Cinnamon roll... Interesting. I got the Equate high protein (it's very similar to Premier) in caramel the other day, and I was very surprised at how good it was. Like, I'd love to put it into coffee (I don't drink coffee anymore because I cannot drink it without SO much sugar and creamer... It was really an unhealthy amount). Dunno how I'll react to them AFTER the surgery, though. I'll have to look into that clear protein. Though I may just use Genepro in some water with Mio in it...

3 Weeks Post Op - Are chips and Guacamole allowed?
trekker954 replied to iam_yamii's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in Mexico this week for work. At the breakfast buffet, put a smidgen of refried beans on my plate. Ooooo, must be a chili in there. The guac was delicious though. I'm hoping the business lunch will have good offering of protein. I'll bring a packet of genepro with me just in case. As I progress, I notice I do get hungry if I go 3 hours without protein. At home this won't happen but on travel it does. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
Interesting. Everyone at my program, with the possible exception of the surgeon himself, regularly gave us dire warnings about stretching our sleeve, complete with wide eyes and wagging fingers. "If you eat too much, you will stretch your sleeve out and increase its capacity and this operation will be for nothing", they said. Of course, these are the same people who pointed me in the direction of GENEPRO as a good source of Protein. I will have to do some more investigation, but thank you for the information.

Two weeks post op...how much water weight is there?
orangesali posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm two weeks and two days out and have just barely lost 5 pounds. I'm not really ever hungry- mostly just mental cravings I think. I've been eating Soup pretty religiously and now added FF plain Greek yogurt and FF/SF pudding, adding in GENEPRO Protein powder get me to 60g of protein. On my worst day I'm still eating less than 800 calories. Not sure why more isn't coming off, but my doctor didn't seem too concerned. I've got to believe that it'll come off soon, right? Note: I did lose 50 pounds pre-surgery but not sure if or how that would affect me post-op. -
I use Genepro. Yes, I know about the lawsuit. It was what my nnut recommended, and it seems to work great for me, so I am going with it That seems like a lot, but everyone is different. At this stage, my nut is recommending 1/4c food per meal. Yay! Hopefully the gas and heartburn has eased some for you Welcome!! I feel pretty great myself, now, considering my really rough start! Congrats on the loss!

Fluid Intake related to slow weight loss?
Paloma68 replied to MommyMeghan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every morning I have a Premier shake (30g Protein, available at Costco). I add GENEPRO protein (30g per scoop) which I add to my shake. This means that by Breakfast, I have 60g protein. I would rather have something else for b'fast, but this is a sure way of getting the minimum protein in. Everything else thru out the day is gravy. On weekends, I sometimes make my shake and drink a little thru out the day. I do this so I can have eggs and sausage or something else besides shakes for breakfast. As far as liquid intake, I use a straw. Dr. said not to, but read a thread that many people ignored this and no ill side effects. So I have been using a straw and feel fine... Really helps with the liquid intake. -
there's a ton of topics on protein BUT...
shellyd88 replied to glitterpockets's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes the isolate is better it's more expensive but dissolves better etc I didn't care at the time cuz I couldn't choke it down so I got the genepro unflavored and mixed in with hot tea broth soup cottage cheese pudding dissolve with a bit of water those before adding to hot liquid or it clumps it was all I could tolerate -
I got Genepro from Amazon on Prime Deliery. Today is the first day i used it and i feel oh so good about getting all my protein in before i leave work. Now i can focus the rest of my night on water intake since i still have about 30 ounces to go.. and if i really want something i will have a popcicle.

Does anyone know of a good Protein Shake that doesn't have artifical sweetner?
CheleLynn45 replied to Addawn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't do artificial sweetners either but I have found that I can drink Premiere Protein RTD shakes with no problem, no aftertaste and no headaches. Not sure what kind of sweetener is in them. I would have to go take a look. The back says sucralose?? I am just glad the don't bother me cause it is mostly what I use for lunches. I also use GENEPRO (an unflavored protein powder) in my decaf tea in the mornings. I use Splenda in my tea and again no problems. I can't use any of the Water enhancers or sugar free syrups because I cannot take the aftertaste and the headaches I get. You will get a lot of great answers on here, that's one thing I love about this site!! Good Luck!! -
Vlogger Melanie Sliced Thinner has a great vlog on this backed up by research and comments from GENEPRO. Check it out and you might opt for a different vendor. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Addawn replied to melissa'sjourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so happy for you!!! You are doing GREAT!!! I am using Genepro unflavored protein, 1 small scoop has 30 grams of protein and you can put it in anything including coffee and soups. I mix it in pudding as well. -
OMG-Is it me or are proteins shakes to sweet to handle? Stomach noises too!
Debbieduck4 replied to kcd1107's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try GENEPRO Protein powder. You can buy it on Amazon. It is tasteless and mixes in with literally anything with no lumps. It doesn't change the flavor or consistency of foods. You can put it in hot or cold items. It has 30 grams of protein per scoop. I usually start my day by adding it to a cup of coffee. I've also put it in yogurt, cottage cheese, Soups, chili, smoothies, juice, anything that is the slightest bit wet. You may like it better that pre-packaged Protein shakes. If you're on liquids still, you can add it to whatever you're sipping on. -
Remember, unflavored doesn't mean there is no flavor, it means they ADD no flavor to it. To me unflavored protein powder has a creamy, almost coffee-creamer taste, kinda like powdered milk. I don't mind it in the slightest, and it is milky-looking when added to liquid. I prefer it to pre-made shakes. I use TG's, found on Amazon.com. I also use Genepro. Hope this helps!

