...gained six pounds in the hospital in three days, and I'm only down one pound...that makes me five pounds heavier than before the sleeve. I'm very discouraged.
  21. I did not think after the surgery I would feel this hungry. I am getting 80-90gms of Protein, juice, Water, Soup, etc and I am hungry. I am 1 week post op today. Does or did anyone else feel this way, I am scared, I am not going to stop overeating and that's what got me to the surgery. I thought the hunger is supposed to be gone, please tell me what you think, Thanks

  23. All I have to say is.........Goodbye Lane Bryant!!! :faint: WOW!!! I actually bought clothes this weekend at PacSun, Gap and Hot Topic!!!! I was so excited! I bought a size 13 at Hot Topic and a size 14 at the Gap...I could have died and gone to Heaven! :clap2: But the best surprise was going to a store like PacSun and trying on their clothes and they actually fit! I am so excited...just had to share! Now if I could just get more pounds to drop...I have been stuck at this same weight since 2nd week of April...:think . AAAGGGHHH! :help: OOPS! For some reason I had an error and it posted twice...sorry!
  24. Help!!! I will be taking my first work related trip exactly 4 weeks post op and don't know what to anticipate as far as eating. I got an email this morning asking if I have any special food needs (I'm assuming this was to target vegetarian/vegan), but I have no clue what to say. This person does not know I have had surgery and I do not anticipate telling them either. BTW-I am exactly one week post-op today.

    2days post op

Try to start getting some Protein. Isopure is considered clear liquid and counts as Water. You wont get any energy till you start to get some protein in your body. It will also help you to heal better. Sip,sip, sip every sip helps. If Jello is on your protocal, not one mine week one you can make it with unflavored protein. I use unjury and use it in sugarfree black cherry jello. Can't taste it and its chalk full of the coveted protein. Good luck, it gets better. I'll be a week post op tomorrow and am managing about 80 grams of protein and I do feel great.
