NSV's are far more important then what the scale reads. Do not let the numbers on the scale dictate your success or failures with the band. SIt down and make a list of all of thethings in your life that have changed since the band. Are you happier? healthier? Is your family happier? Buying cuter and smaller size clothes? Not needing to take blood pressure meds or other obese related meds? Do your feet and joints ache less now? If you answered YES to any of these questions then you are not a failure!

I decided to try on my summer shorts that I have from last summer that eventually felt so tight that I quit wearing them last summer. They felt just fine.! So, I decided to try on ALL of my shorts and I made a little note to put in the pocket of each pair with the date, how they fit and my current weight. Now, when I try them on when it warms up enough, I will know how they fit before.

Yes, I have been looking forward to the day to be able to wash that biggest size of dress, top and pants I had pre-surgery and put them into a donate box! Getting everything all neat and clean to donate. Might even try to see about consigning to a Plus-size store for some smaller clothes to swap! NSV!!!:thumbup:

Is anyone having success and enjoying their banded life?
jfc193 replied to Kitt3000's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
write yourself a letter with your hopes and dreams for the future also remind yourself how well you are dong and anything positive no matter how small. The reason you want to write the letter is to remind yourself when you want to give up how well you are doing now. Start keeping a list of NSV's (Non Scale Victories) -
Oh no she didn't... haha...NSV

Lol, I've never been a fan of leggings. But my husband bought me a new outfit when he was away at army training. Roflmao,I looked at those little clothes...a size small of all things.. and shook my head.. thinking how do I show him I appreciate his gift knowing that WON'T fit... lol, so I took the plunge. To my surprise they fit. And to my second surprise, leggings aren't bad🤣 Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Anyone else have a surgery date of November 13?
M!@ replied to Ritcheycop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely Feisty! So day eight post op and a couple of incision stitches had to go...My 3 smaller incisions stitches removed this morning. My skin was starting to heal over them, and that's a no no. The two others I will give a few move days. In other news. I am able to swallow my antibiotic rather than dumping the contents in Jello NSV....only 2 days left of those and I will add the multiV. Then probably calcium. My doc says add the iron if needed after healed. -
It is official, I am now in a size 10 pants What a thril this is for me, I can not remember the last time I wore a size 10. Went shopping yesterday and today and bought 3 pairs size 10 capris The scale has not moved much for me the last month or so but the inches are coming off. So for those of you who are discouraged the scale is not moving, do not fret, your probably losing inches..I'm living proof What I weigh is not as important as how I look & how I feel and right now I'm feeling pretty damn good!!! Just thought I share my fantastic NSV with all of you I LOVE MY BAND!!! 14 lbs to goal :banana

NSV: High Blood Pressure and Weight loss
Dave_NW posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been on high blood pressure meds for several years, and generally have managed to keep my numbers within reasonable limits ~125/95 or so, sometimes a bit higher. I've been taking two different meds to get those numbers down to that level. So then I was banded a bit over three weeks ago. I've dropped a chunk of weight. Yesterday was my first day back at work since surgery. I found myself feeling unfocused and a bit lightheaded. It occurred to me that maybe my blood pressure was too low, due to the changes in my weight, diet, and the two meds I've been taking for it. I checked my blood pressure and found it was down to 101/63. Yikes! I contacted my PCM doctor and asked her if I should stop taking my BP meds and monitor things. She agreed, and said I should check my BP several times a day, and advise within a few days of the results. So I've checked my BP every two hours today at work. It is absolutely normal ~120/74 or so each time - without ANY blood pressure meds. I'm pretty pleased about that, since this could mean two fewer pills to take every day. I'm all for that. I wanted to post about it in case others are having the same symptoms I was having. Good luck! Dave -
My success is motivating non-banders - WOW!

Nsv - Wearing Cords This Winter
guzel replied to SKCUNNINGHAM's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is an awesome nsv! I was just looking at my cords today and feeling sad because I've rubbed them smooth just like you said. I'm so glad to be getting sleeved next week. -
I'm loving what I see in the mirror- I haven't lost any weight this week but, I am very proud of myself. I know my body is changing even if the scale says differently! I hope you all have a wonderful day
-
I'm down just 21 pounds & already people are noticing. Just the other day my FIL asked me how much I've lost and after I told him he said "you can definitely tell it!" He never comments on things like this. Then yesterday at my Dad's house, my step-mom asked me the same question & said the same thing my FIL said! I still can't really tell I've lost 21 pounds. I guess it's because I still see me as 201 pounds.

I have always loved to wear fine waled cords in the winter months - but I gave that up when I became obese because of the noise the cords made when I walked because my thighs rubbed together. There was so much friction, I'm surprised the pants didn't catch fire. The last pair I owned (way before my highest weight) had places on the inside of the thighs where the cords were rubbed smooth from the pressure. This winter, I have two very nice pair - one in black and one in camel. And, they don't make any noise when I walk in them. YEA!

Phfft! Scale? What Scale?!!! Awesome job JA! What great NSV's! I hoping your dancing to your band, he sure is playing his best for you! -BG -
NSV are the best! My 16 year old son will come give me a bear hug and pick me up and tells me I'm so light. Another one was when I went shopping and I automatically went to the woman's department and the sales clerk told me I was in the wrong section!

Very impressive. Talk about a great NSV!!

I work at a school. We just had a fire drill. It is my job to grab the emergency kit (in a backpack). At the last fire drill I could not pull it over my shoulders. Today I noticed that some people had their backpack on. I thought, why not try? IT FIT! I'm down 50 pounds since December. YAY me! !

What are some NSV's you're looking foward to?
Kquinn posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just thought this would be fun! If you are pre-op what are some NSVs (non scale victory) you want? If you are post-op what were some NSVs you wanted and did you achieve it? This might sound weird but the one nsv I want, probably more than any, is to be able to fit into Victoria Secret bras and clothes!!! -
My sister and I were at K Mart today. They had a lot of sales. We saw the bathing suits and decided that we needed new bathing suits since our weight loss. We tried on a size 14 and a size 12. (last year we wore 1X or 2X) I was thrilled that I could wear a size 12. So I bought that little leopard print size 12 and took it home. I even modeled it for my DH.:clap2: I have been floating on a cloud ever since. I never dreamed that I would be in size 12 again. The last time I wore a size 12 was 18 years ago. What a great feeling! The band works!
