Thank you! I still have 35lbs to go to but my first goal. It happens differently for everyone. I was very big. 332lbs at 5โ4, very petite stature. I think thatโs why it took so long. Plus thereโs the โpoliteโ factor. I think people shy away from saying anything about someoneโs weight, especially when they are my former size. Just donโt let it discourage you if people donโt say anything for awhile. Take more pride in the NSVs because there will be many of them. Thatโs what makes me proud everyday of my accomplishments. A family friend who is 100lbs soaking wet, gave me great advice recently. She said, there are days where I pick myself a part. Days I feel bloated and fat. It doesnโt matter how small you are, there will be days. But the things that donโt come and go for me is the improvement to my health, not worrying about if a chair will hold me, being able to cut my toenails and tie my shoes, walking across the parking lot without being out of breath, taking my dog for a walk.... *those* are the things that i never pick apart. I always hold onto.

Any March 2018 Sleevers?
Stevie the Sleevey replied to NelliSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey everybody! I havenโt checked here since I had surgery 3/14. Iโm down 71 lbs post-op. My hair is thinning a lot now too. Iโve always had thick hair so shedding happens, but itโs been bad the last month. I upped my biotin to 15,000 mg (15 g) a day and the hair is at least not coming out in clumps anymore. It seems hair loss is pretty inevitable for bariatric patients. The skin under my stomach I have to be careful stays dry, but I had that problem before surgery too. The stomach is a lot smaller though now! Yay! Iโve started swimming the last month for exercise. Yes, I actually bought a swimsuit and wear it in public. I am so proud of my weight loss that I donโt even care what people think anymore. In fact, next week, Hubby and I are going to a waterpark! I checked on weight restrictions and everything is ok. This is the first time Iโve gone since high school (Iโm 36). Anybody else have some non scale victories (nsv) to celebrate? -
For the past week, my family spent time in our home away from home, South Lake Tahoe, CA. If you haven't been, it's a place you need to visit and fall in love with. We visit there quite often since we are only 90 minutes away. Anyhow, the week was filled with many NSV's and bucket list items for me. Tuesday: Kenny Chesney concert Wednesday: Beach day, parasailing, watching fireworks with friends and family Thursday: 8 mile hike followed by 4 miles walking around Casinos and shops Friday: 6 mile hike and beach day, rented jet skis. Saturday: Top of Heavenly- First time ever ziplining, rock climbing, ropes course, mountain coaster. It was amazing getting in so many first time things, and actually being able to climb to the top of the rock wall, complete the ropes course, be under a certain weight limit to fit into harnesses, etc. My kids were so impressed and proud that I was able to keep up with them, and in some cases, out do them! I'll take the memories and NSV's like that over and over again.

Today I was able to wrap a standard size towel around all of me after my shower today. I can't remember the last time I was able to do that. I am super happy about this NSV.

I actually have a medical restriction at work that states I am not allowed to use any ladders that are not rated for greater than 350 pounds. I always check to make sure it will hold me, but it is strange that it is a restriction on my record. When that is removed, it will be both an NSV and a scale victory!

Today I went to a public pool with a big water slide. I went down 5 times! I felt so young and good! Such a wonderful NSV! My smile says it all!

I have started weaning out clothes, not fast enough for Tomkitten, his current mantra is "Pitch It Pitch It You know it won't fit" Why do I hold back? Because,i still don't have a date confirmation, the scars of February, stiil pull and sting, once i,have that elusive date, I promised him I will. I know in my head it will happen, but myโคofโคis still scared. Anyhoo,i found a nice denim Size 24 ๐ won't go down over my round rump roast๐ช but I plan that it will. I'll start,up with a lower case nsv and the BIG NSV will surely,follow!๐

Iโm also sorry to have offended you. I hope you donโt think that we donโt care or we roll our eyes (or in my case SMH) at every OPโs post, but perspective does come with experience. Like I said to the other gal, I hope you come back and participate because itโs truly a NSV to relate to this thread. Much love! โค๏ธ

Iโm sorry if we offended you as a newbie. I hope you revisit the thread 6 months post op and I think youโll even participate. Itโs all about change of perspective and when you can relate to this post, it also is a NSV. Much love, and honestly sorry for offense. -Ashley