Dealing with anxiety by buying protein powders?
theantichick replied to gonefromhere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, yeah, I guess I wasn't clear. I'm stocking up on pretty much all of the variety/sampler packs I can find, plus I got a tub each of unjury and GENEPRO unflavored. I did get a full tub of a key lime pie though because it's my absolute favorite flavor for everything, but I'll probably mostly finish it pre-op. oh, then you're fine. -
Hi everyone! Made this in my slow cooker today. Though I am well beyond puree stage I sill eat a lot of Soup and this was delicious. Of course, I also added some GENEPRO Protein powder! Butternut Squash Bisque INGREDIENTS:32 oz cubed butternut squash 2 large shallots, quartered 2 cups chicken broth 1 tbsp chopped garlic 3/4 cup coconut milk pinch nutmeg DIRECTIONS: Place the squash, shallots, garlic and broth in the slow cooker. Cook on low for 8 hours or high 4 hours, until soft and cooked through, a knife should easily be inserted. Stir in coconut milk and nutmeg. Blend in a blender or using an immersion blender. Season to taste with salt and pepper

Help! I think I'm dying
busybeebug replied to ginaandy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It can take a bit to feel better. Keep going slow and steady. It will get better. I can't say how long for you. Have you tried putting unflavored protien in your water?(if you are alowed) Once I started doing that, I began feeling much better. I use Genepro. Taking the pepcid can help even if you don't feel the acid. Hang in there it will get better -
I couldn't do artificial sweeteners or plain water, so I drank decaf herbal teas, Vitamin water, lifewater, pedialyte, dilute 100% fruit juice, dilute Powerade, chicken broth, beef broth, Swansons tortilla soup base, and strained wonton and hot and sour soups. Added Un jury unflavored powder to the soups and it wasn't too bad. Tried isopure but it made me gag. I've heard genepro mixes well with everything and has no taste, but I've never tried it.

Hey! Where do you buy your GENEPRO from -- Amazon? Currently on Protein shakes but if I can mix it into my food later that'd be cool too. Can't wait till next week when I can have pudding. Do you think it's the best flavorless protein powder? I do get it from Amazon about $1.10 a serving (30grams protein) when you buy the 90 serving container. I haven't tried others brands so I can't say how it compares. I tend to find something I like and that works for me and stick to it. DS surgery 12/14/2016

I am now 5 months from surgery. I've had horrible food aversions but some of that is easing. I can now eat bacon again. Before, it was disgusting. The same can be said of a few other foods. I'd love to be able to tolerate chicken but it's still off the menu. I am taking tasteless GENEPRO twice a day, 60 grams to keep my protien up and it is giving me some strength back. Also, I've switched to a 1 a day bariatric vitamin. Weight loss as of now is 118 pounds and my goal is 210 pounds. Hope this encourages some who are struggling. Stick with it.

How are you getting protein in??
Boldilocks replied to Tejee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I put this into a lot of stuff - mix it into yoghurt, cottage cheese, fat-free re-fried beans, curries, sauces, soups. It really helps me pack more protein in as a vegetarian. The scoops are very small. https://www.amazon.com/GENEPRO-Musclegen-Research-Flavorless-Certified/dp/B00K6OSDYA -
non-sweet protien options 8 days post op liquid phase
dolly30gs replied to AZgrown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am 8 days post op and sick of sweetness. I bought genepro unflavored protein, put a half scoop in beef broth AFTER I heat it up and bam! 15gm protein for lunch and dinner. I also bought bariatric pal box of beef broth and it is sooo much more flavorful than store bought and comes with 15gm already. The chicken is nasty but I love the beef. -
Motivation to eat
crazyplantlady replied to Tssiemer1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a lot of motivation at that time too. I tried to find things I enjoyed eating and reminded myself that Protein would help me lose faster and healthier. one of my favorite things at that stage (and today) was refried black Beans, salsa, and cheese Heated up in the microwave so the cheese gets melty I can even add GENEPRO Protein powder to it in, and it tastes so good! A good source of Fiber, protein, and healthy carbs. Just try to find things that you enjoy! try to have fun with it. We're all here because we enjoy food, and there's no reason you can't do so still! Just in a healthier way, and in moderation.