What is a realistic WL monthly target?
Sleeved36 replied to BajanSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Everyone is right, there is no exact answer. If you follow your surgeon's plan, work with the nutritionist, and exercise you will lose weight and inches. And gain so much more! Checkout the NSV thread, it is my favorite -
NSV: Trying on underwear you used to wear before surgery now fit's over your tummy instead of under. HA

Major NSVย
Went to the movies with my children and refilled the popcorn bucket for them multi times and didn't touch a drop!
I stuck with coffeeย

Back to Work Experience - When do I loose weight?
browneyez42 replied to RaedQ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're doing great! Remember, there are a lot of NSVs (non scale victories) that you should be experiencing. Do you clothes fit better? I didn't think I was losing fast enough until I did a side by side photo and I saw how much smaller my face was. I'm two months post op and have lost 40 pounds and I feel amazing! I"m losing inches and most of my clothes are too big! Hang in there and remember not to compare yourself to anyone else. -
I mowed the lawn. Havenโt done that in years and it was a breeze... nice NSV in what appears to be a hopefully short lived plateau.
-
What about your NSV (non scale victories). Are your clothes fitting better? Do you have more energy? Don't focus so much on the scale and don't compare your weight loss to others. Sleeved on April 25, 2018 HW: 258 SW: 238 CW: 218 GW: 165

Love this NSV! You inspired me to check my steering wheel, and lo and behold, I could lower mine too! -
February bypass buddies?
istytehcrawk replied to RunningLibrarian's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
HW 427.4 (Jan. 2) SW: 413 (Feb. 15) Last week: 347.4 Today: 346.2 So down 1.2 since last week, 66.8 since surgery and 81.2 since my high weight in January! Had a great NSV this week - moved my steering wheel down so that it's no longer in the highest possible position, because I had a good four-inch gap between it and my stomach! Have definitely noticed the seatbelt not having to extend as much, too. -
It will pass! When you start to see real improvements, and I'm talking about the NSV (non-scale victories) you will no longer regret your choice. Sometimes these are small improvements to your life that make a big impact. Such as, not sitting too close to the steering wheel in the car, being able to wipe your butt easier, or shoes feeling looser. It's these things that really boost morale. I was 345lbs at my highest, 332lb when I started the pre op diet, and I didn't see a visible difference until I was nearly 80lbs down. What I'm saying is, that simply losing 50lb, 75lbs won't make you feel better.... it's the NSV that will keep you positive and moving in the right direction. Feel free to PM me day or night. I'm always around for a vent session or if you need a pick me up. And I'm sorry that this thread is over a week old, hopefully you still get my response!

Is this a stall or my set point weight?
James Marusek replied to LaLaDee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suspect it is a stall. Sleeve patients can be in the weight loss phase for up to a couple years and encounter many stalls along the way. That is why someone on this site came up with the slogan "Embrace the Stall". Many find that when they are in a stall, they find other successes, like dropping a size in clothing or other NSVs. -
Reading so many clothes ones, Iโll add: I have bought a few nicer smaller pantiesover the last year as I lost. But my old cotton ones still sort of worked so I didnโt overhaul them. Now that I can wear actual dresses without longline โshortsโ under them to protect the chafing thighs, I PUT ON ONE OF THE OLD PANTIES AND IT WAS FALLING DOWN under the dress! So I ordered as a surgiversary gift a whole set of new undies and the others are trashed as soon as the new ones arrive! Another NSV from today: I found out that working out flattens the earth. I walked my daughter up to her first day of camp. Same place as last year. I had to hike up this hill to her group. Same area this year, but no hot sweaty hike up the hill.... I didnโt even realize it was slightly uphill. It was Everest last year; this year itโs as easy to walk as a flat sidewalk. Yeah!

NSV: yesterday a business man came into to see one of the bosses. He gave me a candy bar first and then the paperwork. I said I would be sure to give to supervisor. he says no candy is for you. I said its ok, he was , NO ITS FOR YOU. I said thank you , that I had had weight surgery so I tend to stay away from candy. He looked at me up and down and said you don't need surgery (probably didn't understand what I had said).ย It's nice knowing that I look fit enough to whereย I would not need one, lol. Working out 25 out of 31 days definitely helps!
